Is there a way? I think my charging port is dying, and I don't have the cash to get a nexus. Quite frankly I would of left it stock if I knew about the "relocked" bootloader thing

There is a tool somewhere in this forum that you can use to change the word from relocked to locked or whatever you want. It wont change the status but make it seem like its back to stock...
People have reported that it says locked after returning to s-on using this threads method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630569
But there's also been reports of it not returning to locked...but if you need it locked then its worth a try I guess...

I have an N1 that is rooted and has CM6 on it. My employer wants the phone back so I need to put stock 2.2 on this puppy and re-lock the phone.
is this possible -- if so, how?
Tell you what... its a company phone.
If you want test something for us. Flash the Holiday HBOOT file to the nexus one and see if it removes the lock system on the phone or atleast the security so you can relock it .
Please oh please try it
nothing like that - they don't care. It's not under warranty anyway.
They just want the phone back and I thought I'd re-stock it.

follow a thread to upgrade the hboot downgrade it and flash the holiday hboot through fastboot
Huh so can you lock unlocked nexus ones? By using holiday hboot?

Just flash original passimg file, don't worry about the unlocked bootloader. Your work wont know the diferrence.

I thought all nexus ones were under a one year warranty. Or is that only in the USA?
My HTC Velocity is unlocked, s-off and has lived a good life of forever shifting ROM's however a mandate has come down from above that they are rolling out a new antivirus package at work that detects all these shenanigans and reports it back, is there any way, now that I have s-off to relock the boot-loader without it saying "re-locked" and just saying locked like it did originally?
I'm not sure if that would actually be detected I have a feeling it only really detects rooting, however but it would be a nicety to get it back to totally stock.
Difficult answer to find with the associated keywords, sorry if this is a repost I did attempt to search for it.
I could be wrong, but as far as I know you should just have to relock your bootloader with the file you should have saved somewhere that let you originally unlock it and then run the RUU that's floating around here somewhere. Just make sure you download the correct RUU for what you want (the official ICS one is like 400 something MBs I think).

OP does not want the boot loader to say re-locked.
AFAIK there is no way to do this. I have re-locked mine a few times and it always says re-locked.
Thanks, as above I have relocked many times, bummer can't get rid of re-lock

Thanks esloan, I will take a crack at that
Awesome thanks, was hoping for a way to put it back to stock totally in case of a warrant claim etc.

the method mentioned above worked perfectly btw
Want to root but.. i am worried about warranty i have rooted other phones and tablet before (HTC Legend, Sensation and Nexus 7) I just got my HTC one recently i am on a contract only thing thats keeping me away from rooting is because when i rooted my Nexus 7 the usb port actually stop working twice got it replace luckily the guy who looked at it had no clue what he was doing. How will i restore my warranty afterwards rooting
If you will unlock your phone, you will lose warranty.
Because in bootloader you will have "unlocked" and "tampered".
You can delete "tampered" with an official ruu for your phone, but for the unlock you have to wait the s-off...
Even if you need to leave it back for repairs and you've unlocked the bootloader and rooted nothing will likely be said, I know as i only got my phone back last week and it had to be sent to HTC direct in the UK (bad flash ****ed up the phone) it was sent back to me with nothing said.

Does anyone know tmobile position on warranty replacements on unlocked devices being returned? And what has to be done for tmobile or HTC to initiate a warranty replacement?

Probably be wise to go the S-Off route so you can LOCK the bootloader and not RE-LOCKED?
Can you relock it without the stock RUU+
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
No RUU is needed unless you've installed a custom ROM as well. Either use the RUU or restore from a stock nandroid for your CID, then flash the stock recovery, and lock it with revone
Any luck?
I'm having some hardware issues with my HTC one, but I'm afraid to send it to TMobile for exchange as I flashed the bootloader with the GPE, and I don't know how to restore all they way back to stock (and might be risky).

It's not risky as long as you follow the directions. Just use the RUU and it will overwrite everything. You still have to change the bootloader status with revone or something.

Actually it was a pretty easy process by following the following guide and some xda posts http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
It really depends what's wrong with your phone. Unlocking your bootloader does NOT automatically void your warranty. I don't understand how that paranoia was allowed to spread so quickly and so far. I once took an HD2 back to T-Mobile running ANDROID on it. The guy just said "that's awesome" and sent it in for warranty repair. I got it back with winmo again but still. Point is you should really just go ask. If all else fails THEN you can go through all the relocking and returning to stock steps...
And before we get all the usual responses of "warranty says.."" when you unlock it it says..." And so on and so on, warranties are made to protect the consumer, you. Not the manufacturer/carrier. Unless something you flashed on it specifically broke it. They have to honor the warranty.
So i just got this beast, and I am wondering if I am able to flash a Sense rom on this since out the box I didnt come with it?
Is your bootloader locked or unlocked?
If you have google edition, most people are not able to use fastboot oem unlock, but give it a shot.
Oh ok its unlocked

Never LOCK it then. Or say goodbye to it!
If you have unlocked bootloader, you will need to flash custom recovery, root, and then run one of the S-OFF apps, like rumrunner or firewater. If it fails, verify your adb and fastboot are good and device responds.
Thanks!

Guys some clarification. ... I have the HTC Google Edition phone not Rom. Is this as easy to root and tinker with as a Nexus?

yes it is
Unless your bootloader is locked. Then you're mostly screwed for options

im one of the few that actually have a real GPE. and as said with the replies above..if you already bootloader unlocked keep it that way and also s-off if you're going to tinker. i have been unlocked and soff since 4.3 and from reading all the stuff in here going to kitkat was a pita if you were s-off so very thankful i was.
so if you're going to tinker never relock or s-on your device ever again. it WILL be saving your phone. for the most part anything aosp will work given you have the right recovery .most roms need the latest twrp or cwm.
