Hello there.... I'm in a big trouble, my two years daughter dropped my HD7 this evening on the floor, the phone restarts and it tells me memory card problem error, so I did a hard reset but no luck, the phone can't detect the memory card and also the sim card.
So my main question is : Is there anything broken inside my phone or it's just a little problem that I can fix it by replacing the memory card, or in another way what is the troubleshooting that I have to make to figuer out what is the problem?

Is your phone under warranty?
Have you tried flashing a ROM?

The SIM and the microSD are plugged into a card slot connected with a flex cable, you'll have to disassemble the HD7 to see if the flex is well seated.
keep me posted about the results.
I opened the small cover that hides the memory and sim cards hardly, desperetly tapped with my fingers hardly on the slots, put the sim card and battery back, and turn the phone on, what a surprise everything is ok .
but i don't know if another little hit or drop will unplug somthing.
Thanks for your concern

So I'm attempting to get my friends phone working properly after he messed something up. He called HTC and they told him there are system files missing so the phone won't connect to the internet or power the screen off, will randomly come back and sit on even if you set it up to shut off after 30 seconds.
Factory reset didn't work either way you can do it through about phone or holding down the buttons. I want to reinstall the default OS from the beginning, I get a error through zune that says can't check for updates try again later and gives me a error 80070002

The only thing is I don't have his sim card as he had to throw it in his other phone and go on a business trip so if I just need that to do it let me know.
Go into the hd7 development section and look for for the thread started by football not ansar. Thats the one should be rom version 1.20. Will return to 7004 pre-nodo. Just was looking he has a few threads actually. If your on tmobile us look for the one that says tmous 1.20

I had mango update but then i downgraded to the above using my restoration point in Zune...i want to dev unlock my device...so please could one of you help me by posting the link to original OS ROM for above device...
Here: (from the Chinese Windows Phone 7 community wpxap.com)
http://u.115.com/file/f8195fb6af
This link leads to a Chinese website, use a translator if needed. And it may expire so act fast.
You need to follow these instructions to put your HD7 into Flash mode to reinstall the original OS:
0 Backup your device.
1 Install Zune software since a driver included is needed.
2 With your phone off, press & hold the Power button with Volune Down button down, until a screen with 4 colors appear, and on the bottom line written "Serial"
3 Connect the HD7 with USB to your computer, wait until the "Serial" on your device became "USB", indicating the device driver's installed properly.
4 Run the file you downloaded (an executable, it may be placed in an archive) and hit "next" all the way, until your device reboots into OS version 7.0.7004.
Thanks

Hmm have you tried adding an APN (Settings, Cellular, Add APN), I've not had to touch the APN settings on my HD7s (and it's a US AT&T phone but I had an O2 simcard which worked fine)...
Settings I used on my HD2 were from here but the WP7 options look much simpler...
Good luck
Hello all,
I own an HTC HD7 and am looking to correct a bonehead mistake on my part - I changed my Windows Live ID Email Address. I realize now this totally destroys my phone!
As I found out - the only way to correct this on the phone is to do a Hard Reset.
There is data on the phone I do not wish to lose with a hard reset:
- Applications no longer available in the marketplace that I have purchased
- Progress on games (save games that would be lost)
- Applications that require a unique 'key' tied to an account (authenticators)
I figure there are two possible resolutions:
A. Find a way to back up only the data / applications so that after hard resetting the phone I can restore only those applications and data and not the incorrect live id email.
B. Change the live ID email on the phone as indicated by this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19196048
Option A seems 'easier' but I'm not sure if it is possible.
Option B will require a lot of work as my phone is fully retail and I would need guidance on unlocking it, sideloading a registry app, applying the registry fix...
Either way, I want to try this before I hard reset the phone. I have a zune backup of the phone from the recent update if I need to restore.
Here are the details of my device:
HTC HD7
OS Version: 7.10.8107.79

Radio hardware version: A.12.0.D4
Bootloader version: 5.12.2250.0(135916)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
Please let me know if more information is needed!

For me is the same,
I have used the same procedure and more others, but the downgrade process always goes wrong..
I noticed some mistakes who the app does before the upload process:
1) always can't find my phone when is connected to the PC
2) don't show my Os version when does the last examination
3) don't give you an advice if something goes wrong before the upload
I want to advice you some better ways to unlock our Phones:
1) In June probably will be the next OS Update, no?
Why they don't starting to work to a next custom unlock update for it?
Maybe if we don't update our phones whit the next, we have the opportunity to update with an custom version.
2) They try to create some app who read and replace the program codes inside the smarphone.
The better way to update our phone it's only Zune, we need a custom version of this.
Hope we find a way, bye.
Follow the gold card method its simple if u have right Y cable.

Please please help me guys... Is there a way on how to delete apps in my phone? It dont have micro sd card.
[email protected]
Since it's your first post and from what I can tell (just an educated guess) you're / have been an Android user, there are a few things you need to know:
1) HD7s DO have an SD card which is expandable up to reportedly 64GB with certain SD batch & class numbers. there's more than one thread covering this but be warned, it requires getting you hands dirty.
2) Even if you remove the SD there's no way you can access or modify its contents and fit it in without having to restore factory settings.
3) A removed SD card CAN be recovered i.e. become readable / usable by other devices. Can be a bit tricky process though.
4) You CAN remove APPS, not system components, that you don't want by simply tapping and holding the icon(s) on the list. A pop-up gives the option to do so.
5) For jail breaking I suggest you install a custom ROM which will be FULLY unlocked. This will give you MANY serious advantages over stock.
6) To flash a custom ROM you MUST downgrade the bootloader first or chances are you'll brick your phone.
So before proceeding with ANY custom ROM flash, use search for the goldcard method first, then do the Cotulla RSPL / HSPL.
I will not post any links as its a bit of a pain switching pages on my itsy-bitsy screen but you can still search and READ before doing anything.
Hope I was helpful enough.
Welcome to wp7 and HD7...Good luck
