Hi I am a new comers
I just wanna to ask
Do I need to make a full wipe when flashing cm10 official nightly5 from nightly4
Hope someone can answer me
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
If you wish to keep installed apps, just delete cache and dalvik cache (not factory reset) and install nightly 5
But if you do full wipe (including factory reset) and install nightly 5, there is a bit improved performance..
Press THANKS button if helped..
That would mean I only get improvements
If i make a full wipe. Or?

Not exactly. Myabe yes, maybe no. That's the reason we flash the same rom very times.
Wipe just cache, and dalvik cache, if you don't wanna miss your data. You are in a older nightly, there is no big problem.
But, i recomend to do full wipe. Allways.
Hope i've helped.

Are you sure, you didnt miss any wipe? Full wipe = factory reset + dalwik wipe. Most ppl forget dalwik wipe, which often results in several bugs
Yes im sure i have had do a full wipe.
Before im using zeus i used cm7, can this be the problem?

Which Zeus did you flash? 6.35n or 6.35o? You could try the other and see if it works.
Maybe you also skipped an important update. Make sure you read the zeus post again.

Try another ROM please and tell us, if it works with this one. If it does work, you made a mistake while flashing. Which version exactly did you flash? Did you surely make a factory reset and a dalvik wipe? Try this one e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736985
Report back about the results. And maybe make a backup, in case you want to restore the version of zeus, you recently got installed on your phone.
Clean the data, one time it worked for me:
Settings -> Applicaitons -> Manage applications -> Google Play Store -> Clean data (or something like this)
Thanks for the quick answer, i have had flash zeus rom since v 4 and then i changed to cm7 then if i want to change to zeus back i have got this problem
And yes i have wiped all and done a factory reset and i have also cleaned cache i think the problem are when i am on the setup assistant and i want to sign in the assistant has a fc

Use titanium back up application
Skip the sign in google at starting stage
With titanium back up wipe data of play store
Clear catch of play store or google market if it is old version
Reboot
Then again sign
I have faced lots of time this issue and got it working
You can download titanium back up or similar application from net in the form of .apk form and copy to sd card and via file manager install it
But you have to allow application installation from outside source in setting in application in settings

The best method is also as below
In manage application in setting
Find play store
Click it
Clear catch and clear data
Reboot
Then sign in again
May it also work

If you are selecting version based on v20o then update must be of Base of v20o
I mean over v6.3o it must be v6.36o or v6.37o

You should re-flash gapps from ROM Manager. Remember to wipe dalvik cache. Dont tick wipe data and cache if you have files you need. You may also do clear data if you want.

Since this is the same ROM am I required to wipe/partition or would I be successful by only wiping the dalvik cache and flashing it right over it?

Hi, I know this is probably a real noobie question, but I have only just recently flashed CM9 and used it for a few days. Now I have a few apps that I have been using a lot, but I would like to move to nightlys. Would I have to use VRWipe or something similar to wipe out the current build I have, or can I flash Nightlies right over my current build without wiping anything? What is the best way to go rom CM9, to CM9 Nightly?
Wipe the caches and system in cwm an flash overtop, then flash gapps

backup
You should however get into the habit of using a backup software. Titanium backup works real well.
Hi everybody! Thanks a lot in advance for your support...really helpful!
Well, after a while eventually i tried installing C.M. 10.1 on my gorgeous CM10, for a boost of coolness and the sw improvements, but had some issues along the path.
It seems alla right on the first place, but then i tried and the play store (and some other app like waze) wouldn't work.
So i tried to replace the gapps:
Install them from CWM couple of wipe cache, couple of dalvik wipe...and a reboot.
But then the entire sistem stop working.
What did I screw up?
Did I miss the "Clear data factory reset" step? Was it necessary?
Grazie from Italy guys!!

Usually clearing the data of the application in settings>apps solves the problem.
R: Upgrade from CM10 to 10.1...play store not working???
...so I was right? I did screw up the whole thing when I skipped the "clear data-factory reset" step?

The easiest solution is for you to reflash the ROM with all wipes its op suggests an make sure the gapps are for that ROM because they can be the cause of problems too

I have leaked jb rom lsa I want to flash paranoid android rom. In CWM recovery if I choose clean before flashing new ROM I wont need to do wipe. If it's needed can you give me some tips what steps I should do to always flash a ROM successfully.

I always do a full wipe prior to flashing a new rom to make sure there are absolutely no old configs left.
1: backup
2: factory reset/wipe
3: in advanced -> clear dalvik cache.
3: flash rom and gapps
4: reboot. /done

Good but philz settings does more than wipe. It formats the main 4 partitions for even cleaner install.
