Hi,
After playing a while with the Note i get the idea there is some central "registry" where settings are stored. (f.i. Language settings and references to language files)
Where is it??

android is based on linux and linux doesnot have a registry as windows... are u referring to build.prop?
Unix systems usually store their config files in /etc/ directory. On Android it's /system/etc/

Just trying to find where those fricking language settings are "stored", browsing like crazy with root explorer, but I find nothing
you have better chances asking what you would like to achieve

Ok.
I want an extra language on my note; Indonesian, aka Bahasa.
For the keyboard(s) and for the phone itself.
Not by flashing another rom, but by adding the language in my current rom.

ok rom wil be impossible I think.
Keyboard you should be able to change in keyboard settings.
Usually a csc rom, csc of the country you want language to, has that.
Not sure if it works, but if you add cscs to a rom, maybe other languages are "unlocked" There is a tutorial on how to do this, you have to search. Not sure if other languages are available then.
Roms like cm9 have a lot of the languages, you will miss s-aps, but gain languages
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
For keyboards, you can download custom keyboard apps from market.. most supports multi language including bahasa. For the phone(this will wipe/format your phone through, change your CSC to the CSC of your region.. mostly it'll have Bahasa on it.. Although I don't get it but if you've downloaded the stock firmware of your region and your CSC is correct to your specific region, then one of the languages that comes with that should have Bahasa on it.
I have swift key, has Bahasa.
Yes I could use another rom, with a csc with Bahasa.
But. I don't want that. I just want to add bahasa to my current rom.

just wondering... what's your current ROM now?
just remember, multi-csc is ROM based and in as much, if your ROM does not support multi language packs, your out of luck adding another language to it.
Just like what 'baz777', there are ROMS that support multi languages and there are that supports strictly pre define ones. Now if your ROM doesn't support multi ones, then you really can't add any other languages at all except flashing another ROM that supports multi languages.

DBT (N7000DBTLRT)
BTW, in /system/hdic I think there are the languages of the rom.
In the extracted "Indonesian" rom there are plenty more (see hdiclang.jpg) (hdicDBT.jpg is from the DBT rom) and a funny install_lib.bat
I translated an apk a couple times, I had to de-apk it, manually add some stuff in one file, then translate the whole stuff in the xml then repackage that. I guess its no different for a rom. Buts thats a guess.
Maybe havent tested it, the apks have the languages disabled some way. By making rom multi csc, they might be available. Its something you can try, but no guarantee it will work.
There is an open Europe rom that has all European languages I think, maybe there is an open Asian rom with same.
Good find btw maybe your on to something.

Ok, found it. More or less.
System languages are stored in framework-res.apk
So the theory is to decompile framework-res.apk from N7000DBTLRT, add the language bits from N7000DXLR5 and recompile framework-res.apk
But, I am not going to do it.
Too much work, too much risk...

I just rooted a Sprint HTC Hero (CDMA) with aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11] rom and it now doesn't display Korean text on websites, contacts, messages, everything.
Is there any way I can get Korean support back onto the device?
Pm aosp he's the dev of the Aosp rom and he should know how. Also check the Cm7 thread for support on the Cm7 rom they might be able to help you out. Good luck.

Are you looking for just Korean text support in the browser?
Or as an overall language for your phone?
i.e. all menus and text are in korean instead of english
If its the former, all you should need to do is install a different font in the /system/fonts/ directory
Try flashing the attached zip, it will replace a system/font with one that should have Korean support (I'm using this font and Korean shows up in my browsers just fine)
Edit: the update script I wrote IS edify so it'll work with cwm 3.x.x.x

I need the phone to display Korean in the menus, contacts, and as an input language (the Google Korean IME displays boxes instead of Korean characters).
For clarification, the phone is my girlfriend's and she has been bugging me about it being slow and laggy (it was) so I rooted to the aospCMod CM7 rom thinking she would like the bump in speed. It seems she liked it, but didn't like the no Korean support, so at the advice of a member at androidforums, I flashed the aosp 9.9.2 (2.2.1)

If you want I can compile a CM7 rom for you from source that includes the full Korean support/language under Language & keyboard settings.
In the mean time though, flashing that font zip I made should do the trick. It works fine in the notification menu, korean IME, and with typing messages.
Edit: flashing the latest nightly 84/85 should also work, I believe that has the same font.ttf in it
Edit2: the 3rd picture I just attached is what I mean by full lang support under Lang&Key settings - in this case it's Italian but as I said I can compile one for you with Korean
Awesome. I'll give it a shot once she starts hating the aosp heh...
So I just reboot into recovery and install zip from sd card?

Hi Guys,
I just want to check if is there a way to flash touchwiz framework to an AOSP ROM for some samsung applications to work? In my SGS2 before, there is a Touchwiz.zip that can be flashed to MIUI ROM to have Touchwiz added to the actual ROM.
Thank you
I would really like to know that too.. Im really interested to try aosp rom (becouse tablet UI), but I personally doen't like aosp calendar and clock apps..
Open the ROM.zip
go to /system/apps/
insert the TouchWiz.apk in apps folder *MIND IT dont give spaces btween app names as Touch Wiz.apk it will give FC Error alwayz*
no need to remove any other launcher included over there
JUST flash this rom and BINGO.....................
Ive no idea of whether we need to fix permissions on new inserted .apk files
Take that risk PLEASE and LEMME noe if u get any errors
Is there any updates with this?

To make it work, you need all tw framework and its not only in those tw-framework-res but in almost all bits. And so it makes it extremely difficult to port and easy task would be to flash a tw based rom. Much easier

Ok, thanks!
I've got a GT-i9305 on UK's EE network.
I'd like to try out a different ROM (for example LiquidSmooth, Paranoid, CM) but I'm not sure whether or not I'll still have the (pretty awesome) HD Voice.
Do I need to look for this feature set to be specifically working with the custom ROM or would there be evidence to make a safe assumption that they'd all work?
Thanks!
Same here
Im searching for same thing. Particularly for the Pandoriam ROM.
Just love the HD voice effect and dont want to give it up
Well, I'm using Pandoriam for a while now and HD Voice is working fine. Your stock/provider CSC is a key. Most custom rom's will change it to whatever else but yours. You can use CSC changer app but it will wipe everything from your phone!! Factory Reset is required after you change CSC code... This app doesn't work on single CSC ROMs
There's a simple trick to make it work without Factory Reset and should work on most custom ROMs
Use your current ROM zip file to work with. To extract use Winrar or anything else
1. Find and Copy your CSC files from here(updated 19.03) (4, 5, 6 or 7 files)DO NOT FLASH YOUR PHONE WITH THIS FILE it's just archive
Code:
contents.db
customer.xml
default_workspace.xml**
language.xml**
others.xml
sales_code.dat
features.xml**
**sometimes not included
2. Replace original files in "system/csc" with yours
3. Edit "CSCVersion.txt" in System and change current 3 digit code to your provider
4. Edit "SW_Configuration.xml" in System (use script editor like Notepad++ etc) and change ONLY the 3 digit code to your provider
5. Re-pack and re-flash ROM. NO wipe needed!
Done!
For example, flashing with Pandoriam ROM changes CSC to OPSALI5 and HD Voice was disabled for me.... now I've got H3GALI5 and it's enabled!!
You can test if your phone/branded ROM has WB-AMR enabled by dialling: *#197328640# and pressing 1(UMTS) then 8(WB-AMR status)

If you cant get djembey's guide in post #3 to work then just use CSC changing app as he also said in post #3. Thats how I did it and it works a treat,. You've just got to cop the factory reset on the chin. Make sure you're contacts, calender, etc are freshly synced and maybe do a batch backup with Titanium Backup just in case.
In playstore itrs called 'Samsung Galaxy S / S2 / S3 CSC' by Manniakk.

Yeah, no chance on CM.... I've updated my guide yesterday. Have a look again. Multi CSC files included
I made this "mod" (in quotes because it basically is stock samsung rom ) using greek latest stock img.
It basicaly is stock gingerbread, everything is the same except:
-Swipe-to-remove Notifications
-Deodexed
-Some build.prop tweaks
There are two versions. One with all stock system apps and one with removed bloatware (IN MY OPINION) apps.
Some apps removed in second version are:
-MyFiles is removed (you can use ES explorer if you want.)
-Email and Gmail are also removed. Gmail gingerbread version sucks (wish they would make it just like ICS+ version :/).You could try K-9 mail.
-Thinksfree Office is also removed. Perhaps use QuickOffice?
-Music Player is removed (perhaps use google play music instead?)
It is NOT rooted, so perhaps you want to flash superuser.zip.
I upload this as a rom and not as a separate SystemUI.apk and framework.jar because it needs deodexed rom, and I think this will make your life easier. If however you want SystemUI.apk and framework.jar, ask and I will upload them separately.
HOW TO INSTALL
Before Flashing Over Stock Rom, Unmount /system !!!
Basically for NFC users you have to intsall stock rom and then flash the zip.
For non-NFC users, install stock and the flash and do whatever you would do if you installed Peter's ROM (don't know if it works though. I haven't tested!)
For Arabic language support, flash this after installing ROM (thanks to @ahmedadd for patch):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50658678&postcount=29
Squadzone's kernel works for me, so if you like, you could flash it, but always at your own risk.

I don't see the reason why I should add screenshots. As I said it is same as stock, only that it has swipe notifications. You want screenshot while wiping notification?
About "My Files" and "Music Player" I removed them because as I said I removed apps I always uninstall when I install stock Rom.
Well, Perhaps I could upload one with My Files and Music Player. Perhaps add Email too if you want it.
Finally about arabic language I do not know how to add it. Perhaps @ItachiSama could help with that? I think I did "compiled" with Samsung sources, as what i basically did was to extract stock image, modify apks and then pack everything into zip. Didn't really compiled anything

I don't see the reason why I should add screenshots. As I said it is same as stock, only that it has swipe notifications. You want screenshot while wiping notification?
About "My Files" and "Music Player" I removed them because as I said I removed apps I always uninstall when I install stock Rom.

Yea I realised that you said it's stock as soon as I posted the reply
I would like that swype to remove animation but I really like my current statusbar. And I cannot implement it myself because I always get an error while recompiling .jar files :S

It seems fine.. When you click on link you should see 2 .zip files.
Click "BleachedRom" zip, it will say it cannot be opened, but in the down-right corner there is a button to download the zip.

Just upoaded a new, all_apps version, as you asked..
@bleached, have you any problem with Google+?
On stock I've kinda strange notifications problems (on 5 notifications 2 are shown, with a refresh 3, after checking 'already seen' ones the missing 2 -.-)
If you haven't, I can easily shift to your stock

Yeah I have problems too. Sometimes bell is grey (indicating I have notifications) but no notifications are shown :/

I hope you edited the framework.jar of my ROM, and not the stock one, or took it from somewhere else, because then swipe-to-remove notifications will crash. If you edited mine and everything is fine, tell me so I can link your patch post in my first post
