Hi, I'm VisualTech48 and i own a Galaxy S Plus (I9001).
Our great Developers [Arco98, Ivendor, Doomsday98, Oisis, etc.] are developing ICS Roms and trying to make Jelly Bean too but we are missing a key element of this game.
It's the 3.0.x Kernel. We really need a good coder.
If anyone knows, or can help us code this kernel we are Ready to donate, and help by giving logs if even needed.
If we donate to someone, he/she must:
Help our devs with codeing
Give us a booting kernel
We have done allready a part of the project but we need help with codeing, that is why I even started this thread.
What has oisis done:
Added board-ariesve.c here:
arch/arm/mach-msm/board-ariesve.c
Included Ariesve board to Kconfig and Makefile.
Added missing files:
include/linux/fsa9480.h
arch/arm/mach-msm/include/mach/msm_reqs.h

Thank you for trying to dev for our G version!!
The cyanogen source are for the 9100 version, not for our 9100G.
Have you got the proprietary files from your current rom?
There is a script for that but it's made for the 9100 version so the files the script try to get aren't the same in our 9100G.
There is lot of work to do to modify this and I imagine some conf file in the compil routine to modify...
There is a lot of work. If you can make it you will be like a king for us
Anyway, if you need help to test some kind of things, I can try. I've tried to port a rom from a 9100 to a 9100G but stuck on some mistake and didn't find any help
I suggest to wait for ICS version to work on, what do you think of this?
Yup both are different bt procedure is same..
Got propitary files, and yeah I know there is lot of modification.
am working on cm 7.2 if successfull then i can try ICS for sure
lets hope
Pls Devs help mee to find out wheres my fault. and guide me to device and vendor folder.

`No rule to make target `xxx', needed by `yyy'.'
This means that make decided it needed to build a target, but then couldn't find any instructions in the makefile on how to do that, either explicit or implicit (including in the default rules database). If you want that file to be built, you will need to add a rule to your makefile describing how that target can be built. Other possible sources of this problem are typos in the makefile (if that filename is wrong) or a corrupted source tree (if that file is not supposed to be built, but rather only a dependency).
For that one I can't remember if this is in the proprietary file (if yes it doesn't have to be build so this is the error)
Edit: it appears we build "libaudio.so" from sources.
# Prebuilt libraries that are needed to build open-source libraries
PRODUCT_COPY_FILES := \
vendor/samsung/c1-common/proprietary/libcamera.sobj/lib/libcamera.so \
vendor/samsung/c1-common/proprietary/libril.sobj/lib/libril.so \
vendor/samsung/c1-common/proprietary/libsecril-client.sobj/lib/libsecril-client.so \
vendor/samsung/c1-common/proprietary/audio/libaudio.sobj/lib/libaudio.so \
for antoher one
`warning: overriding commands for target `xxx''
`warning: ignoring old commands for target `xxx''
GNU make allows commands to be specified only once per target (except for double-colon rules). If you give commands for a target which already has been defined to have commands, this warning is issued and the second set of commands will overwrite the first set.
No explanation needeed I think.
Can you share you'r building files? As this I can help you more.

Yes, the challange is to find all the proprietary files to be extracted, modified the script (the easiest thing) and modify all the build script to replace good file name regarding G version files.
I've modified this extract.sh to extract our files but with non G name to see if it can help me with some error but didn't help me so much. I've got a building error like your's.
I've seen we have different cpu, gpu, audio.
WiFi and Bluetooth chip seems to be the same, mount point are the same except for the external sd card.
After finding how to replace those file in compil, I guess conf file for G chip should be modified.
Correct me if I'm wrong or if you have find other things.
What I didn't understand is the variant of the powervr files with a number at the end, don't know what this mean.
I think there are not huge changes between 4460 & 4430, minor changes.
whats say ?

Hi,
I have this f**king G version too, and I'm interresed in helping such a CM port to that device.
I'm a developer, but I'm new in the Androïd world. How can I help ?
I can try to build at home, on my Fedora station.
Thanks.

I had a look to your modified extract file.
this file is a little bit different in 9100 than in 9100G /system/bin/BCM4330B1_002.001.003.0221.0264.hcd
The 9100 is 0265...
My modifications are "raw" the destination file is the same as the origin, only the origine file had different name
Trying to execute the original script gave us all the file wich have different name or didn't exist. I think those one had to be changed.
Am I true?
I think nearly all those files need to be changed.
CPU, GPU, audio too, we don't have a yamaha but it seems we had a ducati??
Attached is y extract file wich I had modified few day before, didn't make another try yet.
With this one I didn't have any extraction errors but I guess some file are missing.
yeah
mine was fully edited now. dont know whether it is right or wrong.

Good, I will hae a look at your file.
Galaxy nexus S had a Samsung exinos.
I've find that we have some similarity with the motorola droid 3.
We really have to find what are the appropriate proprietary files.

one correction this device(I9100G) has ducati.
and yes droid 3, droid bionic, droid razr, droid razr max all are omap4430.
Here is my modified extract file. I've made some correction on your's.
I think I miss ducati libs.. don't know wich it is.
in /system/device/samsung/galaxys2/BoardConfig.mk , we have too find what is the "TARGET_BOARD_PLATFORM" wich is smdkv310 for 9100.
same for BOARD_FM_DEVICE but I guess it could be the same.
We need very detailled informations for our phone.
Do you know where to find it?
I have also building error
make: *** Pas de règle pour fabriquer la cible « out/target/product/galaxys2/system/lib/libaudio.so », nécessaire pour « out/target/product/galaxys2/system/lib/libaudioflinger.so ». Arrêt.
Sorry for the french message, but it says no rules to build libaudio necessary for libaudioflinger...
What I've noticed is that in the folder system/out/target/product/galaxys2/obj/lib/ libaudio.so appear while libaudioflinger not.
So I guess the problem came from here..
See the complet log file.
Hello,
I'm a n00b(1st post) so please let me know if this is the right place to ask as I was tempted to post Development.
If this is the wrong place then please let me know where/how should I post this.
I did search the forums and stackoverflow as best as I could and tried on my own but I am not making any progress.
I am trying to trigger the Xperia Z's camera in burst mode from code but I can't get to the functionality.
I've tried using the official Sony Add-on SDK(developer.sonymobile.com/knowledge-base/sdks/sony-add-on-sdk/install-the-sony-add-on-sdk/)but it doesn't provide the burst functionality.
Then I downloaded and tried to compile the AOSP(github.com/sonyxperiadev/device-sony-c6603) project but ran into errors:
Code:
First I ran into this:
build/core/main.mk:100: ************************************************************

build/core/main.mk:103: ************************************************************

then I modified that makefile like so:
Code:
ifneq ($(HOST_OS),windows)
ifneq ($(HOST_OS)-$(HOST_ARCH),darwin-ppc)
# check for a case sensitive file system
# ifneq (a,$(shell mkdir -p $(OUT_DIR) ; \

# $(warning Please move your source tree to a case-sensitive filesystem.)
# $(warning ************************************************************)
# $(error Case-insensitive filesystems not supported)

endif
but then ran into another error:

I'm using osx 10.8 and have both 10.7 and 10.8 sdks downloaded. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue though.
I've never build an os from source, so this is a bit intimidating now. I did snoop through the source code and found something very close what I need in frameworks/av/services/camera/libcameraservice as it contains a BurstCapture c++ class. I'm guessing this will be compiled as a shared library which will probably be accessed via JNI or something from an android .jar. Is my guess correct ? How can I compile the shared library and jar ?
I am interested in only the burst capture functionality. How can I get/use those libraries ? Do I need to compile the whole AOSP ? If so, how do I get past the make error ?

Thanks again! Shamefully n00b question: how do I delete this thread ?
(Edit/Delete seems to only do Edit, unless I'm missing something).
only mods can delete threads, and a mod could also just have migrated the whole thread. To me, it seems this could as well have been posted in development, as you seem to know what you are doing and are, in fact, developing. however Q&A is not wrong. I hope you find someone able to help.

There's no need to re post the same topic again in the Q/A section. OP can move this thread easily. Just hit Triangle icon at the top right and report.
Type Q/A and select "Thread Move or Maintenance".

Hi!
We can fix a lot of Galaxy S Advance I9070 bugs like poor battery life or low audio quality and much much more, but only with your help.
These bugs are caused by OS kernel which is not up-to-date with stock ROM’s and Samsung is refusing to update it. Our previous requests have been ignored by them, and the point is that Samsung have to update it, they are just forced by law and licensing terms of Linux, however they just don’t want to do this because of some unknown reason.
We think that the only way to get an updated source code is to… Show the power of our community and spam them with request messages. That’s the only way to fix A LOT of S Advance bugs still present. S3 Mini community have done this before with a great success, so we can do this too!
It’s a nasty way, but it’s the only thing we can do as a community, because our previous requests had been ignored.
We’d be very pleased if you want to help us. It’s easy, just send them the message provided below:
Contact form: HERE
Inquiry type: Request for Source Codes
Sample message:
I’d like to request the most recent Linux kernel source code for Galaxy S Advance I9070. Source code already available on Samsung Opensource is very outdated and not up-to-date with Samsung internal source code, which can be proved.
According to GNU GPL license you are obliged to publish any source code you had changed in Linux kernel, and you are violating law by not publishing it.
Please, stop pretending that current kernel is up-to-date and just update it. Community have had enough waiting for you to even answer to our requests.
Thanks in advance!

Our phone came with Gingerbread, and when the Jellybean update came, that source you linked was the only thing dropped (because it's GPL), which is the current source code we are using for all the kernels available, including CM11 and CoCore.
I think the only time where the older one was used, was when Shaaan tried to port CM 7.2.
Erm, most of what we don't have it's the modem/RIL, that are not ST-Ericsson but Samsung. Unless Sammy has the 3.4 kernel hidden somewhere (very unlikely), anything that is released from now on, it's pretty minor.

We all bought our devices for one reason or another but have came to XDA with the intention of making them better and some of us have done much more than try to fix tiny issues. I want to thank all who have and are developing Custom Roms for our device. If I have missed anyone who has contributed I compel you to write his name so I could add him along with a link if any! We should all know how hard it is to code. For some it's easy but for the most part it's hard work and people tend to forget that. I myself have started learning Python thanks to these people and a fairly recent show named Silicon Valley from cough* cough* 2014. So without further ado! Here are the people I want to thank and you could thank too if you haven't already in one way or another:
@haky 86 (including anyone who has helped) link to his ongoing process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8l...rom-cyanogen-mod-12-0-huawei-p8-lite-t3433523
@Olrak (including all omnirom devs who helped) link to his ongoing process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/orig-development/rom-unofficial-omnirom-5-1-t3400392
@XePeleato (you know what I' going to write here >____>) link to his ongoing process:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-arrived-t3419852
A thanks to @sokkoban for making ever so slight but very useful changes to our stock emui roms. Link to some of his progress (I had to add his blogspot with his work since most of his threads here are deleted)
http://huaweip8lite.blogspot.bg/
I thank @dkonect for sharing once again the recovery needed for these roms which is developed again by XePeleato link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/twrp-3-0-0-0-p8-lite-kirin-t3343320
That includes me thanking haky 86 for giving us CWM but I put TWRP's link up there because it is currently the most used one for our device with full fearures. Pls don't kill me >___>...
And again a thank you to @hackslash (thank you for mentioning him) for helping everyone mentioned above and developing for honor 4C. (If you want to I could add someone here •___•). link to his ongoing process (if I haven't missed any):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4c/development/cm13-huawei-honor-4c-based-hisilicon-t3367224
I'd like to then thank @codeworkx for even starting to and helping everyone here with his code on the Honor 6. Some of his progress here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-honor-6-t3019056
Also I'd like to thank the Mate 7 developer who I couldn't catch his name again for helping with the RIL issues. If he is the person I think he is then he should be @gabry3795 with his process right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mat...pdate-ascend-mate-7-stock-derivative-t3241661
If that isn't him then I compel someone to help me again but even if that isn't him I'd still like to thank that person for making a petition regarding huawei's closed source information. Granted it isn't for our device but it's for the right cause.
As you also might've noticed, our developers could use help and as somebody who is helpless in coding I feel the need to at least ask around if somebody is capable to help if needed. I am not forcing anyone I just ask politely.
Thank you for reading this long post! Here is a potato person>> (>*__*)>

It looks pretty fine, the name of the MT7 developer is correct. About the help, the help We need comes from China and doesn't want to know anything about us. That doesn't mean that if you are not Huawei you can't help, I appreciate every contribution. In my opinion you should include as well to @hackslash even though he's working on the Honor 4C, his contributions have been really great and it's a pleasure to work with him as well as with all the people you listed above.

Thank you for mentioning him and for making me interested in Python. If you're wondering how. You once said you're a C++ dev and I know a little of a similar language named C# but in order to understand more of these two languages I needed Python. And so swish swosh >>
Actually, you should thank for RIL @codeworkx who was developing CM for Honor 6, @gabry3795 just took his code from H6 device tree.
You should include sokoban too for making deodex rom for this phone.
Thanks to all Devs for working on our device ! ^_^
Btw is there any stable rom going to be released ? Wt about CM 13 ? Are we gonna get it or not ? ☹☹☹

Hello, sokkoban.
I've installed your B574 Deodexed and I have two suggestions for your future version of ROM:
1) Implement multi window directly inti ROM. It's a feature many people want and also people are having issues with your rom when using multi window.
2) Auto hide navigation bar. There is a button but it's very annoying to press every time you go into an app.
And I have one question:
3) Are you only going to make ROMs based on Chinese ROM or you will also make European ones?

@Prostokuche Thank you for this mention, I am proud to contribute to this project. After all we are all fighting the same battle And yes, I started the petition about a year ago forcing huawei to release the sources needed for a custom ROM (Mate7 scenario is worse than the p8 one )
I also want to point out that the HuaweiRIL.java module belongs to cyanogenmod project as stated in the license header. My edit on RIL project are signed by me and those to the HuaweiRIL.java was just to exclude features that are not supported by Mate7. :highfive:
I hope you can release a fully working ROM for your device! Good luck!

Hi and welcome to xda.
I noticed that you needed help when I read your message.
And when you need help, you should respect other members by greeting them, which is the least you can do when you arrive in an unknown place.
Moreover, if you arrive on the forum without greeting anyone and without introducing yourself, your request may not be answered.
I therefore invite you to click on the button at the bottom right of your message and to modify your title and your message.
You can read the other previous messages from members to help you.
Thanks in advance and have a good day.

A simple Hello, it's better than nothing and introducing yourself with a few words would be excellent.
After try to explain what you want exactly.
For exemple, you want to build or flash a custom rom ?
It's really different!
