Touchwiz ICE look on Stock rooted GB ROM - Android Themes

I finally gave up on trying to make ICE work on my Epic 4G Touch and reflashed the stock rooted EL29 plus rogue recovery.
Now though I find myself missing some of the look and feel of ICE.
The short if it is in trying to port over or replicate the look of the ICS Touchwiz on GB. Any ideas?
I've already installed the newest beta of Swype and that really helped.

Should I root my phone?

I got the samaung galaxy s 4g a few weeks. I was using a rooted g1 with froyo 2.2 on it. My friend has the samssung vibrant and hes bricked it twice and had to send it to tmobile. Is it worth rooting my phone and flashing gingerbread on it. My galaxy s 4g is running 2.2.1 I just wanted to delete some of the preinstalled apps to clear up somw space and get some more ram? Any ideas without having to root?

I'd say its not reliable yet, most rom chefs are already went back to the JSx roms.

Rooting? Yeah for sure, its always nice to have it rooted.
Gingerbread? Wait some more, as mentioned before its not perfect yet, 2.2.1 is still more stable and better for daily use. Sammy will bring out the official ginger soon and then It wont be long before the stable roms leave the kitchen
yes you should root - no steer clear of vm1. Its a very buggy beta and the clean final is imminent in any case.
After rooting suggest you experiment with flashing any of the excellent 2.2.1 custom roms out there - then when the gingerbread roms come out you will be experienced enough to take advantage of those.
That is the best advice I can give to you
oh, and do plenty of reading in this excellent forum - there's plenty of brilliant advice - but you have to take the trouble to find and read it all

[Q] I9000 themes

I like to know if i can flash I9000 themes that are based on JVO.
If i'm gonna have a problem, what kind of problems am i gonna get?
losing home haptic is not a problem since i don't use it anyway.
BTW I'm on continuum v5.5
different framework ... continuum 5.5 is jvh based if you flash a jvb theme onto that it will bootloop
continuum is jvo. so if it's same framework' it'll work?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Oh I'm sorry I misread that earlier, yes you "should" be able to use jvo themes on it, the worst that can happen from an incompatible theme is a bootloop, so if you are gonna try an untested theme put another continuum theme that is proven to work on your sdcard as well, that way if the one you are testing loops you can just flash the other one and be up and running.
oh ok Thank you!

Best stock rooted rom?

Hey guys so I'm looking for the closest to stock rooted rom as to be honest.... I'm bored of the rest.

Then just flash a stock ROM and root it.
I think SuperOSR is close to stock. Has some CM Parts. No script a2sd--
Have you checked into any Modaco roms--he stays fairly stock also--
Oxygen2.2.2 very close to stock.

AOKP

I wonder how hard it would be to port the AOKP to the captivate. I got a chance to play with it on the facinate and it was very nice with a ton of customization.
I see it is already on the i9000. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I read somewhere that any i9000 rom could be used on the crappy you just had to replace the kernel. I could be wrong anybody?

Isn't one already out there? I didn't replace the kernel until recently, I would suggest not to change the kernel. Had better battery life until i recently changed the kernel.

AOKP Rom
I've been running that ROM for a few days and I love it. It still seems so great to be able to run Ice Cream Sandwich on my Capitivate!

Liberty3 2.0 allows you to remove the Blur launcher and use an AOSP one in its place. For the battery life especially, Liberty3 was my favorite GB ROM before I went to ICS.
Liberty3 2.0 ROM
I agree with pgzerwer, ROMs are much easier to find and navigate over at Droid Forums.

This same feature is in mavrom. Mavrom has continued support. Liberty does not. Just trying to help you make a decision.

Nice! Didn't know that! I wished Liberty still had support when I used it. I'd suggest Mav now that I have this knowledge, unless max battery life is worth trading support...even though Liberty seems pretty decent as it sits.
