hello I have a Galaxy Note and have root it and it shows the yellow triangel.
And I have read how to remove it. and I have an JTAG but can I in safe test it so the JTAG is a working one.
or is it just put it in and start the phone and if it is working it goes into recovery or what.
yellow triangle will appear whenever you use odin to flash anything that is not stock.
simplest way is to use chainfire's triangle away app, just search for it and you will find it it does it all for you!
search on the play store for 'triangle away' that will do the job for you

But I have an jtag and just want to know how to test it and see if it works.
its one from DX.
i think you should look here: http://tinyurl.com/9jgmocv
or just search this forum....but there is really no need for the jtag, triangle away app is simple and its free for xda-member (just search.....)

These guys are trying to help you here. You have a Note. Use the NOTE to download Triangle Away from the store.
It will not work with your DX, and you don't need a JTAG.
Have you read anything these guys have said!?
im sorry but store say its not compatible and I cant download and install it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1327986&d=1347697097
Download it on your PC and transfer to phone (NOTE!) Or download on the Note and install it.
It really doesnt get any easier !!
Triangle Away is not compatible with 2.3.x
upgrade your system to ICS and try it
yea thats why I did not try it first. Maybe upgrade it or flash Kingdroid on it.

I figured i ask here I bought a phone from a friend and he told me the phone is locked and the users gmail account option will not respond. Not sure what he did but its mine now and im not sure what to do. This is a known glitch ive heard but I just cannot get the work around it. Can someone help what steps do i need to take? He also told me "This is what my friend told me about this phone as i dont have it yet. "If you can get it out of the lock screen from the password yes it is fully functional. You can still get incoming calls and the display is damaged but does not mess with the function of the screen". My question is will factory restore help this? Or what would i need to do? I dont have the phone yet its being shipped. Is this fixable?
Once you get it, you can flash a stock rom and it will wipe everything on it, restoring to like new

Thats grt can you send me a link to the stock rom? Also so if it is locked right now this stock rom would solve that problem? Also the password issue and gmail user account issue? I dont think its rooted does it need to be to flash the stock rom? Im new at all this with this type of phone. Since its already 2.2 does that help. And should it be 2.3.3 now?
Wait. Wait wait, before you go flashing things that could soft brick your phone. What's the build#

But can get incoming calls and if password was unlocked it would be fully functional and display damaged but doesnt mess with the function of the screen what ever that means. I just would like to think i can get this to work when i get it. I dont care if i have to start over meaning whatever is it at now just reset the whole phone from boot i guess

Before you start flashing, get yourself a JIG. It will fix a soft brick if it should happen. For the stock rom go into the development section and look for the KB2 thread. And make sure you read some of the stickies around here so you know the risks of flashing/modding your phone. Good luck.

With phone off and not connected to the computer
Open odin KF1 ATT GB bootloaders as ADMINISTRATOR and B4 you connect phone(VERY important)
While holding volume + and - plug in USB that is connected to back of computer. That will get you download mode.
Hit start on Odin KF1 BL flasher. Let it finish and reboot you. (will boot into samsung recovery)then delete all user data.
Pull battery and disconnect phone. Close Odin BL flasher.
Open Odin3 v1.85 and place the KI2 tar.md5 in the PDA slot.(which is in a .rar file and the password is sampro.pl You have to extract it to flash with odin.) Start and wait. Let reboot and boot all the way up.
Let me know when its done and I will help you with root, cuz this post is way too long.
Ok ty yes i know the thread is long here is the latest ive heard maybe this might help a little bit. My friend told me after asking about the build #. "You can not get to that menu as the phone is locked on the password screen. Gmail will not kick it out of the screen as it is suppose to". Does this help ?
Wait till you get the phone.
Build number is inside the battery compartment, usually on a white label. It should be 4 digits, which interpret as yymm, the year and month of the time the phone was made by Samsung. Older builds came with Android 2.1 Eclair, referred to sometimes as JF6 software from Samsung. J is 2010, F is June, 6 is the 6th complete compile of the ROM.
After February, 2011, Captivates were upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo, typically software build KB1, or KB2, 2011 February.
In May, Releases of Gingerbread, specifically for Captivate started being leaked by Samsung, nothing is official yet.
KEx is Gingerbread 2.3.3
KHx is Gingerbread 2.3.4
KIx is Gingerbread 2.3.5
Newer phones seem not to like going to older releases of Android for some reason.
Be careful, take out the SIM card and any SD card before you do anything like flashing.
Pick one of the stock ROM's first, and try to reset the phone with that. In the DEV section there are threads for each of the above. Be careful if the thread mentions flashing bootloaders, and read the directions.
Hi Guys,
Long time reader/downloader. First time poster.
Ok so I downloaded Odin from a few different threads in the SGN forum, unzipped it with winzip14 and odin wont stay open for more than 1 second, it just flashes up and goes away. Any help would be amazing i just brought a SGN and its got shamefull ICS on it so i want to down-date to GB to be safe.
Im running windows 7 ultimate x64 bit
PC-ODIN comes by default with two support files. You need to have them along while running the program. I have attached the file just in case. :good:

actually there's a simple way to flash ur phone without worries.
any roms just flash on the phone wif Mobile odin n is easy to flash without binary count n yellow triangle.
go here flash ur safe kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
use the safe kernel to do a backup n do a special backup efs backup.
everything backup success, "backup is to prevent flashing breakdown"

Can someone answer me - WHY are you using ROM manager when it's known that it kills our Galaxy Mini? Is it really that hard to use Odin, or just flash CWM recovery through the stock one?
Guess some people love to learn it the hard way. You have a unrepairable (at least at home) BRICK!

Sorry! Just a thought came to my mind can it b there any solution for this evergreen problem? Like newbies r bricking their phone again & again. ( like warning in stickies) . Just thinking! !! That's all.....

You have no reason to be sorry . It's a great idea to put a warning message about ROM Manager in a sticky. However, i once was a total noob too, and i flashed CWM using Odin, it didn't even came to my mind to use ROM Manager.
Reading a couple of different tutorials and educationg yourself before doing anything is the best possible thing someone can do to prevent situations like this. But, like i said, some people have money to waste
lol ... ROM Manager is screwing up everyones phone. Even my friend's mini bricked. He was unlucky that his warranty had got over. He asked the samsung service center and they told him that it would cost $90 for a new motherboard. He uses his galaxy mini as a paper weight now. Rather buy a new phone than buy a motherboard for $90.
If your phone is under warranty, you can get your phone fixed for free in samsung service center( free new motherboard ). Even I bricked my phone when I was a noob with ROM Manager thankfully my warranty was valid that time.
Although I was able to use ROM Manager with no problems.

One real problem is that Rom Manager comes by default on most CM7 based roms. So most new users while experimenting might brick their phone by accident.

I agree, but nobody forces them to experiment with something they have no knowledge of. Phones are not toys to play with (to some extent )
A big warning in the general and development section would be enough.

Most new users don't browse the stickies, just notice the large no. of redundant and useless threads. They just open the thread pertaining to the rom they want and that's that. It would be nice if each Rom had either the rom manager removed or a warning with the download link itself
never say to anyone that rom manager's brick cannot be recovered in home, it can be
the only step is just press volume down home power button but without panicking, panicking is the main reason of can't able to get into download mode
then just flash with odin, dont think it cannot get into dl mode, dl mode is controlled by bootloader and bootloader is not removed by rom manager
Unsuccesfull flash of bootloader hard-bricks our device, so you can't enter DL mode.
You can always give it a shot with a USB JIG* tho. But in most cases, the only thing that helps is JTAG.
*USB JIG - a 301k resistor between the 4th and 5th pin on the microUSB connector.
Tried that.
I've seen that video like about a thousand times. No luck i even went to a repair men today, he said your phone is dead if it can't go in to recovery menu. Is there any other way i can repair my phone? Sorry for late VERY reply
Yes, either use JTAG or send it to the service center.
Brick caused by rom manager is absolute
Nothing can be done

Sorry you had to learn it the hard way. When you're new in this world it's easy to 'trust' all CM standard apps. Nevertheless: using CM means you're a root user. Your phone is rooted which means you can seriously damage your phone when you don't know what youre doing. That's exactly the reason why your phone is NOT rooted when you buy it, and your garantee is void when you root it yourself!
Some of these apps provide a warning: with great power comes great responsability!
Nevertheless: the first thing i do when i buy a new Android is rooting it! But a general warning is at place: root apps can damage your phone. Especially those to install roms. Even with a proper CWM you can flash a wrong or faulty Rom. The risk of bricking your phone is always there.
So think twice when you buy a new phone and read all about flashing on XDA!
Okay, so essentially I'm fixing my friends Galaxy Note. He had ICS on it, it was rooted, and then he thought installing Cyanogen 10 was a good idea on the default samsung unsafe kernal, and ICS, also the "unsafe for use" CM10. He's not very bright.
Being the kind friend I am, I said I'd fix it. It was stuck on the "plug into kies for recovery" screen, and when I plugged it into kies, it asked for a recovery password... which he obviously forgot. So I tried flashing it with a stock ICS rom, but it got stuck on factoryfs.img.
From there I could flash a new kernel using a USB jig, which was the default samsung one, and get it into the ClockWorkMod recovery which was thankfully installed. But he didn't backup his stock rom beforehand *facewall*
I still can't flash roms using odin or CWM. And I looked up the factoryfs.img and said it was a partition error.
Is it worth trying to fix the partition error using ADB and command, or is it possible for someone nice to give me their backup to get it working again?
Thanks,
Aaron
If you are getting a factoryfs.img or NAND write start hang up in Odin, more than likely it is superbricked. There's a thread in General (I think) that you can look at at possibly reviving it the "hard" way but who knows if it will work fully again without taking it to the samsung service centre.
You can revive using this method :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
U will loose few GB on Ur usb internal storage.
But if u don't want to loose anything, u can only bring to Samsung.
I choose to revive, and I lost 2GB. Now my phone working well.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone have some detailed information regarding a USB JIG for this phone?
Does a normal 300k ohm jig work with the same pins as for the S2 and S3(9300)? Or is there a something else for the GT-I9305?
My counter is climbing and I don't wanna risk wasting my phone with "Triangle Away" as I read people have done.
Anyone that have made some testing with a USB JIG or maybe have a guide that I can't find in the forums?
If the JIG is working I would love some step by step info on how to keep the modified flag away. I think I need to use Mobile ODIN/ODIN PC and stock recovery or something. Any help will be much appreciated.
Yes same as i9300

If my memory serves me correctly I think that even if you manage to reset the counter it will add 1 after the phone have started up once. So in order to permanently reset it you might have to install stock recovery and then Triangle Away. After that install a working rom with Odin in download mode so the prone doesnt start up and add another count.
I have read this somewhere so cant quote the source or say its true, havent tested myself but getting rid of the counter doesnt seem exactly easy and safe... Therefor I am personally getting a JIG and not doing until someone release a nice 4.2 rom =)
If someone have more info on this I for one would love to know about it!

Yes, from what I have read from others you need to run triangle away and then after it has finished boot straight to download mode and flash a stock rom, that should keep the counter at 0
