I'm not at my computer right now, but google "vivid all in one root" and there is an awesome program that makes rooting very simple.

To unroot your vivid, all you have to do is relock your bootloader and then run a RUU

Oh crap, I'm sorry. I assumed you said "root" not "unroot". My bad.

Root on 2.3.3?

Uh honestly I'm not a noob and I'm not new to android and rooting. Kernels and all that. But this nexus one I can't find anything to root it on 2.3.3. I tried adb. I tried unlocking my boot loader to load cwm on it. Nothing. Any help?

Have you tried SuperOneClick?

I even tried running it on Compatibility mode and ran by admin.

Try SUPERBOOT for 2.3.3
Or else use the passimg method

If you got a command error, then there's something wrong with the command you entered, not with the phone. Most likely a typo, or file location problem...
Try again, and post the error...

Don't think you need to in ubuntu.

Well, i know this is commercial, but you can use my M7 Multi-Tool from Android Development Section, read the readme-linux in order to set up your drivers and all of those.
Hope this helps.
Will it work with the att version?

It should work on all HTC One devices, as the things you can do with the tool are pretty generic, some options will work even on other HTC phones.
So, try it out and report your experience.
I will when I can.
