I'm hoping someone can help. I'm running Slimbean 2.4 with the Semaphore_JB_2.0.6sc kernel on my Captivate. For some reason, when I am on a phone call I can not hear any sms or any other notifications. I hear them fine when I'm not on a call. I read somewhere that a feature included in most kernels is causing it, but there was little detail. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Help!!!!
Thanks.
I can't imagine I'm the only one with this issue.
I'm not currently on Slim but I'll give you a couple places to look that shouldn't have anything to do with what kernel you're running. First off open the phone app, hit the menu key, and select settings. There may be an option in there to turn on notifications during a call (isn't on the rom I'm running but still you should look). Secondly do the same thing in your messages app. I know that I have a setting in there that allows it to vibrate during a call when I get a message. Other than those two maybe someone running Slim can give you a little more detailed help.
I checked and didn't see any of those options. I guess this will just have to be something I'll have to live with. Thanks for your help.
Flashed just CM10 and same problem.

I've tried a few roms now and my cappy seems to e doing the same thing for all of them. Am I doing something wrong here? The sms notifications ring fine if I'm not on a call.

Im having problems with Google Talk on my phone.
Normally, if u start a chat. and the other person is talking back, u should see the txt under your own txt. But i only see it as a balloon in my top-tray of the phone and do not see the txt written by the other person in the chat overview.
Anyone knows how to solve this?

My gf and I also have Galaxy S phones. Her device is running on I9000XXJFB firmware, mine is on I9000XWJM2. Shes having kinda like the same problem with GTalk: the screen is splitted to 2 sides (top&bottom), instead of how mine works (the good old conversation-look, when A-B-A-B persons messages follow each other).
Maybe its firmware-dependent? I did not find any option to change the layout in the settings menu.
Firmware is probably a good bet. If you want to hold off, have you tested to see what happens if you turn the setting balloon top-tray setting off? Would you see nothing at all? Or would it populate the message how it should.
You probably want the best of both worlds, it's worth a quick test if you have any reason to delay upgrading firmware.
disabling the notification button in the toptray would be a bummer anyway because then i wouldnt be notified if somebody is messaging me.
i downloaded a beta version of Hi GTalk from the market. which is working as it should work so i guess my problem isnt solved with Talk it self, but with installing an alternative app.
i think you'd still receive the sound notification. As long as you are going an alternative app route, i'd. consider uninstalling and reinstalling GTalk, it might just be corrupted.
good point. i will uninstall it and reinstall.
[edit] hehe i cant uninstall it. its "in the factoryrom" so i see. i dont see it at the installed programs list..?
gtalk still problem
Hi, I have the same problem with gtalk, also after upgrade to Froyo any ideas ?
solution
Solution:
Change time zone to the right location unbelievable, but it works !!! layout is dependent on internal time zone.
Good luck
Ok so I have a small issue, when im on the phone and I get a text message i get this really LOUD beep thats really annoying. Even the person im talking to says its really loud. How do I turn that completely off? Ive tried putting my phone on silent mode, there's nothing in the sound settings, call settings or messaging settings that ive found that can fix it. So please someone help me, Im on the avatar rom 2.9b version 4.2.2
You'll probably get better advice in an avatarrom forum. Most messaging apps allow disabling vibrate, led, and sound if desired. Which app are you using?

I'm using an app called Verizon Messages, even the default message app doesn't have anything though. I'm on the phone alot so this is really annoying..
I would go to the Verizon support site and check the FAQ's, app manual, or start a support incident with Verizon support.

I assume you are referring to mike1986? ... You'd be better asking in the ROM thread as more people will see it and no doubt help much quicker.

Yeha, I would however I cannot post there for some reason, I think I need a higher post count, So i would have to refer to this section.. I think its quite silly that they put the post count limit on.. however I guess its understandable for when newbies ask silly questions.
Try saving or deleting the voicemail instead of just dismissing it. That always seems to work for me.

i doubt that it will be a glitch in mikes rom only. mikes roms are just stock with no modifications . so if there is a glitch it should be available on all roms.
Yeah thats the thing, there was no voice mail, it just asked to set it up. Which I did, but notification was still there.
I tried to turn it off however it came back when I turned it back on.
I managed to get rid of it by clearing the cache from the settings -> apps.
I seem to be hearing a small pop noise from speaker... normal?
I cant post this under the ROM thread cause im new... sorry for that.
Always when im trying to call a number i dont know if my phone is really calling. because when i tap to call a number i dont get visuell feedback. i only can hear the number dialing but cant see it. so i also cant hang up to cancel this
but thats not all. when someone calls me, I just can hear the ring tone, but i dont see anything to accept it. the display just stays as it was before --> after my mailbox got the call, i see a missed call.
someone else have this issue?

My sound just stopped today for message notification. It worked fine since I had the phone for a week now. I checked all the settings and they are fine. I change the sound tone but that didn't help.
Is there something going on the the note 8 or am I missing something??
Need some help, thanks.
solved! notification cleaner was on for all apps. disabled and it works fine now.

Bunch of little issues here and there popping up. Maybe try clearing the cache of the message app and also try a Ringtone app (like Zedge) to change the ringtone and see if that works?

Oh...hahaha...my page on sitting here for a few minutes, before i posted...
This is one thing I noticed. Notifications are hit and miss, including apps that write over the screen, such as Facebook messenger chat heads. Most times I get neither. I'll get a message, 4 hours later no notification not even from inbox email. I have to check manually, and inbox will update, and I'll see message from Facebook inside the app.
Happens on carrier network or WiFi. Seems like data is off when screen off or maybe apps are in deep sleep.

Same here with Moto g (falcon), latest build of LOS. Whatsapp notifications shows randomly or not showing at all with crackling sound.

Hope this works for you-go to settings, sounds and vibration, notification sounds, click default notification sound PRESS VOLUME BUTTON UP. If the sound plays hit back and you have your notification sounds back.
