Hey guys,
This is the very first ROM for the Adam! It basically is a pack of gapps + the new market + some other little goodies with the update for the Adam from the 4th of Feb.
Features:
GApps
Root
Market 2.2.11
bash
Flash
It has NOT been tested, however, it should work fine. I'll test when I get my Adam (14th Feb shipping date).
If you would like anything added please reply here and I shall try add it for you .
PS: Until I can get this flashing 100% this will be PixelQi only, do NOT try flash it on an LCD model. Thanks.
How to:
1. Extract the rar to your SD.
2. Boot into recovery and install update.zip from SD

Can you try again with adb logcat as it boots please? And did you try with a data wipe?

Sure, in your sdk folder just use cmd or terminal and do "adb logcat". Then put the output in a text format and upload it here, and if you don't mind, could you please try BETA0.2?
Thanks.

Just replace modified boot.img with original one and it will flash. You won't get root, but gapps will work.
nice... ill give it a shot after work.
thank you!
The title says it all, anyone experiencing similar issues ?
Running 2.3.3 thru manual updates with a stock recovery, then after everything was done I fastboot flashed amon RA's recovery and it keeps getting replaced with the stock recovery ... Not quite sure when it's doing it, working on that now.
Not sure, but I think this will happen as long as you're not rooted?
Stock 2.2 did the same thing to me...
I'm rooted via flashing Superuser zip from ChainsDD...

Hmmm...yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about lol.
Seems like there was some kind of fix for this in 2.2 though...maybe Superboot? Maybe that's why I'm thinking it has to do with rooting? Think something has to change in boot.img?
EDIT: Have you tried using the rooted stock ROM in the dev section?
If you are upgrading to a non-modified stock rom, it will overwrite your custom recovery.
You need to flash a rooted stock rom to keep your custom recovery.
Edit: Oh and you need an unlocked bootloader to fastboot a custom recovery.
Thanks for your help guys, I guess I'll just flash one of the stock but rooted roms now that they're available... Don't know why I thought that would work come to think about it, it was hopeful thinking at best lol...
Thanks again.
Just look up how to stop this from happening on stock froyo roms.
A bone stock rom with just root will do the same thing that your current rom is doing.

That is because there are two files in a stock ROM (/system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh) that flash the stock recovery every boot. You need to delete (or rename) those two files after flashing a stock ROM, and then re-flash your custom recovery.

If you don't mind my asking what are the commands I can use to delete these files? I'm in the process of looking up how to do this but wanted to ask as well.

The easiest way would be to use Root Explorer, mount the /system partition as r/w, navigate to each of the two directories, long-press on the files and click delete.
Or you can do it in a terminal emulator: open a terminal and type the following commands:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p
rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Just flash this from recovery...

Not sure. The reason I do is because those are the two files that are added every time there is an update. Hence those are the two files I delete...

None really. It just seems weird to arbitrarily delete a file that does nothing on its own.

Because it's bloat. Those are the two files used to reflash the stock recovery on each and every boot. They have no other purpose. Why keep one? Or the other? Why not just get rid of them both?
Hi to all.
I have a rooted Incredible S (through HTCDev), stock ics rom and S-ON.
Is there a way to install a modded kernel on stock rom?

Instructions for S-OFF Users
Simply flash XS-ICSvX.X.zip in your favourite recovery!
Instructions for manual flashing (HTCDev.com unlocked S-ON Users)
Thanks to MrToastbrot for instructions
Step 1: Download the XS-Kernel.zip, then open the Zip on your computer and extract the file mkbootimg.sh in "kernel"
Step 2: Open mkbootimg.sh in a texteditor like notepad++ or notepad, then edit the following in line 3:
Code:
output /tmp/newboot.img
to
Code:
output /sdcard/newboot.img
Step 3: Save your edited file and place it back in your zip, copy your modified zip to your phone-sdcard and install it in the recovery. Then reboot your phone and connect it to pc and take the newboot.img from the root of the sdcard.
Step 4: Now reboot your phone into bootloader and flash it via fastboot flash boot newboot.img
Step 5: Once you phone has booted, mount the system as r/w using something like ES file explorer or Root explorer, then type the following:
Code:
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
Set permissions to rw-r--r--, reboot and enjoy!
Sweep2Wake: Q&A
Q: How do I disable / enable the feature?
A: Two options
Change the value in the file /sys/android_touch/sweep2wake to either 0 for disabled, 1 for enabled and 2 for enabled with backlight. This will be reset upon rebooting.
If your ROM supports init.d scripts, then flash the zip to enable or disable, this will stick over a reboot.
Q: It keeps taking screenshots when I lock the screen!?
A: This is due to an incompatibility with this feature and the native screenshot in Sense. TO stop the screen shots, you need to edit your build.prop and change the property ro.htc.framework.screencapture to false, and then reboot.

I followed the guide as it is, i modified the file as the guide says, and there's no newboot.img file on sdcard.

Your modded zip is working on my phone but It's s-off. I found the newboot.img on sdcard root. Run your flashable zip again then go to tools>copy recovery.log to sdcard. It will be in your 4ext directory. Have a look and see if you can spot any errors. Upload here if you need any help.

I'm not on stock Rom, so my newboot.img will not work on your phone because it has a different ramdisk. You might want to try changing your recovery to 4ext touch.
