[Q] need help unrooting hero with cyanogen mod - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Buddy gave me a sprint htc hero, doesn't have an sd card, I do have a spare though.
I downloaded htc sync and the latest rru. But when I plug in the phone to the computer, the computer recognizes it, but htc sync doesn't, nor does the rru program
I need to unroot the phone to activate it because, sprint can't activate it as it is. They tried there various key codes and none of the worked
I do have debugging on when the phone is plugged into the computers usb.
HTC Hero
Cyanogen mod
Not recognizing device in htc sync or rru program

Look into your hboot and post the ver you have along with the radio as well. I might have something that can help.

Download this and place it on the root of your sdcard. Then flash its through hboot. It's the rom.zip from the RUU. It should work for you.

If my sd card doesn't have a root folder can I just make one?
Thanks

By root I meant not in any folder at all, but just straight on the sdcard.

I've tried setting my phone to r/w and r/o over and over again in Root Explorer, but no luck. I have no idea what to do. I could format, but I'm not sure if that would work and I would really like to keep all my files.

Darkyy's 5.2 captivate ROM on Windows 7. Not sure what you mean by which storage, but every file is affected. I've been searching for a while with no results :-/
I need to upgrade badly. I'm having problems with getting calls now, too. Some files can be copied onto my computer fine, but many of them give me "Error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect."

that's my zip package. it has
odin 1 click stock
Clockwork Mod Update Zip
xcals kernel
the new modem jl3
and nexus s live wallpaper.

i decided to make a zip that includes the odin 1 click to stock, a cwm update zip that can be put on the sd card and installed by booting into recovery and selecting reinstall packages, the jl3 modem, xcals 2.2.1 kernel and the nexus s live wallpaper which can be installed by placing the LiveWallpaper.apk into system/app.
This is not one big whole flashable zip. it is a zip that includes what seems like the most common items i could think of in one folder so you dont have to search. i hope this is helpful for some.
Odin 1 click-open the odin file first, then put your phone in download mode and start the one click
CWM update.zip-copy to internal sd card, 3 button combo into recovery, reinstall packages(might take a few times)
jl3 modem- flash with CWM, boot cwm recovery, select install zip from sd card, choose zip and select the jl3update
xcals 2.2.1 kernel- flash with CWM, boot cwm recovery, select install zip from sd card, choose zip and select the kernel zip
LiveWallpaper Nexus s- move copy livewallpaper.apk to internal sd and move to system/app via root explorer or something of that sort
Again hope this helps somebody

this will get you back to stock and you can then copy the cwm update zip. and install the rom of your choice although i would stay away from the one that gave you problems.

Awesome, thanks! I'll start getting my phone fixed when I get home from work. I don't think there's anything else I can do to get my files copied over, but I can probably just back them up on my phone somehow.

[Q] Installation of Virtuous Unity 1.31 on HTC Incredible S

I am a newbie to this fascinating would of rooting and am a proud owner of HTC Incredible S. I rooted the phone and installed the ROM Manager with the hope of installing Virtuous Unity. These are the issues I faced :-
1) I could not find Virtuous Unity for download in the Download ROM.
2) When I downloaded the Virtuous Unity 1.31.0.zip from the website, copied it to my SD Card and tried to install it.. It installed the HTC Sense 2.1 instead of Sense 3.0!
Could someone please guide me as to how to change the update-scripts and which folders to rename so that I can install Virtuous Unity 1.31.0? I would be really grateful...

Sounds like you need unzip the file on your PC first. Then you should find the update-scripts and I suspect a folder name Incs. You need to edit the update-scripts and change any occurance of IncS to vivo and then rename the Incs folder to vivo.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply.
I changed the folders named incs to vivo.. but could not file any update-scripts having incs as the name. Reinstalling yields the same results.

Ok, I'm downloading the zip file now. I'll take a look and give you more specifics.
I also replaced incs to vivo in the updater-script and tried reinstalling.. Same issue.

Ok, so after you unzip the file on your PC, you renamed the 'incs' folder in both the 'devices' folder and the 'kernel' folder to 'vivo', right?
Then you modified the updater-script in META-INF\com\google\android folder and replaced incs with vivo, right?
Then you zip the files back up and copied that zip file to your phone's SD card, right?
Then you went into CWM recovery to install the zip file, right?

In the last step, instead of going into the CWM recovery, I used ROM Manager to install the ROM from the SD card. Followed all the other steps before it.

Ok, I suggest you boot into ClockworkMod manually and then flash the ROM that way. I assume that since you have ROM Manager installed then you have ClockworkMod 4.0.0.8 installed, right?

Yes I have ClockwordMod 4.0.0.8 installed. Booting into CWM manually basically means pressing the volume-down key and power during power-on, right?

Yes, then on the HBOOT screen you need to select the RECOVERY menu option. That will boot you into CWM.

Yes, I do. In reviewing the thread from yesterday that user 'Chris N' started and you posted on today, regular ClockworkMod will not work with this custom ROM. You need to install different version. This information was taken from the Virtuous Unity opening page:
Device specific information
If you have problems with an aborted flash in recovery ("prepairing sdcard directory"), look here and flash the recovery from there.

1. Download rom.
1a) Download vold.fstab 34. - Download
1a) Or do like in this post
2. Put to sdcart (I can't put anything on SD card, cause i cant access it, so what to do then ?
4. Wipe data/catche
5. Install rom
6. Install CWN-SuperSU-v0.87.zip
6. Only if you dont change this before. Copy vold.fstab 34 to /system/etc
7. Restart the phone
my phone is rooted, but since i can't put anything on it's internal memory, a can't install new rom... i believe it should be done using fastboot, but since roms I found are not in the format
radio.img
recovery.img
bootloader.img
i dont know how to do it
If you have es file manager or other go to system/etc and there is a file called vold.stab edit him and change value from 33 to 34.
If not. Download vold.stab hboot 1.28 from previous link and install via cwm or adb.
http://db.tt/3XqshMvS
Here is my put this to sdk android tool folder and start cmd.
Write
Adb push vold.stab /system/etc
If you get system read only
Use
Adb remount and previous command

[Q] How to flash radio/firmware/s-off/unlocked bootloader/rooted

Am I doing something wrong? With my past HTC phones all I had to do was put my .zip folder on the root of the storage directory and as soon as I would restart into the bootloader it would say 'sd checking' and search for any .zip folders and then proceed to flash them. With my bfs HTC One, his phone is rooted with s-off but every time i try and restart into the bootloader it never checks for any .zip files. Any help would be great.

Need a rom ZIP file for desire 626S

I am looking for a rom zip file for a T-mobile HTC desire 626s. All I keep finding are the ruu's. I need a zip file so I can install OS via TWRP. Anyone know where I an find and download one, really need as soon as possible.
Flashing without RUU
First, download the RUU and run the .exe up until it prompts you to begin the install to the phone. Don't do that.
Go to Windows Explorer and in the address bar put "%temp%" and find "rom.zip"
Rename it "0PM9IMG.zip" and put it in the root directory of your external SD and from here you can do whatever you want. I used the bootloader to install it rather than TWRP.
Thanks
