anyway to increase overclocking limit? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello all friends. is there any tweak to increase our phone overclocking limit? my phone can be overclock to 806mhz max but it will hang if i use processor intensive app. it will stable if i overclock it to 787mhz only. but i things i feel weird, when i overclock to 806mhz then i run antutu benchmark it will be just fine wihout rebooting. why is this happen?

not 100% sure, but afaik it's a hardware issue, and different phones have different results. i can't oc mine above 800 without rebooting. some can. some aren't stable above 700.

yes i know its depend on hardware. even the same phone with same manufacturing date also could have a different result in everclocking. i just want to know if there any tweak or mod to improve overclocking.

i haven't found one, unfortunately. and i did try looking for tweaks to make my device stable at higher frequencies. i don't think there is. but then i may be wrong.

There is no way to get no reboots at 806+ as you mentioned. You will always have reboots at this freq.Mine is only stable at 748 , at 768 getting reboots

erm ok. 1 last question. what does thing that make it reboot? i mean is it because of heat or system halt cause by miscalculation of data that happen when system bottlenecked occur?
Sent from my E15i using xda premium

some procesors are built very well and they can run at 825mhz without reboots and such, mine on the other hand, cant go above 729.

yes i know that well but i just dont know what really makes our phone reboot when we overclocked it. is it cause by overheat that toggle the max temp threshold to automatically reboot it or cause by bottlenecked?

Tegrak overclock works on EF02 allowing up to 1.3ghz
Tegrak Ultimate can UV/OV as well
Don't see this here yet so just gonna let everyone here know that tegrak overclock has been updated and supports our epics. I also wanted to set up a thread to discuss internal voltages and such that our gingerbread epics like. It also appears we can only go up to 1.3ghz.
I reccomend buying tegrak ultimate to support this awesome developer
The free version of tegrak can be used but does not apply after reboot.

Oh nice, how'd you come across this? Also we need source OC if I'm correct so is this actually possible? (Please do correct me if I'm mistaken. )

It works and shows in quadrant I got 3304 1.3ghz is a little unstable but 1.252ghz is perfect. The evo 3d got overclocked without source we just needed some love from tegrak

From the description in the market this works on the stock Rom. Only need root.

Yeah it works 1.3 ist stable but 1.2 is thas all I've tried

It works. 1.3ghz makes my phone crash. Probably because the voltage isn't set high enough cause it works fine on overclock froyo kernels. I am getting 3300+ on quadrant @1.252ghz w/journaling on though.

The hardware hasn't changed, so the simple answer is, whatever worked for your individual phone on froyo and eclair... Your values will be different than everyone else's, however, so a new thread won't really yield anything useful, just like the other threads.
As discussed before, any discussion of OC and UV settings its like trying to determine a universal diet for everyone - we're all human, but we won't all be perfectly healthy on the same diet. Sorry for the rant, but this particular topic needs to die already...

great news...can't wait untill the source code is released for gingerbread, so our great epic devs can really get this ball rolling, BTW, BIG THANKS to all of our epic developers out there, you guys are doing a great job.........
but i think i'll stick with overclocked froyo till source code
STABLE 1.4ghz ALL DAY!!!!!
quadrant: 2966
linpack: 24.982
rom: syndicate frozen 1.2
kernel: genocide 2.0
I have mixed results at times by just enabling the app and going on any frequency below 1.3 I can somehow bog my phone down into a crash, but I'm going to keep testing.

Why does my phone turn off if i OC it too high?
Cpu can't handle it or battery overheat?

But Which?
All theese too?
Anyway i'll make a test:
I will OC higher and higher and run a Quadrant Benchmark, while holding my phone in front of a 90cm fan, without the phone's back cover
Will report the test's performance ^^

Its due to the cpu, every cpu is different, their tolerant limits for oc are different, you should oc the processor only uptill the point where it runs without any reboot.
Do not cross the safety limit, it might damage your processor.
Oh man. Accidentally pressed the thanks button again.
Volkswagen is cool and I hope to own one.
No problem, there we go there is a Big Thanks for you too

CPU running at 1134 mhz?

I got the phone 3 days ago and when i ran benchmarks (antutu and quadrant) they showed my atrix running at 1512 mhz. Now they show 1134mhz. This wiuld be easy to fix/ confirm if we had root.
The Phone also gets kinda got but i think that's normal.

I have noticed mine clocking at 1512 for half the antutu test, then it clocks it self at 1134 or 1311. Phone does get a big sluggish in some games.

Why my note running at 200Hz all the times. Only few times run at full speed?

Our phones are designed in such a way that the our phone's processor will run at more speed only when it is necessary..there are many reasons main reasons being
1) More speed=more battery consumption
2) More speed=more heat generated..continuosly if the processor is running @ max speed, more heat will b generated & it may harm your phone.
So, it is always good if the phone is running at low speeds for smaller processes & if it goes to deep sleep when u lock ur phone's screen..
200 is good. I even want my note to automatically go into to deep sleep everytime I press the power key.

Chage the kernel and you'll get OC to 902Mhz (available 998Mhz in CM builts) but I think using 800Mhz with SmartassV2 governor it's enough. Even you can use scripts as Fly-on Mod or Adrenaline Engine to boost your performance experience
About ram, you CAN'T increase RAM amount you only can use swap partition but in my opinion it's not necessary to increase performance. And it's dangerous to your sdcard's life
Thanks dude...

Zram isn't a good solution for ace. It is very unstable and phone reboots often.
The best solution is to enable KSM and purgeable assets. You must try it because ksm doesn't work good on some ROMs and could make your phone slower while purgeable assets could make slower the phone while you're switching apps in multitasking due to the reload of images from disk.

Install the app Seeder and set the value to moderate. You'll free about 40% of your ram and the device will run much smoother than before.

What? Where did you get this information?
Seeder doesn't free up ram, it will even consume more ram if you are using the Seeder app.
Seeder only makes sure that there is enough entropy in the entropy pool, so the apps don't have to wait until the entropy loads.
Thats why the apps load faster, not because there is more free ram.
