I recently rooted my Bionic with
Motofail (Root and 43V3R Root, for 5.5.886-5.9.902). I had 5.9.905 but it worked.
I installed bootstrap app and put CWM Recovery on it. I downloaded
STOCK-cm-10-20120924-UNOFFICIAL-targa.zip
from
[AOSP ROM] Unofficial CM10/JB ROM Development [09/24 DATAFIX]
Here is were I screwed up.
I booted to CWM and did not wipe the delvik or factory wipe and started to install the CM10 zip.
Somehow it went through successfully and when I went to boot it got stuck in a boot loop.
I knew of a couple options that I could do to get out of the bootloop (RSD Lite, Safestrap)
Now the phone will not turn on.All I get is a small white light when I pluck it in (with or without battery)
Is it bricked? and please help to get it back to normal root so I can put the ROM back on it.
It sounds like the battery is out of juice and probably needs to be charged before it will boot again. In order to charge it, you will either need an external charger or a Motorola factory style cable (not the standard moto cable, but a special one). You can also get a new battery which should be charged enough to use.
The problem with your install is that you need to be on an ics leak to use the cm rom as it relies on the ics kernel version.

Try SamuriHL s House of Bionic. It saved my bionic, too, though I did need to trick the battery.

Battery needs wiring, but it is possible, and is in fact exactly what I did!

I taped in the red and black leads using scotch tape, and charged the battery.

Hi,
My problem is yesterday, I tried to upgrade my Tab from 2.3.4 OS to 4.0.4 OS using Odin v1.85 and aokp ICS rom. During the process, I realized that I hadn't recharged the tab to full battery (as I remember, it was around 30 - 50%). The upgrade failed and now my Tab is bricked.
I tried to connect it to main AC power, for several hours, it came up like below

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And no matter how I try to boot it up, using vol up/vol down + power button,...etc, it always kind of shutting down, battery icon disappears then after several hours, it turns back on again.
Any ideas? I really need your help
Can you try to enter into recovery mode or download mode? Try to enter to download mode and install stock rom from from this link. If you want install Cyanogenmod. Cyanogenmod is curently have version 4.2.2 and have so many things and you can install updates like piece of cake he said to you updates are available and you download and install it with no roblems. If you are interested for Cyanogenmod see on this Youtube channel how to install Cyanogenmod and root your tablet.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI79j97R4qw

Thanks but somehow I let the battery drained to zero, then recharged it and connected to the PC, restored the tab normally through its factory mod. Again thank you!!
Hi! I have a huge problem. A couple of days ago I decided to install a custom ROM on my DEFY. I am a total rookie in this field, so I googled a little and got some information needed. I rooted my phone with One Click Root method. Then I installed 2ndInit and got an access to Custom Recovery. I downloaded CyanogenMod10, did a backup, wiped all my data and flashed CM10. Everything worked just fine and I was satisifed. But I forgot to do a copy of my contacts and some other stuff, so I decided to flash my backup back and store my contacts on sd card. I opened custom recovery and wiped all the data from the phone. Then I wanted to restore my backup, but my phone got somehow stuck or something and I had to reboot it. Now I cannot access custom recovery any more! When turn my phone on, I can only see Motorola logo. I can only get to so called Android recovery, where I can only wipe my data, and bootloader. So I tried the whole RDS Lite method, just as it was described here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828639
Everything seemed to work fine, but after getting to around 97% it looked like this:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
So I am out of options right now and I have no idea, what to do now. Can anyone please help me? I searched the web and I can't possibly find anything! Please, I really need to fix this.

I think the bootlogo is controlled by a separate app called Motorola Boot Services. maybe when you did the factory reset all the updates to that app got reverted back.
but the app can be updated in play store. if you go to store -> my apps -> All. it might be all the way at the bottom of the list of apps as it is with mine.
I checked it out and it's in the latest version. I will do an another factory reset and I post the results.

I did a factory reset and lollipop bootlogo img appears. after installed some apps the old one showed up again. I don't know which app triggers that behavior.

after a hard reset, i always get old kernel splash and old boot animation . after one or two reboots, i get new one.
That is controlled by Motorola Boot Services. It might take a few reboots to change because it's writing to a different partition. It doesn't affect in anything to the stability of the phone, it's just an image. You can even change it via fastboot if you don't like it.
This is nuts. I had old boot screen then new one then I encrypted the phone so it went back to old one. Maybe after a few boot ups it will go to the new one...

Hi all,
So, I was running fine with CROMi-X KitKat, but wanted to upgrade to Marshmallow (to install sw not supported in KitKat), so decided to try KatKiss 6.0. It's been years since I've played with flashing ROMs, but I did a little reading to refresh my memory. Then I rebooted into recovery (ClockworkMod), backed everything up, then wiped everything, formatted /data, and tried flashing the KatKiss zip file. At that point, it just sat there forever at the ASUS logo screen:

I've tried several times to boot back into recovery by holding the Vol+ and Power buttons, but it either doesn't boot, or boots to the above screen. I've connected it to my Mac w/ the Android SDK Platform Tools, but adb doesn't see any device listed. [I've got an old Windows laptop (XP?)] I could use if it will do something the Mac can't.]
Any advice on how I can save this tablet?
Have you found a solution finally?
Well, I haven't found a solution, but after letting it sit unplugged for months, I came across it today as I was straightening up. I plugged it in, waited maybe half an hour, and was able to boot it into recovery mode. I was then able to restore from a backup, and damned if it didn't reboot and come up just fine. No idea why it wouldn't boot into recovery before, but I'm happy camper!
