It's all in the link I posted. First post.
Read the Instructions(Long)
is this a good method and would i be guaranteed to get signal when i am finished..
ps is it worth rooting my galaxy s and can you recommend any good custom roms if i do
There are benefits to rooting.
If you follow those directions, you will have a fully functional phone.
As far as custom roms, i have used Doc's rom kitchen. That's about it. I can recommend that to you.
do i need an unlocked phone for rooting to work
some say yes some say no.
mine came unlocked so i didnt need to worry about that. anyway try this before you root:

Also,
Do your reading! Learn as much as you can.
Backup your /efs folder. You never know if your going to need to restore a backup.
I recently flashed JVB (Darky's) I am curious is there a way to find out which modem I am using ? what's the best for bell users ?
Go into Settings -> About Phone.
There you should see a tab that says "Baseband Version". That shows you the modem version of your phone (last 3 letters).
I'm not a big expert, so I have no idea which modem you should use. You should try searching a bit for an answer in the development section though, there's plenty of discussion about that type of stuff there, just search around a bit.
Hope that helped!

Hello,
Since we are in australia and using P1000T, that is the firmware. Your firmware is JJ3.
Now, from here you can:
Stay stock (leave it at that)
Get custom Rom (overcome, etc)
If you want custom rom, look in the galaxy tab android development and follow the instructions to the letter to avoid bricking your tab.
It is normally advisable to flash your rom to roto's rom first before you get a custom rom. Roto's rom: roto jmi or roto jme, just search the development section.
I flashed 2 P1000t's straight to gingerbread with no problems... The bootloader doesn't need to be patched. Follow the instructions in the overcome thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=596770&d=1305467639 or these instructions & Links on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13781955
Just remember, You don't need to flash the modem.bin part, just untick phone in ODIN. This allows you to keep the original Telstra radio...
Cheers, and happy flashing...
Ok bloke so two questions if you can please help. What is the best way to backup the existing stock to restore back to in case i screw it. Also when you say you went straight to gingerbread, which gingerbread rom did you use that was successful.
Did you use/have you heard of the Euro Italian one that is floating around the traps?
OK, here's stock Telstra firmware and radio - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971870
Read about this on Sarsippius thread... Big thankyou, Sarsippius, for this...
You MUST have AT LEAST 50% battery or you may end up with a brick. The tab doesn't charge during the flashing process so if you have low battery it will be sucked dryt pretty quick. Flashing seems to use a bit of power...
Next, I flashed this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854 , thankyou Chainfire...
You need to follow the steps EXACTLY (if you want pictures go to the overcome thread and get his flashing manual, though there a re a few files named different and he doesn't need to flash the dbdata.tar file after the 1st flash...I also flashed the CF-Root V3.2 afterwards using ODIN....
Flashed 3 times using ODIN. Now have stock gingerbread and CWM on tab...
You can use the modem.bin file from the stock rom to keep the Telstra modem...
Takes about 10 - 15 minutes , go slow, read each step and DON'T skip ahead or you will come a cropper...
Remember, you can ALWAYS flash back to stock through ODIN as long as it recognises your tab....
I then flashed the Overcome rom V2.0.0 RC1 using CWM...
Happy Flashing....
ok..
i just manage to root GT-P1000T with chainfire thingy..(can't remember the name)
i fire up root explorer..and also installed bootloader patch - as per suggestion i found in xda (it says that mine are safe)
does it realy means that i realy could flash my dev with any firmware??

You have the same Tab as I do, yes you can flash any gsm or european rom... DON'T flash the cdma roms as they are different from my understanding, could be wrong...
Look at my post above if you want to flash to gingerbread... I know that works...
Cheers...

Hey guys, sorry for asking again this thing, but I've searched into the topic i'm speaking of and I didn't found anything useful.
I installed this ROM(CFT 1.4 Fugumod kernel) with latest gapps and with: forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=648448&d=1310077489) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353657
I must tell you guys it's awesome and looks incredible BUT i have a very big problem. He doesn't recognize my network. I'm from Romania, Orange network, if it does have any relevance; I don't know if there is a problem with our networks or not, but i so want this mode and i'm looking foward for a solution.
Please????
Can't help with this ROM as I have not used it but...
Have you checked your IMEI number? These sometimes get trashed when you flash & can result in not being able to access the network.
First look and see if your IMEI says unknown.. if it doesn't just flash a different radio
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
If imei starts something like 0.. its probably trashed.
Galaxy I9000, Team ICSSGS 4.2, Semaphore 0.9.5b, using xda premium
I've solved the problem guys, thank you very much for your interest.
If anyone has the same problem you can uninstall CFT 1.4 Fugumod kernel and install the same CFT 1.4 but with stock kernel.
Thank you again and keep up the good work.
Hi All
I am from Bangladesh and looking for some HELP!!!
I have just bought one Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 from one of my friend. He used it for last one year. It was pretty much ok with all the settings. I am always little bit curious about new machines and when I got it I thought it was not updated with all the setting. Like a stupid I have tried to root it with CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS.TAR and it showed “FAIL” and went dead. After that I downloaded another file dbdata.rfs.tar and made it active again. But unfortunately everything erased down from my tab.
After that I got someone from UK who helped to setup The Overcome Experience in my Tab. Everything is fine except my IMEI what is shown fake as 004999010640000
Model # GT-P1000
Firmware Version # 2.3.6
Baseband Version - P1000XXJPZ
Kernel Version # 2.6.35.7, Overcome-v4.0.0 # 40
Build Number # Overcome 7 Series v4.1.0
I don't know what else to try. I have searched the forums here and it seems that the answer is not there or I am not in the right page.
I would appreciate any help or other ideas!!!!
Regards
Noor
The answer is there.
Usually is by flashing stock ROM.
You may want to try overcome's GB stock safe v5.
The link is in my signature.
After flashing stock, check your IMEI. hopefully it is restored.

Hi Priyana,
Thank you so much for your quick response! The same I have followed to install my Overcome Experience (as per XDA policy couldn't paste the link here)
If you insist I can again reinstall it from your given link or if you adv to install any other operating system like gingerbread or jelly bean or any other OS. Actually frankly speaking I am very new on this. Thanks again and waiting fro your suggestion.
Regards
Noor
I don't insist.
But so far the only way to recover IMEI is either by having a backup of your efs,
Or by restocking.
Some people here couldn't get back their IMEI even after restock.
Not sure why.
But it is up to you to try or to leave it.
Upgrading to higher os won't help.

Thanks Priyana! Actually my EFS folder is empty. Is the Overcome Experience is the latest OS?
well, overcome 4.1 (the ROM) is a modified samsung stock 2.3.6
So in a sense, yes, it is the latest that is close to the official released but better in performance.
Samsung didn't update the OS for P1000 anymore, so if you want ICS or JB, it will have to come from CM/AOKP/Paranoid etc
