hello, i recently aquired a motorola droid bionic. it is on the verizon network and i am on the att network. is there a way to unlock the phone to att without a verizon sim?
i did a good bit of searching to see if a verizon phone would work on att network, but the anwsers seem to be quite contradicting.
if anyone knows how to ulock this phone without a verzion sim or if the phone will even work with att, please let me know.
Thanks
josh
Search for "bionic on T-Mobile" that's the thread u will need.. im on AT&T with my bionic right now
Sent from THE most powerful smartphone in the world!
thanks very much, i spent what seemed like days just trying to figure a way to get past the " this device needs a sim card to function" screen, but i couldnt find it.
i knew there had to be a way to bypass that.
Am asking if there is a way in which I could unlock my bionic network its writing that the sim is from unknown resource please if there is any one who knows how to do it I need help

How can i check if my t-mobile wing (says htc on back) is SIM LOCKED? also if anyone knows any good programs to deal with this, please give advice. Appreciate all the help, and xda forum rocks.
Very Simple
Try using a sim card from a diffrent cell phone provider other then t-mobile and it works then well i guess its sim-unlocked
what ^ he said is a good way to tell. Also most phones bought from the provider are locked, you can go have them unlock it and usually they will do it. (most will wait till your past your contract though).
my friend has a droid bionic that he tried to activate on page plus just to be told that he has a bad esn but i read somewhere that one can bypass this by simply unlocking the sim capabilities of the phone...so it can be used on net10 for example....just need help on where to go that wont charge to much to do it.....please help?
Hello,
I have a Motorola Moto X through US Cellular and I am desperately looking how to carrier unlock this phone. I don't know if its CDMA or GSM but it has a Sim card. It was hooked up through US Cellular and I would just go there and get a prepaid Sim card and use that but they said that I couldnt because it was still connected to my friends US Cellular account and he is in jail. The phone doesnt have service and I have been desperately looking how to unlock this phone. I cut I micro AT&T Sim to a nano Sim and put it in hoping to get the option to enter unlock code and all it says is "Sorry unknown Sim has been entered" I'm completely stuck and dont know what to do any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

I don't believe the whole GSM/CDMA thing really applies now as most phones that are CDMA come with SIM cards. My Verizon Moto X Developer Edition is CDMA and it has a SIM card. I'm not sure but you could try calling US Cellular and inquire about unlocking the SIM. But if the phone and SIM is still tied to another account I think you are SOL. You'd have to get your friend to transfer the account to you.
I'm no expert so take what I say with a grain of salt. Hopefully someone with more experience can help you out.

Let start with your model number that makes the biggest difference to this. Can you read the model on the back-bottom of the device?
It will say XT1058 or XT1053 etc. also does it have any carrier logos on the back?

You can probably just use one of the many online unlocking services to do this, your US Cellular account status doesn't matter, as these services are only concerned with your hardware. You give them your phone details and serial number (IMEI) and $10-20 and they send you an unlock code and instructions for doing it.
I just looked up your phone on www.simunlock.com and it looks like they can do it. I'm in no way vouching for them, no idea if they're legit but they come up high on a Google search at least. 10 minutes more searching should get you a reputable site. Hope this helps.
I tried a canadian sim card to see if I could get the unlock code page but nothing
i checked and it is not on any black list but am guessing money may be owed on it;
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated:good::good:
What Network you looking to use it on?

I am guessing if you are trying to use a SIM card it is something other that CDMA like GSM or LTE? Bionic will work on any network in the world but Verizon set the phone up so it wouldn't work on other networks without a hack. Let me know what you're trying to do and I will tell you the procedure. Its easy to do if you know how!

Hi
Any advise on unlocking my recently bought Verizon Droid 4? I tried the service from sim-unlock.net and they seem to have troubles doing it, because the device uses CMDA and cannot be unlocked by code.
I am stuck right now and searching for a solution mainly provided unsuccessful stories or questions without answers. I have tried the default 000000 and 123456 and they failed and have only one more try left
Please keep in mind I don't live in the US and calling Verizon can be pretty costly. I've seen a post of someone calling Verizon for hours and never managed to unlock his phone.
Phone bought on ebay from a seller in the US should be unlocked to be used on a GSM network in Europe. I already bought a pre-paid sim card
Just replying to my own post to give an update.
The code that was prompted to enter was not to unlock it from the previous carrier, but the sim unlock code from the pre-paid card.
After unlocking that I could immediately start calling with it. So I assume this Droid is already unlocked... I was totally surprised by that, I was convinced that unlocking was necessary (it was even mentioned by the seller from ebay)
While investigating this I found out you can call to the US very cheap (1 ct / minute) by some services. So I've learned a few useful things
Now my next challenge will be to install cyanogenmod on the Droid

Imho all Droid 4's are GSM unlocked. GSM is what's been used in the EU so it will work just fine.
They are only locked to Verizon in the US (CDMA instead of GSM).
