To moderators.. yes I know this is in the wrong forum.. because we have no forum for the Lenovo IdeaPad S2110.
*** THE USUAL I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BREAK/BRICK OR OTHERWISE DESTROY YOUR DEVICE GOES HERE ***

Thanks efrant! I put some alternatives up as well. :good::good:

Well this didnt work for me. I plugged it in and it found the ideatab and android in hardware manager. It showed up in Other Devices > Android. When I go to update the driver and point it to the driver folder in the zip, it says windows cannot find a driver and it will not install a driver. So I cannot get adb working on this computer. Same thing goes for my work laptop.
I do not have it docked, I have tried multiple USB ports, I have usb debugging going. I have rooted 4-5 android devices in my time. For whatever reason, the driver will not install.
Note: Im running windows 7 64 bit

Installing the drivers manually
You'll need to manually install the drivers. Follow these instructions to install the driver:
1) Click on "Update Driver"
2) Click on "Browse my computer for device software"
3) Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
4) Select "Have Disk"
5) Select "Browse"
6) Navigate to the "Drivers" folder that you downloaded
7) Install and ignore Window's prompts about the driver not being signed.
Hope this helps.

I personally think it is a great tablet/keyboard combo. I like it more that the OG Asus Transformer I sued to have.
The down side is there is little to no accessories and development for this thing. So that sucks.

Although I don't own one, there are some pretty positive reviews on Amazon for the 16GB model with keyboard combo.
Not having a microSD slot or a GPS were what made me skip this model.

Build quality seems fine. A little plasticky at time, but good. I live the keyboard. SOO much easier to dock than my OG Transformer. I do hate though that the browser dedicated key opens up the Android Browser instead of what is set as the system default browser (for me it is chrome). There are a fee small software bugs like pressing the home button when already on the home screen crashes the launcher. I kind of like the launcher overall though.
Tablet is pretty silky. Screen is very pretty. I got mine for a sweet deal (lenovo employee pricing + lenovo partner pricing discount due to my job).

No gps for me was not a deal breaker. And having the SD card slot in the keyboard is nice. I use a converter and put my microsd in that slot.

[ALPHA 2 - DEC 22] Arch Linux ARM + Gnome 3

Arch Linux ARM for TouchPad ALPHA 2
Run pacman -Syu and reboot for a MUCH better, perfect touchscreen!
Now with Gnome 3!
The purpose of this build is to be lightweight and to bring together the community to package up a distribution for the TouchPad and share our findings with good documentation and easy code, and to demonstrate what is working and what is not.
The following is the official Arch Linux ARM forum thread: http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1948
All the documentation will be in text files and in the README here: https://github.com/crimsonredmk/ArchLinuxARM-TouchPad

Read the README here: https://github.com/crimsonredmk/ArchLinuxARM-TouchPad and make sure you understand what works and what does not.

Issues
No webcam. No sound. No Bluetooth.
Changelog
Dec. 22 - Gnome 3 is out with the 2nd alpha build. Touch support is a little bit better and xinput_calibrator is included in the menus. Gnome Shell is not working yet, but if you've been avoiding Gnome 3 on a desktop because it's too tablet-centric...well...no more excuses. If you've installed alpha 1, you can either reformat with mkfs.ext3 /dev/store/arch-root and follow the rest of the guide, using this new alpha build instead. Also, the boot logo has been confirmed working.
Dec. 18 - Huge new release for developers and people who like being frustrated. I forgot to install fonts, so pacman -Ss ttf for a list. Also, you need to tell wicd to use "eth0" as the wireless interface in the preferences. Also of importance - we've renamed the LVM partition to be arch-root. The new kernel must be installed to use this new root. If you want to see our logo, don't set verbose on and download the .tga file from our Github and stick it in /boot.
Nov. 28 - Moboot 0.3.5 is out! This means the public can install and use Arch Linux ARM on the TouchPad, natively. Read the README!
Finally
cant wait for a fully functional native Archlinux port (mostly, i want a touchscreen keyboard while waiting for the one i ordered to come)
finally DD
seems like we can now only see more and more great things to happen
would be impressed so see some progress on dynamic binary transmission or what it's called too..
did u use lvm or what jcsullins was talking about?
Would this be a triple boot? anyway when I have Ubuntu chrooted in cm7 a2 and a3, it always fails apt-get and apt-get update, so no GUI for me :/ any help?

Wow, this is great! I'll try it out on my Touchpad when I get home since its just sitting in a room doing nothing... haha
If I can turn it into an Arch PC using this, it would be great! Thanks for your hard work!
I didn't notice that Googling moboot 0.3.4v would bring up a total of 2 results. You guys should really wait for 0.3.5 to come out. Don't bother anyone to hurry up with it.

OK. Done.
Note that this release only adds the "verbose boot" option (see README
for details). It does NOT add the boot from lvm or general config support.

Hell thats awesome.. Please someone make a video of arch running on the TouchPad.. I don't have a touchpad to test it on right now and I am dying hard to see how it runs..

Are ETA's acceptable from these devs? If so one would be appreciated
Hell, I want it yesterday, but by the same token, this gives me more time to bank a bigger donation when it does drop.
Btw, devs, make sure there is a donate button available.

There is a big donate button in the homepage of ArchlinuxARM, im pretty sure thats were you should send your money.
Well since moboot 0.3.5 is out, what are you guys waiting for? Read the README but use the new moboot. Get on Amazon and buy the cables first, then with any extra money, well, the donation link is right!
Edit: We don't need to recompile anything so you can do this right now.

Thanks again crimsonredmk for the hints about Moboot's verbose mode, helped getting Funtoo up-and-running as well .
I didn't hear about this USB keyboard trick before your post, I just ordered some cables, it will help as well...
I hope I'll have some time soon to get the X video driver and touchscreen working!
Not sure of the relevance at this point but if you do have a powered USB hub, You can skip the power Y cable thingy (cant remember name). You still need the host adapter as it has the pins set for sending power to the usb on the touchpad. If nothing else, it will save you a few bucks. Im cheap so its what Ive been using during all testing and running of the chroot and general usage. Hopefully bluetooth isnt too far away as I have a few small BT keyboards now they work really well for a general usage KB that is as portable as the touchpad.

Nexus 7 Shipped with Test ROM

Short Story:
----------------
Yesterday I bought Google Nexus from my local MacMall (Chicago), and I was pretty stoked. The first thing I noticed upon opening it was that the box had been re-sealed. Then I tried to turn it on and the battery was dead. I thought that was kind of unusual, but not unheard of. Then I charged it and turned it on...
Below are pictures describing what I saw. I am going to exchange the device this afternoon. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen something like this and would anyone be interested in playing around with this ROM. I would imagine it is a proprietary ASUS build, but they sold it to me so it's mine now. I would be happy to post a link to the ROM, but I don't know how to extract it. (I'm sure there is a post explaining that, please direct me to it).

Do NOT return this! This is a very good find! Maybe if you could unlock the bootloader and make a Nandroid backup in CWM...
Perhaps stick it on ebay as a Buy It Now for the price it would cost you to order another one...
That way if it is truly interesting to someone, they have to opportunity of putting up (or shutting up).
No do not unlock it yet, it will erase everything. Do a system image dump. There is a toolkit in the developers section. Post it in there.
Also i noticed its running ICS

We can build AOSP from source, we don't need this build for anything at all.

I thought someone here might want this, but I have to return it today (it is for my wife). I'm "good with puters" so I can follow instructions well, but I've never rooted or jailbroken anything in my life. I'm at work so I don't have lots of time to search forums for the proper instructions. If someone really wants this, you have about two hours to post instructions for me to backup or image or whatever it is called a copy of this ROM before I return it. I'll check back every five.
I am downloading the Root Toolkit now

I'm not really sure what you mean by "raise issues or faults". It's hard to show, but when I drag my finger accross the screen, it draws a line with many dots and H and V coordinate lines. That was a horrible description. Basically, it looks like it is mapping the touchscreen feedback and then rendering a line. The line quickly disappears. The white and red boxes at the top of the screen acually have numbers written on them and those numbers change as you touch the screen. There is also like a red Frame the flashes on the screen when I select an app. I will try to post some some pictures/maybe a video. My phone sucks though so the quality wont be that good.

It appears to have test apps not included in AOSP.
You should try to cold boot to recovery from the bootloader and see if it'll go without being hooked up to a computer. Maybe the bootloader is different than production.
Can't he try flashing the stock rom over this? If there are no hardware faults, why risk getting one that might be defective?
What would devs need from this ... This isn't a Samsung / HTC device

Please do a nandroid. Tests have shown ICS has better raw performance than JB. I would love to see an ICS ROM on these at least to just test it out.

I really hope someone can dual boot the M8 between the Android and Windows.. That would be great for Windows phone operating system in general. People will get to try them and realize that they aren't that bad at all (as compared to what they used to be).

I love Android and Windows Phone. I have found that as Windows machines get smaller (My Dell venue pro 8, for instance), they are making my phone more of a messaging and talking device again. It's funny how this works. I'd love to get in on the WP action.
Unless they announce a WebOS option... we can dream, right?

I would love to see what WebOS would be like on a device like this. My first smartphone was a Palm Pixi, and the interface was wonderful. It got really slow with time, and full data wipes didn't help anymore.
But that's just wishful thinking.
Back on topic, tho. Can anyone weigh in and comment on how likely it is that we'll be able to install the version of Windows Phone that was just released on our Sprint/Android versions?

not really a leak....it's official...http://blog.htc.com/2014/08/htc-one-m8-for-windows/
exclusive for Verizon....not interested....Android FTW!
No, I'm not converting to WM either, even if it was to come to Sprint. However, I have never even seen WM live in person, and I wouldn't mind giving the Rom a flash.
Same here. I wouldn't buy it but if there was a port for Android m8 I would definitely flash the rom
I've suggested to HTC to make a dual boot for their top phone. So that, no matter which you buy, you can switch as you like. I guess it's gonna benefit MS more than HTC,but it could be a nice push for sale of the phone because it's just another unique feature that nobody really bothered to do.
I've used the WP 7 for a long time and like that very well. Since now the M8 takes SD card, the storage space is less a concern, so makes this even more workable.
IMO the best will be dual boot, so that you can choose on bootup, the second will be a flash, which would be harder to change. But either way, it'll be very neat.
Was just thinking the exact same thing
I've seen the buzz lately about the m8 Windows version, and when it finally clicked that they both had the same hardware I started digging around to see if I could find info on a possible port.
I did find this YouTube video, posted today, but the poster didn't give much information, only a link to what appears to be a ROM file https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_FHG7Uq3a8
Maybe someone more experienced than myself could look into the .zip to see what's going on in there or maybe help me find out where it came from - I'm sure this link didn't pop up from nowhere if it is truly legit.

resolution problems in gaming when flashing a new ROM

Can anyone help me please? I have a Galaxy tab S2 9.7in SM-T810 model and when I flashed a new rom on it, I no longer have any control over the resolution resulting in me not being able to play any games without them being super slow, is there any fix or work around that anyone has? I don't have my tab with me at work.. Its a rectangular window in the center screen that says; Resolution Changer has stopped with the option to close app..... Just like the games that wont work.. I was able to grant it root access on the initial run but the program goes to open and just disappears and that prompt window I mentioned above pops up.. My ROM comes with Majisk Root not SU USER. Could that be a problem?

Hackintosh?

OK, I understand that there is many "Hackintosh" video guides out there to be found...
Would it be worth my time to create a step by step guide?
Or would I be wasting my time considering XDA Computing Fourm is not what the majority come here for?
Cheers ;0
When I look for a guide/walk-though, my Google/DuckDuck search starts with xda (then normally github) before a general search.
I do not think it would be a waist of time to write up a step by step guide.
It looks like there is some interest already.
macOS on my Lenovo G400 xdaThread - Link
This is a new part of xda and the more involvement the bigger it will grow.
The little bit I have read about Hackintosh, there always seems to be issues making everything work.
A good guide and general discussion thread would be a big help.
I would not be surprised if more than a few xda members are hackintosh users.
Cheers.

I agree!!.. XDA Computing forums might be small right now but I believe it is going to grow super quick...
I will need to do some poking around and see what the best options are for making a guide
There is so many different PC hardware that may or may not be compatible with Hackintosh..
now we have a full guide on opencore website
I have a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus elite running the latest version of Monterey with OpenCore bootloader. I would be interested in anything hackintosh on XDA

Hi, I'm interested in getting Mac Osx running on my HP Notebook - 15-ay137cl . I have had a couple other laptops running osx but can't seem to figure this one out to get to the install screen. I have never used OpenCore but that seems to be the thing to use. any help to get started and help with the kexts I might need would be great. Thanks for your time.

Read dortania guide for kaby lake first, then configure config.plist to make it boot then fix the persist problems ( sleep, wifi, bluetooth,...). Make a post on xda so i can help you.
