Overocking for daily use? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, is it fine to use overclock for a daily use?
Sent from my X8

If its at a stable measurement. If you put it at a ridiculously high measurement for daily use then your phone will start rebooting on its own. 710mhz recommended

I cant find for 710mhz on alfs kernel

overcloking = more speed = require more energy and will drain your battery faster. That's the consequence.
I feel the good of oc only on gaming.. phone, sms, etc not much difference

I wouldn't over kill it and personally would use a rom with a higher clock rather than a slider app. Seems to be more stable to me.
Edit:
I had my 855 running a 1ghz rom flawlessly. Even got about 10 hours out of it. Before that I used setcpu to 1ghz od and thought my phone was going to melt

Thanks for the feedback guys now i have something to consider

[Q] Overclocking ace with SetCPU?

i got freez on my phone every try i want to overclock it via setcpu,i currently using Grif CM rom, before overclock i flash the OC kernel named ketut, and then installed setCPU.First i was try to set max to 844mhz and min to 122mhz,if i goes up my phone starts to freez after few seconds...i was seen something on youtube that it could be run on 903 mhz even on 940mhz so what's the point?
and sry for the language....
What's the point ?
The point is that all CPUs are different like humans .
Like us people , some can withstand going faster while other cannot .
It's all down to how much the CPU can do
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Yup. Listen to him.

point is u need to read a little bit more
You can try a rom based on stock instead of cm7 and try the cf-root OC kernel. Might be the same though.

Point is, buy a more powerfull phone with higher cpu....

Going over 844 can cause damage to your CPU. I would recommend not doing so
Yes, people have taken it to 904 and then drained full battery in about half hour.
So, if you're so unhappy, buy a new phone

Q - Overclock

Hy XDA,
I have a simple question:
Why does my phone turn off if i OC it too high?
Cpu can't handle it or battery overheat?

Cpu can't handle it or battery overheat
But Which?
All theese too?
Anyway i'll make a test:
I will OC higher and higher and run a Quadrant Benchmark, while holding my phone in front of a 90cm fan, without the phone's back cover
Will report the test's performance ^^

Its due to the cpu, every cpu is different, their tolerant limits for oc are different, you should oc the processor only uptill the point where it runs without any reboot.
Do not cross the safety limit, it might damage your processor.
Oh man. Accidentally pressed the thanks button again.
Volkswagen is cool and I hope to own one.
No problem, there we go there is a Big Thanks for you too

battery life ... nothing more

hi there ...
since I'm using my p970 mainly as a wifi xbmc remote control, as a "fritz.box-phone" and sometimes some gps stuff only, I am searching for battery life as much as I can get.
I don't use mobile options cause I even don't have a sim card inserted. And I don't need performance or a snappy interface cause I just use barley a hand full of apps.
So I need ur advice which config is best for me. which kernel, gov ,launcher and Rom I should use.

get zeus v7
underclock your cpu, undervolt the cpu, change the screen brightness, use adw launcher or a lighter one, change the options of wifi in zeus tweaker allowing better battery consumption
How to undervolt cpu?

Zeus App/Tweaker
Ok, but if I use CM7?
Cm7 is known to suck quite a lot of juice.. better for you to switch to Zeus
I would, but I love sound in CM and switching songs with volume rockers
well a price for everything
battery life for music
is the sound really better on cm?
(i mean compared to power amp in stock roms)
does it sound louder and have a richer bass?
Yup. I tried everything (CiCi, Mercurified, Zeus, Nova), tried to apply fixes to switch music with volume rockers (it's sth necessary for me - i failed ) and cm is the best in my opinion.
It would be nice if I could change voltage...
So, use boype's cm7 and underclock and undervolt it

Play Store - SetCPU
Theres no point in UV. Save battery to get more SoDs. Thats what CM7 is

AFAIK does DVFS (feature of LG) already undervolt your CPU as far as possible, according to safe values of course. I think anything lower causes SoDs and other errors... You should take boype's kang, if you want to have CM7. I just made a test and got 1day 18 hours with normal use, so you can definitly get more out of it
Well I'm using boyope's cm7 and its sort of same as zeus v7 in battery life, just try boyope's then see for yourself since u want a cm rom

anyway to increase overclocking limit?

hello all friends. is there any tweak to increase our phone overclocking limit? my phone can be overclock to 806mhz max but it will hang if i use processor intensive app. it will stable if i overclock it to 787mhz only. but i things i feel weird, when i overclock to 806mhz then i run antutu benchmark it will be just fine wihout rebooting. why is this happen?
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
not 100% sure, but afaik it's a hardware issue, and different phones have different results. i can't oc mine above 800 without rebooting. some can. some aren't stable above 700.

yes i know its depend on hardware. even the same phone with same manufacturing date also could have a different result in everclocking. i just want to know if there any tweak or mod to improve overclocking.

i haven't found one, unfortunately. and i did try looking for tweaks to make my device stable at higher frequencies. i don't think there is. but then i may be wrong.

There is no way to get no reboots at 806+ as you mentioned. You will always have reboots at this freq.Mine is only stable at 748 , at 768 getting reboots

erm ok. 1 last question. what does thing that make it reboot? i mean is it because of heat or system halt cause by miscalculation of data that happen when system bottlenecked occur?
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
some procesors are built very well and they can run at 825mhz without reboots and such, mine on the other hand, cant go above 729.

yes i know that well but i just dont know what really makes our phone reboot when we overclocked it. is it cause by overheat that toggle the max temp threshold to automatically reboot it or cause by bottlenecked?

[Q] Best CPU settings for games in Apocalypse ROM?

Hey, all.
I am running the apocalypse ROM on my SGA.
While playing, i noticed that Jetpack Joyride lags a lot.
What will be the best CPU settings and governor for gaming?
Please let me know your opinion.
Also, I rarely over clock it beyond 844mhz, so is it a good idea to go beyond?
Thanks.
Peace out.

864 or even 883 is pretty stable for me
Maximum clock speeds vary with device..Impossible to give an exact figure or predict anything

I agree.
But I was just wondering which would be the best governor for gaming. Everyone may have different opinions.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
I have mine on 902mhz, always stable, very fast and very good for gaming, the best governor for gaming is either lagfree or performance.
Best of luck!

well if you scared of crashes, heat and battery drain you can set maximum to 864mhz, minimum to 245 mhz and set governors to performance will be very stable and faster. it depends on your device. i found my ace oc to 902mhz is not stable for me, it crashes often and very hot, drains the battery about 1% 6-7 mins.
