[Q] Bionic on H20 wireless - Motorola Droid Bionic

Wife and I just bought a Motorola droid bionic, Been reading that it is possible to put on the h20 wireless network. I have been messing with the phone all day. I finally got pass the setup at the start, First I was getting "this sim is from an unknown source" error, I bypassed that now I am trying to determine if I am able to take it to h20 wireless or not. I don't want to forced to pay the $80 a month w/verizon.
Phone is Verizon Droid Bionic,
I have the h20 sim, but i get the above error.
I have found a way to bypass the setup as mentioned above, I forgot to mention i have a "no Sim" error now" Would this be because of H20?
Trying to solve this A.S.A.P my pageplus plan expires 2mrw, then i will have no phone.
Any ideas?

The process in its self is not that difficult but different bionics seem to have different results.

I'm on page 12, I am very confused on where to even start for 1. I know its not as simple as popping the sim card in and it working. Good thing is i have both an h20 wireless sim and at&t sim so i can go to either. But i prefer h20 so i can return the AT&T phone.
Would it be too much to ask for some step by step help with this process? My wife wants to return this phone and get another one, But were both disabled and can't afford to put any more $ out so i've been reading 4 the last 2hours.
Thanks in advance.

In my opinion not enough is known yet for the bionic to be a reliable gsm phone. When I had mine on AT&T it got a weak signal. My friend is on AT&T and a lot of times he would have a good signal and I wouldn't have one at all, and like I said earlier different bionics seem to have different results. I read in that forum that on person had like 1 out of 3 that the mod worked on. If I were you I would sell the bionics and buy at&t phones. But that's only my opinion.

Update
Ok, so I was playing with the sim card.1. this is my first phone ever with a needed sim card. So i was playing with it thinking i might have put it in backwards or something.
so my guess i did, no i am no longer getting a grey ANT with red circle, i am getting no signal and when i attempt to make call i get the following error " outgoing calls are restricted by FDN".. In my mind this is progress to me.
But what is my next step?:good:

Thinking about it

[Q] Bad ESN LTE phone - will it still work?

I just found a very good deal on craigslist for a bad ESN LTE phone. I remember reading that even though the ESN is bad, putting the sim card in the phone will still allow it to work 100%.
is this true?
Thanks,

You probably should ask Verizon themselves about this. And maybe call a few times and ask to make sure you get the same answer.

Good Bye Bionic

After two replacement Bionics and a new SIM card, Verzion and I decided that it was time for a new phone. Hello Galaxy Nexus! Before leaving the Bionic though I was wondering if anyone else had an issue with data drops or was it just my area?

I have the same issues, in fact i was going to send mine back but they offered me a referb bionic...needless to say i held off but well see if they will eventually switch. Im on ICS leak (.232) with AOKP and its way better that on stock .905 GB (at times it was completely unuseable).
I see we are from teh same area though, so i dont know if its a bionic thing or 4g in detroit area. How is the nexus connection? Any drops?
After getting the Nexus and flashing the CM10 ROM it works flawlessly. Not a single data issue to be found.
im going on my 4th bionic!! ( first was data drops, second was bad speaker, third has a bad screen, fourth is on its way) next bad phone and im going to start pushign for a galaxy nexus also....
I didn't have to push very hard to get the Nexus. Just make sure you tell them you are a loyal customer and threaten to go to another carrier.
Did you have to sign on for a 2 year contract to get it?

Nope. Just complain enough and they'll give it to you for free.

I'm from the metro Detroit area myself.had data drops so bad the phone was nearly unuseable during certain times for the past couple months. Don't know why but it was the Facebook app. Uninstalled it and tada, no more data drops.

I will definitely have to try that tomorrow. I'm so few up with these phones. I've had 3 phones and 2 Sim cards, and still problems. I was under the impression you'd have to sign on for another contract
Update: just called in, the guy said he could only offer me the Thunderbolt (non dual core) or the Charge (no ICS). I pushed and pushed but they wouldn't bulge. The guy did say that ICS was coming very soon, and he thought it would help (I'm doubtful). But we'll see.

I am in the same boat as you. I am in the LA area, and I had good signal in my neighborhood too. However, I can't connect with LTE either, even when I stand next to the tower.
The most weird thing is: I went to the store fore return. When I hit the store, my phone works with LTE outside of the store. I have to go home. Now my phone still has no LTE connection.
It looks like that it is Sprint or HTC software issue. I had no clue what to do though.

Call Sprint customer care and have them check your UICC ID under settings/about/phone identity. I had exchanged my phone and this number didn't update and caused me to not get 4g when others had it. Its the same number as your SIM ID and is required to match your phone. Seems to be a common issue with setting up the HTC One since is has a SIM Card. They may argue with you that its for International only....tell them I understand that but you have seen others with this problem and that their UICC ID numbers did not match on the account and that its required to make 4g work.
Ok, thanks

Yea you have to call them with confidence that you know what the issues are. And in markets they have not launched yet just explain that data is very bad on this phone and you get a lot of dropped calls. Then just ask them to please verify the numbers on your account with the phone....and especially the UICC ID.
I live in LA as well, and I only get LTE in a few different specific areas. Should I call them to make sure all of my numbers are correct? Is there anything else I can do?

[Q] No 4G LTE after SIM error

Hey guys,
I work at Sprint and my technicians and myself cannot figure this out. So I thought I would reach out to you guys!
I had 4G flawlessly on my phone for the first few weeks I had it. One day I got a SIM error that read something like this, "No SIM Card: 4G LTE will not work as SIM/UICC is reinserted". I popped out the little SIM card, wiped it off, and the phone read it and the error went away. Since then I have not had a single connection to 4G LTE.
All of our demo phones are on 4G lte as well as my girlfriends phone at home. I am constantly in 3G or 1X. Any advice would be great
Things I have already tried....
1. Updated profile/prl
2. Reprovisioned phone using ##72786#
3. Toggled settings using *#*#4636#*#*
4. Wiped and installed a new ROM
5. Played around with SIM card slot and rebooting phone
I am going to try a new UICC sim if we have one around the store...if that doesn't work im out of ideas!
I have no suggestions, but I have had the same exact problem the past couple of weeks. I got the error, but I didn't even pop the SIM card out. I just put the phone in airplane mode like I usually did when I got the error. When I took it out of airplane mode, my 4g was gone and it has not come back. I have checked all settings and I can't come up with anything. I also RUU'd back to stock just to make sure. Still no sign of 4g.
Let me know if replacing your sim does the trick, because this has been driving me crazy.
By the way, I know it is the phone and not just sprint messing with the towers or something, because my wife's evo 4g lte is on 4g all the time.

The phone is rooted. I don't think there are any other radios out for this device yet though. Thanks for your reply though
I'm a Sprint Tech and do not have an answer currently for you guys as I have been receiving this error as well and only just found this thread. Will try to research tomorrow and see if I can find an answer. I only received this message once as of yesterday and it went away seconds later. Tonight it reappeared and is sticking. Under app info it shows this is the Phone app that is sending out this notification. There is a possibility if you force close the app and then disable notifications for it that this error may go away; however, I'm not sure what other notifications we would consequently loose. Current corporate PRL is 55015 and I am running Viper 1.0.3 with stock kernel. I am wondering if this has to do with refreshing your PRL because I did not notice it until I requested it from Updates two days ago even though the actual PRL version number did not change.

yea that sh!t didnt work at all. this seems really stupid to me that our phone is having this issue what could be causing this why would the sim card mess it up?
Ok so the consensus is, this seems really stupid too but its the only thing I can figure, the SIM is loose. If you eject your HTC One Micro Sim and place a small piece of scotch tape on the reverse side of the connector, this gives the card just enough volume, when reinserted to consistently maintain contact with the reader as the SIM tray is simply too big and is allowing the phone to believe there is actually no SIM card inserted when the connection is detected as broken. Suppose this also explains the inconsistencies in various user experiences since we all have different handling habits. Any one else want to wager to guess why this problem is so intermittent?

my friend who works at bb hooked me up with another sim. im taking it to sprint tomorrow and see if they can do anything. my friend said he could swap for a new htc one as well. i would have to pay 30 bones though.

What choices do I have

Sprint has a policy of switching costumers to a different device after 3 exchanges. I'm waiting for my 3rd HTC one, all for the same reason with the SIM card error. I can't imagine that this replacement will be any different. With that being said what choices will I have for a new device

S4 pretty much. Maybe a Note II.
Quick question, are you taking the SIM card out at any time, or are you not touching it? Because I only ever had problems with mine after I removed it from my phone and put it back in.
I also have the sim card error but it comes and goes every once and a while. When ever I get it it usually goes away after 15-20 min. Even with all the issues the HTC One has I would never trade it in for any of the phones available atm.

Same. I haven't had the sim error, does it just deny LTE? If thats all it does I'd suffer for a bit (if you don't have a time restraint) and see what the Nexus5 announce says. The word is it has the CDMA bands for Sprint use and I've been itching to get my hands on a true nexus phone.

I've never touched it. My thought I'd that I shouldn't have to do quick temporary fixes on the phone. That and possibly giving Sprint a reason to deny liability.

Have you tried updating your Service profiles?
Just contact Sprint via chat, and ask them to re activate your device. They should ask you for your IMEI number.
Make sure they ask you for it. I had this happen to me after I got my phone's board replaced. The chat guy kept telling me to get a new SIM card, and I kept telling him it was pretty much the same phone, and exactly the same card. So yeah.

From what I remember when I worked there it had to be a manufacturer defect every time and the 3 swaps have to occur within a 6 month time frame. Not sure if yours fell into that. If they did then your store might be more screwy than others. Or you just weren't upset enough

Yes it is. I've had to use it a few times back when I had the Samsung moment, which was replaced with another forgettable device

It is not policy to switch after ther 3rd time it is at the discretion of the store. I doubt you would get a S4 they will probably offer a S3 I'm pretty sure a S3. I work at Sprint in Tampa Fl. If you like I could check tomorrow what they are offering for a trade. We use a system called Eticket and it will till me what they have to trade

I'd be pis:angel:sed if they offered me an S3 to replace my one. It should be an equivalent phone of equal value, not last years phone that's free on contract.

Seriously? An S3? That doesn't make any sense to me. It should definitely be an S4. When we had the EVO and Epic come out a lot of EVOs had issues and several people were able to do the swap and we got them into Epics. A phone a year older with much lower specs shouldn't qualify as a comparable device.

Scotch tape fixed it for my wife's phone also make sure SIM surface is super clean. My wife's phone had a big greasy finger print on contact side and recurring issues but after scotch taping on plastic side to keep it tight it's fixed. But I never had this issue on mine, I did however blow a speaker and swapped it a month ago.
I wouldn't take another phone over this still.
