I NEED HELP!
I've recently updated GingerDX from v28 to v29 using CWM. Once updated, I rebooted and now I'm stuck at the 'Sony Ericsson' screen. Nothing happens. Tried everything, but now the phone doesn't go past that screen. I can't even boot with CWM to apply any restore (I did a backup before installing new version of Gdx).
Please, anyone could tell me what to do? How do you boot the phone with CWM after turning the phone on? Is there any way to go past the 'Sony Ericsson' screen? Will I need to fully restore my phone to its original OS or anything?
(and most important... is this 'hardbricking' the phone?)
Thanks in advance!
It's just softbrick. Use PC Companion or Flashtool to install stock ROM, then root, install recovery etc.
repeatedly tap the screen at boot to access CWM. If you can get into there try to reflash rom, full wipe etc.
If you cant get into CWM you have a soft brick and you need to repair with PCC - re-root - re-flash etc..
Thank you for responding so fast.
I've tried tapping repeteadly the screen when turning on, but doesn't seems to work ('Sony Ericsson' screen is not moving anywhere).
And also I've installed PC Companion to do a factory reset, but this won't work either because it's asking me to turn on USB storage to connect to the phone, and since I can't get past the 'Sony Ericcson' screen there's nothing I can do.
Any ideas? I'm starting to freak out a little bit.
Thank you again.
Turn off your phone (by taking out the battery). Open PCC. Open support zone. Choose Update phone. It will shoe you a window, select repair.
Here you have some screens, it's in czech but you should know where to click.
My bad. I wasn't entering 'Support Zone'. It's done, the phone is restored to its awful Eclair system.
Since I'm doing all the process again (rooting, then changing baseband, then CWM, then installing GDX)... I'd like to start clean. Is it safe to format the SD Card? Besides losing pictures and stuff, am I running any other risk?
That should do it. Thank you guys again! I was unhopeful for a moment!
(still... what a waste of time doing all this again... but hey, the price you pay for using roms)

It is safe to format your SD card. Just backup your photos, music etc. to PC and format it. Then copy your stuff back to SD card.
OK NOW I'M REALLY UPSET!!!
I've done it all again:
1) rooted phone with SuperOneClick v1.9.1
2) installed 'xrecovery mini 0.1 beta' (copying the 3 files inside the .zip on the system > bin folder)
3) changed baseband from 006 to 015 using FlashTool
4) installed 'clockworkmod 3.2.0.0 r3 x10 mini Amend' using xrecovery
5) finally installed 'ginger dx v0.29' using clockworkmod
Now the Sony Ericsson screen again. Again, nothing. The phone is not booting. What am I doing wrong? Is any of those steps wrong?
I think I should stick to Gdx v028... if works... now I'm confused.
be sure you have installed the right rom for stucks and addons.and read for the fix.
You are missing the most important part...full wipe/factory reset before installing
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
v029 is buggy for me after fullwipe too so try staying on 28 maybe or make sure the one you install is for your kernel
Sent from my crap using xda app
I think I found what might be the problem:
In the GingerDX thread there are 2 .zips available for download:
.one that says 'Alfs/nAa'
.and one that says 'stock'
I don't even know what 'Alfs' or 'nAa' are, but I believe this version isn't suitable for my phone... anyone can check this? So I downloaded the 'stock' version, now I'm gonna try with this one.
I don't know anything about kernels and stuff... I've always flashed the ROM only... and it worked fine. Now I'm reading all this notes about kernels and Alfs and I don't even know what they are... but I'm starting to believe this has something to do with my phone softbricking.

if you have locked bootloader you have to flash stock version of ROMS.:good:
try downloading and replacing the ROM
Solved!
I've installed the 'stock' version of the ROM (GingerDX v029) and now it's working fine.
What did you mean with locking bootloader?

Can s/o please point me in the right direction? I have a brand new Xperia TL. I followed the directions on the All-In-One Readme thread to root the phone, which came with locked bootloaders. Then I tried flashing the rom- [AOKP][JB] Xperia T - KangXperiaProject - [milestone 1].
Then the phone turned off, and when I turned it on all that happened was the Sony boot logo came up, then a fuzzy/staticky screen with random colors, then the phone shuts off, and then turns on again, and then the same thing. The battery isn't removable so I can't do a battery pull.
I managed to get the phone into Flash mode for Flashtool, tried flashing a kernel, but nothing happened. I tried all the different key combos to get into recovery, but no dice. I was actually lucky that once it remained stable long enough to flash a kernel, but usually when it's connected to the comp it won't stay on long enough to do much of anything. I also tried accessing the phone with an ADB shell, but that won't read the phone.
I also searched and searched and searched for possible solutions, but can't seem to find any posts (on XDA or otherwise) that deal with this specific set of issues.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated!!
You cannot flash custom rooms that are not stock based with a locked bootloader.
That is because you cannot flash custom kennels with a locked bootloader.
Flash a stock ftf with flashtool to fix your phone.
To do a virtual battery pull then press and hold the power button and volume up button until the phone vibrates
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?
Thanks for the info. I tried flashing a stock ftf (I think the LT30_7.0.A.3.195_kernel.ftf you provide in the readme thread), but then it just want back to bootlooping.
Is there a different one I should flash? Or is there something else I could do? Meanwhile, I'll try flashing again when I get home today.

I flashed the ftf again- the phone still bootloops, but sometimes it show an image of a phone and the triangle with the ! in the middle- which I know is Download Mode on my old phone (Samsung Captivate). Is this what's supposed to happen? If yes, what's the next step? If not, what else can I do?
Thanks so much gregbradley!

TL version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33744425&postcount=56
Thank you gregbradley and hkjr.
I was having trouble flashing an ftf b/c the phone kept shutting off in the middle of a flash. What I did was flash (the T version) piece-meal; I checked "Exclude" for all the components except the 1st, flashed, then checked "Exclude" for all except the 2nd, flashed, etc., and IT WORKED!!
Then I flashed the TL version ftf, rooted it, and all was good. Now it was time to flash a custom rom. I flashed recoba23's Xperia Curiosity V1.2 Rom (for locked bootloaders). That worked. Then I wanted to take a look at TiMiN8R's XperimenT rom. The phone told me that the file finished downloading. I thought it was a little smaller than indicated on the download page, but the phone said the download was complete. Flashed it. Then BRICK. Dunno if it's because the full file didn't download, but now ALL I get is the Sony splash screen (no bootloop, just stays like that). I can't get into recovery and I can't get the phone into flash mode, although the computer does recognize it when I plug it in and I can access the files on the phone.
Any ideas what's going on??
same problem please help =(
I too have the same problem, stuck at "SONY" screen can't go to recovery mode, can't connect to pc, i did the power+up volume button, turns off but if i turn it on same result stuck at sony... I followed this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020796 for locked bootloader, i have the att xperia TL.
I flashed the generic 7.0.A.1.303 ftf
Rooted using Bin4ry's method
Install CMW for locked bootloaders
Enter recovery, factory reset and flash the ROM(STOCK ROOTED 7.0.A.3.195)
and when im going to flash the flashable CMW, i cant find it in my ext sd.. i put it with stock rooted 7.0.A.3.195.zip and superuser.zip, it says "file not found" on recovery after i flashed the stock 7.0.A.3.195.zip so i decided to reboot.. and this happened. Is there a fix to this please help us :crying:
OK, I got my phone back up and running! For me, it just seemed to be a matter of playing around with the buttons and the plugging/unplugging the phone from the computer and/or charging it, and eventually it went into flash mode. I was able to flash stock kernel, root and apply CWM, then made sure that I downloaded the whole file for whichever ROM I wanted, flashed it, and all was good!
fatedcircle9, just try playing around with it. If you can't flash the new CWM from recovery right after you install the ROM, just reboot the phone, attach it to the computer, and install CWM like you did before. At least that's what worked for me....
Hi everybody,
sorry for posting this outside the mini 2 forum, but appearently that's a developers reserved forum, so I had no rights to post there.
I would like to ask what is the latest stable custom rom developed for mini2, where to find it and possibly an instruction page.
I had good experience with CM on another galaxy before, so I checked on the the CM website first but mini 2 is not listed there
On the other end I saw a long post on the mini2 developers forum saying that CM10 was actually created, but the post is 91 pages long(!), so forgive me if I didn't read it all. Is it working?
I also checked if there was something like an "in evidence" post with instructions for newbies but couldn't see any, maybe I missed it.
Can someone point me to the right page?
thank you for your held

ok, now I'm starting to panic.
why does nobody answer, am I doing something wrong with this post?
I reinstalled the stock rom. I first tried using CWM recovery and selecting install zip file from sd card, but it didn't work: it told me BAD regarding the zip file (downloaded from sammobile), then I succeded using odin. by the way which is the correct method?
However it now seems to start, but I get in loops messages from the setupwizard that says the guided configuration has crashed and also from gapps that Google service Framework has crashed (but should gapps be wiped by the rom flash???).
the problem is that the first of the two keeps restarting and crashing so the phone doesn't do anything else then showing this messages.
please help

After you flash Stock ROM via Odin. Remove battery, put it back. Boot into stock recovery - clear user data & cache and reboot. If the same error occurs try deleting /Android directory(old cache) in your sd card.
thank you for your reply, unfortunately it didn't help.
what do you mean by "stock recovery"? the recovery I see, I believe is CWM which I installed before, but I'm not sure.
anyhow from there I wiped user&cache but I had tried this before and removing teh battery didn't make a difference.
I do not have any /Android directory on my SD card.
it's a simple 4GB fat 32 partition with a single file in it (the zip with stock rom I tried to flash before using odin) and nothing else.
by the way, I used odin3 v.1.83 to flash and I selected the file using PDA button,
but I also have "bootloader", "phone" and "csc" options.
what is the difference?
everything I do makes it more dramatic!
I tried reapeating the whole procedure once again, and odin crashed while flashing teh rom. now it doesn't even boot in download mode, it simply asys to connect kies in recovery mode. but kies never saw my phone in spite of driveres reinstallation, and it is of course not seeing it now!!

you should terminate kies before using odin. You can kill it in task manager, because kies intereferes with ODIN.
You should'nt be concerned with bootloader and the other options. As long as ur downloaded stock has tar.md5 extension you just place it in the PDA section and select Auto reboot and F. Reset time only.
Also You should only disconnect when it says PASS otherwise u will brick ur phone.
When u success fully flash ur stock rom, the chance is it will not get to homescreen
So u remove battery, reinsert it, press and hold HOME button together with POWER button, the phone boots into stock recovery, you choose wipe data and cache, then reboot. (chemicalrage explained this)
If it ain't booting into download mode u should go to service centre.
PS: My advice is to stay away from custom roms until samsung releases jelly bean for mini 2, then better custom roms will be released.
Hello friends.
Now I am with 2.2 cyanogen mod. I wanted to install FroyoBread.v23b so I put this folder into sd card and with oldest one xrecovery I tried to install it but it showed some error. So I decided to install other xrecovery "Bin4ry & Androxyde" OS Version 6.1. but after that I even cannot open xrecovery and when the phone loads up it starts to force closing everything so I cannot do anything.
Any ideas what to do? Please I really need a phone :/
...
Use PC Companion to restore the state of the factory and redo everything from scratch.
Use x8toolbox & get CWM & flash froyobread

use PC Campanion (the best way) to repair your phone its super clean and clutter free!
original latest 2.1.1 by Sony officially
or
Use flash tool (The fast Way) to repair your phone really quick and need to search
for the firmware of the original 2.1.1 and flash it by using flash tool
you can find the firmware in Gogeta's Signature, download it.
if u want to roll back your phone into 2.1 download this ftf file
or x8toolbox
and do clean flashing on kernel and ROM
dont forget to factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, and wipe batery stats
if u want install cwm use search button..n u will find topic about installing CWM
In both situations I get stuck in the same situation when I need to unplug the device, turn it off and while holding back button plug the usb cable again. Then nothing happens, phone starts as usual and starts showing many "force close" errors

Hi,
first of all, follow this tut to go back to clean 2.1 eclair.
Now you know what to do, root, xrecovery etc...
Reboot to xrecovery and FULL WIPE before installing the rom.
No more forse closing :good:
If it didn't work, try to full wipe after the installation(on xrecovery).
Be pleased. I get my phone recovered. Thanks a lot!!! It's now again 2.1. So now I know how to recover it, but just say your opinion - Basically what I need is not so stupid x8 blue color and function which allows to move apps to sd card. Is it worth to write some higher ROM again?

Try what i wrote above.
Now that you know how to recover your phone from softbrick you have nothing to fear, except from hard brick ( this may happen while trying to unlock the bootloader)
Why I am saying that is because now, with original stock rom it works very fast without lagging compared with cyanogenmod 2.2 version which I had before. So Just few more questions - Its just your opinion, I know that there are so many Roms but for you which one is the fastest one and the most stable?
And maybe it's possible to install this Rom with same flashtool?

I can suggest you cm7 roms as they are smooth, bugfree and may have all the features you are looking for.
In order to install a rom on xperia x8 you need cwm or xrecovery(in most cases cwm), and this depends on the rom you are trying to install. To deside what recovery to use just read the installation instructions at the rom thread. So no, you can't install a rom with flashtool.
Everything is clear. Thanks a lot
Hello everyone. First of all 2 days ago i rooted my phone to be able to use LINK2SD app.
So i started deleting stock apps that i didn't use at all. All working fine on my x8 since i deleted gtalk (I know i am idiot),
and i starting getting this error message: ''The process com.google.process.gaps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again''.
After that i realize that i cant download anything from market.
I 've formated my SD card's partitions hoping to change something after factory reset but nothing happened. I dont have xrecovery or rom manager.
I am running 2.1-update1 firmare
Baseband version: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015,
Kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build number: 2.1.1.A.0.6
I search the net for solutions and some people with the same problem with me have found a solution from PcCompanion or
Sony Ericsson Update but in my case, when i am trying to repair my firmware i have a strange issue.
When my phone is turned off and i hold the "back" button while inserting the USB cable from my PC says: "found new SEMCU"
(or something like that, i dont remember exactly) and my pc freezes after 10 seconds and i can't do anything.
I have to manually reboot it from the shut down button. So I can't update it.
I already tried to reinstall these 2 programms PcC & SEU and the same problem exist.
I also tried to boot to safe mode with connection and do the process again but the same story happends.
I have already read this thread where the thread-starter,
found his solution: ''oh nvm i fixed it, installed rom manager and a few other apks through adb install, and through terminal emulator flashed clockwork, then flashed stock ROM
thanks for all your help!'' but i can't understand what i must do and and i won't do any more damage to my phone.
Sorry if my english is bad.
Can anyone help me please??? I 'm stuck..:crying::crying:

I closed my phone (took the battery out) and then pressed power-soundUp-button for recovery, and reached the recovery. I restored from a backup I had on my external card. If you don't have a backup, you can put stock rom on your external card (directly from your PC with a card reader dongle) and flash it.
The other option is to install a stock rom by downloading it to your phone through the computer with Odin. That means that you download Odin and stock rom. To do this you still need to take the battery out (to close the phone), put it back in, and then press power-soundDown-button to download (the difference here is sound-DOWN). Then work according to the tutorials about using Odin (don't forget to open the file as admin!).
Good luck!

Are you trying to do a factory reset/wipe data via stock recovery?
I think I have done this, yes. Do you think this was the reason for the bootloop?
However, I've now succsefully flashed Slimkat, it looks promising.
I hope I won't have to turn back to GB or JB in the future.
