Hi. I would like to try a couple of modems cause my signal quality is not the best now in comparison with what I had previously.
The questions is: I'm on RocketMIUI v6 and I do not understand what category this ROM can be included in. Is it sammy based or not ?
If I got it right, I can flash any modem for GB and ICS under ANY rom (sammy or cm based) right ?
But what about RocketMIUI ? Is it something special ? Can I flash any modem under this rom ?
Thanks !

Just got the 16GB Tab a few days ago...
Well after scouring the forums for all sorts of info, the amount of research done on the Tab by you people is amazing ........ and still searching for more info day by day....
I wish to know which version of gingerbread is the "most stable one" ??
The asian ones which have been recently released ? Or the latest european firmware ?
Because I wish to run a stock samsung's own GB version before straightaway going in for a custom ROM like Overcome...
Also if I want the closest stock ROM based experience should I go for -
[ROM/Kernel][GSM][Android 2.3.3] ROM based DXJPE (build 23 June) by DiP7 ???
ANother newbish question will be -
If I flash a ROM and install the provided kernel with it ? Do I need to also flash a new modem file via ODIN ? or the original file stays there ?
And do I need OCLF after installing a stock/custom GB based ROM just for some speed improvements and/or does the EXT2 file system conversion give boost ? (because OCLF in my Galaxy S SL i9003 really did make overall performance better) Also the lagfix to be applied is V1+ right ? or do I also go for applying V2 lagfix in OCLF?
Thanks for reading all this and I would love to hear your ideas over these questions ....
No , no need to for the modem file after flashing rom.
I see you are in India ( me too ) so Asian rom will be better .
No need of lagfix and oc overcome is very smooth .
P.S :If you flash Asian GB please tell whether it contains Indian languages .
A good stock GB rom choice is JQ1 because it has the proper, safe bootloaders, and can be easily rooted using the Chainfire CF-Root v3.3 kernel.
From there you can go in any direction.

1)for rom i would suggest simply honey its fast and most importantly very very stable..
2) for a kernel i'd suggest talondev kernel or galaxian, both are super smooth with oc capabilities.. to oc a cpu u can use the tegrak overclock or voltage control(i use this).. both can be downloaded from market..
finally i´ve decided by a stock rom (deodexed zipaligned etc...) JVP,
and the galaxian kernel but the autobrigthness is too low, any advise?¿?¿?
thx mate
The JVp/JVQ base roms have issues with the sensor polling. Theres a hack around search in the forums or try GingerReal which is based on JVQ is fast, stable and has a GB theme.

For stock GB rom without the sensor issue JVB/JVH base should be the fine.
Edit: There are reports that the new JVR based roms have this issue fixed in the stock rom. JVR is available for download from samfirmware.com.

This is the best kernel in town that is GN. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
About the rom, it really depends on your taste. Cleanote is stock look custom rom. Me, my rom is modded lite alba by elishadow.

HydraCore v4.3b OC :good:
I used it with Alliance ICS Final, and it is perfect kernel for this perfect ICS rom
EDIT: here you have it all... Notecore and HydraCore

what the difference between Notecore and HydraCore ???
which is better?? and can i use it with Stock ICS (XXLRT) ??
finally what the difference between these kernals and others..?
peace....
Stop shouting - using bold font isn't so nice.
Read the kernel threads and you will know what features they have and what you need.
There is no best whatever.

Yes you can use notecore and hydracore kernels with xxlrt rom.
What is the difference... try them and tell us your opinion.
Tips: Dont flash hydracore v7 (broken camera and other stuff, and you will need extra file if you want revert to other kernel, just dont flash it)
As said before, HydraCore v4.3b OC is the best combination with alliance xxlrt for me. Great performance and battery life.
And if you like, you can try notecore 14.1 (it is the latest one from notecore, and lets say the best one from notecore)

KERNAL IS NOT A WORD
Hello,
So after getting some knowledge of the things (thanks Shut_Down :good, I was wondering which is the best combination for this phone?
Right now I am running the stock ROM and kernel.
Will the new official JB upgrade also change kernel or just ROM?
Since people here have already tried different combinations, which combinations have you found that give good, consistent and fast running?
Thanks!

Funny thing is that each of you have a different combination.
Any one actually did testing which combo is better? Or maybe i sould ask, why are you using he combinations you wrote?

Same here. Stock JB LQ4 + ThunderZap 3.5.
So I am guessing I will upgrade to the stock JB ROM (till there will be a JetMod version of JB).
1) Which would be a better kernel set CoCore or ThunderZap?
2) I am right now still running the stock GB ROM.
What would be the right upgrade process kernel update then rom, or rom and then kernel?
The reason I am thinking kernel first is because I still don't have a custom recovery (using the stock brand) so i can't backup or load new roms.
What do you think?
Thanks!

Try both and see what firs you better. And about order, you can install ROM with temp. CWM, but I suggest you use permanent, with custom kernel. So first kernel, than ROM.

Thanks mate! Again you helped.
If I install the stock ROM will I be able to get it in my local language (Hebrew), or do I need to download a specific ROM that is already in my language?

Hm, on this Russian JB there is no Hebrew as I see. So if you want it you should wait for release for your country or any with your language.

OK, Thanks.
Last question, when just changing kernel, do I need to do any wipes / resets (I have read about dalvik cache, factory wipes etc.) ? Or is that just for when installing new ROM's?
