Hi,
Sorry for the long post but these are the events that took place.
Hope someone could enlighten me on the questions below. Thanks.
Questions:
1) What was the source of the problem, stuck at Samsung Logo (with Hydracore) ?
2) Is it safe to restore the first backup image (with Hydracore) with the existing CWM Manager or CF CWM Recovery ?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Problem: Stuck At Samsung Logo.
I was on stock LRQ / Hydracore Kernel 4.3b (std) and the phone was operating normally. A couple of hours ago, I did a nandroid backup with CWMR.. As usual, backup completed and phone rebooted. However, it was stuck at Samsung Logo but managed to go to Download & CWM Recovery.
Recovery processes:
Step 1:
- Recover last image backup with CWMR
- Clear cache & dalvik cache.
- Phone rebooted
- Stuck at samsung Logo.
Tried 3 times without avail, always stuck at the same place. So decided to reflash stock LRQ in Download mode.
Step 2:
- Reflashed stock LRQ with PC Odin
- Phone rebooted normally.
- Rooted phone with Super SU 0.95
- Phone rebooted normally.
- Installed Mobile Odin
- Reflashed Hydracore kernel 4.3b (std)
- Phone rebooted normally.
Not satisfied, tried Step 1 again a few times and the same problem; stuck at Samsung logo.
Step 3:
- similar process as Step 2 , ie, reflashed stock LRQ again.
- phone rebooted without problem.
The funny part is all my apps came back after boot, including the the crapwares from flashing LRQ.
Thereafter, upgraded firmware from LRQ to LRT via phone.
Also flashed a different safe kernel, CF-Root LRQ.
Step 4:
- flashed CF-Root LRQ with Mobile Odin
- phone rebooted without problem.
- made a backup with CWM Manager
I guess the backup got corrupted
When you restored the backup, all the apps got restored but there is something wrong in the backup and thats the reason the phone stuck at the boot screen
And when you flashed the rom using pc odin, you got those restored apps
could be a corrupted backup issue.
or was the nandroid made on the same kernel?
edit: not sure... but but ur post says ur phone was stuck after a nandroid backup .. or was it restore?
Thanks, it was after the nandroid backup, as written above. Any idea?

Read Step 4 (with CF-Root LRQ). No problem whatsoever until now.
Phone is operating even better now with LRT.
Thanks anyway.

Hey guys! First of all-sorry for being one of those people who post a question on thier first post.
I've been happily using TEAMHACKSUNG's ICS Build 15 for a couple of months with zero problem.
Restarted the phone a few hours ago in Recovery mode and cleared Cache+Dlavik Cache and after that, the phone couldn't boot. The Samsung screen shows first, then the CYANOGEN MOD screen, and Smasung again..in a loop.
Tried getting to Recovery mode, and nothing...same problem..
Download mode worked.
Please help me fix this situation. Hopfully without a full system wipe...\=
Thanks in advance! [=
Please help....I'm smartphone-less \=

I've flashed the stock CM7 Kernel and know I can get to recovery.
unfortunately, I don't have the rom's zip file on the internal card to flash it. I've managed to put the rom on the external sd card, but as it seems, there is no way to flash it through the external card.
I did a backup of my system thru CWM [don't have another one]. Thought of maybe flashing stock GB in odin, then CM7, then Teamhacksung's build 15, and then restore the backup I've just did.
Will it work or maybe there's a better idea?
Thanks!
Flash stock rom via Odin and the vf root

I've flashed CM9 build 15 through all the instructions, with a couple of wipes in between...
Then, restored the nandroid backup and when all done-a weird colorful stripes appeared and nothing. So I installed Build 15 again and the phone booted!
Only problem now is for some reason, Messages aren't working, aswell as Facebook. And all my contacts gone [not a problem, but still-they were supposed to restore after the nandroid..]
Did I do something wrong? Can I fix the messages problem somehow?
Thanks in advance!

Dude, download it http://ics.samsung-updates.com/trouble/FixRecovery.tar.md5 and flash it via odin at PDA , than go to recovery snd flash kernel again. And remember if u making a wipe at ics base rom, flash again kernel, its normal..

I've already managed to restore my rom with the nandroid backup. It's the messages that aren't working...
Well, I think I'll backup all of my stuff and try the Onecosmics rom...

I was recently using Stunner ICS but decided I wanted to go back to stock and start over. I downloaded the stock N7000XXKJ4_N7000OXXKJ4 firmware and installed it through odin. I did not receive any errors on the phone or on my PC. But now it seems like my phone is stuck in a boot loop. It just keeps showing the samsung boot animation over and over. I used the download jig to get into download mode and tried redoing the firmware twice already with no luck. One thing I did notice is that the jig is no longer resetting the binary counter. Does anyone have any other ideas or is my phone possibly bricked?
This is supposed to be in Q& A section... Anyways... Did you try wipe?

What worked for me having the same problem recently is go to Recovery mode (Volume up + home + power) and you'll see this funny kinda recovery, not at all CWM Do a data wipe/factory reset and then reboot.
Same thing happened with me yesterday, wipe in recovery fixed the problem

I'm sorry. Mods please move to appropirate section.
Thank you guys. I was beginning to freak out. I was trying to do the recovery menu but couldn't get it to work. I thought the recovery menu was also hosed but I had the wrong buttons. All is good now! thank you so much!
First thing you need to do if you want to get back GB, flash abyss 3.9 redpill kernel.
After that flash GB rom.
So later you can flash whatever kernel you want

Hanging at Samsung logo; can't boot into recovery; am I bricked???
Hi guys...
I've been semi bricked for about 18 hours now. And it's starting to look like it's a full-brick.
I had the latest Gingerbread ROCKET ROM on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, with the latest Franco kernel in place.
I thought I'd give the ICS version of ROCKET ROM a go. Flashed Abyss4.2 kernel without any hassles. Used 'advanced' to boot into recovery. Did my various wipes. Flashed the ICS Rocket Rom zip. And got caught up in the recurring boot-up, mostly upgrade, run, reboot cycle that's been described in many places.
Didn't panic.
Booted into recovery again, and flashed the ICS Rocket Rom again.
But this time, it wouldn't go past the SAMSUNG logo.
Still, I could boot into recovery.
Which I did.
And I tried to restore my Gingerbread build from Nandroid.
Tried it. But it hung on the Samsung logo again.
With one key difference... Now, no matter how much I try, I can't boot into recovery.
I *CAN* boot into 'download' mode. So I've used PC Odin to try and inject a rooted Gingerbread rom into the phone.
The instructions tell me to wait for the phone to reboot twice. Sadly, it tries its first reboot, and doesn't get past the Samsung logo. And that's where it hangs. No recovery mode either.
What shall I do??? Oh, woe is me. Etcetera.

UPDATE
--------------------------------------------------------
I found a version of Abyss 4.2 kernel in tar format. I flashed it via PC ODIN, and I now seem to have a phone that can boot again.
Not much more to report at the moment, cos the battery is on about 3%, so I'm charging it now before delving further. Will give more feedback once the battery's up and running again.
Here's a link to the Abyss file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1072122&d=1337500067
I tried all of this, was on stock ICS 4.0.3 and had it rooted.
I tried to restore a backup which was sadly on GB and then the restore of /data failed
I then tried to flash paranoid custom rom and it was successful but the phone never went any further than SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE GT-N7000 logo
I then Flashed a direct rootable stock rom via PC odin and all was well but the phone would never go any further than the logo before mentioned
I tried flashing AbyssNote kernel via pc odin but the CWM recovery menu kept on rebooting hence leaving me with not particular choice to select
Tried wiping data, cache mem, dalvik cache but no use and now i am on stock recovery menu. please help me out
i have this Samsung i9220 china i try to flash upgrade the firmware with Odin3 v1.85 . i got stock phone can't power non recover modem non booting logo , does anyone have any ideas ?
I was on 4.0.3. Don't remember the kernel tho. But I'm sure that it was an unsafe kernel.
This is what I did:
1. Made a nandroid backup using CWMRecovery
2. Installed Beats Audio Installer from Play Store
3. Didn't like it. Tried to restore to the nandroid backup as it had no uninstall option.
4. Phone restarted and bricked.
Now whenever I try to flash stock GB/ICS, Odin stucks at FACTORYFS
Any help?

Check it
Swyped From My Flavoured Juicy AOKP JB.
I don't getting it, which unsafe kernel do have option to Nandroid backup / restore.
Do you remember you have wipe anything before this?
Can you post full log what you getting while flashing
Just use different usb port and close anti virus, firewall, kies off.
Before doing this once try to flash hydracore kernel with recovery , if successfully flashed then wipe cache and data
If you get sign verified error flash using pc odin.

Ya.. Unsafe kernel and cwm.. Hmmm.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
In unsafe stock kernel there is no option for backup/restore.. so what is the kernel you are talking about... and did you by any chance wipe using the stock kernel
Maybe cf root kernel. As far as i know nandroid restore is not safe on it coz that process wipes too
Sent from my GT-N7000
Nandoid backup/Restore is safe on Cf root, just flashin a zip that contains bad script is risky on Cf root kernel.
The only possibilites is old Cf root kernel (v5.3/5), But that caries big title in RED that those kernel are not safe, its bad luck if OP have used that.

Hey, not sure if you have this fixed now? Sounds to me as if you need to start from a safe kernel THEN flash your ROM. Odin will probably give you a Yellow Triangle but I'll deal with that too. There probably isn't a quick way to this but I would try the following. It's lengthy, but having pulled my Note back from the numerous bricks I know it works -
- search and download the Abyss 4.2 kernel TAR file to your pc
- put Note into Download mode
- connect to Odin via pc and flash Abyss 4.2 TAR. Note will reboot
- this should give you access to Recovery (and on a SAFE kernel)
- flash your ROM (if you prefer Stock then I suggest Chrack LRQ - its awesome! By far the best Stock based ROM in my humble opinion)
- your phone should now boot, but with a yellow triangle on the boot screen
- download Chainfire's Triangle Away app from Play Store (or get the APK free from XDA)
- download Chainfire kernel from Chasmodo's Kernel Repository
- flash the kernel and reboot
- now run the Triangle Away app, this removes the triangle at boot
- to remove apps, get Toolbox (or pay for Pro version) by JRummy from the Store. its my personal favorite for removal / back up / restoring apps.
I hope this works, please let me know how you get on.
I might lose all contacts :crying: There is 290+ of them. I'm noob in this stuff and i need help!!
So before i was going to flash a rom i did a nandroid backup and i did restore (CMW Touch PhilZ 6.0.15). The same backup i just created to see if it works ( i don't know why). It was restoring files like normal ( about 10 mins). Then i restarted the phone. Samsung logo kept glowing about 10 mins and more but Galaxy Note didn't show homescreen. What it that? Bootloop? And then i tried flashing Slim rom 2.6v and it changed my recovery to CMW 5.5 or something similar with smaller touch buttons and smaller selection rows. Never experienced such things with S3. flashed about 15-20 roms and recovery was never changed. Why did rom change phone's recovery on my Note? But rom worked (homescreen, menus and etc as it should). Then i tried to do restore again. Did latest restore same wich i tried restoring before flashing (in that 5.5v wich was installed by new rom). Got error. Restarted. And my installed recovery 6.0.15 by PhilZ appeared again? Why this happened? Why doesn't this happen on S3 ( s3 always has same recovery as i flashed 10+ typed of different roms or is just this one?) So tried to restore latest point again. It was restoring about 10 mins like normal restore in time. But after restart it could not properly boot and show homescreen. Just showed Samsung glowing logo and phone was warm like CPU would be on load.
Btw. I have almost one month old backups too. 2 of them and they do the same thing after restore. Just glowind samsung logo. As i can remember ( not guaranteeing ) i restored from one of those backups because i was flashing a custom rom and wanted to go back.
Is it possible to get CONTACTS back from that backup? System settings? I will lose sooo much time without those contacs!!! :crying: Please help me!
What tools do i need to get back my stuff?
If there will be correct answer more than one person. The first one will get this gift. I will be back in about 10 hours.\
Hello.
Your contacts are stored here data.ext4.tar\data\data\com.android.providers.contacts\databases\ with *.db extension
Try to extract them and replace.

Problem is that my backups are 20mb. And one main backup with lots lots of folders. That's is how 6,0,15 recovery is made? Yes? And there is no tar file wich i could open with winrar.
Omg.. Just ultima flashed rom with that 5,5v recovery from Slim rom and now i can't even see samsung boot glowind logo. But works in download mode. What should i flash now!?
I'm going to sleep. Hope no nightmares about phones lol...
That's because you used .dup format to backup, so the backup folder is around 20MB as you said and blobs folder is around 800MB to 2GB, depends what ROM you used.
None of yours backup work?

Hi i have the i9001, I rooted the phone earlier and all was fine, I then went to install cwm via odin using the 2 files and it flashed them and the phone rebooted back into android where it then said pass on odin even though it timed out? i tried booting into cwm and was succesful so thought nothing of it and backed up my rom and then flashed real rom.
and now my phone will only boot into cwm and thats it and after while will turn off and reboot into cwm and it will keep doing this.
I have no sd card installed. and i still have the problem when i restore the stock rom.
Any help guys as this isnt my phone?
This happened to me on my I9000 so might work. My solution was to wipe data/cache partition/dalvik again in cwm, re flash new ROM and reboot, if back into cwm then repeat. Took me 3 repeats then booted fine. Happened as I upgraded from stock GB 2.3.6 to CM10.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yes that normal if you want to upgrade from GB zu JB. Because of first the change of the kernel respectivly the change to new CWM, and then for the new partitionlayout, you have to flash 2 or sometimes even 3 times the rom of your choice and then it should boot....!
