Hi,
as you know there is an integrated backup app on our 4Xs.
Can anyone tell how good it is?
Does it miss to backup anything important?
I'll return my 4X to Amazon and order a new one because its price dropped by 50€. Now I wonder if the Backup App will save everything I need so I don't have to save anything manually.

Sorry ... WTF ... you are going to send your phone back to Amazon to get another one and save $50?
If you couldn't afford the phone in the first place then you shouldn't have bought it and if your time is worth so little that you would do all that for 50 bucks then I feel a little sorry for you.

There are three reasons: First 50€ (about 64$), so why not get 50€ without great effort?
Second: Switch a new phone for one that is already used about a month and get 50€, thats a great deal.
(Also I can put a screen cover on it right after unpacking it, the last time I did it the day after, and it was impossible to do so without catching dust under the cover)
And third: I can send it back and get 100% of my money back if the Optimus G is released the next month and I decide to get it after testing it.

What means "all that"? Clicking two buttons on a webpage and carry the package about 100m to the next post-station? Yeah, that's definitely something a person that has a normal life won't find time for.

That's not a problem, I had no idea when the G will be released, and it is not a requirement for me to get 100% of my money back for the 4X. If the G has a SD-Slot I will buy it (if it looks good in reality, I won't judge the look from pictures).
But until it's time to switch to the G I will be happy with my 4X

Can I copy the backup to SDcard/PC? Can I copy and restore the backup to another O4X?

welli i use my pc actually copy the important thing like android file on internal where all my game save and data there and then copy paste it to another o4x or after wipe data is easy as that or if you want the apks,,use titanium backup and it will make a folder called titanium backup on internal(i think) and put it on my pc and then copy paste it to ur phone or other phone
i think this the longest step but its the safest(for me)

Well your average thief might just scratch their head and give up on the phone but if they know someone who knows about android, such as one of many of the forum members here, they still get your phone. All they have to do is flash it back to stock.
The only thing these type of apps are good for, imo, is protecting your personal data. Even then there is no protection for the data on the sd card.
Desire HD has built in anti theft service. Just go to htcsense.com and register. It is really complicated to remove this from phone
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Have you ever tried htcsense.com? the locate system hardly works and the site is often down. Theft Aware works clean.
hint: to uninstall it, you first need to remove the device admin setting of theft aware in your phone settings. then it's just like any other app to uninstall

For everyone who knows a bit about the phone it would be child's play to remove the protection.
but if you can password protect the bootloader/recovery it is safe...
Anyway the mainstream user doesn't know about theft aware.
Most of the "thiefs" or lucky ones would do a hard reset.
And if you have a rooted phone, theft aware ist still on the phone.
And maybe they put another sim card in the phone and you got the phone number.
10 bucks is ok for a chance to get my 500 bucks mobile phone back.

Well i have been using theft aware for several months now and i think it's great.
I have it integrated in the rom. Every backup on my phone has it.
A normal thief would only reset the phone and then it stays on.

Sounds good. Maybe i give it a try. How long does the trial work ? And what are the differences to the pro version ?
Sent from my Desire HD
the trial is fully functional and works for 7 days.
since I rooted my phone 2 weeks ago I had to wipe it and could test the hard reset proof feature afterwards. it IS impressive.
on rooted phones you can block the adb access since the latest version.
Yesterday we started a global -70% price promotion for "Theft Aware" http://www.theftaware.com

This is really Good. I bought it and it works like a charm. I got Theft Aware, Smi Card Checker, Cerberus all together for added protection. I feel it is worth it when you spend so much for a Phone. Spending a mere 3% of the cost of your phone for these is definitely worth it.

I do not know why people answer post without any knowledge. Child play to remove it?
If you lock phone setting – the app cannot be installed
If the phone is root – hard reset does not remove the app, USB debug is unable, etc..
Of course, if you hack the password code, are able to unroot the phone, flash a stock rom, etc... you will remove this app. Childish stuff
I do not have any connection with this app, I am just considering purchasing a security app and so far this is my favourite. Theft Aware may be not perfect but please tell me if you find any better (and cheaper).
Hi guys, i am thinking to sell my Note.. to buy a Note 2.
Considering how many infos and confidential datas are stored inside it, what is the best way to completeley clean it?
thank you very much.
You will have to give us a bit more info... are you on a custom ROM, kernel, do you have root?
i've just flashed 4.1.2 N7000XXLSO, kernel says 3.0.31-906407, so i have an original samsung ROM.
phone should be rooted... but after i flashed the new rom it is no more.
Best you could do in your current situation is do a factory reset through the settings and format the memory. If you had a different kernel then you could also wipe the system, preload etc. and then reflash just in case anything was left there...
thank you!
but do you think it is possible to restore datas from memory even after you format it? shouldn't it be better to fullfill the memory with huge files (movies, for instance) and then delete them?
Seems like you can't handle modern tech.
Just burn your phone. The only way the data can't be recovered.

Fine. Then connect your note to a PC in mass storage mode. Shred each file you can see. Put in movies so that the card is full and shred again. Alternatively, use a shredder which overwrites all the data with zeroes. Use Google for whichever/whatever you are not understanding...

No. This forum is to develop new things. We help people because it doesn't cost us anything
I suggest you to format factory inside the system itself, and then flash a stock ROM via Odin. This should not only delete all your info but also get it back to the way it left the store when you bought it!
On a side note (no puns intended), do you really think it's worth the upgrade for the note 2 right now? I mean, Note 3 will be out soon...

To answer your question first. Simply do a wipe data factory reset and clear cache memory. keep your memory card with u and flash a rom on the cell. everything will be clear.
In my opinion you should wait till the note 3 comes out. The price of note 2 will fall and by the time HTC will come with somethg new and competition will rise. patience pays
Hi,
I was really hoping the rumors would have been true and the Nexus 7 2 would have been announced. I was ready to pre-order last week. That didn’t happen so I pulled the trigger on the current Nexus 7. While I'm disappointed that I didn't get to get the brand new one I am VERY happy with it so far. I also got the official Nexus dock and a keyboard case. I have to say the official dock is so great I may buy a 2nd one! It’s overpriced but soooo nice.
Anyway, one thing I want to do right away is be able to get and send SMS texts from my phone on my N7. I have a Droid Razr Maxx by the way. What is the best software to do this?
Is there a free way to turn on the wireless tether on my Razr so I can connect my N7 to it? I also play Ingress and it would be cool to be able to use the N7 for that.
I'm not ready to root and try a custom ROM yet but what are some of the "must have" apps for the N7? Any info would be great!
Thanks

Exactly. I wasn't going to buy the current one until after the big Google announcement. That would just be dumb. But again, I love this device so lets stop talking about "what if" or "when it does come out"... I want to talk about the cool things this one can do.
:cyclops:
Since its brand new, i'd recommend unlocking and rooting right away, just to get that out of the way should you wish to flash stuff later. Better to do it early since unlocking wipes everything and there's little data to keep that early. Having said that, I just finally unlocked/rooted after months of ownership and replacing all the data was trivial. Just a recommendation.
It's a very capable tablet completely stock, I just like tweaking things and the tablet UI is cool IMO.

I made a backup with the backup program that comes with the TF700.
Then I put the files on the MicroSD card and then restored them on the TF701 with the same program. Worked flawless and all game and other history was preserved.
And from the backup on my major gmail account all the settings for all Wifi connections were restored too.
But I like TB much more but for now above method worked.
And because I use Nova Prime as launcher all settings of my screens were backed up and restored also within a second.

Hi guys, i wanna perform a downgrade back to jellybean because kit kat really gets on my nerves for multiple reasons..
The reason i have not done this yet is purely because i dont want to lose anything i have on my phone, basically I'm looking for a backup programme which backs up absolutely everything i have on my internal storage, including 3rd party apps I've installed and set up, downloaded videos which are stored within apps and everything else pretty much THEN once I have performed the downgrade, to be able to just restore the backup and have my phone identical to how it is now only with jellybean instead of kitkat. Is this possible? Cheers in advance.

Very true, using the non pro version will work but it's a mundane task to have to allow and then install each and every app one after another, very useful if you plan on testing different roms with your apps, the automated process is so much quicker and it'll save you time.
Half way through installing 300+ apps you'll be thinking of that pro key.
Plus the do deserve your cash, amazing app titanium.
When looking into these backup apps including titanium it says I need to be rooted to use the features i want. I'm not rooted and dont really plan to be. It's a shame really because i moved over to android so i had more freedom and control over my device and at first I had as much control as i needed with jellybean (more is better obviously) but the kitkat update pretty much made every sd enabled phone into a poor device. Plus I find the wifi range is really bad on kitkat but jellybean had so much better range. My point is that it's annoying that i should have to root my phone to make it as i want it and be able to toy with the settings when really it should already either have these features or be better optimised. Now I'm wondering if i should just root my phone rather than downgrading it? If i root it can i tweak the wifi range? And can I allow my apps to have better access to my sd card? Also if i upgrade to 4.4.4 can i still root the phone after? Cheers
If you root, it is easier to do on 4.4.4, and you can fix the sd card issue.

Fantastic help from you guys, much appreciated. It's good to actually be on a forum without morons! Lol
Ok so im now possibly leaning toward the rooting route.. Would you advise getting it done by someone in a shop or doing it myself? I'm pretty competent but if it's a risky process then I'd rather it be done properly! Are there any good tutorials for rooting from 4.4.4? Also does rooting wipe the phone memory? Cheers
And any app recommendations for rooted phones that allow me to sort out the sd access problems, also apps that allow me to tinker with my wifi range etc.. Just any good full customisation apps really so i can really get this phone as it should be!
