[Q] Switching Raiders? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

My wife and I both have raider 4G's. She dropped her phone and broke it. I am going to get a Hardware upgrade for free. but I want her to have my raider. I tryed to do a nandroid back up on her phone and put the sd card in my phone and do a restore but it kept giving me an error and telling me to check the log. What am I doing wrong and where is this log I can check?
Both Rogers HTC Raider4G
Both running Stock rooted
Both with WCX Recovery

I dont know much about WCX's recovery but I wonder if it stores something device-specific to make sure it's being restored to the correct device? What is the exact error message when you attempt to restore?

It just told me to look in the log. But I don't know where to find the log?

After you get the error, go to the main menu, choose Other, then Move recovery.log to SD. Now recovery.log will be on your SD and you can open it in a text editor

[Rom][10-31-11]Stock Rooted ZV4

Here is the easiest way to return to stock from Revolt or Rehomed. This is the stock system and boot.imgs. You can do it all from your phone, and you do NOT need to unroot.
What is this?
This is the ZV4 stock system and boot.img. I bascially disassembled the stock rooted system.img posted by thecubed and made it into a cwm zip.

How do I install this?
1.) Download the .zip & make sure 4g is enabled.
2.) Place zip in external sdcard
3.) I recommend to wipe data to prevent any problems
4.) Go to install zip from sdcard
5.) Select StockRootedZV4.zip
6.) Reboot
7.) Install RevoToolKit
8.) Follow instructions of replacing cwm with stock recovery
9.) After stock recovery you can check for updates!!!

Very Excited. This should make life much easier, with fewer steps. Thanks MT. All your "overtime" you are putting into this is very much appreciated.
So, say someone wasn't in 4G mode when they reflashed to stock, and did /data wipe.. and now gets "your phone needs a SIM card to activate" when back at the "select your language", etc...
I assume this is because I wasn't in 4G mode, but not sure. Any number of reboots with SIM card/battery pull/reseats or return to revolt {pick a version} roms doesn't help. I have no boot loops or freezes, just can't get past activation to do anything (other than make an "emergency call")
Would flashing with LGNPST back to the .tot file potentially get me to a better spot or is it time to visit my friends at Verizon?
Thanks mt. I will be flashing this soon. Downloading directly to the phone onto the sim card. Hopefully I can get GB and gingervolt later today!!
I've Revolted have you?? Sent via tapatalk plugin.
Sucks for me I guess. Still says there are no updates for my phone.
Am I missing something? do I need to unroot? etc

Try restoring a back up rather than flashing a zip and see if that works.

It was a good day to have 2 4G LTE devices.. was able to use SIM from Xoom and get through activation and download of V6. Then switched back to Revo SIM and all worked fine..GB/V7 is downloading as we speak and I seem to be back in business. Back on track to get to GingerVolt at some point later today Thanks!

What's the best way to install RevoToolkit? Via the XDA page or installing the zip downloaded from the XDA page? Thanks!

Install RevoToolKit and then install the stock "recovery" with it. That will get rid of cwm.

[NEEDED] 6.893 100% stock backup

Does anyone have a backup of 6.893?
Typically I am very diligent, but somehow I forgot to make a backup of stock.
I have not switched to any other update. I have read through everything thoroughly and I apologize for failing to follow instructions. With 5 android devices and multiple flashes I have never missed this before. And I realized it as soon as I flashed TH3ORYS rom
From what I gather the easiest and most effective way to get back on track is to flash a stock 6.893 rom make a backup and move on from there.
I appreciate anyone's help!
I am also open to using this thread or creating one in delopment to post the stock roms of every version.

Not entirely true. His system will be back to 5.5.886, but his kernel/radio will be his previously upgraded 5.6.893. He is off the upgrade path until he gets the matching system file of 5.6.893. Only then can he continue updating. I just went through this exact thing, used the one step recovery, but went back to .886 and had to beg to find someone to send me a CWR back up of their 5.6.893, which got me back on track.
Oh yeah...nevermind. I completely thought you were wanting stock not the ota. That's what I get for speed reading.

I'm in the same situation. Yes, all attempts to upgrade fail because our sys filed don't match our radio. I need this nandroid as well.

Giving someone a backup made on your device or restoring a backup made on someone else's device is an extremely foolhardy proposition. You are cloning the Android_id from one device to the other, which means that apps that use it as an identifier will push and pull data from both devices without any intervention from the unknowingly affected user.
system img
correct me if im wrong but, all we need is the system img right because im stuck with a hybrid
Does anyone know if restoring my 5.893 back up will work, or create a hybrid? I ask because I think it is the same radios?

Check your pms and please don't share in case there is some of my data still left in the backup. just download all the files and put them in a folder and put in your clockwork backup folder on your sd/ext, probably the best way is to restore with advanced restore and just restore system only.

I have really been through the ringer today. I started off this morning by noticing that I had no data at all. I was on 6.893 and TH3ORYROM 2.1 and have been for a few days with no trouble until today when I lost data. I tried everything to get it back, but nothing. I called VZW to make sure there wasn't a network problem in my area and they suggested that I try everything that I had already done (bat. pull, sim card re-register, turn off LTE radio, etc). When they couldn't fix anything, they wanted to transfer me to tier 2 tech support, but they apparently need to talk to me on a different phone so they can diagnose this one, but I didn't have access to another phone. So I decided I would try to flash one of the updates hoping it would reflash the radio file and wake it up. When I got home, I used the R3L3AS3DRoot to restore to stock and tried to install 7.893, but the update failed. I searched around and tried every method I could to get any of the updates to install, but nothing worked, still no 3g either. Eventually, in my desperate attempt to fix this myself I decided to wipe everything and start over. I wiped the webtop partition. I think that's what really screwed me up, because nothing else I did was any different that what I've done in the past. After wiping everything, I went back to the R3L3AS3DRoot and tried to run it. No matter which option I selected, it seemed to run fine, but I couldn't boot past the fastboot screen. I tried to fxz using RSD Lite, but every flash I tried failed. Then, in a panic, I came across P3's moto-fastboot method used to "get you back on the update path". I ran that and it freaking worked!! Then I figured I'd try to get up to 7.893, but I've tried absolutely everything I can find mention of and nothing works. Every install fails. I am getting some intermittent 3G now though. And to top it all off, I discovered that none of the nandroid backups I've made will restore and most of them don't even exist. I just discovered that I needed to check "use external storage" for the backups to take. I thought I had been covering my ass by making backups, but they weren't valid. Currently I have stock, rooted phone with an intermittent 3G signal. System Version 5.5.886, baseband CDMA_N_03.1C.57RLTEDC_U_05.15.02, kernel [email protected] #1, and build number 5.5.1_84_DBN-55. As I sit now, my plan is to see how it acts tomorrow and if I still have a lot of trouble with data, I will return it to stock unrooted and take it into a Verizon store and see if they will let me try a new SIM card. I don't really know what else to do at this point.

I would like to flash Gingervolt to my revo. Every thread I look at says that the first step in doing so is to use CWM to make a back up. I try to install using rom manager and it brings up a list of phones that I have to pick from. I am sure you are all aware of this and I am being a HUGE noob right now but I searched the forums and didn't see anything about this. I Would really appreciate the help as to how i go about getting cwm for my phone and how to back up my phone.

Don't flash gingervolt yet. Are you using froyo, or gingerbread? Then you need cwm, which is part of our oneclick program in the development section. Then you make that back up.

Ok so I put CWM on using one click or whatever. I used quick boot to go into recovery. The Rom manager logo was there and it says CWM- Based Recovery V5.0.2.7. I pressed back up and backed up my entire system and that is the last thing I have done. My question is if i were to mess something up how would I make my phone go to the previous back up. Get rid of rom manager. You do not need it. There is no good that will come of it. To many things can go wrong lol.
Use the all in one, it has a reboot recovery option now, after installing and it reboots, select reboot recovery. If it goes into it, then you are all set.

You do not have to wipe data, it is an option if you want a clean start. I would run your phone as it is for a couple Weeks and if it acts up, then consider a data wipe when other options have been used.

If your problem is transferring files, can you not go to recovery and use usb-ms (while attached to the computer) which will then open the memory of the phone on the computer. That's what I did to transfer stock ruu when I recently bricked my evo 4g.

[Q] MD5 mismatch Help? [Solved]

Ok so here's the story. I figured it was just a bad flash so I went and erased it and thought I would try figure it out when I got home. So I then went and formatted the phone and tried to restore my PAC backup I'd made and it said "MD5 mismatch. What the deal ? Is my stuff gone just gone ?

Did you rename the backup folder name? If you did, take out any spaces in the name and try again. You'll need another ROM to flash so you can change it.
