Hardware Keyboard Problems - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I loved this little phone and had it for a long time. That was two phones ago. I gave it up because the hardware keyboard was giving me problems.
Seeing there is now an Android ROM(s) I am excited to try using it again. I also decided that MAYBE I can fix the hardware keyboard by opening it up. Any advice on how to do that?
Thanks.

can i really change it??

Remember do this at your own risk! Also, Android isn't stable enough for daily use. Most apps, including Google Maps, would crash. But I still mess around with it.
EDIT: CoolRunnerII's CyanogenMod 7.2 is now stable enough for daily use if you don't mind the following issues:
-No WiFi with WEP encryption support.
-WiFi has trouble connecting automatically. (WPA)
-Lock Screen of Death when Screen-On/Screen-Off animations are enabled.
-Overheating when charging, possibly also during regular use.
-Market/Google Play sometimes have trouble updating. (Download the latest Google Apps and reinstall the Google Play APK via Root Browser as a system app.)
-Some apps might crash. (i.e. Google Maps)
-No USB mounting.
Have fun!

But icedroid v8 is almost stable for daily use... You can add the patches of coolrunner's compilation too to keep it updated (im working on a mix between icedroid v8 and coolrunner's compilation).
Market and auto mounting can be solved simply installing the proppers apk's.
PS: Sorry if you can't understand something, but my first language is spanish.

Google Reader on NookColor?

I've done a few searches, but have not found any info on my problem/question, so I hope some can help.
Ok so I downloaded Google Reader yesterday for my NC and it works great until I go into the story, in which it's the small cellphone sized screen. I've tried compatibility mode, which did nothing. So I'm wondering is there a fix for this? or maybe a altered version or something?
I guess this is one of those annoyances with the NC but I'm not really too worried about it, although it would be pretty cool to have my google reader feed fully working.
I have this issue too. Turning off compatibility mode works on some apps, but not this one. Hope there is a workaround! I've switched to Feedly in the meantime, it's pretty nice and has a Read It Later function built in.
Did you reboot after changing compatibility mode?
I use NewsRob for my google reader feed. Great app.
Yes, I tried restarting, it didn't help. I might change to a different app in the meantime if there is no fix.
I read somewhere that the problem is screen resolution. Something about CM7 running at 161 and Google Reader running at 160. Apparently CM7 needs to be at 161 to get Market to work. You can get a resolution switcher to go back and forth but you'll have to reboot every time you switch. There is no good solution. I use newsrob, which is good but not perfect either.

You can set the Nook to 160 and Market will still run, you just lose a *lot* of functionality such as the My Apps page and push install via web market. D7 Reader (would link, but new user code wants me to go spam 8 posts to unlock functionality) is my choice of replacement apps.
Is this a CM7 issue? I'm still running rooted and Google Reader works great. I was planning on switching to CM7 soon but having a non functional Google Reader app is almost a deal a breaker for me.

Unusable Google Maps ver 6.0.0- Help?

Hey everyone
Here is the problem: Recently I decided to update google maps to the newest version 6.0.0. This update made it simply useless for me. GPS locking is good, however scrolling around and zooming in and out is just plain terrible. Anyone know why this is? I tried to uninstall updates but it reverts back to 5.8.0 which is equally as bad. Is there anyway to improve Google Maps? I know that it has a lot of features however the usability is completely gone now for me it is very slow and laggy every time I start it.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !
I do not know ..
I also have a similar issue though I don't have a Galaxy S - I have a Galaxy Ace running BehradGH's Cyanogen mod RC2.2.
I often got very laggy maps (totally unusable) and also many "this application has become unresponsive" messages and the options to force close or wait.
I have had to roll back to 5.11 which I had a titanium backup of - this works fine/normally.
I really don't know what causes the issue, I just hope its fixed in the next incremental update.

In Device-Only GPS mode Google maps persists suggesting High accuracy mode

{This is almost certainly not specifically an Atrix HD/MB886 problem but I was not quite sure where else this might go. }
Since Google Maps was updated to anything after 9.0.0:
When using Device only GPS mode; Google Maps persistently suggests using high accuracy mode even
though GPS device only mode is working fine and has lock.
View attachment 3050442
The map pivots and centers to the correct location behind the prompt but the prompt must be obliged each time you refresh the GPS location. Does not stop after the first time you hit ignore as was the case in previous version. Only stops away if High accuracy mode is used.
Motorola Atrix HD/MB889, presently running CM11 MSM8960 jbbl 12/5/14 nightly with PA Gapps Nano 11/21/14 but also replicated in:
Stock JB AT&T, Dalvik,
CM11 recent nightlies with ART or Dalvik
PA Gapps Nano and Pico 11/21/14
Fresh minimally configured installations
Built out with my apps and settings
Does not occur in Google My Tracks or Google Earth
Workaround is to restore TBU of Google Maps 9.0.0
The only thing I can think of at this point is that this is related to the Google account with which the phone is associated although, in the short time since Google Maps 9.1.0 came out there have been 2 same version updates within 9.1.0 as well as an update to 9.1.1 and another to 9.1.2 so I'm thinking it's a Google problem. I've not captured logs (will do so at next fresh flash) nor have I configured the phone with a different primary gmail account but I'm hesitant to do that.
Fishing to see if anyone else is experiencing this. Do tell
Thank you.

The 9.x series seems to be causing issues all over the place. I've had to see users drop down to 8.4 on some devices to get it to work properly. It all comes down to the libs within it and whatever other changes they made outside of material look/feel.

Well then misery loves company, as it were, and thanks for that info. Even in the more rapid stream of updates to all things Google in accommodation of Lollipop, this Maps thing stands out, and it seems like they are chasing something. Funny thing is it might not even be a fix to this issue I've mentioned here.
Finally fixed with update to Maps v9.2.0.

[Q] Games fail to launch or are buggy?

I have problems with the following 3 games:
Puzzles & Dragons - Crashes instantly. Most likely because I am rooted.
Terraria - Crashes instantly. Could be the same thing? Haven't tested yet.
X-COM:EW - Crashes on load or comes with terribly buggy graphics.
Is this the same for anyone else who might have tried these games? Want to know before I spend time troubleshooting it.
check when was the last time they were updated. they could possibly not be ready for lollipop or for not ready for the n6.
I had the same problem.
PAD and our work Email GOOD
I resolved it was related to Super User Access being on.
I used SuperUser from ChainsDD and when the SU app was installed PAD an GOOD would crash if i removed the app everything ran fine.
I have read about some apps having root detection on them in Android 5.01 and issues with it picking up Super User 2.40 So far i haven't been able to find any way to resolve it other than uninstalling SU when i don't need it. Hopefully this points people with more skills then me in the right direction.

What are the current issue with stock Android 10?

It's time to clean my phone so I might as well update. I'm currently at Pie November update. My question is what are the main Android 10 issues in summary with our device and are there any serious hiccups for the average everyday user like me? How is the battery life like and such? I need an adequate answer not something like "it sucks" so if you're going to write something of that sort, please refrain from doing so. Thanks in advance.
DON'T UPDATE YOUR PHONE FIRST SEE THIS
Basic things work but I face issues many times. Most common Ghost Touch, Phone Freezes for 10-25 secs and then comes a popup System UI not responding and then wait or reboot for phone to get normal. Everything else works properly but update only if you can handle these on daily basis. I have 4/64 GB variant and my usage is somewhat basic to medium with 3-5 apps in memory and phone starts freezing. Also I would say compared to pie the battery loss has increased
I rooted and stripped out all the garbage (feedback etc.) including most of the Google stuff, and I have zero problems.
I would say, however, that battery life isn't the greatest but that may just be the phone and not the OS.

Could u pls add more detail what r those bloatware s.. planning to root soon
Wireless range and speed tanked (you can find kernel with pie driver as workaround. Most custom roms use pie driver as well).
Slow emmc that causes the well known frequent hangs. Even just typing on keyboard you often get stutters.
Settings suggestions won't go away.
Battery charging behavior changed: it charges at full speed with screen off, but with screen on it throttles to 1000ma or 500ma as battery temperature increases.
If you're gonna bother to reset and stay rooted, I'd suggest going custom rom already.
