you'll have to delete GOV/IO file from /system/etc/init.d before you can update kernel on Acecream. In the Final Acecream v1.4, the latest kernel is announced to be included, but currently it is not.
i hv deleted the GOV/IO frm init.d .....oldr kernels works but da new kernel nt workin....

As it says in directions, cm based roms need to be flashed from gb, so yes its likely you are bricked.
What issues are you facing?

I flashed [KERNEL] 03082012-- Battery extender 1.5.1 over stock Stock DDKQ8 2.3.6 . The kernel got updated but I lost root. Can you tell me how to root it again? I tried the installing upd_1.zip from CWM but it fails. Please help me.
Anyway of doing it without CF-Root Kernel i.e by editing boot.img and adding a few scripts. Tried to understand Chainfire's script (Ketut adaptation) for our model inside boot.img file and found he doesn't seem to enable init.d by editing init.rc like this thread suggest. Can someone shed some light please.

I also had similiar issue..
First flash stock recovery via CWM...
Then apply root update zip..
Then revert back to CWM..
It'll work..

Do you know a single thing about android
What you are saying can brick the device.
And I can confirm that the script is working on JellyBlast v3
I am using it
But you need to flash Rafael Kernel for that

If you are using Data2sd-ext fixed.zip file then please tell me how did you installed it, I tried the exact procedure that I did for other ROMs (I tried it on Stock, Simplicty, AndroidScream and works perfectly) but why only in JellyBlast it doesn't works :'( And I don't want to use the other script, I want this one as it simply swaps ext with internal drive. And yes I flashed Rafael's kernel also. Please help me, I love your ROM so much it is the best Jellybean looks rom.....I want it so badly...

Its not my ROM
So I recommend flashing Rafael latest kernel
Then installing JellyBlast and then flashing the script
It works for me
If it does not work
Go to root of your phone to see if there is any sd-ext folder created
If no
Then we would have to check if init.d ix working
Go to /data
And see if there is kuro_tweak1.log there
Tell me after trying

actually you don't need to wipe after installation (unless stated otherwise in roms instructions) i never do and so far i didn't have any problems

Hi friends, I happened to install this ROM with Battery Extender 1.6 Kernel. Wanted to flash BE 1.2. Followed the steps. Showed installation Complete. But I still dont know how do i make sure the kernel flashed properly? Can somebody help please?
The kernel is the "Heart" of the ROM" and without the kernel the ROM wouldn't boot
so If after flashing the Kernel BE 1.2 from recovery, the ROM booted fine then I must say that kernel got flashed successfully
And you can make sure if the Kernel got flashed successfully by going to settings>about phone and then by checking kernel information(version)
No need to worry, the kernel CWM Recovery flashable zips of BE flash the kernels successfully,I have tried them personally on the Myth 3 ROM
cheers
Can you suggest me a kernel which wud enhance my battery Life?
Right now i'm using BE 1.2.

Hahah!!
Method 1: flash other kernel as CF-root b84, Spacekernel...and then BE1.2
Method 2: WIPE all your data (cwm 3 wipes) flash the custom rom and then BE1.2 kernel intead of 1.6
