I wonder if you can spoof the build.prop to match the Nexus s and fool the app...
Nope, it's going to need a modified framework to have an ESN. Go to the apps section of NC here, and read up on the HBO-GO thread. It's going to be very close to their solution.

Well, it may require a device with an ESN, but if it is only available to "select" devices, it has to be reading something from the build.prop to determine if it is a valid phone model; the two are different issues..

Here's the official Netflix Press Release:

I hope B&N works out something with Netflix so we can at least get a Stock App.

Looking at the build.prop that is already on my CM7 nook, it has a ro.build.fingerprint of that of a Nexus, so that should not be an issue...
Well, never mind - got a "device not supported" error. It may be looking at other build.prop sections, it may be failing with no IEMI framework (haven't done that mod yet), or it may be looking at the actual CPU, for something only the snapdragon has...
As I posted in another section, I'm watching netflix on my nook *right now*! All it took was a build.prop mod. As follows:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_vision/vision/vision:2.2/FRF91/277427:user/release-keys

I have two build.props on my sd card that I switch in the terminal, "nookcolorbuild.prop" and "nctmobbuild.prop". I also keep a third one for MLB.tv. The commands I use in terminal are:
Code:
$ su
# busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
# cp /sdcard/[WHICHEVER FILE I WANT TO USE].prop /system/build.prop
Then a restart, which applies it!

VERY cool solution. I don't doubt I could follow those instructions, but does keeping the netflix-compatible build.prop file on there break anything else?

Probably? Things run a little slow, but I haven't tested thoroughly. I'm pretty used to switching build.props on a regular basis for use with mlb.tv, so it doesn't bother me to have to switch often. I plan on switching back when I'm done watching just in case (or until others can show that it doesn't hurt anything).
Being a Linux guy, all these batch files have been driving me mad
Anyways, in an effort to benefit from all the great development that has been going on around the Atrix, I started converting some of the batch files to Bash scripts, for me, and my Linux brethren to to enjoy. However, I quickly realized this was creating parallel development paths, and scripts presented limitations that were becoming hard to manage, so I decided to create an Android App. My hope is this will provide a more universal appeal, and remove host OS dependencies.
After a couple of weeks of getting up to speed on Java, I now present the “Atrix Webtop Unlocker” Android Application! This is very much a work in progress, but with feedback from the community, we will be able to improve the app to the point it will be very user friendly and useful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a nutshell, this application is the Android version of Sogarth's wonderful script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000316
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like all of my other projects, this is open source, and available for download at: https://github.com/mistadman/Atrix-Webtop-Unlocker, or via an apk binary download attached to this post.
I eagerly await your feedback and input!
Last, but not least, thanks goes out to--in no particular order--Sogarth, bartsplanet, godwin1981, Ririal, Fenny, and all the rest of the XDA Community! A lot of what you did heavily influenced the development of this app. Also, if I left anyone out, I apologize in advance.
***NOTE - At this time, this app requires your device to be rooted and has only been tested on AT&T v1.57.
*** So one bug I am sure some will encounter is the rotation bug. I have to make AsyncTask play nice with Activities that are destroyed during screen rotations. Fix coming soon, but in the mean time, try not to rotate the phone while running this app :-( ...Did I mention this was work in progress? LOL!
I wont have time to mess with it til Sunday, but ill test it out then and let you know how it goes.

does it have to be stock launcher? I'm having issues setting up LXterminal off of Gingerblur 3.1.
Correction: Gingerblur 3.1 has some problems with it...i've done 2 flashes and tried 1.5.7 with and without 3.1 and i do notice that Webtop mode has some problems with Firefox specifically and LXterminal is missing.
Is there a chance of this working on 1.8.3?

Actually, it's not. There are quite a few differences between the 1.57 and 1.83 webtops. They removed a lot of binaries and changed some things around. Be wary installing this on 1.83, it'll probably break your webtop and you'll have to reflash.

yeah you're right, i finally got it running and it broke my Firefox, File Manager, and just about every program accessible. It WILL install but it won't function properly. I was under the assumption since 1.83 didn't really affect 1.57 in any major ways besides the HSUPA unlock update that it was the same. On the version notes, it does say the same version on mine though....i don't know why they call it the same when its not.
FYI guys,
My app does not modify/touch the original /osh directory, so at the worse, you will just need to remove the /data/ubuntu.disk file, reboot, and you're back to stock Webtop. No re-flash necessary if something goes wrong.

Hmmm. What you can try is downloading the GladiAtrix3 beta I have, and pulling the domain_policy.conf from the lxterminal folder inside the zip and installing it onto your phone. See if that fixes anything. The issue is that all the versions are different, and tomoyo just says "**** no" to everything you try to run because it's not specifically allowed in the policy. The file in GA3 is from a 1.83 webtop, modified to allow awn and lxterminal to run unrestricted.
EDIT: I'll just attach the file, it's easier for everyone Let me know if it fixes anything
EDITEDIT: Make sure you're replacing the file in the loaded image, not in the stock /osh directory.

I've done the same thing (sbf 1.2.6 -> 1.5.7 -> root -> webtop unlocker -> 1.8.3 -> gingerblur) but I lost completly entertainment center and webtop.

Well, no. The webtop mod uses your current /osh as a base. The problem is that it's making a lot of assumptions from 1.57 files. Things got changed up in 1.83, and it causes problems.
If you're talking about the webtop through HDMI mod, then we're talking about two completely different things

Introducing Blackhole Bionic.
<disclaimer>
I cannot guarantee any success on your phone, and any loss of time, money, happiness, life, etc. that happens as a result of flashing this ROM is your own responsibility. I recommend you use Safestrap, but it will work with Bootstrap as well. Always have an FXZ ready in case something goes wrong. If you are on .235 or .238 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST FLASHING THIS OR ANY ROM WITH BOOTSTRAP as there is no way to FXZ to a working build.
</disclaimer>
Some of you may remember me from the Samsung Fascinate or HTC Thunderbolt. I made a ROM called Blackhole, because there was nothing like it, but I wanted there to be. Something with choices. I wanted a ROM that was exactly what I wanted, and nothing that I didn't. No toolboxes, no bloatware, no apps that I'd never use just because the creator wanted to add them. What I created was a stock based ROM that was as empty as I could possibly make it without everything falling apart. And on the Bionic that philosopy has served me well again, as I've created the first Blur Based ROM that is flashable in Safestrap.
This ROM contains none of the usual apps you'd expect to see in a full release. It has been trimmed down to the bare minimum. Why should you keep the stock browser if you only use Chrome? Who needs the MotoEmail if you prefer K9? And why would you want Blockbuster saved on your system partition where you can never get rid of it, when it can be downloaded from the market so easily? The answer? You don't!
Most of the missing apps are downloadable from the market. This saves them on the /data partition where you have plenty of space, not limited by Safestrap.
This is the first public release of Blackhole for the Bionic, and I will be working over time to continue to slim it down and make more options available. Here is a list of what's in the current build. If I've used any of your work without credit I apologize, please let know and I'll credit you, or remove it if you have a problem.
Stock apps: Calendar, Contacts, Phone, Play Store, Search, Settings, Smart Actions*, Talk, Text Messaging
Market apps: Camera ICS*, Nova Launcher*
CM9/AOSP apps: Clock*, Gallery*, File Manager*
Mods: Build.prop edits, governers, and beats audio from RedHead by Sparkyman 216 (A fantastic ROM if you want a full featured, Flash-and-go setup) and 1% battery mod by Dluke (works on stock based .232 .235 or .238 ROMs)
(* indicates a future release will make this file an optional addon with the choice of Stock, CM9/AOSP, or Market apps (free only)
Screenshots
Video Review
Recommendations for replacing removed apps:
Browser: Chrome, Dolphin HD, Firefox
Email: K-9 Mail
Voicemail: Google Voice
I will be adding extra files daily to flash some of the stock apps back to the phone if you prefer them. these include Email, Desk/Car dock launchers, Gallery, Camera, Visual Voicemail, and anything else the users request.
Instructions:
Bootstrap:
1. Make sure you are running a version of bootstrap that will boot to recovery on every bootup. like this one.
2. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!
3. Data wipe should be unnecessary, but is recommended
4. Flash the downloaded ROM
5. Reboot
6. Install the bootstrap apk again.
7. Bootstrap recovery.
8*. Install a Root File Manager (Root Explorer, ES file manager, Astro, etc.)
9*. Delete /system/vendor/app (except for the swype apk if you use swype)
10*. Delete /preinstall/app
11. Enjoy
*Steps 8, 9 and 10 are not necessary, but will remove the extra bloatware I haven't figured out how to remove with my install script yet.
Safestrap:
1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!
2. Switch to Safe Side
3. Wipe Data
4. Flash the downloaded ROM
5. Reboot
6. Enjoy
So without further words, here is Blackhole Bionic 1.0:
Blackhole Bionic 1.0
Mirror #1 by Krazyace38 from ROMbot.org
Mirror #2 by JP1044 from ROMbot.org
Add-ons:
If you are running Bootstrap you can flash any or all of the system versions of these files, and they will save to the /system partition and will be saved permanently into the ROM, and will remain after a data wipe. If you are running Safestrap your space is very limited, so you will not be able to flash everything to system. consider flashing some of these apps to /data instead, or using a market app. Some will not work if flashed to data, so there is no download option in the data section.

I've been on .232 CM9 since I got the phone (with the exception of the first 16 hours while I was learning how to not break it). I've never used the 1% option, mostly because I hate having a cluttered status bar and because I use circle battery widget on my homescreen.
I would rather there not be any numbers there. Since they are there, I think the mod would benefit from taking them off the battery icon altogether, putting both numbers centered over the battery icon, or at least making the battery icon skinnier so that the second number is centered inside of it. The way it is currently makes it look like an unintentional mistake, largely due to how misaligned the second number is over the battery.
I've never done anything with themeing, maybe I'll take this on as a little project for myself.
Hell yeah. Make sure to show your work!
We are always looking for fresh mods in here.
Good luck and make sure to report back!

AWESOME!!!! I'll be d/ling soon then. Thanks man!
Thanks to Android Revolution for providing the nandroid backup of his T-Mobile Note, here's a complete stock, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned ROM. I'll look in to releasing a modified framework-res.apk later that adds SIP calling settings and modifies the auto-brightness levels. If no one else does it first, I'll probably look in to adding the extended power menu to make it easier to reboot in to recovery and maybe see if we can get the 15 toggles mod that works on many AT&T roms working too.
I didn't remove any apps, so if you know there are things you don't want, feel free to open the zip and delete things out of /system/app before flashing. Suggestions on what can/should be removed would be great too.
This does not include the modem so flash that separately if you want the latest T-Mobile modem. I'm working off of an AT&T Note so it's easier for me to keep the modems and ROMs separate. tomin.fhl already has that posted for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837907
Thank these folks for making this possible:
Android Revolution and all the folks releasing bits from the T-Mobile Note.
www.androidfilehost.com for providing free hosting
electron73 and flappjaxxx for releasing stock-ish AT&T ROMs that were very helpful to me to figure out how to put together the flashable zip
Download: http://beta.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390034591667978483
Mods that work:
I tried a couple of the 15 toggle mods for AT&T Note UCLF6 ROMs and they seem to work as is. If you like the toggles go ahead and try them and be sure to thank the creators if it works.

Edit (09/02): If you're looking for a stripped down version, I've customized the ROM more or less to my liking and have uploaded it for others to use. These are the changes I remember off hand:
Removed:
TouchWiz "stuff" (launcher, widgets, supporting APKs)
Samsung keyboard/TTS (keyboard wasn't working anyway and I don't use it so didn't spend too much time figuring out why)
Most of the wallpapers, including all of the live wallpapers
Some Google Apps (new Play Music/Video, a few others) as they inevitably end up out of date anyway and need to be updated from Play Store. The ones that I left in the system partition have been updated to latest available on Play Store.
Other T-Mobile add-ins (if you actually miss anything that was removed you can grab it from the full stock ROM)
Added to system:
Apex launcher
Hacker's Keyboard
Google Now (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224)
Edited framework.jar to include the 4-way reboot option to restart in to recovery (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24303020&postcount=13)
Edited framework-res.apk and added in the native SIP calling settings (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962). Also tweaked the screen brightness when on Auto to be a bit dimmer (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541180).
Added as non-system APKs:
T-Mobile My Account (overlaps a lot with Access T-Mobile, I'd pick the one that works better for you and delete the other)
ES File Explorer
Titanium Backup
Solid Explorer
aLogcat
Chrome
I've been using this build for a couple of days and it has so far been problem free for me. If the camera closes on you after initially loading the ROM, a reboot seems to fix that without it cropping up again. Last thing on my to do list is to look at replacing the T-Mobile tether app (I don't tether too often so it hasn't been a priority). In the future I'm considering replacing the S-Note and S-Memo apps with some of the community/other developer note (Memo/Papyrus/etc) taking apps, mostly in preparation for a jump back to Cyanogenmod ROMs once they gain a bit more stability.

Can i flash this on my rooted att note with sim unlocked?
I never knew that we could remove or add system apps inside the zip and have it flash without any problems. So I could add the cerberus security app? and remove t-mo bloat? then flash via cwm?
I know this is a basic question. Would love a "dummies" answer if possible.:silly:
I can't wait to get my T-Mo note for some HSPA+ lovin'.
Thanks a bunch for this (thanks button hit).
Excellent, more flashing!!!
I think in the next month or so, we all will be doing a lot of flashing!
easy did u try this one on the att note ?

Uploading it to my phone right now through Kies Air, will try it out after. I think I might reset data and start new, see if that will make things faster and less problematic.

It works fine on the AT&T Note, that's what I used to test with. Just make sure to use a modem that is modified for i717 since using both the mdoem.bin and amss.bin straight from a T-Mobile Note causes it to run about 10 times slower than normal. I know tomin.fhl, jeet92 and others have different combos that work and I may do a little testing too next week when I get some time. Doesn't look like we can expect any breakthroughs in speed though unfortunately.

Yep, you sure can. I usually make a few changes when I download the zips for other ROMs, like modifying the framework-res.apk first to allow for native SIP calling, then saving it back in to the zip. Other interesting things to do is to add in the Google Now files that were modified to work with ICS so that you don't need to copy them in after a flash.

Kerry, do you know how to change the port on T-Mobile wifi calling? My company blocks this port that tmo wifi uses and it gets an error every time at work. At home it is fine.

It is working fine, I'll test the radio out when I'm out door, my reception suck at work. These brick buildings are the fault.

I'm not too sure about that, but my initial guess would be that it's not possible. Some quick Google'ing came up with UDP ports 500 and 4500 that are used, but that would be set on T-Mobile's servers so having your client try to connect on a different port would result in no connection. Have you asked your IT department if they could work with you to find out what rules could be added to the firewall to allow Wifi calling? I know some companies will install repeaters to help get reception for their employees if they're in a bad area, and this would be an effectively zero cost to them solution.

It's a hassle, they have so many steps to request something like this.
Samsung keyboard
Hey karryt,
Had a small force close issue with the Samsung Keyboard on your rom. I reverted to my pre-rooted image and it went away. Let me know if you need anything to help smooth out the rom because having a flashable zip would help me out as well.
Thanks for putting together this ROM. I am testing on my ATT i717 using Blaze modem. I will give it a test run over the weekend.

English UK Locale?
Which language/region locales are included? Might English UK be in this or is it the same as the standard T-Mobile stock? Also, will a T-Mobile Note still work fully on their network with this ROM? I got confused by this radio talk.

I'll take a look at this but might not get to it until next week. I did get those FCs sometimes also, but it was better when I factory reset even when flashing over the same stock image. For now using a different keyboard seems to work fine as a workaround.

This is the same thing as stock, just modified a little to allow theme-ing and flashable via CWM. Looks like it does not have the UK language listed. You can use this ROM on both the AT&T and T-Mobile Notes and it should work just fine. You're not really gaining much if you're already on T-Mobile stock ROM though unless you want to flash mods on top of it.
is google wallet working on tmobile rom?
Can anyone pull the kids mode apks from their tab and post them for me? I have a debated Tom that I love but my wife wants those apps back...
The only ports I can find are from the 5th and they don't quite work on this tab.
Probably don't need all the apps within the app but will need the kidsapps, kidshome, installer, landingwidget, and parental control apks...
Any help with this would be awesome.

Interesting. I pulled it from the deodexing firmware T525XXUANH4 for t525th. It works for me, of course. Perhaps the reason is deodex. Well, here's set of apk&odex (place in folder /system/app and give rights rw-r--r--):

Hi,
Can you be more specific? Where to place both files? I know .apk can go anywhere, but no clue where to place other one. Can't make it work
Thanks!

Well, I would probably be surprised if that Kids Mode began to work. Firstly, it's this version of the apk for Kitkat. Second, it needs Touchwiz. Correct me if I'm wrong.
At least on CM 12.1 I couldn't run a version for Android 5.1.
not working

someone will probably have to have it installed then pull app data for libs folder if there are any. then you would need to flash the /data/app/name of apk folder with libs to the correct area and also the main .apk to /system/app
but then again some manufacturer's apps are not compatible with aosp or cm based roms and need porting to work
(if that is what you are running)

Having had a crack at this myself... On my newsed SM-T325 I just got myself. I can only suspect that the clue is in the name seckidsmode... Sec here referring to security al-la knox mode perhaps?! no, not so much as full on knox, as such. But is still tied up somehow in as far as once its gone its gone. At least this is what I found when I tried to reinstall it back onto a rooted, but otherwise stock... And 0x0 valid SM-T325.
You might not care to hear it, but the only way I was able to recover (Twice now, as I write this!), was to re-flash the current BOC1 Firmware on top of everything again. Thankfully this hasn't tripped up my Knox... yet though I need to re-install TowelRoot + SuperSU again, unlike Knox however, you can install, and use this Kids Mode while rooted. But, as to reinstall it again after you've yanked it?
Well lets say that I'm kinda interested to know that One too...

My guess is 'cause you have to have TouchWiz installed... It is a Stock Samsung APK after all.

Mute point now... But, I was on Stock at the time.
The only way I managed at the time to recover the Kids Mode, was to re-Stock, and to not removing it to begin with.
