Welcome to the Linuxonandroid thread for everything Atrix.
For more information on Linuxonandroid itself check out our main thread HERE or our website HERE
This thread has two reasons for being, there first is the Atrix has quite a few issues with our project and now that we got our hands on a Atrix its time to squish all the bugs, and we need a place to keep track of the bugs, and post possible fixes for you guys to test. As well as keep you up to date with our progress on killing the bugs.
The second point to this thread is (once I get my hands on a lapdock) we will be creating webtop versions of our supported distros, where ever possible. And these will be for the Atrix so it makes sense for them to be in an Atrix thread!
On with the thread
BUGs!
Known Bugs
If you have a bug with our project on the Atrix and its not here please post about it!
*Atrix displays a grey screen on Ubuntu images
*As with all tegra devices unity does not render
Bugs being worked on
Here are the bugs we are currently working on, any test fixes will be posted here to
Bugs squished
Bugs that we have killed will go here
Please only post in this thread if you have a bug to report (either with the main project or webtop version), or something to contribute towards to the project (perhaps a fix for a bug). This is a development thread and should be kept that way
Webtop Version
Here will go the webtop version of linuxonandroid distros.
Work on this will start as soon as I get my hands on a lapdock, I have spoken with a few webtop devs and have a good idea of how to get started, just need the hardware
Reporting bugs and fixes etc.
First and foremost this thread is not for questions, if your have a question about the project in general use out main thread HERE. If you have questions about the Atrix bugs or the webtop version use the discussion thread HERE
Bug report
When posting a bug report please do it in the following structure:
[BUG]
(what the bug does)
(how you came across the bug)
(any other information you think might be useful)
e.g
"[BUG]
Unity dosnt seem to render correctly in the large ubuntu image.
I am running Stock 2.4.6 and havnt seen this issue with any other image."
Of cause the more info you can give the better.
Fix report
When posting a bug fix please do it in the following structure:
[FIX]
(what bug this fixes)
(what the fix is)
(any more information like how you found the fix etc.)
e.g
"[FIX]
this fixes the issue with firefox jumping about the screen.
Simply tie firefox down with some rope and it will behave.
This of cause is a fake fix "
Of cause once again the more info the better.
Yeaaahhhh.
Good news.
Actually I use WebtopMod, a chroot of Debian Squeeze .img launched via Webtop.
If you could make possible to launch directly without chroot, you'll be my Guru
[Sorry to post here, I didn't see thread in 4G General]
Woot Woot!! Would absolutely love to get Ubuntu 12.04 working with our Atrix devices. Even in image form. With the addition/alternative of Webtop integration, that would be very impressive indeed. I will be sure to contribute my testing as I have a lapdock but have abandonded Webtop for your image alternative as I have moved to a CM type ROM over the Moto Stock mods that are required for Webtop functionality.
Let the games begin!
i hope its noob friendly!

As much as humanly possible
And where things get a little tricky, I will include very detailed step by step instructions
one question, is this using the soft or hardfloat versions (of ubuntu for instance)?

My project this weekend is to try this out in its variations and hopefully provide feedback. Let me know if you want to test anything particular to the Atrix.

where will you be getting the compatible hardfloat proprietary drivers for the atrix?
and how will you implement softfloat android and hardfloat linux?

Hello and thanks for helping us get a full Ubuntu image running on the Atrix 4g!
I realize this is not the norm, but I am dual booting NottachTrix 1.3.1 (emmc) and Neutrino V2.9 GT (SD card).
I downloaded the 12.04 full image here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/12.04/
and then installed and configured it in internal memory using the instructions given in Complete Linux Installer (free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid&hl=en and android-vnc-viewer (free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.androidVNC&hl=en.
While booted to Neutrino, I can get VNC to load the “ice-wm” window manager, but when I post-install LXDE and configure the (hidden) startup file: .vnc/xstartup with the commands “/etc/X11/Xsession” and "lxsession", I get "Segmentation Fault" in both cases (see log file further below).
NottachTrix just returns grey screen.
Is LXDE pre-installed in the image file? If not, I wonder what improvement could be made by doing so.
Anyway, here is my xstartup file (/data/local/mnt/home/ubuntu/.vnc/xstartup)
Code:
#!/bin/sh
# xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
#x-terminal-emulator -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
#x-window-manager &
# Fix to make GNOME work
# export XKL_XMODMAP_DISABLE=1
/etc/X11/Xsession

+1 on epinters CM10 22/09. The Ubuntu 10.10 image works fine though.
Zak- do you still have to have terminal emulator installed as a user app?

Sorry for knocking a 9 month old Thread , but I am trying to make Cifs Manager work for my Gflex.
i'm running Android 4.4.2 , Kernel 3.4.0 Build KOT49I.D95520a .
I've Downloaded the Kernel Source tar.gz from LG : LGD955_Gflex_Kikat_V20a_Kernel.tar.gz
And I just cannot seem to produce a cifs.ko module that is succesfully loaded with insmod on the device.
I keep getting this in dmesg: no symbol version for module_layout
I was trying to use this thread for instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531407&page=3
and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531407&page=3
@TheWizardOfROMs Maybe if you have some time you can give some useful advice
@ forrestgump2000 How did you do it for LG G2 ? It should be almost the same for the Gflex, could you perhaps lend a hand? Please?
I am trying to build it on Mac OSX , installed with macports gcc4.9 , using CROSS_COMPILE=/Downloads/android-ndk-r10c/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.9/prebuilt/darwin-x86_64/bin/arm-linux-androideabi- , ARCH=arm,SUBARCH=arm
make EXTRA_CFLAGS=-fno-pic M=fs/cifs Tells me about some versioning , then I run make modules before to create that file and then it doesn't complain.
Running out of ideas..... (will try a Ubuntu VM soon if nothing works...)
Thank you!
2nd really need this for off device storage
Work documentation
I've sent an e-mail to LG , let's see what happens....

Dear LG OpenSource Team,
I am currently trying very hard to compile a new module for my current kernel:LGD955_Gflex_Kikat_V20a_Kernel.zip
My work environment is the following:
Vmware Ubuntu 14.01 LTS , gcc 4.8
I have unpacked your kernel source and tried the following:
cp arch/arm/configs/z-open-com-perf_defconfig .
make z-open-com-perf_defconfig prepare headers_install scripts ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-androideabi- O=build KERNELRELEASE=3.4.0-perf-g551cabf
make menuconfig ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-androideabi- O=build KERNELRELEASE=3.4.0-perf-g551cabf
Chosen Network File System Support -> CIFS (M) and saved.
make modules ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-androideabi- O=build KERNELRELEASE=3.4.0-perf-g551cabf
adb push fs/cifs/cifs.ko /data/local/modules/
chmod 644 /data/local/modules/cifs.ko
insmod /data/local/modules/cifs.ko gives this Failure Message : … failed (Exec format error)
dmesg has this message inside: no symbol version for module_layout

SlateKit is a drop-in replacement of Android UI stack,
to help makers building custom tablet UI, by using Qt/QML, JavaScript and Chromium.
Screenshot: imgur.com/Sdai8zc
Today we announce the first technical preview of SlateKit Base for Nexus 7 (2013),
the platform-specific port, alone with other UI components like SlateKit Shell, LockScreen and Keyboard.
Prerequisite
Nexus 7 “razor” [2013] (WiFi)
Android 4.4.2 (KOT49H)
rooted and adb shell access
Installation
Download the image: goo.gl/ybYVO1 (146.7 MB)
Unzip files to /data, make sure busybox has executable permission
Start the UI by:
Code:
./chroot.sh
Technical details
SlateKit Base essentially consists:
a minimal Ubuntu root filesystem (Trusty/armhf)
Qt 5.2.1 and Oxide 1.0 (Chromium content API wrapper)
libhybris for hardware acceleration
hwcomposer QPA from Mer project
What's next?
Theoretically this rootfs works for all Android 4.4 system with HW composer 1.1/1.2,
so I'll try to enable it on other SoC and make an installer.
If you find this interesting or useful, welcome to join the project on github.com/penk/SlateKit,
and ping me on Twitter @penk or [email protected]
Happy Hacking!

You'd think you'd at least post this in the correct section...
This is the 2012 Nexus 7 forum. Wrong section.
Hey im looking for help here i have a project and need help because im stuck. And this community is the best. So here goes.....
The project is this:
I want to install kali linux (preferably net hunter) on this tablet that i got from a friend who just got out of prison and had zero use for it i know this tablet sucks more than a hoover but i cannot bring myself to toss out good working devices so i want to put this to use for penetration testing and improving my android to android otg/adb/flashing/rooting skill set. It's not often you get a burner to play with lol....and who can beat free?
Now i've used linux deploy but no matter what version of linux i deploy/install (debian fedora kali ubuntu) I seem to always get the same results........ FATAL kernel to old.......so ive turned to the experts for help because i'm not familiar with installing linux ( windows user) so i wanted to take this opportunity to get into the linux world.......so some info about the system i'm currently running.....
First this tablet is fully rooted with the exception of the bootloader i have not been able to get the bootloader unlocked so i still have a stock recovery....and it blows id much rather have twrp..
Second here is the systems info and I hope someone can guide me to a rootFS that i can install using linux deploy or any other way i can run linux ontop of android that will actually start I have both vnc viewer and No Machine installed but because i cannot get linux to fully install I cannot use them lol......
So anyways any help would be greatly appriciated and THANKS A MILLION IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!!!!

Hi all..
I m from India and I have a question in using QEMU.
I am new to using QEMU. Is it possible to host a simple http/tcp server on a Linux which is running on qemu, without any accompanying vm (KVM), and hit that http server from the host OS (say Windows)? What options should I choose in army (command line args) to run any TCP based server from within qemu?
As of now I use the following to start my OpenWRT Linux on QEMU:
$ qemu-sysyem-arm -M vert-2.9 -kernel openwrt-22.03.1-armvirt-32-zImage -no-reboot -nographic -drive file=openwrt-32-rootfs-ext4.img,if=virtio,format=raw -append "root=/dev/vda" -m 1G -nic user -nic user
Thankyou

Hi ...
Thankyou for the link. But I couldn't post my question. I mean, I couldnt find a "new message" or "new thread" button there. Why?
