Ok so here's the story. I went and backed up my current rom because I wanted to see if I could flash Batakang Rises with cwm (It did flash after I manually mounted the system) but it got stuck in a bootloop. I figured it was just a bad flash so I went and erased it and thought I would try figure it out when I got home. So I then went and formatted the phone and tried to restore my PAC backup I'd made and it said "MD5 mismatch. What the deal ? Is my stuff gone just gone ?

Did you rename the backup folder name? If you did, take out any spaces in the name and try again. You'll need another ROM to flash so you can change it.

I think I figured it out. I have the back ups installed in the external SD. Here's the thing though. I went to rom manager and its not giving me the option to have the ext SD as the primary. (I have the pro version) so im guessing that its not reading my sd. what's the deal with that?

It seems the lagfix screws up nandroid backups. I suggest uninstalling it then creating your backup.
You have to first flash ClockworkMod then do your backup. I do this by going into recovery just below the clockwork flash. Once getting into recovery menu choose the option for Nandroid, be patient it can take a full 10 minutes or more just be patient and let do it's thing. It may appear to hang but just let it run, it will take longer on certain files.

Gunny it just takes a little bit to get through that part. I thought the same thing but I just left it alone and it just took an extra few minutes and it did get through it.

depends on which one you used. The ext4 one and and the ext2 versions both have uninstallers.

I've never had a problem running nandroid backup and i'm using one of the lagfixes (damned if i remember which). I'm still using stock however, until the 2.1 (or even 2.2?) ROM scene gets a little more seasoned.
Must be just me then. I couldn't get nandroid backup/restore to work

Nandroid does work with the lagix one click or ext4, people are impatient and panic when it isn't instantly zipping through processes. I ran one last night and I am running ext4 and SRE.

Are you running the most recent Clockworkmod? I ran it last night, it definitely took a while so just sit tight and let it do it's thing.

I was running 208 ics, and wanted to jump to 217 ics with the new tool for ics only. Ran the tool with the associtated flash file and the update failed. The phone would do nothing but go into stock recovery, so like an idiot I did a factory reset. If there is way to recover the phone please let me know. Thanks.
Just fast boot back and try again.
Make sure you are using the right kernel and have it named correctly, ICSFIX.IMG iirc (though I'd check the instructions)

The program won't connect to the phone anymore. RSD will, but it fails to rewrite the OS

Just got it to connect. I replaced the IMG file with the 213 version, of which I already have the update associted with that IMG file on my SD card. Hopefully it will work.
Looks like a go at this point. Appreciate the help.
I messed my phone up tonight and got it stuck in a bootloop since there is currently no RUU out I'm left with no choice but to go back to the store. Does anyone know if T-Mobile stores have the stock RUU and can restore it?

Hold volume down while it bootloops. I guarantee you'll make it into hboot.

If your problem is transferring files, can you not go to recovery and use usb-ms (while attached to the computer) which will then open the memory of the phone on the computer. That's what I did to transfer stock ruu when I recently bricked my evo 4g.

I'm currently in the process of trying to push a nandroid backup to the device via adb. The problem is that there's no stock ruu for tmobile as of yet so the only choice I have is to recover via a nandroid.

no success at all, I'm gonna head to the tmobile store here in a few and see what I can get worked out
I just came back from the bell store, and they said that they could exchange me for a new one but they don't have any in stock until Tuesday.
I soft bricked my nexus devices dozen times in the past few years, and was easily restored to stock. Lesson learned by me, never root a non nexus device within 1 week of its release.

Why even bother? Just push a ROM, wipe system and data, then flash it.
You don't need a ruu. What did you do to get into a bootloop.

factory reset wont work but luckily i got it taken care of and got my device swapped and no custom kernel
dont know how you did that. ive flashed every rom i could for this device to problem recovering from bootloops
I managed to fixed mine finally, Installed twrp and mounted my USB via otg. Then flashed a custom ROM, rebootef, still suck at the boot screen. Flashed a custom kernel, and it finally got passed the boot screen.
So happy to get my One back up and running again.

had this problem. i sideloaded a rom on and then it was fine. use the m7 all in one to sideload from recovery and it should work fine.
i wanted to switch to other stock rom without deleted my music & pictures on my internal SD. i then was told i could use Superwipe for flashing a new rom without deleting anything from my sd. after i flashed superwipe i then flashed my new rom & as soon as the rom booted up there was no signal being foung on my device, & continuous reboots.
how can i fix this this and flash a functional rom?!?!?!?!?!? im currently in recovery mode
Edit: deleted,

Sounds like whatever Rom you downloaded you either got a bad download or a bad flash, download the Rom again use superwipe and reflash.

If that doesn't work, then as a last resort use the Sprint RUU. everything will be fixed.

Hey guys, I'm new to the one coming from an s4, and after learning all the necessary things I flashed a 4.3 custom Rom over the stock 4.1.2 that I had. Now I've got a massive amount (19.89 gb) of storage from 'other'... I tried deleting certain files that I thought were the culprit(data/media) but after trying to with box Rom toolbox pro and root explorer I have been unsuccessful in removing the folders, they just stick there no matter what I do, even after deleting them all twice over and rebooting several times. Now I've noticed that if I move a file into the 0 folder then suddenly the pictures show up in the gallery after a reboot. However there are still files I don't need and want to get rid of. Anyone for helping?

I've already read through that one, it doesn't help as it seems I cannot delete the folders, outside of data/media/0 as these all persist after a reboot, even after deleting them. File manager says finished deleting and then I reboot, still there, still taking up 7 gb extra space.

yep
looks like im using this phone with only an accessable 2 gigabytes for now. Bummer Hummer
Hate to be that guy, but back everything up (helium for apps and app data, move all media to a computer) and factory reset. It's a pain, I know, but it almost certainly will fix the problem.
I had the save problem, I used a usb otg thing and copied what I wanted, did a factory reset and formatted my storage in twrp, now all is good and transferred the stuff back to the phone storage

This seems to be the only fix, I've tried everything else. Seems it was an issue from going from 4.1.2 to to 4.2.2 also
Ive tried a factory reset, clockwork mod wipe, deleting root folders and nothing works!! :crying: Ill try the twrp format though. because right now i have 11gb in my "other" folder!
UPDATE: holy poop guys that was the most scary bricking Ive ever dealt with!!!!! whatever you guys do, dont format EVERYTHING like I did!!!!

I've been dancing around using the TWRP "format data" option as well, so you are advising against that huh? Why, was it a little more than just factory reset type deal? I need to find a solution to this issue and I know that resetting is the answer, just need to find the best way to go about it. Thanks for the update, and I would love to hear what exactly you went through selecting the TWRP format option!

I formatted EVERYTHING in twrp haha the only way I got my phone back was to downgrade twrp to 2.5.0.0 and use abd sideload ( sideloaded my viper rom) with the htc toolkit program on my pc. And now my "other" folder says 2 gb which I believe is correct. :good: But now I have another problem I went into recovery and installed a zip file that modified the amount of steps i had in my volume, (I have already installed it before and it worked great) now my phone is in a bootloop and Ive already tried flashing a new boot image but it doesn't work....what do i do?
UPDATE: I guess i warned against it because I thought i ruined my phone. Also, I just sideloaded viper rom again to fix my problem
