LG Thrill V20c Custom Roms? - LG Thrill 4G

Hello XDA world, i was wondering if there are any LG Thrill (Optimus 3D) Custom Roms for V20c. I've noticed a few for V21e but in using them on V20c Data is unavailable. So if anyone knows of any Lg Thrill Roms running V20c that would be great (other then cyanogenmod7, 3D apps are unavailable) so a working 03D rom with V20c, i'm sure it would be much appriciated for all us canadian users eh haha

I myself have a P925 on Rogers with the v20c baseband, and I have found that everything based on Cyanogenmod works really quite well. Some good ROMS include CyanogenMod(the original one) @ http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=p920, MokeeOS @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917377, and the newly ported MIUI ROM @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917722.
I have also found that if you want a stock based ROM, Thrill Seeker @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779290 with the ThrillzGB kernel @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546103 works quite well as well.
Hope one of these meets your needs!

Oh man, you asked this question in the right time!
I just tried and confirm that Promethius and ThiaiZO3D ROMs work on my p925g with v20c... using bluekernel!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565432
I have both frequences working - WCDMA 850 and WCDMA 1900 with H full speed!
I just booted into CWM, wiped all/factory reset (did Titanium backup first), installed ROM and then kernel right away.
Hope you can enjoy your phone now!

I guess you must've downloaded old version (current is 1.5) or version for Korean phone - model SU760 (it has only 3 buttons). Sorry can't post link now. Just search xda for blue kernel

OK, I got home
Sorry, latest version is 1.2.0 and yes, all my 4 buttons work as should.
I downloaded kernel from this thread (first post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565432
And link to the file (I copy/paste it from that thread - not sure if I can post it):
http://www.mediafire.com/?94tpv9i1p9b6ms1
I flashed ROM in CWM and then right away kernel. Only then rebooted.
Hope it helps.

i just tried another version of that rom, aswell as thriller and thiaiz and in each my back button is acting as the home button, very frustrating haha, such a small problem making me go back to stock rom

never seen your post i will try it now! thanks!
i tried your links, thats where i got my bluekernel from, is that whats affecting my buttons? i got v1.2, i guess it is the bluekernel due to thiaiz roms having the same problem as well as thriller 3.1, hmmmmm

Yes, I use kernel from the link I posted and my back button works as should. In BlueKernel thread was discussion about back button and latest kernel should fix it...
Did you wipe/factory reset in CWM first? I also did Dalvik cashe wipe. May be you should ask about back button in kernel thread...
Did you try installing Promethius ROM first, then booting into ROM, setting everything (test buttons), and then rebooting into CWM again and installing kernel without factory reset?
Sorry...

[ROM] DUAL Roms (GR-5+MIUI-1.12.9 & GR-5+CM-204 both by ChinaGB) at Modaco

Found a great ROM totally based on a new concept of DUAL ROM. Both GR5 by Paul & MIUI12.2 bundled together by "ChinaGB". I have flashed this ROM today and its working well since last few hours. If interested you may try the ROM at link below. Screenshots also available there at Modaco.
http://android.modaco.com/topic/349332-gr5miui1202-double-system/
All credit goes to ChinaGB for bundling the ROMs. Thanks to him. I have only posted the link as the concept is great to me.
11.12.2011: Subsequently another DUAL ROM developed by ChinaGB again with GR5+CM-204. Link attached. Downloading. Will flash in free time.
original link : http://115.com/file/bhk2amyj/

great going.
Thanks to ChinaGB for the ROMs & S.don for providing the link.
Edit: Actually both the ROMs are bundled by ChinaGb. S.Don only provided the link like me.

any tutorial? or any specific flashing procedure? wipes? can you guide please? As i read the Modaco thread, there are some functions not working...what are those?
Thanks Partha...
No special tutorial needed. FULL WIPE needed, i.e., wipe data, cache, dalvik. Run CONVERT TO EXT3 by Paul and lastly flash. ROM will boot into GR5. Dont skip initial android screen. RONs can be changed by tapping dedicated icons. Lastly till now I have not found anuthing not working. Using MIUI at present. Only thing is battery seems to be draining faster than Topo's ROM & SPICA kernel. But nothing wrong in trying its an unique experience. Apps installed in one ROM shows up in other.

Partha, Thanks for the information. But, what about the free RAM? HD Video, BT, Wifi, 3G mobile data, etc?
How long is the battery after a charge?
BTW, I just downloaded tht...waiting for your answer....
Thanks once again
how will you install the available tweaks in each type of the rom? it will surely get into bootloop, afaik..
BT wifi working. 3g i cannot check. RAM is more than 100mb and UI is fluid. I have mostly used the MIUI part but I think v20l will also be stable. Battery is one point which I am still testing.
Regarding tweaks as pointed out by Helldroid nothing can be done. Both the ROM uses different kernels. MIUI uses swiftextreme and v20l uses probably default with tweaks like support for voodoo. RIL is also different for both ROMs and only customisation i have done is flashed RIL in MIUI part.
Thanks

the battery seems draining fast but , how-to manage a calibration on both sides ? ;-)

I haven't calibrated my battery. You try and advise us if successful. I think try the MIUI side first because MIUI seems to be draining faster than v20l. BTW you can download ONLY 1.2MB updater in the Modaco site and flash it (I flashed it after wiping Cache/dalvik cache) to update your MIUI version to latest 12.9. Very Simple. I Liked the way of updating. BTW while flashng the update I first booted to MIUI ROM and then booted to CWM from MIUI ROM so that after flashing it boots to MIUI. Don't know if flashing from the v20L side would do any harm but I thought it safer to go by MIUI side since its a MIUI update.
I have applied the fr version changes to the rom for miui part so i think i wont be able to update the ota method . but i will try...
anyway there's currently a fr version being cooked with a customized miui

does anyone know how to change gr5 to cm7 in this rom and if it is possible?

Cyanogenmod (AKA Android 2.3.7) for LG Thrill 4G

Cyanogenmod nightly builds for the LG Thrill 4G (p925) have now been released.
CyanogenMod (pronounced sigh-AN-oh-jen-mod), is a customized, aftermarket firmware distribution for several Android devices. Based on the Android Open Source Project, CyanogenMod is designed to increase performance and reliability over Android-based ROMs released by vendors and carriers such as Google, T-Mobile, HTC, etc. CyanogenMod also offers a variety of features & enhancements that are not currently found in these versions of Android.
For more information about Cyanogenmod:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/about
Nightly build ROMs can be found here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p925
Changelog can be found here:
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=p925
INSTRUCTIONS:
Root your device.
Install Clockworkmod
Create a nandroid backup of your current ROM in Clockworkmod (either using the ROM Manager app, or turning off the phone and restarting into the Clockworkmod recovery (hold power+down volume+3D button, release the power button once the device turns on while still holding the down volume+3D until the main Clockworkmod screen appears) and selecting backup.
Install the latest Nightly.
Reboot.
If you're currently using a stock rom or a custom rom that is not based on Cyanogenmod then you must make a factory reset/format data in Clockworkmod after installing the latest nightly or else you'll get stuck in a bootloop.
I know this has been posted before, but the links in the referring web page was slightly wrong. Most of this information comes from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423820
Thank you to all the other developers and members who worked to make rooting, installing Clockworkmod, and custom ROMs easy for the LG Thrill 4G. AT&T should pay you because your work may not make me regret buying a LG product on AT&T. So far I have been very happy with Cyanogenmod.
i would get it if it was 3d enabled

You will lose 3D due to the fact that the framework that LG uses for 3D is their own software and it is not compatible with Open Source.

[Q] how to remove cyanogenmod and return to stock rom??

hello friends i have installed cyanogenmod on my optimus 2x one week ago and now i want to teturn to my old original gingerbread stock rom that lg provided me. i didnt take nandroid backup of that rom. so pls guys help me as soon as possible. as give me brief details of updating thax in advance..

Find your firmware that fits to your country and provider. Download the file and read the instructions (link at the bottom of the first post).
After that, you'll have an untouched stock rom again (but why? )
If you have a Backup of the Stock ROM you could just restore from it.
But if you dont, you have to download your ROM and use SmartFlash.
You should try MIUI Roms if CMs a bit out of your taste.
Goodluck though!

Try the newer ROMs based on V20O....which will ofcourse require you to flash the Base Band V20M and the RIL recommended by GetRIL or LG RIL apps.
But, personally, I was happy with Thanatos 5.1, Blazing Dragon 2.1a, Django0.5ICS with spica's Kernel....all these gave me a minimum of 40hrs in battery performance and the device was very soft with movement with extremely few reboots and FCs in app openings.
Everything depends on ur satisfaction and feel.....Try these....I tried also the CM7 but changed....so try all the great work by developers....appreciate the fact that without these guys....this device would be uninteresting...
BRAVO DEVELOPERS of LG O2X
May I also ask - what ROM were you specifically using? Were you using CM 7.1 normal? Were you using some other CM7 based rom?
I recently made the switch from stock GB to tomasek's CM7 nightly based rom and I'm not going back - it's just heaps and bounds better than anything else I've tried.
If you have in fact tried a recent CM7 "Kang" build then please tell us what you found lacking.
To me there would only be one single reason to go back to stock - the LG widgets. I haven't found anything that works like the LG Memo widget anywhere else. (ie it's a widget, not only an app. You can also slide left/right to get the next/previous note. I haven't found anything that can do this). If someone pointed me at a similar widget then I'd be set.
But that aside, it's worth not having the LG widgets if it means getting all the other improvements of CM.
Another big point for me - Where do you think the first ICS roms will come from?
Very likely CM9. They are hard at work at it right now and looking at the progress document they're making huge steps every day.
So getting used to CM7.x now only means that it's easier to switch to CM9 (ICS) when it comes.
That's just my 0.02 of whatever currency you happen to be using.
// Stefan
yeah just flash a stock rom over it, and make a backup of your apps if you need to

It does works for the thrill. You just have to flash bernis u-boot and x-loader. I was using it on my v20p thrill. I switch back to GB because people on the other end of the phone were hearing an echo. If you can live with that it works fine. Just go to the o3d development threads there is a thread that explains how to install everything.

i've tried it in the past. it would work the first time, yet when i reboot, i would lose all sort of network and reboot randomly. however, its the same as cm10. so if cm10 works for you, this should work as well
Hey do u have working flash in that ROM u suggested on the other forum.

Is CM10 critical for you?
Because I installed ICS port by XBSA, samno kernel and v20c baseband and it's amazing, like new phone! (in Canada)
You can find all info in Optimus 3D development section. Our phones are EXACTLY the same, just different basebands. With v20c I have 3G/H in WCDMA 850 and WCDMA 1900.
It's challenging process but it worth it. I can help.
Good luck!
Does the back and search button work because other than that I don't really want it.

Yes, buttons work as suppose to IF you install custom kernel on top of ROM. I use one made by samno (lots of settings too):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077071
Hope it will help.
Good luck!
OK what phone do u have a lg thrill or optimus 3d also I heard the back and search button doesn't work with lg thrill and if i t does work do u want to help me.
Ok, my phone was originally LG-P925g with Rogers (Canada) - I'm not sure if it was officially called Thrill since I bought it used. Then I read and realized that it's absolutely the same phone as Optimus 3D (920).
So for last year I was using Prometheus ROM with iBluekernel.
Then I decided to try ICS port from XBSA. And it worked. Lots of hoops to go thrugh but works.
Then I put kernel made by samno (in 3D development section) and that kernel solved button issue. But I got another one - at home I could connect to wifi but couldn't go past router. So today I flashed kernel made by iodak and am happy surfer.
If you just flash xbsa port you will have all 4 buttons, but BACK button works as HOME and SEARCH as BACK. HOME is HOME and SETTINGS is SETTINGS.
I hope it helps.

[Q] Stable ROMS for HTC Desire C (working wifi)?

I am looking for a ROM that has a nice theme, and is cleared of the Built-in apps that came with the stock OS.
I've tried ReVolutionMod 3.1, but cannot get wifi to work
I also see that CM10 does not have wifi support (because HTC hasn't released source for the driver, or the driver itself?)
I am a little confused about this phone because I thought it had an ICS stock distribution, however mine came with Eclair I beleive.
Could I be pointed to the working ROMS?
Thank you

The working roms are the ones that are based on ICS with or without sense.
HTC hasn't released the source code for the driver.
The desire C is retailed with ICS, as far as I know there haven't been android 2.2 Desire C's.
WiFi should be working flawlessly on your device, although you can try posting a logcat maybe some of the devs could point you to the solution.
I'll take a look at it if you are willing to post it here and see if i could figure out the problem.
Just install a custom kernel like the Prometheus in my signature. Then wifi should work with the Revolution Rom !
I'm not sure what happened with ReVolution, but I was getting "Error" in the little wifi widget persistently, and wasn't able to connect. Sorry I didn't get a logcat for it.
I ended up flashing Slim-Sense-v1, which I'm not sure is the best choice, but it seems stable for now.
Is there a good directory of these ROMS that is kept up-to-date? It seems very scattered and sparse over these forums and other sites for this phone.
Just download one click tool ( however) and put kernel in kernel folder then click boot to bootloader and click flash kernel and WiFi should work.

BOOT.IMG
You have to flash the boot.img included inside the rom...The one which is in root of the folder that is of 800 mhz and if your phone gets in bootloops with that just go in folder named Kernels and then flash any of the 2 kernels then your phone should boot up and WiFi should work
Hit THANKS IF I HELPED YOU

I have tried all the three boot.img files of nameless 7.2.4 rom. The one clocked at 800MHz does not boot. The two others boot the device, but still wi-fi error.
I tried also the boot image of revolutionmodv.3.5. It even does not boot the device (bootloop at htc logo).

Thanks man. I tried it, and many others before. None of them solves wi-fi erro with my stock rom.
I do have a handset from Virgin Canada. Does it make sense that the boot.img should come from the stock of Virgin?

I have no idea if virgin canada is the issue but heres a link to a canadian rom . In that thread is another link for a rom .canadian rom I guess you need to see if there is a boot.img in there that will help .
What we have kinda seen on here is most wifi issues are solely boot.img issues.
Can you have to appreciate I'm at best clueless and and worst dangerous rofl.
Hopefully , just hopefully one of the guys with the knowledge will see my spammage in this section and come to our rescue lol
hope you can get this sorted . I'll pop by in a couple of hours and if you,ve had no luck I'll pm a few of the guys to pop into the thread
all the best rich

Thanks man. Much appreciated your help.
I just thought that the origin of boot.img may help - but I'm not the expert
The link to the canadian stock rom is broken - the file has been removed.
