[Q] bootloader not allowed xperia z

my phone is showing me that it cant unlock boot loader when i see in service test bt typing *#7378432#*#*
i am from india and using normal xperia z (not any docomo or any)
can any one say what to do for getting permission for unlocking boot loader

Short answer - you can't unlock it ever.
The only exception would be if the status changed to disallowed after rooting. There is a fix for that somewhere in Doomlord's rooting thread.

First time I checked, I was also disappointed, a few days later I realized that I checked the status without having a root phone. After I rooted the phone it said yes for me.

Mine has always said 'Yes', even before I rooted.

Maybe. Only if the bootloader was actually unlockable to begin with.

Short answer:
If your device says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No, it means you CAN'T unlock your bootloader.

Unless it was rooted, as this sometimes changes the status to 'No' as stated in the first post of Doomlord's thread. I used bin4ry's tool and the bootloader status was untouched.

Troubleshooting:
if your device has unlockable bootloader then after applying this hack the bootloader status will turn "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"
in that case dont worry the users have reported that doing a repair via SEUS will flash back stock firmware and turn this status to "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" (the same might also be achieved by flashing a stock FTF using FlashTool )

Hello, everyone.
I know nothing about rooting, flashing or unlocking bootloader. What I really need is to unlock the network of my phone. It was bought in Portugal locked to the TMN network. I am now back to Brazil and want to use it here. The conventional method of unlocking network is buying a code, but I want to know if there's a way to do it with no expense. What do you guys recommend?

Hello and welcome to the forums.
The only way to network unlock this device is with a code, either from the original network provider or from an online seller. It is not possible to unlock any other way.
Additionally, as you're new here, I will suggest you should start a new thread when you have a question in future instead of bumping a very old thread unrelated to your question.

I'm thankful that there are still wanting to address this issue of the bootloader not being unlocked. So my question is as such - Is there anyway (either by contacting T-Mobile, or Sony) that my phone, which is is SIM Unlocked (I know SIM unlock has nothing to do with bootloader unlock), can be bootloader unlocked? I'm just hoping that I can either get with Sony/Tmobile and have them do it, or even if there is a legitimate paid service out there then I will do that too! Any kind of help or anything would be appreciated! All I read is, 'If you're bootloader says no than that means NO', or I will often see people say that their bootloader says no and yet they can still enter fastboot mode.
Currently my device is Sony Xperia Z C6606 Tmobile version. I'm going to try to switch out my microUSB cord and see if fastboot works then. I'm still trying to have some kind of hope that maybe it will somehow work and I can flash a custom rom. Currently, whenever I plug in my phone into any computer, (with drivers installed) it never even shows up in the Device manager so I'm thinking it's an issue with my cord. It charges the device only.
Or should I just sell this phone and get a different android phone where I can unlock the bootloader? lol

You can only flash stock based roms with a stock, unmodified kernel.
Fastboot will connect even with a locked bootloader, but the commands you can use are extremely limited and in your case you cannot do anything with it at all. Your USB cable is not the problem.
If you want to flash CM/PA/AOSP etc, then you'll have to buy a new device. The bootloader is non unlockable. Nobody has cracked the security yet and I don't think anyone is even working on it, to be honest.
Sony or T-Mobile will not unlock it.

Bootloader Unlock Code - and locked bootloaders

Dear all,
Just as you might already know, not all Xperia Z are blessed with having an unlocked bootloader .... it apparently is something related to the carrier though and not to Sony themselves. As it happens if your bootloader is locked and is NOT unlockable you can still head to the website and get your unlock code by putting in your IMEI.
Now that's weird ...... Now just wondering if the same procedure could be applied to get the device bootloader unlocked ....

Yes true but then again why does the Sony bootloader unlock site still provide an unlock code for locked bootloader xperia z's? This implies that the unlock code is used by Sony technicians to unlock bootloaders ... it's only a matter of determining what that procedure is .... This is definitely being used by carriers.

Really interested to know this for certain, I just got a Z on o2 UK and am a little disappointed that I can't flash any roms. I don't think I can live with stock for ever! Had previously purchased a (dreadful) bootloader locked xperia play which had the 'bootloader allow unlock' set to 'no' which a helpful guy on here managed to change to a 'yes' for the reasonable sum of £10 but this was using testpoint method which obviously won't work on a Z as it's sealed.
If the answer is definately a no to unlocking the bootloader even 'unofficially' then I think i'll have to send this phone back and try my luck with a different phone (an ugly S4 probably). I really do love this phone but I also love being able to change my roms as often as I like to whatever I like.
In the past a bounty would have attracted some devs to work out a cunning plan but if this is not possible at all then theres no point

Maybe if you change your customization and download a generic cust. ROM, you could probably unlock the bootloader?
If you backup you data and create an ftf for your current cust, you should be able to restore if it doesn't work.
Use the first guide to get an ftf of your stock ROM.
Second to check what generic customization you'd like to download.
Third to change your customization and download & get the appropriate ftf.
Flash the ftf using flashtool.
Relevant guides:

[INFO] Latest firmware version per customization (region/branding) {18-Jul-2013}

The unlock code is generated from the imei number I think, so putting in any imei number will return an unlock code.
Try it.

One guy claimed he done this but never came out with exact step by step instructions so no proof in this.
I previously tried every combination with no avail. as seen in previous threads about unlocking bootloaders we need alot of work done by a dev who knows what he is doing, sony have really tied up the security on these phones.

Well, it was a suggestion, you can try it if you want to.
If it doesn't work, then the only possible way is to somehow flash a bootloader that allows itself to be unlocked and this, I suppose, will require bypassing security.
The bootloader is usually not flashable and flashing an unsigned bootloader is even harder.
Reverse engineering bootloaders requires experience and involves a considerable amount of risk.
And that's only half the struggle. You also need to think about how you're going to flash it onto your phone.

I really would but I haggled a good deal with o2, £12 a month cheaper than what phones4u advertised with a free Z.
I am probably going to send it back though, just a shame as I really like this phone! Could always try phones4u and see if they will offer the same deal. I should have really thought about the possibility of permanently locked bootloader before I ordered it, after all the grief I had with my old xperia play.
So it definately can't be changed ever if it's set to disallow bootloader unlock?

So can no devs lend a hand to this issue. A lot of people with Xperia Z's are affected by this issue.

It's all down to the TA partition. If it contains "bootloader unlock allowed = no" then you are screwed. Trying to modify it or flash someone else's TA results in an unrecoverable, permanent HARDBRICK, regardless of what bootloader or kernel is flashed

I would like to point out something. Now I know these two things aren't the same, but I'd like to use it as an example. The Xperia Z's bootloader is locked, obviously lol, I've been modding xboxs and ps3s for a long time, and from that experience I think it can relate to this. Why? Well, from my experiance,on the xbox you can't put a custom dashboard unless you JTAG it, although you can get free games if you flash the chip on the disc drive but that's all. with saying that, it's like saying, you can put custom funcions in the Z but you can't change the ROM. So with the xbox, before you're allowed to flash a custom dashboard, you have to unlock your NAND software, with a ps3 (made by sony lol) you can flash a custom firmware if your on firmware 3.55 but if you're above that, you need an e3 flasher to flash your NOR or NAND chip to downgrade and mod it, one time with the ps3 there was a thing called a E3 Stick, I believe it was called that, i can't remember, and with the e3 stick it wpuld exploit the system cause it was a certain type of board it was build with... So if we'd be able to maybe, find a way to exploit the bootloader, or possibly JTAG it or flash it then I think we'd be able to achieve our goal of putting a custom ROM. The problem with the JTAG or flash theory is that we'd have to open the Xperia Z, so as another theory now, we find a device that we plug into the phone and exploits it to let us flash any ROM we want. just like samsung devices, if the phone gets hard bricked and it doesn't turn on anymore,fried, or if you want to reset the flash count you'd use a JIG to put it into download mode and flash any ROM you want to save the device.

Is there a possible way to unlock on the fly? Like not need a computer? I have the unlockcode

No. The phone needs to be in fastboot mode to unlock the bootloader. The only way to send commands to the bootloader is via a PC.

[Q] Factory locked bootloader

Just received the XSP as an upgrade on T-Mobile UK and was disappointed to discover via the service menu that the bootloader is unlockable. Forgive me for asking but does this mean that there is absolutely no chance that at any point in the future I will be able to unlock it? I would like to use custom roms and want to know if I kight as well look for a new phone. This was never a problem on my old Optimus Black.

Just to make it clear bootloader is locked this means no custom kernel which might mean custom ROMs are out ie. Cm,akop,PAC etc
You will be able to root using doomlord exploit and in time will get cwm for locked bootloader so we be able to use modded stock ROMs.
As it stands only root is available for locked bootloader hope this helps

There is a way to unlock your bootloader. You must get a SIM unlock code, unlock your SP and send an email to Sony with some data like Imei, unlock code, etc. Then a messenger will be sent to pick your phone and lucky, Sony will unlock your phone.

this may be true but it only works with bootloader that is allowed, he states in op that his bootloader is unlockable.
service menu shows if you can or not open bootloader, i am on 3 and my bootloader is locked have tried with sony code but get message not available.

Few days ago sent an email to Sony asking about this issue. Here in Spain there was a global complaint from Xperia U users asking for open the possibility of unlock their bootloaders: not to unlock it but to change the "unlockable" state of the phone. After the debate, Sony says people could send their phones to Sony attaching the respective unlock code with which they'd unlocked (SIM Unlock). Then Sony would send the telephones with the bootloader unlockable.
PS: Maybe he meant "not unlockable" instead "unlockable". If it's unlockable then he doesn't have any problem!

Yeah, mate. You have to send a message to Sony saying you've (sim) unlocked your phone and you want to unlock your bootloader. They will send you all the information you need to go through with the process.

Problem with recovery z1 Help please.

Ok so i've made a mistake, fortunately I can still use my phone but i'm in unfamiliar territory.
What I did was download the 4.3 Rom by RomAur, installed the rom and the recovery as per the instructions within the thread, then rebooted to flashmode and entered flashtool so I could flash the kernel and baseband from 290, but made the mistake of excluding kernel and baseband and flashing the only other option which was BOOTBUNDLE, and since then my recovery has been inaccessible.
I've reflashed the dual recovery but it won't allow me to access it via the power on up or down method or the adb reboot recovery method.
I really can't continue with this phone or flash anything without a working recovery, does anyone have any idea how to get my recovery back please??
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm also wanting to unlock the bootloader but without a working recovery i'm a little hesitant to begin.

Well i've gone and downgraded but used an unbranded ftf, which has now taken over my IMEI, which now reads 0000000000000000.
In a bad way here and stuck in work with limited internet, i'm now back on a 534 rom and feel like smashing this thing up.
Going home soon so will sit down and go through it all again from scratch, wish i'd just left it on my old monx rom now.
Bad times.
Any other ideas Greg ? Or anyone else?

just upgrade back, I believe you get your IMEI back that way..
The problem you are having is that you need unlocked boot to get a properly working recovery and root on 4.3

Ah i see, well i'm downloading an ftf which is t-mobile 534, it's the closest thing i could get to EE, as at the moment i have no recovery and no root.
So should i do this in this order.
get this tmobile 534 and re root and get recovery, i imagine at this point my IMEI will still be missing (hopefully not) then what would you do?
Update to 4.3 by using one of those roms? and then unlock the bootloader? As thats where I ended up losing recovery, i'm thinking thats maybe down to me flashing boot bundle instead of kernel and baseband through flash tool.
Also doesn't unlocking the bootloader require system rw access?

1) Update to 4.3 using a FTF of your choice.
2) Unlock bootloader (This will wipe system and internal memory so have a backup of internal sdcard)
3) Flash any of the three kernels from the top of this post, I am using the third one with philz recovery.
4) enter recovery and flash the SuperSU.zip found in that same post.
Done.
You do not need root to unlock bootloader. The kernels have the recovery incorporated into them

How do you flash a rom without a recovery though? sideload? Not sure, but nevermind, i ended up doing what i said i was going to do and now i'm back online and have re rooted but still on 4.2, will probably stay on 4.2 until 4.3 is 100%
Not being able to use things was too much of a pain in the arse.

Ahh that sounds simple enough, cheers m8, well i'll maybe give that a whirl as i'm at home and obviously my internal has been wiped anyway, got a back up in work so i'm running on minimum until i go back there.
While i'm in this state i may as well give it a go.

Well i've not attempted the unlock because after following the instructions it says in my phone that my bootloader cannot be unlocked.
I downloaded a vodafone UK ftf if that makes any difference, i got my phone from EE.
I noticed that you said to someone that they couldn't unlock the bootloader if it said that? Is there no way around it?

Bootloader Unlocking Allowed: NO
You can't unlock bootloader. Is impossible and no confirmation if even will be in some "unofficial" way.

Yea i've just learnt that from Greg, that is ridiculous, I've never had a phone that this has happened to.
First and last Sony i ever buy, period.

Get your Sony phones from Vodafone, all 3 of my Xperia T's and my Z1 have been able to be unlocked.

I learnt about the answer to my thread after i'd heard from Greg, I don't plant one seed i plant several, I find out what i need to know quickly because my life doesn't give me time very often.

So what youre saying is that if the phones unlocked then the bootloader unlock will work?
I seriously can't have an android phone as restricted as this.

Is there any solid data on how/why some Z1s cannot be bootloader unlocked? I have a C6906 from Overseas Electronics which I think was sourced from Canda and cannot be BL unlocked, though it's sim unlocked and otherwise works fine on AT&T LTE.
I found a thread/post here mentioning that Sony may be able to "fix" these devices (and possibly for free, at that). I'm going to run down that angle, but if there's any technical data on what could be preventing the BL unlock I'd be very interested in doing some legwork on my own.

Not too sure mate, think its coded not to be unlockable, in which case someone would have to do quite a bit of digging to undo whatever was done. And seeing as that the vast majority of people knew to buy from a source that doesn't have the NO to unlocking the BL I would say that its not going to happen any time soon. I usually do a bit of digging before I buy a phone, rushed into this one and I'm paying for it now.
I'll check out that link you put up, maybe there's hope yet.
Edit: as for the link you put up, that's just for the sim lock.
If you want an unlockable phone then you'll either have to claim from a 3rd party insurer an hope that they give you an unlocked phone or contact Sony for an RMA and hope that they give you one. Otherwise I can't see it.
But in all fairness your missing custom kernels and aosp type ROMs. Most everything else will work fine, including all (well most) the ROMs that are in the android development section, so that's not a total loss by any means.
When roots fixed completely for 4.3, well see more.

You need to buy a unlocked bootloader phone. I'm with a lock bootloader too...

If yours are in 4.1.2, downgrade to 4.0.4 and check Boot Loader unlock status again. Good luck.

There's one case where your statement isn't true but it doesn't apply to AT&T Xperias, indeed.
Namely, if you use binary's rooting toolkit version 21 (and some other versions too) to obtain root on at least Xperia V (cannot say for the other models), the Service menu will show bootloader status as “unlock allowed: no” regardless of the actual bootloader lock state.

Flashing an older firmware version to a phone with non-unlockable bootloader will not solve the problem, as common retail firmware images from Sony do not alter the bootloader.

this actually makes sense. to network unlock my xperia x10 i had to downgrade to frayo and use some kinda unlock software from fastgsm.com i think, unlock it upgrade back to gingerbread now bootloader status went from all caps to common ( rooted) idk how come

Have you ever tried it? My phone is TX, with 4.0.4 stock , bootloader status unlock said "yes", I upgraded to 4.1.2 and status said "no", did rollback to stock 4.0.4, I unlocked my TX bootloader. Do not give advice when you do not know it surely. I did it my own hand.

Maybe you rooted it on 4.1.2, and that's how it ended up like this.

It wouldn't be that easy don't get your hopes up now I could see maybe if some one found some way to do it like with the test point method with the Xperia arc it would be possible but I've previously looked around and haven't seen any body able to unlock there bootloader on this phone just yet I haven't taken a look lately but as far as I know it's not happening as of yet.

this is the the right point. and i think it should be a known Bug in the XT community
if you have bootloader unlock allow: yes
and then you root your 4.1.2
it will display bootloader unlock allow: no
but it is still unlockable (must be a little bug?!)
so....no, you will not unlock your bootloader easily your way
