A few of the icons of applications I installed on my phone ( Rooted )
appear grey - on the home screen as well as on the application screen.
If I press on them a message appears on the screen -
" Application not installed on your phone "
If I try to uninstall them I get a message -
"' Selected item cannot be uninstalled "
The other thing ( which may be associated with the above bug )
is that the applications screen page does not fill up all the rows
and columns with icons - sometimes the rows and columns are
half full and new application icons appear on the next page.
Have no clue where the bug is.
Does anyone else have this problem on their phone?
Cheers.
What ROM are you using? Which launcher are you using? Did you install your apps to your external SD-card and then unmounted it?
Also, you posted in the wrong section.
Ghost icons!!?? this is a job for GhostBusters!!!!!!
Ok, now seriously, try to unmount and mount again your sdcard.
Did it work?
Try rebooting then uninstalling it again.
Post screen shot with this anomaly please.
Lol when I see all those helpers like: try rebooting, un mounting, flying i am gonna sick

remove ghost icon
I found it's the result of moving app to sd card.
Reinstall app, if necessary, and move to sd and back. Then remove!

Hi guys,
I realized after transferring apps2sd, some of the icons/shortcuts will disappear after reboot. Any clues?

Apps need to be in phone memory in order to see the shortcut on home screen after reboot.
So, just move those apps back to Phone memory
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->"On SD Card"
Select the apps and press "Move to Phone" button.
Noted. Will try. Thanks

Hi, I just realised some of my apps in SD card will not disappear. Any clues??
I am having the same problem on my i9000M. I am not using apps2sd. I've recently upgraded to Froyo (JK4). I've done a factory reset and format on internal sd in recovery mode and I am still getting the same issue.
Any idea/suggestion?

It is a bug of Samsung's Touchwiz Launcher. If you use ADW or Launcher Pro, there will be no problems I think.
Simple Solution
Recently 3 out of 4 shortcuts icons in the undertray disappeared from my samsung galaxy i9000...
so what i did was i went to
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> All> twlauncher> clear data...
Warning after doing this the homescreen and the menu icon orientation will be reset
but the good part is that the shortcut icons will be back
you up fw 2.3.4 & kernel
Figured it out
This is definitely a bug in Touchwiz. If the app has been moved to SD and then updated after the move, the Icon disappears after a re-boot. If you move the app from SD to the phone and re-boot the icons stay. Move the apps back to SD and you are fine.
Touchwiz see the icon as an ID and links the icon to the folder if the folder moves Touchwiz assumes that the program is no longer there. By moving it to the phone the id is reconnected and then moved with the transfer to SD.
No need to reset completely, just remember to reboot the phone AFTER you move the programs from SD to Phone. Then reboot AGAIN after you move them back to SD.
have the same problem but widgets and maps/apps gets duplicatet...driving me insane
Thanks

Nice one man! I've been having the same problem on My Galaxy SIII for a few days now - driving me nuts!
You fixed it - Thank you :good:
Hello guys,
i'm using this one ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579431 i'ts perfect but i had the same problem and i can't fix it.
Anybody knows what to do?
Hello, since I've rooted my phone (stock rom 2.2.2), I have an annoying glitch with the "n" icon popping up on every icon/app installed after I rooted my phone, when I disconnect it from USB (after it scans the SD card, and memory and apps in the notification bar)
No matter if I've already launched those apps, it still pops up on their icons (i'm talking about the little "N" in a blue circle)
What could be wrong ? How to correct that ?
Thanks ! :good:
EDIT: only the modded camera app (from there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090785a ) and superuser app have the issue, and only in the application menu... they do not show the "N" icon on the home menu. So weird ?!
Is there any way to get rid of that "N" icon popping up only on those 2 apps ?
I have to say I dun really know the cause of recurring N
but I once had same problem of recurring N in specific apps that I had froozen n defrosted by Titanium Backup!
try them after deleting app cache and data. It worked for me!
if that doesn't work, we'll go for more desperate measures!!
"N" pops up whenever you install new apps, once you start that app, it should disappear. Your issue seems to be weird, try clearing cache and re-boot your device.
.... I don't understand what's the N icon :/
N → New

'N' isn't actually icon but a small overlay over real icon. It is kind of notification which shows a installed app hasn't yet been started/run from app drawer!!
You are still on froyo right? Its normal.. try clearing cache, dalvik everything.. or, just ignore it.. hehe.. happened to me once..

Fixed! :- I wiped the data for search 1.1 in titanium back up and rebooted the kindle after this the notification pull down is back! So if you ever accidently deleted search just do the above!
Hey Everyone,
My notification/status bar has vanished on my KFHD7" it happened after I was trying to change the search to Google so it'd stop taking me to amazon marketplace search and I'd accidently deleted search 1.1 when I thought I'd pressed freeze! I really shouldn't attempt such things without sleeping! Anyway I rebooted after That still not realising then the bar was gone.. It's not the launcher settings as I've checked in there I restored the backup of search when I noticed I'd not froze it and it's still the same!
It's no big issue I'd just rather have it there for notifications because no alternative seems to work for me
Any idea's?
Edit : forgot to mention I'm rooted and using kinology I have Google apps I use apex launcher no lock and holo lock
Also if I press search on my Pie soft keys it brings down the menu but only shows the settings buttons and an empty notification screen even though I know there's some there!
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Am running the galaxy gear with null rom. I installed the nova launcher and sort of gave up on that, and went back to touchwiz.
Something strange happened recently - my Setup app on the gear itself is missing. It doesnt show in the gear manager on the phone. I tried clearing the gear manager cache on the phone - but it wont show up. It used to show up as one of those black+white big icons on the main screen if you side scroll. I had reordered a few of the main icons - but setup is totally missing.
Actually - I may even be confused. Sometimes if i double-finger tap - I can get a google-style setup screen (starts with a blank screen and a funny icon on the top right). From here I can see "settings" menu - tiny font - rather than the very unfunctional original Samsung setup - which had Display/Sound/etc.
I'm confused what I am seeing really because of the launcher confusion. (I can occasionally see the wifi/BT/battery status at the top).
Its really annoying because I cant easily see the battery status (despite having set this on the setup menu to display - when I could access the setup menu); and the note in the previous paragraph - that I can see the battery status is erratic - sometimes I can see the tiny status line but never when I want to see it - to check battery status).
I have rebooted the device.
V700XXUBNA3_V700OXABNA3_OXA.zip
null_22.1
Just tried to double tap my home screen - its so erratic - no joy. I succeeded 5 mins ago.
You need to re flash null rom and select the gear set up wizard to be installed. It is one of the options you can select when flashing the rom. There may be an easier fix but worst case scenario that should solve your problem. Also if you don't want Nova you can deselect it during flashing. That screen you are seeing is like on your phone when you slide down from the top of the screen (notifications, settings, etc)

Thank you - let me try that. I remember fiddling with the options on install - so this could be the magic clue.
Cant think why one would not want setup to be installed!
I had the same issue. Ended up flashing the latest null rom which included the set up wizard. Hope this works for you too.

Hi,
I'm using CM10.2.1 on my ovation device and have noticed a significant slowdown/lag when rearranging (moving) app-icons on the home screen.
It depends on the number of icons that are displayed on the current page - when there are many icons, the slowdown is horrible.
My grid size is 8 rows x 5 columns.
If I check "Hide icon labels (Hide homescreen icon labels)" (Personalization->Home Screen->General), rearranging app-icons is very smooth with no slowdowns. So it has something to do with the label rendering?
What can I do to avoid the slowdowns without having to learn the app-icons by heart.
Have you tried enabling force gpu acceleration in developers options?

Yes, I tried that already. It makes no difference. If I enable "Show GPU overdraw", the icon labels are marked light red to red - no matter wether "force gpu rendering" is checked or not.
I also tried "Disable HW overlays" - this has no effect.
How many icons are needed for this to appear? I can add that many and see if I see the same thing.

With 6 Icons on one page, the difference is quite obvious.
If you add more icons, it will get worse. If you fill a 5 x 8 screen with icons, it's a real pain.
Strange my home screen has 20 things move around like butter

You'll probably find that its one (or more) app that's not playing nicely. I'd start by removing them one at a time until it reveals itself.
Just did a full wipe and clean install. Skipped everything possible - no wifi configured, no Google account, no restore from Google.
Then dragged some icons on home screen. Moving them around is now much better, but not as perfect as with icon labels switched off!
After that, I verified the grid size in the Trebuchet preferences - changed nothing, returned to home screen. Now some of the icons are not visible any more and some of them are outside the screen area.
I've got no idea what's going on here... Trebuchet perhaps is mixing up colums and lines sizes of the homescreen grid?
All I can think of to suggest at this point is:
Make certain your chosen CWM10.2 downloaed properly (or do it again).
Make certain you have the correct GApps package.
Make certain you installedd them with the correct version of CWM.
I'm assuming you followed the Guide for Dummies. It's pretty idiot resistant. After I create the bootable SD, I like to install just the EMMC version of CWM followed by the ROM. Then let the Nook boot all the way through. Go into settings and enable boot options, reboot into recovery and then install GApps. Reboot again, connect to WiFi and let everything update.
If that doesn't work, I'd suggest starting over from a fresh install of the stock ROM.
Went back to stock ROM without problems.
Reset to factory defaults.
Downloaded cm-10.2.1-ovation.zip again. No file differences found. Flashed it via CWM v6.0.2.8 for HD+ (Stock)
Flashed gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip.
The problem is still present.

Don't know what else to say. I just (literally) went from stock to 10.1, then to 10.2, then to 11 (which I'm on now). I would rather pack the stuff I use on one screen than flip back and forth between screens. I keep it full with widgets, shortcuts, and quick-launchers. No problems like yours.
When you say, "Reset to factory defaults." you mean you flashed it back to the stock firmware?
Yes, I did a full wipe and flashed back to stock ROM - to start over from scratch.
Then I flashed CM 10.2.1 as described... and the problem is back.
Now I'm trying CM11 (M6) which does not show this particular problem (everything moves smoothly), but it has some nasty bugs. Reading a book in "Google Books" often causes a crash and the Nook reboots. The notification bar crashes sometimes when I pull it down. Sound is strange in King.com games (Candy Crush etc.)...
FWIW - You're in good company. My most used app is Kindle (Ironic, aint it?). I get random reboots with every ROM I've tried. Some are much worse than others.
