Hello,
I have a friend with a Non-Rooted, totally stock Galaxy Ace s5830M that's stuck on a boot loop. He was playing a game and the screen started flashing and it rebooted. It is now stuck in a boot loop.
I've been able to get in to Stock Recovery and in to Download mode without issues.
We tried to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery. It apparently succeeds , but when we reboot it does not "stick". Flash CWM,reboot and it just shows the Stock recovery menu. I found this thread, regarding this issue.. But this phone is completely stock, bought on Amazon and shipped to Venezuela. I think it was running Gingerbread.
We then tried to flash to a Stock Firmware from my country from Sammobile.com with Odin.
Once a single file recovery ( a large file with a md5.tar extension) and it fails:

When we reboot the phone, we now get a boot screen that says the device is a S5830C instead of a S5830M. But it's still stuck on the Samsung logo at boot.
We really don't know what else to try. Any ideas? Is this phone bricked?
Thanks,
Rafael
Factory reset ur phone from recovery & wipe cache. Also, U need to place the individual firmware files at correct fields in odin (hope U did that) otherwise ur phone'll not be able to boot properly.
As far as I know there are four files (BOOT, PHONE, PDA, CSC) in full package & only one file (of extension:- tar.md5) in One Package firmware...

You need to do a hard reset after flashing the stock rom.

The S5830i, S5830C, S5830M and S5839i are the same aka cooperve.
The only difference is the region, this version of Odin works with S5830M too!
Anyway, this rom you flashed is from Brazil, and works with your phone too. Try a wipe data/factory reset on recovery, this maybe works.
You should have a look at S5830i Development and S5830i General, there you will find more answers about your phone.

Hi Rafael. OK, I have made a detailed how to in Taringa that specifies the way to install a Stock ROM for SGA GT-S5830M. Just search in google "tutorial flashear samsung galaxy ace 5830m con odin - Taringa!" (without quotation marks) and enter the first result, it would redirect you to my post, check that the name of the creator is "jhonaff", if so, just download the files from there, and flash them via Odin 1.85 or 1.87. In the post there is a link to download the version 1.85, this version of Odin is the one that works perfectly with this device. Following that steps I gave life again to my SGA 5830M.
After you download, unzip the files in the S5830M.rar archive, you will get three .tar.md5 files; now put the files in the following order in Odin:
BOOTLOADER -> leave this section empty.
PDA -> select the PDA file.
PHONE -> select the MODEM file.
CSC -> select the CSC file.
Now click Start button and wait for the process to finish; at the end of the process the phone will reboot in recovery automatically and it will run a script, don't unplug it, and don't do anything yet. The phone will reboot once more and now it will pass the Samsung logo and will show you the Samsung bootanimation. Now you can unplug it and wait, the first boot may take 1 or 2 minutes and you will get your phone alive again.
PD: I can't give you a link to my post cause I'm new in this site and I don't have 2 posts here, so I can't post links in my replies.
PD2: My post in Taringa is in Spanish, I think it is understandable, but if not, use a traductor, after all you just want to download the correct files.
I hope this can help you. I speak spanish and has been years from the last time I spoke in English, so forgive me if something is wrote incorrectly.
Thank you jhonaff2

also i wanted to say when my root and cmw went fine i did a back up on it and it worked before , each time i try to restore it in the end at the data it says :
.android_secure.img not found and its bypassing that part
but says its done after , but doesnt boot too
Pull out the battery and replace after 10 seconds, then try flashing different ROM using PC Odin. while flashing do not Tick Re-partition and do not attach pit file.
If he is flashing another ROM with PC Odin his counter will raise up and the yellow triangle will show up.
It can only be removed with a JIG.

wanted to try rocketrom ics. So went to recovery and flashed v 1.4, did a complete wipe before and after, but after that, the recovery module became unresponsive, so I force rebooted and the phone was stuck on boot screen "Samsung Galaxy Note 7000".
So I used PC odin and tried to flash the KL3 ROM but was stuck at factoryfs.img. Tried LA5 too, but same situation. Kindly help.
I am from Pune, India.
Hi all,
I was on the UK Stock 4.03 + Root....
I was trying to connect to a Blue-tooth Device today and the phone was frozen, so I turned it off....
When I tried to turn it back on...it won't go pass the "Samsang Galaxy Note" screen....(it would restart it self every time it reaches that screen)
I tried flashing it to the 4.0.4 German Stock via Odin...and the problem is still there....
is my phone BRICKED??
Please HELP~~!
THANKS!
Forgot to mentioned that when I was trying to reboot the phone for the first time....I had a USB Stick plugged into the phone...dunno if that was the cause of the problem
You said tried to flash 4.0.4, that is insufficient information
whether it was successfull or not?
do you rememeber wat exactly last msg ?
Did u try to completely remove the battery then reflash again stock ics through odin?

Yeah...I did a flash of this Stock ROM "N7000XXLRG" from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997.
The flash was SUCCESSFUL by Odin. However, When the phone rebooted after the flash the problem is still there (phone keep restarting once it reaches the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen)
btw.. this is the log of the flash in Odin:

It seems you have got bootloop
and least chances that you have data.img corrupt
For safety you just download any GB ROM and flash using PC Odin, after that go to recovery and wipe cache and data, it will be solved if only bootloop is there.
if you get error on wiping then it is case of brick bug.

How can I avoid this from happening in the future? Because I want to upgrade to ICS again

DMax99, hope everything goes well for you! When you were on ICS, didn't you flash a safe kernel like Speedmod? Keep us updated on your situation!

No I didn't....where can I get that Kernel? and do I just flash it in CWM?
cheers for the suggestion
Congrats
It was likely to revive as i said it was seems to be a bootloop rather true brick
Dont worry it was just incidence, n not likely to repeat.
You can flash ics now safely. But first wipe cache and data before flashing ics if you have not perform it still.

1. this kernel works with any stock ICS ROM?
2. Does it affect any performances....for example making the phone laggy?
cheers
My Galaxy Note GT-N7000 was on CM10 last night and I followed Zedomax's rootgalaxynote.com GT-N7000 unrooting method and when I was installing the Mobile Odin Lite on my phone, it said it needs to download more add-on to be able to flash it, then all the sudden my internet connection was down, so I couldn't download it, but followed his instruction and tried wipe and factory reset, but it got stuck at formatting (no progress), then I flashed cm9 again, but it was stuck at cm9 boot logo, nothing else. Then I followed Zedomax's rootgalaxynote.com's first method using my Computer Desktop but

the ever GOLDEN RULE: Don't ever ever attempt to WIPE data if your on a unsafe or on a stock ICS kernel. That's should be at the top of your list before you do anything on your phone. If you need to WIPE, make sure your already in a safe kernel or if you haven't still, then flash one.
Now going back on your perennial issue. The only thing you can and will do is FLASH a stock GB on download mode using PC ODIN. Yes Doc Ketan's thread/s have those old GB's ROM.. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997, follow it to a tee.
One added thing when your going to start to flash GB again... Pray, that it would not stuck back again at 'factoryfs.img'
Good luck bud!

Can you get the Note into Download mode?
If so, try using desktop Odin (latest desktop version not mobile version) and flash the Abyss 4.2 kernel. the Tar file is easily found on XDA. This is a GB kernel and should allow you to get into full Recovery. From there you can flash a new ROM as you are now on a safe kernel.
Tried that, but not sure about the latest desktop version.

Then I used Odin3-v1.85 on desktop with Gingerbread Rom, it got stuck at factoryfs.img.. I have tried with different pc disabling firewall and anti virus. What is the latest desktop version of Odin that you know? What specific tar file do you know that is the best? Thank you again.

your CM10 to CM9 downgrade sounds like a bad flash, it can happen. I would try Odin3 V3.05 with Abyss (search for "AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar" or go here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/yoe791qq3atbung/AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar).
this should allow you to install a safe kernel to flash from. if you can now access Recovery, then you can flash a ROM from there. I would use a Stock based one (I always recommend Chrack ROM or Criskelo), If you prefer, you can download a Stock tar file and use Odin but I would try downloading the latest Chrack ROM or Criskelo ROM, transferring it to your micro SD and flashing after you have installed the Abyss tar.
I hope this helps. Please hit Thanks if it did.

You gave me the AbyssNotekernel, but the only thing my phone can now do when I turn on is either show a screen with "Firmware upgrade encounters an issue. Yes, the Abyss tar file is for use with Odin. install Odin on your PC, put the Note into Download and connect. Flash the tar file and wait for the Note to reboot (search for notes on how to flash with Odin if you're not 100% sure). you should now be able to use Recovery to flash a ROM from this safe kernel.
Just a quick question.

.tar file is to be flashed with odin directly. It has an image inside and should not extract it. Should put the .tar file in one folder but not on desktop screen. Select pda box in odin and brow to the folder where you put .tar file. Should see it there.
BTW, if flash using CWM failed again, then should use hg42 scanner to check if there is partition damage.

It seem to show you have an emmc brick, although using the partition scanner will confirm. The options are to send to ss service for warranty or to revise using repartition. For warranty you will need to reset flash counter using a jig.

Hi bro,
I flashed the Abysskernel again and it went to Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 logo with big Triangle at the bottom and it then goes to Android system recovery <3e>, then it looks like there is no option for me to access the SD card, but its own 16GB storage it came with and that one has CM10 in it. Tried to flash that, but it says "E:failed to verify whole-file signature". If I attempt to claim for warranty will Samsung know that I rooted it after clearing the binary counts? Please let me know. Thank you for your instructions. If there is anything else you want me to try out, please let me know. Thank you.

Hi guys and girls.
I've been frantically searching XDA for the last few hours for a definitive answer, but to no avail, so thought it's about time I just asked!
I have in my possession a Samsung Galaxy S19000, that will only go into download made.
Here's how it happened........
This morning, I was given the phone by my brother in law and asked to root it and upgrade it to a newer/better rom. When it was passed
to me, it was.....
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: 19000XXJY
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build: FROYO.XXJPY
After a successful root and upgrade, the phone ended up like this...
Firmware: 2.3.7
Baseband: 19000XXJVK
Kernel: 2.6.35.14-g3088622
Build: CyanogenMod-7.2.0-galaxysmtd
The new Rom, as nice as it was, wasnt what he wanted, so he asked me to restore it back to it's stock state. I went into CMW and did a restore, but it failed, and now the phone will only go into download mode.
I've tried flashing a stock rom via Odin, but it got as far as the 'Nand write' stage, then hangs.
Kies doesn't show up the device in 'Emergency firmware recovery' either.
I no all is not lost, so I'm not giving up. Any help will be much appreciated.
:fingers-crossed:
Can you post the whole Odin Log?
Normally this happen when the partitions on the embedded multi media card gets corrupted for whatever reason, also known as the emmc.
Maybe it helps to flash the pit file to repartition.
To add.....
When the phone is off, it displays the 'phone and computer with an explanation mark triangle inbetween symbol', and Kies doesnt recognise it. When I enter download mode, Kies hangs at 'Connecting' for.....well..ever! So atleast I know it's recognised by my PC (ish) and it isn't completely dead :silly:
I had the same thing with the triangle a few months ago.
I just flashed a Stock Firmware with Repartition. Just be sure with Odin that you have ticked the right things Afterwards it worked.
Thankyou for you reply, and sorry for the delay posting back. God damn new user restrictions!!!

Christ that looks involved doesn't it! I think that be a last resort as it looks like I'll need to clear a day in my diary before I start!
For the moment you can ignore the second thread
Find a 3 File (PDA, Phone, CSC) Firmware ( maybe samifirmware.com ) , then download the 512 pit file for the GALAXY S! and the flash the Firmware with pit file and repartition.

Hello all,
I read now the warning post and I understand now that probably I shouldn't have done it (so please be gentle ).. however maybe someone can still help me with my situation:
I've rooted my Galaxy Note with ClockworkMod recovery successfully and then busybox.
Then I went to recovery mode again (after restarting the phone), however it loaded Android regular recovery mode (not Clockwork), so I installed Clockwork again and without restarting performed WIPE DATA (maybe that was also a mistake?). After it was finished it restarted by itself and now its in the following status:
- stucks at GALAXY NOTE N7000 logo. Sometimes blinks, but never goes beyond it.
- Recovery mode exactly same - stuck at logo.
- when plugging USB it will show the battery, but it's like stuck then.
- Tried download mode, but it's stuck at Downloading... forever.
I couldn't find the exact case as mine, that it restarted by itself and stuck at logo now.
I backed up everything, the previous ROM and etc.
I am aware of the bricking bug of ICS, however I had the ClockworkMod installed, so what did I do wrong??
And most importantly, what should I do now? Can I do something via the download mode? I don't think Odin recognizes any connected device when I plug in the USB, but I don't know how to check if it does or not..
Thanks in advance!
Switch to download mode, connect to PC and install a stock JB (be sure to install the USB drivers before).
Make a snapshot of the errors an post it here.

I don't understand this.. my stock ROM was:
Baseband Version: N7000XXLB2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLC1-CL1003701 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXLC1
I don't know what coutnry, I bought it from Netherlands, I live in Belgium, but it could be from any country in the region!
I cannot find this one exactly. I find many with N7000XXLB2 and many with N7000XXLC1.
Which one should I choose?
Also, can I install a JB or ICS directly?
Please let me know I'm doing it right (cause this is getting really insanely ridicilous):
1. I install PhilZ recovery mode via the phone recovery mode.
2. I install a stock ROM (I tried many) via Odin download mode.
All the time stuck as Galaxy N7000 logo. Never goes past it.
Every time I install a stock ROM it also removes the Philz recevory mode, but maybe that's ok..
Anything I'm doing wrong??
Why don't you follow my advice from second post and then show us a snapshot of PC Odin.
No need for Philz when installing a stock Rom with PC Odin (it's always deleted).
And tell us what Rom you install.

So I don't wipe anything and just go to download mode and install a PDA file of a STOCK ROM, that's it?
I tried that, but now I will be more specific (and in another guide they say to do some steps before, so its very confusing already).
I also asked above how do I know which ROM I should install?
and also, how do I get errors log? there were no errors when I was installing the PDA..

No going into recovery mode after restart this time and still same problem.
when you flash a stock rom with pc odin, the phone may not boot. If you have flashed a GB rom then when you are stuck at logo enter stock recovery with three button combo and then wipe data factory reset, wipe cache and then reboot.
I flashed a stock rom as explained above, not a GB. I tried wiping cache and all data through recovery. Nothing helps. You say it might not boot, so how do I make it boot with Stock ROM?
stock roms can be ginger bread (GB), or ICS or JB (jelly Bean)
flash a GB stock rom, wait for the proceedure to finish completely, when you see its not booting then use three buttons to get into stock recovery and then wipe then reboot

I've rooted my Galaxy Note with ClockworkMod recovery successfully and then busybox.
Then I went to recovery mode again (after restarting the phone), however it loaded Android regular recovery mode (not Clockwork), so I installed Clockwork again and without restarting performed WIPE DATA ...
....I am aware of the bricking bug of ICS, however I had the ClockworkMod installed, so what did I do wrong??
Thanks in advance!

By "ClockworkMod" you mean CWM.zip right? This is a temporary recovery that disappears upon reboot. It also LETHAL to wipe with when running on top of a stock ICS kernel.
So to sum up;-
You were running Stock ICS.
You flashed CWM.zip (from YouTube or where ever) from stock 3e recovery and then flashed Root/busybox file.
Booted back into stock recovery, flashed CWM.zip again and performed wipe data/factory reset with it.
How am I going so far?
Bad news - you have most likely superbricked your device.
If so,new MOBO or repartition is only way out now
it might be mess up.. try get 5files wif bootloader n place it accordingly in odin .

Yep, emmc bricked. Send it to servicecenter, they repaired it for free, for me. Or you can do the workaround http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886 , but i dont would do that, as you will get many freezes maybe. Thats very annoying.
