battery life ... nothing more - LG Optimus Black

hi there ...
since I'm using my p970 mainly as a wifi xbmc remote control, as a "fritz.box-phone" and sometimes some gps stuff only, I am searching for battery life as much as I can get.
I don't use mobile options cause I even don't have a sim card inserted. And I don't need performance or a snappy interface cause I just use barley a hand full of apps.
So I need ur advice which config is best for me. which kernel, gov ,launcher and Rom I should use.

get zeus v7
underclock your cpu, undervolt the cpu, change the screen brightness, use adw launcher or a lighter one, change the options of wifi in zeus tweaker allowing better battery consumption

How to undervolt cpu?

Zeus App/Tweaker

Ok, but if I use CM7?

Cm7 is known to suck quite a lot of juice.. better for you to switch to Zeus

I would, but I love sound in CM and switching songs with volume rockers

well a price for everything
battery life for music
is the sound really better on cm?
(i mean compared to power amp in stock roms)
does it sound louder and have a richer bass?

Yup. I tried everything (CiCi, Mercurified, Zeus, Nova), tried to apply fixes to switch music with volume rockers (it's sth necessary for me - i failed ) and cm is the best in my opinion.
It would be nice if I could change voltage...

So, use boype's cm7 and underclock and undervolt it

Play Store - SetCPU
Theres no point in UV. Save battery to get more SoDs. Thats what CM7 is

AFAIK does DVFS (feature of LG) already undervolt your CPU as far as possible, according to safe values of course. I think anything lower causes SoDs and other errors... You should take boype's kang, if you want to have CM7. I just made a test and got 1day 18 hours with normal use, so you can definitly get more out of it

Well I'm using boyope's cm7 and its sort of same as zeus v7 in battery life, just try boyope's then see for yourself since u want a cm rom

Overocking for daily use?

Hi everyone, is it fine to use overclock for a daily use?
Sent from my X8
If its at a stable measurement. If you put it at a ridiculously high measurement for daily use then your phone will start rebooting on its own. 710mhz recommended
I cant find for 710mhz on alfs kernel

overcloking = more speed = require more energy and will drain your battery faster. That's the consequence.
I feel the good of oc only on gaming.. phone, sms, etc not much difference
I wouldn't over kill it and personally would use a rom with a higher clock rather than a slider app. Seems to be more stable to me.
Edit:
I had my 855 running a 1ghz rom flawlessly. Even got about 10 hours out of it. Before that I used setcpu to 1ghz od and thought my phone was going to melt

Best Rom for battery life?

Hello Guys,
I'd like to know your favorite Rom ever for battery life, I don't care if it ugly or with bugs, I just want the best Rom for my battery.
thx
(and sorry for my bad english)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
you might wanna look more at a kernel that's is what makes the battery life better also reset battery stats in cwm recovery
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I find stock roms have the best battery life. If you really want to push it, get a basic rooted kernel w/ clock speeds (semaphore), and underclock your phone to maybe 800mhz.
try using a stock rom and a good root (semaphore/galaxian) and use low light display and underclock the cpu
Thx guys, I'm gonna try that, (sorry to respond 1month later lol)

can you please explain more about underclock your phone to maybe 800mhz
I use simplicity with special configurations in the semaphore kernel:
- Underclocking to 800MHz
- Simple-IO
- batterysave Governor
- autobrightness to dark
- darker-Voodoo Color
I also switch off Network and Auto-Sync with help of widgetsoid (see market) when not in use.
Goatrip has the best battery life

Hey, sindalf, what version are you running, I was on 2.11 using fugu(I think) kernel v3189, and my battery is not very good.
any rom with removed bloatware such as CM7 and others
try gamerz rom that is brilliant for bat life and removed bloatware
Back in the day that I didn't used MIUI ROM's I used Darky's and that battery life was great! Also the ROM was blazing fast.
Last version I used from Darky's was 10.2 or something like that (V10 for sure). Had about 2 till 3 days battery life. With slightly less usage than normal. And i must tell you that when I flashed that ROM i jys had a new battery.

[Q] how to improve performance in 4.2

hi dev
I am using cm10.1 rc2 but it has alot of lag. Any way to improve it? ??
Replace your ace processor amd gpu buy an S4 dissemble is octa core and gpu and glue it on ace it will be so much faster
Just kidding
Dont fill up system and data
Try ram management script's
U can try using swap if u have a fast sdcard
Overlock it a bit and change governor smartassv2 always got me on the good away
Use lite browsers and launchers
Thats all u can do

Juice defender don't boost your performance and nofrills is USELESS in CM roms because they can set de frequencies without 3er party apps... cm roms have in-built a system to OC/UV CPU frequencies... installing apps you only get more lag because they'll increase your ram consumption, the best way to reduce lag is bareboning the rom, kill useless process and using some scripts could help too
I'm damn sure No-frills increases performance but increases battery usage as well, so for this use juice defender. Both of them are just ~3mb (combined) so need to mumbo jumbo for free space... lol

Use greenify, and select all those apps that remain open, such as facebook, viber ...

I get +/- 1 day on stock JB (GPS always ON, data always On). Last time i tried CM (RC2) i didn't get 6h...
I'm currently getting a decent ammount of battery life with CM Nightly 20130613 + Idoak v6 kernel.
Also Stock ROM with Idoak kernel is good aswell. Just have my Governor set to Interactive and seems to do a pretty well job.

From what I've read/heard around. The CM RC version are alot more buggy and problematic than the Nightlies. I haven't tried the RCs myself tho the Nightly does feel pretty smooth and stable.
Which firmware?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
ROM has little to nothing to do with battery life, aside from the obvious settings you can select to turn opn or off features. what does influence battery life is how you use the phone and in particular 3 key elements
1) Kernel - Stock kernel is pretty limited, using alternative kernels will allow different governor and scheduler options along with frequency and voltage control
2) Tweaks - many unsuspectable little things can change the way your phone drains, probably the best way to start is getting pimp my rom from the plauy store
3) Apps - You will need apps to help managing and scheduling when and how the phone drains. LBE security master or any other task manager will prevent unwanted app startings and others like juice defender or other battery saving programs help with which interfaces are on and when.
Also keep in mind that if your phone is new the battery in the first 3-4 days need to settle and will change drastically behaviour.
Hope this helps
In any case a catania sto telefono te lo fanno prima della terza ricarica quindi non mi starei a preoccupar troppo
Grazie XD
In this case which kernel and governor do you suggest me?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda premium
Stock rom, remove LG MLT and Google Backup Service and you should be good.
I can leave my phone for 2 days without worrying about charging it. However, with screen set to 50 or 100% brightness, the battery drains very fast.
Otherwise, keep your screen brigthness low and get a governor that lets you throttle the CPU. At 800 MHz,you should be fine. Also, dont use auto brightness, it will not help.
Thank you which firmware?

EuroOpen V20A if stock or CM, some nightly between RC2 and RC 3(Thats the last ones I tested that used to be good)
Could someone help on what r the steps for install custom ROMS and Wich one is the best for battery life I'm having very very huge battery problem. The battery it's long for about 3 hours tops and I need to keep charging always and also the overheat is extremely. I will appreciate ur help

Sorry but you should write a new topic for this problem... Anyway there are several guides in this section that revolve about how to install custom roms. Try looking there... However generally after installed a recovery you should do a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) -> install zip from sd card -> choose zip from internal/external sd card -> [file directory] -> choose file -> yes

I dont know if iodak improves battery life, but I do not think that battery improved with CM. It actually got worse for me,
XenonHD + iodak v06 has been very smooth and battery friendly. A day and a half of moderate use and I'm sitting at 18%

V20 or V10, which one is best?

Which one of v20a and v10h are best? And best in what, and why? I mean like in battery, smoothnes and performance.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
For me undoubtedly V20,this version is smoother and has a greater battery
Some say that this version isn't better in term of gaming but it is not the case for me

Remove anything about LG and themes etc., anything you don't need in stock ROM v20a and it'll be freakin smooth, they consume a lot of memory and CPU in the background, I freed up around 150 - 200 mb by removing all these ****.Don't even try cyanogenmod, It's 3D performance is bad, but in terms of battery it beats stock kernel a little bit, though I'd go with stock ROM + eternity project kernel, It has livecolors mod so everything looks good.It includes better tegra drivers & core management so it's also faster than stock.Wıth EPRJdemand governor + noop scheduler, your phone will be a battery saver with g8 performance, If you want performance, go for interactive governor (It's good at saving battery too due to new core management )
So in my opinion, go for V20a, install eternity project kernel, delete lots of bloatware and your phone will be smooth as hell with good battery life :good:
I don't know much about v10h, but jellybean is pretty good
Ye, im trying the new liquid smooth rom for now, it seems to be smooth, will se hos i do later
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
I was told the v20 has a completely open bootloader though I am not exactly sure what that means.
