All my picture are out of focus Happened some times ago. It tries to focus, it believes it does so, but all pictures are slighty out of focus. No sharp lines anywhere.
Is this water damage? Or could it be something else? If water damage, is there anything I can do at all about this?
welcome to the club... I think it's "camera damage" but from factory... I tried all camera apps but the result is the same almost.

Oh that sucks! I hate leaving it on repair. It takes forever and often they don't do jack ****... and you have to return 3 times before it's actually replaced by a new one. They first try software updates...! When it's been 2 months you've given up and bought a new phone.
Apart from that, this phone is the best phone I've had... and I've had many!
What version are you on?

I complain about photos when the light is not great, besides that, when the light is excelent the phone do very nice pictures, sometimes its hard to focus but it works.
The problem of the phone camera is manage the light, I think... and for me its a question of lenses or some other hardware, cause I tried all the versions, all the apps and the blur or the light issue remains...
Apart of that and the back speaker (lets forget the bootloader for now...), the phone its great.
Try Camera JB+ or Camera 360 Ultimate, lot better imo.
I have no problem with the auto focus both day and night, please see these pics:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866677&page=2
But there is red center issue when taking pic at close range:

There's no difference in broad daylight, if any it's a very slim difference. It's most likely water damage, sadly.
I'm pretty technical, but wanted to ask a question towards users of the LG phone incase this might be a common issue.
I have version: 10f (latest version available)

Have a look through JimmyMcGee's link, then look through here. There are some stunning pictures. If you still can't take good photos it's probably you and not the camera.
isnt this what dutty runs on his rom?
its not like im displeased with the quality of picture... the lag is just ****ing unbearable and makes me want to never use it and the fix posted in the wiki doesnt seem to work for me

out of curiosity what are those pictures of?? water .. stacked in a nice looking room ... ??
I hate to tell you - it's a PHONE!
It is NOT a:
1. computer (although it works well to get email and short messages sent)
2. gameboy (although you can waste a lot of time playing games on it)
3. Nikon/Canon (although you CAN take some nice pictures on it)
It is what it is...
Best you can say - you need better get a phone that has a better picture taker on it - will you sacrifice something that is on your Tilt? Yup - most likely you will then say the phone is not good enough or the email is not good enough - or you need GPS...
Your picture actually looks pretty fine for a CELL PHONE!
Bill
Well, I have a Tilt as well and I must say my Tilt takes better pictures than that. Have a look at the thread where everybody posts pictures from their Kaiser. Compare them and see what settings they have things on.

Is it a stock rom or a cooked rom? What camera version are you running? Have you tried the photo quality cab floating around? Need a little more info to help.
But remember, it's a phone first. All the other stuff is just that, stuff.
Ok here are a couple things to do to improve Picture Quality. Remove the Battery Cover. Take a Picture. Did it Focus Faster. That Plastic piece in the Battery Cover is a Picture Destroyer.
Secondly Install Navadi Camera Fix. Also set the Shutter Sound Off and Set to half Press. Try those things.
did no one read my second post? the picture quality is not the problem... the lag in low lighting situations just turns me off from using it because its just such a pita... im currentily running duttys 6.1... so im assuming everyone just deals with it?
Bingo. We jsut deal with it.
You know what they say, "Jack Of All Trades, Master of None."
The Kaiser can do a lot of stuff, but it does none of it well.

Yes, indeed. and much more noise on low light environment .
Honestly everything you linked are of totally different scenes taken at different points of the day it's very hard to do a comparison.

Yes, I confirm. Detailing has become better at night, but at other time...
I'm at 4.2.2 and have taken about 100 pics. I can't decide if they are better or worse. Outside pics seems to be even darker and in pics with both dark and light scenes there seems to be even more difficulties to choose the right spot to focus on, they tend to be either to dark or light.
I'll listening in in this thread before deciding this month Android version
Skickat från min HTC One via Tapatalk 2
I am also unsure. Have the impression that the 4.2.2. cause a lack of details in the pictures and I have problems with focus in the dark.
Gesendet von meinem A510 mit Tapatalk 2
After viewing the samples, I got an impression that pictures are noticeably brighter on 4.2.2.
At the moment I'm glad that I was patient and didn't throw myself into updating.
Better to wait.
Maybe ROM 2.17... will have a different version radioROM (HBOOT) than 1.29.....???
You guys are crazy. They've turned down the crazy over sharpening over contrasting algorithm in the new update. Shots are so much more lifelike and less noisy.
Some seem like they have less 'pop', but they are much more accurate and realistic.

has anyone in here called HTC because of the faulty camera module and got its mobile phone exchanged to a new one with better camera quality?

I did, but I think it was for a different problem than what the OP si experiencing (I think). I had a problem with blue/red/purple noise in low light scenes. Took the phone into service and got a replacement. Here is the problem I had (and others as well) along with before and after photos:

Two pictures are in attachments.
It's like camera is not having a focus point or something?
Thanks!
Somethings out of wack here. Some piece of the pictures, like the leaves on the forest floor, and the arched concrete you were sitting on in front of that palace, are very detailed, yet, the backgroud is all fuzzy. I dont know whats wrong, but i dont think thats normal. Maybe someone else who knows more than me on the camera will post and help out.

Thanks for your anwser, I also think something is wrong. Any other opinions?
Take some pictures horizontally and with far distance.... If it's blurry(my was on the right side), it's camera hardware problem.... I had same issue, I was looking around on xda and found out it's broken ... I sent it back to HTC for repair, and they havent found any issue, so I have called insurance instead and they did swap ... It's fine now

Yes, but it is blurry already in the middle, taken from far, or close - the girl picture. Okay it is vertically taken but still. I'm thinking of going to my operator and letting them send it to warranty, I was just trying to see if there really is some problem, because all this warranty thing takes time and if they say it is working properly then all this time would be just for no reason.

In my opinion it does look that something is very wrong with it.
I have taken more than 500 pictures with my phone and just some taken with almost no ligh have some fuzziness like yours.
The ones with good light or moderate light are excelent. Even 90% of the ones I took at near no light are better than yours.
Let me show you some random pictures I have taken so you can compare.
These are not even messed with settings like sharpen -1 or anything else, just plain settings.
The second picture was taken with almost no light at all (seriously, the image is nothing like I could see with my eyes, way brighter in the phone).
I would take to a store and complain about it if I were you.
Thanks for your feedback, I will take it back and let them send it to warranty. Now I need to make it stock again

I've done a bit of searching on this but couldn't find any examples quite as extreme as mine. It seems to have happened to my phone at some point within the past couple of months, only noticed recently when I transferred some photos to my laptop. What basically happens is similar to the 'tilt shift' effect on Instagram. Only part of the photo is in focus. It's usually the middle which is in focus, but if I tap to focus elsewhere, it will shift the focus to there and the blurriness shifts (see photo number 4, where I tapped to specifically focus on the building on the right). I also tried the multiple autofocus option, but it unfortunately makes no real difference.
At first I thought I'd accidentally turned on some sort of hipster photo mode, but having scoured the options, I can see nothing of the kind which is making me think it's likely to be a hardware issue. The camera lens itself looks fine from the outside, no obvious cracks or damage.
Pictures below, just wondered if anyone had experienced this issue or had any ideas of any settings I may have missed, or anything else which could be causing this? I want to make sure I've tried everything I can before I send it back to Sony for repair.
Photos below, first photo was taken in manual mode, 2 and 3 were taken in superior auto. The 4th was specifically tapping the Focus onto the building on the right.

lens cover is probably scratched or melted. Its plastic so its easy to ruin.

Thanks, I've had a browse of that thread, but visually, to my eye at least, the lens cover on mine looks unscratched and undistorted. The case I have has a reasonably thick back, so the camera has actually been fairly well protected from scratches. Are there any other tests I can do? I'll try to get a close up picture of my lens later.
Just to update this, the phone is currently with Sony. Hopefully they'll be able to fix the issue, will update again with the end result, hopefully I'll have it back next week at some point.
Final update. Got the phone back last night, they've replaced the camera which has fixed the issue. Excellent turnaround, took 4 working days from sending it off to getting it back.

That's the kind of service that is appreciated by customers
I find the camera on the Note 5 is wonderful but lately I've noticed some issues in night conditions that are disappointing. I have a ton of streak artifact. Best way to describe it is to just look at the photos below. I wanted to take some nice photos of my two rides and came back disappointed.
I took photos with THREE different camera phones and none of those did what the Note 5 did. Any thoughts?
Galaxy Note 5 set first, followed by my AOSP G3, and the last shot is with an older generation iPhone.
Note 5 set to auto mode. I tried tweaking things with other settings and nothing could get rid of those streaks.
Imaging quality overall goes to the Note 5 but those artifacts make it unbearable. Is there something wrong in software? Is it a dirty lens issue (and if so how do I successfully clean it)? Is this a hardware problem that I should try and warranty?
Only modification to the photos posted was I dropped the resolution for easier viewing.

Obviously image quality goes down but those streaks certainly don't show up anymore.

factory reset is the last resort, try other apps like camera MX or camera FV5, if the same results occur, then the problem is either firmware or something in the sensor.
Clean your lens, rule number 1.
You try and apply the camera mod to increase jpeg quality a bit, but first do what i mentioned above and report back soldier!
That's all lens.
Is there any chance that you installed a rear screen protector for the camera?
If not and cleaning the lens doesn't solve this, then there's nothing you can do, besides eliminating those flares manually in ps or something.
Lens flare is quite common, espeically at large aperture lens such as the one which located in this phone, but these are quite severe and might be caused by lens misalignment or another defect. I'll try to shoot some lamp posts at night and see what's going on with my unit.
welp...tiny...T-I-N-Y scratch I can see over the camera...unreal. I'm guessing that's it. At least in day time it only happens in direct light. Here's an example with it showing and one without it showing...
Flair over blue car...
As long as I play angles enough it seems to get out of the view entirely. I guess I'll be learning a new way to take photos from now on... :/
You can probably get the camera lens replaced without burning your wallet, might want to look into that. The Note 5 definitely took better photos than the G3, ignore the lens defects. The difference there is insane.
