Everyone wants to make the rooted Galaxy Note performing complex tasks.
The easiest way to install a secure kernel has CWM using PC Odin. Then you need to remove only the yellow triangle using TriangleAway. Using this application, the fear in many people. Please share your experiences.
Although in the original thread of triangle away it is mention that this may cause problems... As it does in all dev posts.
I have used tri away a lot of times and it worked like a charm.
P. S : this doesn't mean I am 100 sure that nothing will happen the next time. Risk to take.

I, too many times I've used this application and never failed me. That is why I ask if others have had problems with TriangleAway.
for me, I used it on my phone and friends phone many times and there was no problem at all although in the original post it is mentioned that it is dangerous operation!!!
I think it is matter of luck.. it doesn't mean if it work for me it will work for you.. you have to carry some risk.. and how can you enjoy the life without carrying some risks!!!
I think there is no report till date.

Depends on how the dev accessed the risk and what caused known issues. Probably Chainfire will have more insight

I have never read any report of brick by using it, even though it is said dangerous by developers.
I think even if it can cause brick it should be soft brick, not hard brick.

When I started in note world and when you could root with cwm.zip and somehow once in stock ics .. The cwm.zip was declared dangerous the only way to get root and get a safe kernel for some days was flashing notecore and every other safe kernel was pc odin then triangle away.. You must remember this period clearly.. I had to use triangle away once and when rebooted the procedure did deleted all my folders and launcher setups.. Also the device was acting weird and buggy and had to restock to gb with pc odin and wait for a solution to root ics without flashing kernels with pc odin.. I'm staying away from triangle away for ever.. Even when my note 2 gets home if the only method to root its flashing stuff with pc odin that will get me a triangle well guess I won't root my device until there's a method that leads me to avoid triangle away at all costs

Indeed I never used triangle away in my device
But for everyone it is difficult to choose long path. Afaik
Note 2is concerned we must have to use triangle away if you want to root, as since some time samsung stock recovery no more allowing test sign zip file from recovery. In this condition I don't think we may have any alternative.

I have only experienced issue with Triangle Away when using Speedmod and Franco kernels. If I use Triangle Away, I always flash a CF kernel before running the app. Then I revert to my kernel of choice thereafter.
You do not have to. If there is a triangle and the counter shows a custom ROM, you can use the triangle and leave the kernel.

This is a good idea once root and then as long as try to preserve root.
Here particularly in Note problem is more just b'coz of brick bug, here we have to care all the time and look for all the aspect to escape from it. Note 2 and SGS 3 reported brick bug free so i dont think there should be much complicated.
Though i have not used TA in my device but in samsung tab and galaxy 3 i have to use it at least >15 time, but never cause any issue.

Anyways I do still think this whole rooting thing it's plain stupid... It should be like windows.. You can choose either if you want limited account or administrator account.. And then choose a sub level of protección UAC like Wich can go from no protection at all or very limited access to stuff.. But then that's up you... It's your damn device..
Like if you gonna give a phone to your kids or wife you can set up a limited account and set parental control etc to protect them from inadequate/dangerous content.. Not worrying about rooting or losing it.. Plain lame

right... but i guess most of the users get triangle away when they are stuck in a boot loop and PC odin seems to rescue (if no nandroid backup)
I invite all who used TriangleAway to share their insights and experiences on the application.
I've not had the yellow triangle for a long time now and therefor not used the TA app lately. But before I ran it several times from many different rom versions and kernels. Have probably used it more than 30 times and never experienced/noticed any kind of issues. It seems to be very stable and solid to me, or maybe I was just lucky, who knows.

Hi I have a question regarding the flash counter. I have read some posts on this but I still need some clarifying. I understand that the flash counter increases for every flash and this is how samsung know this. You also get the triangle thing as well. I also understand that there is the USB jig to reset the flash counter and remove the triangle thing. Now what I am not sure of is the bits with flashing and not increasing the flash counter.
Flashing with PC odin without using stock firmware increade it; right?
Flashing with mobile odin does not increase it; right?
Flashing with CMW does not increase it; right?
I have rooted my phone but I don't CMW. So mobile odin is the only one I can use for flashing. Can anyone please comfirm the three questions above is a yes.
Thanks

For first question juat i rearrange words
any custom rom/kernel flash with pc odin, raise counter.
Rest two exactly yes

Yes, you're right.
However, I'd start with Gingerbread roms if I were you. Almost all early ICS roms have pretty complicated flashing procedures to set the root kernel, and it might prove too much for a new flasher.
GB roms, OTOH, are safe for you to play with until you gain more experience and knowhow.

OTOH = on the other hand
When ics was first leaked I flashed through mobile odin and my counter increased to 1. I then flashed a custom kernel through odin so I had cwm back and increased my counter to 2. There's some software called triangle away which apparently works to reset counter but I'm a bit dubious about editing the bootloader as this could royally screw up the phone

Not saying that bricking is impossible, of course, but no-one had complained so far.

hi there...just superbricked my n7000 n got recover by using manual re-partition...after manually repartition i notice that about 3gb space on internal storage cannot be use that we called bad sector...now i just have about 9gb internal storage...is there other guide or technic to gain the 3gb bad sector back...
sory for my english...
Don't know if it would work or not, bad sects ore are usually marked as such due to being physically unusable, but you could run e2fsck (Google it) via terminal emulator. Or run DD (again, Google) with dev/null being the source file, that would wipe out any corrupted data, may have to be run more than once, two seems to be the magic number when used to do a routine wipe on my phone.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
By repartition you will get your note working again, but *will* loose about 3gb of your internal memory. No solution to it.
Even if you do manage to unmark the bad sectors, it will just get your phone to the position it was in before you repatitioned. I think it will be as good as bricked again.
Better option, if your binary count is zero, you are on stock kernel and your note is under warranty, get it replaced under warranty.

Hi All,
Recently I've also super-bricked my phone. I've tried reparation by pit but I loose precious 3GB from Internal memory.
then again I've bricked my phone and gave to SSC. Hope I get e-mmc replaced.

Edit: Got my phone from SSC with new board.
Hello everyone,
I am on a stock german ICS and trying out Dr.Ketan's root method.
I have done everything as described, but when i get to CWM it keeps rebooting into itself every time i press any button.
Wondering what is happening with my phone, it sometimes also just reboots entirely out of itself (usually on almost low battery).
Bit scared of flashing with Odin and especially what kernel/rom fits my phone best, any help would be greatly appreciated!

As of now, until further notice, CWM.zip is deemed unsafe to use. Check the thread in the general section. Dr. Ketan has also updated the root guide to reflect this. So if you want to root, you're going to have to use pc odin and flash one if the safe kernels in .tar format like notecore, speedmod, etc. Then use triangle away to reset binary counter.

Btw whats up with these annoying captcha codes on every post?

Not sure I can help you there. I use a windows x64 machine. Typically though you have to install Samsung Kies or Samsung usb drivers first before pc odin will recognize the phone in download mode. So maybe try installing usb drivers first?

There is a counter that logs how many times you have flashed your device. You can use triangle away [app] to reset this counter back to zero. You must have root access to do this which means you must be rooted.
My suggestions
1. Look around the forums for a stable custom tom for your device
2. Flash a battery friendly kernel.
3. Don't forget to back up your apps.

Woooo thank you very much this helped and why is it that u have to reset thw counter for it to go better?
So I tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A with Odin but it went wrong somewhere along the way and now the phone won't start up. When I try to start up, the screen says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" But when I tried to recover in Kies, it always gets to the end and then says that the PC can't recognize my mobile device. I can still access download mode but that's about it. I have tried looking EVERYWHERE and there is no solution! someone please help! D:
Also, I found something online that says that I can recover through Odin and I went through the whole process but when I start flashing, it says FAIL so that didn't work for me either
Did you use RDLV on MJ5 to root? If so, that's probably what bricked you.

That just showed off why your phone got bricked. Rooting a phone got some responsibility. Let this be a lesson for you and read before you root. You will need to download the stock firmware and flash this through Odin. I guess you still can enter Download mode?
Wi-Fi Issues
I also need some help here... I did successfully root my note 3, however whenever I install a custom rom such as knoxraid or azure, my wi-fi will not work at all.
The wi-fi will be on from a clean flash, but once I try to connect to any network (I've only tried those with passwords), the wi-fi grays out and I can no longer turn it on or off. I haven't encountered anyone else with the same problem, and I have tried deleting the rom partitions and recreating them.
Disclaimer: I don't have enough posts to post in the dev forums, so that's why I'm posting here. Sorry about that.
Dearest Becky, im so sorry girl..
butchya may be fuct for a lil while let me tell ya why..
This same thing happened to me!!
I looked everywhere for an easy solution BUT THERE IS NONE !! Yet.
The reason why is because there are no easy "Odin back to stock files" yet is because at&t is a fn a-hole and locked the bootloader !!
I brikt my shıt about 4 days after I brought it home from costco.
I combed through the interwebs for the 48 hrs straight like a mad tweaker!! because of course this is our 800 dollar babies we're talking about !!
I kept getting the same error message as you are mentioning about the kies update connect your pc blah and so I tool it back to costco and played dumb and said that I got a notification to update and clicked ok and it did some stuff and "now its stuck on this screen with some error??" .. the lady at the kiosk looked it up and down and said someone else had come in last week with the same error message . LoL !!
I walked out of there with a brand new baby !!
Maybe you can do the same thing? Just hoping you are within your return timeframe.
your last but definitely not last worst case scenerio option is to stick your sim card in another phone and wait till someone from our awesome family here finds away around/through that damn bootloader and drops the beautiful Odin+files to give new birth to your 5.7 beast of an angel !!
Hope this helped in any sort of way. Good luck dear Sister!!
Please let us know how it goes. I think there are many brothers and sisters desperate as F and in ypur same predicament.
This is your best bet.

For anyone Reading this thread for similar issues
What probably happened is she attempted to root de LA Vega method while she was on firmware mj5 rdlv method is based on mi9 and die to this it will soft brick your device.
Unfortunately att diff not release an Odin file for mj5 or even put it on kies.
One of or members figured out how to fiddle with the files we have access to to flash a hybrid of mi9 and mj5
Making it possible to more or less recover from an mj5 brick.
Follow his steps completely and you will wind up with a stock rooted os.
But since this is such an odd way to recover I chose to use kingo to root.
Xda doesn't support kingo dir to hour closed they are in their methods and the fact it is not apparent how they are funding themselves. so you'll have to Google it. It was one of the easiest root methods I've done on a device it installs chainfires su. It is completely removable and I personally believe it is the lest chance of a brick method.
