Hey,
iv'e got an HTC Velocity 4G (Vodafone Germany) running RUU with Android 2.3.
Locked Bootloader, WXC Recovery, Root and S-OFF.
I've tried many Roms but it didn't worked.
I've done everything from the Superguide, only one Step wasn't possible.
After getting S-Off i couldn't update the H-Boot.
I still have a Gingerbread H-Boot.
Is that why all the Roms don't work?

Yes - that is certainly your problem. Be sure to read those steps carefully, and do them in order as they appear in the Superguide.

Thanks, i managed to update my Hboot. Now i've got an ics hboot =)
But unfortunatelly flashing ROM's still don't work for some reasons
When i flash the zip files with WCX, i wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvic cache then go install the zip rom.
I tried De-Sensed1.6 from Wajee and Holics, after successfully flashing, i reboot and the Roms won't start --> Bootloop or back zu recovery
Then i restore my backup and everything works.
Maybe, those ROMs don't work for my device

Did you use the CWM from Hasoons Tool or the Touch?
Edit: tried it. I installed cwm and flashed holics and failed into boot loop, couldn't even access recovery anymore. I gave up. Back to RUU.

But i'm back to RUU and i'm gonna stay like that, till someone managed to flash some Roms on the Velocity 4G from Germany.
I tried everything. =P I've read that some Roms do need to be on ICS first and then flash. Maybe that's the error because the Velocity in Germany
ist still on GB.

Question (anyone)?
If you are already S-off, rooted, and using the .92 bootloader, will flashing the zip cause a loss of S-off, or any other disasters?
Considering giving it a shot, but don't want to spend the evening rerooting or getting into something I can't get back out of.
Input welcome...
sorry...I was on the phone

No. I did that and was fine. I used the PB31IMG.zip

OK flashed it fine. Now, I see that the unlocking process wipes the phone clean. Will I still be able to boot into CWM recovery and restore a nand backup? Or will I have to reflash CWM 5.0.2.0?
Edit: I'll still be S-off, right?

Actually I think the wipe process with unlocking fails if you're on CWM. I didn't lose CWM or data when I did it.
Yes. I still am S-OFF when I did it rooted.
But you may not need this unlocked bootloader as you can already flash radios and recoveries from the bootloader (HBOOT) and kernels, ROMs and recoveries from CWM with s-off alone.
I got it just so I could use fastboot to flash kernels which if you flash with fastboot on this device you may need to still manually push the corresponding wifi module if the version string changes - not necessarily each time you switch kernels either. For my gingersense kernels that would only be if you switch between gingertiny 2.6.35.10, gingertiny-v2 2.6.35.13 and gingertiny-2.6.35.14. For incredikernel that may be quite different.
Sorry, I'm rambiling and should be asleep but just so hyper.
Yeah, I know it wasn't needed. But I felt it had to be done. Anyhow, something got wiped, cause it hung on the boot screen forever. Finally pulled the battery, booted into recovery, and restored my fresh backup. 1.02 bootloader, unlocked, and up and running again.
Thanks for all the help. I see you edited your post about the same time I was banging away in command prompt. All my SDK tools were scattered around and needed updating, which stretched it out. Once again, that feeling you get when something works despite your best efforts.
Thanks+
After a gut-wrencher like that, some sleep sounds good.

Not sure about flashing a newer recovery through fastboot.....but you can also download rom manager from the market and update your cwm that way....
The Bootloader
can you update the hboot while running a custom rom without bricking.

How are you trying to flash it? You just take this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Recoveries/CWM_5.0.2.0/PB31IMG.zip, and place it on your sdcard in no folders. Then boot to hboot and wait a few secs. It should automaticly find the file and prompt you to press vol up to update.
Fastboot flashing images wont work unless your bootloader in unlocked.
Edit: Didnt realize this post was so old.

Yes you can as long as your s-off. This thread is actually old and a newer version hboot 1.07
DOWNLOAD: http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/Hboot_1.07/PB31IMG.zip
MD5: http://dinc.does-it.net/Hboots/Hboot_1.07/PB31IMG.zip.md5 has been released. However if your s-off there is no need to update, as you can already flash thru hboot. The only advantage is being able to fastboot flash imgs.
If you s-on the only way to update is to do an ruu, which will wipe the phone and require you to reroot and flash a backup.

All you need is the latest version of TWRP. If you do some reading the latest firmware isn't compatible with TWRP 2.5.0.0
So you need 2.6.3.0 (I think it's the number) download it and connect your phone in fastboot and the command you use is fastboot flash recovery (recovery name here)
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
The S-Off process is a requirement to be allowed to DOWNGRADE your firmware through an RUU process. Do not S-On. Why not just go ahead and run the full RUU as an executable file through your computer? Much easier that way.

Yes I did read that 2.6.3 had to be installed before moving up to 4.3 which I did, but in a moment of desperation I thought my backup would save the day but in reality it took me back to 2.5.5 and made things worst. So now my recovery is also unresponsive.

Your s-off so you can just use an ruu.exe
You will need to downgrade the firmware first but then flash an ruu to return to stock. All can be done from the bootloader using fastboot.
If you want 100% stock see this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47794190&postcount=3

Thank you. The problem I was encountering was that I needed to relock my bootloader.
I have installed stock but I see another problem. The android version is 4.1.2. with Sense 5.0 and there are no OTA updates available.
Is there a way that I can enable my OTA updates again?

I' m not sure lol. The one that you linked me refused to work so I got one off of the htc1guru website that matched my version number and that one worked instead. I maybe clicked on the wrong link and downloaded the wrong version if you think it is the wrong one, this is the file name.
RUU Zip M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4

I am yes, I think the problem is that the file is 990MB but for some reason my download keeps stopping at 330MB thus the file being incomplete.
Is there another link for the .zip file other than htc1guru? Theirs for some reason won't seem to download fully for me.

Of course it will not work, you should always check the md5 value after downloading the file so you can confirm its not corrupted.
