When i flash the stock rom using odin, the stock recovery works. but then, when i update the CWM to any version, the recovery stops working.
It stops on the samsung galaxy ace screen which is the 2nd screen, with a small yellow dot on top left. i am not able to flash any rom. i have even tried using d CWM app, but it stops at d same screen.
pls help.
Note: the download mode and the stock rom works perfectly.

Any solutions to this problem guys!!!

Check that cwm you are using is for galaxy ace.
If is for ace still not working then Try latest CWM version..

This problem is caused by updating recovery to 6.0 by Shaan.
Noticed that this problem is not just for me. It's widespread now. Next try would be to flash recovery gamma tar from odin.

i tried flashing recovery gamma tar using odin, but again the same problem.
it flashed perfectly using odin but on trying to go d recovery mode, it gets stuck on d galaxy ace screen.
i think my phone's recovery files have been corrupted.
Is there any way in which i can add a new recovery file or something like that??

Heyyyy Rishal try the cwm-recovery-ace.tar.md5 file from this thread. Flash from odin

Tried.. But still no result.. Same problem..

Flashing through odin deletes every single file on your phone. So there is no chance that CWM 6 causes this. Also i don't think the problem is widespread!
If you can get me a logcat and dmesg i might be able to help..

Sorry if my post ever offended you. It's just because the whole issue started after flashing cwm6. Im glad you are happy to help. During which process do i need to get a logcat? While booting into recovery?(haven't tried getting a logcat of a boot process before)

Yes. Flash the recovery. Boot to recovery and grab a logcat as well as a dmesg.
Pastebin both. And don't worry. I don't get offended easily!

Hey Rishal flash stock recovery from this thread
And bring the zip for cwm 6 tomorrow.PLS

i flashed CWM 5 using odin, but that also gave the same problem.
Is there any stock recovery that i can flash using "odin"?
Aditya: u gave d link of stock recovery which has to be flashed using other recovery modes, which is not possible in my case as the other recovery modes r not working.

Its not possible to delete files directly inside a .tar file.
i have to extract the recovery.img and then change it to .tar file.
i flashed that file using odin but it stopped suddenly giving me a yellow triangle error because of which i had to reflash again.
now i have the stock recovery working again.

I am facing a similar issue. Please do post your solution here if anything at all works

That wasn't the right way to do it. Download total commander and then remove other files from stock rom.tar file WITHOUT EXTRACTING. Did u renamed the recovery.img to recovery.tar and then flashed as one file in Odin???
Another way is to push recovery.img through adb.

Could you please elaborate the problem you face and how it all started in the first place?
Since we were facing constant reboot into recovery problem, we flashed stock Rom entirely through Odin to get back stock recovery. However flashing any version of cwm would make the problem resurface. The only cwm recovery that works is cwm6 by shaan. Confused why??

Since the CWM 6 by shaan is working, i tried to install a zip through it. the zip was successfully.
but on switching on the phone, it gets stuck on cynogenmod screen(not the samsung screen)
The reason is that i cannot wipe data/cache.
on doing a factory reset, the log is something like:
Error mounting /data!
Skipping format...
Error mounting /cache!
Skipping format...
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs fa(the next thing is out of the screen) ...block/mmcblk0p2
formatting /sdcard/ .android_secure (something-something)
Data wipe complete
So this means that there is some problem with the cache, data mounting..
I also tried to mount cache and data using mounts and storage but it shows cannot mount cache and data respectively.
P.S.: Every time i get into recovery or flash something an error like this comes at the bottom:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log...(can't see the next part)
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log...(can't see the next part)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/las...(can't see the next part)
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/las...(can't see the next part)
So there is some recovery file in the /cache folder which is causing some problem
(recovery working is a progress. thanks adityabhagat95.)

My phone was running 2.2.1 Froyo. I tried to upgrade it to 2.3.6 using process mentioned here. http://androidadvices.com/update-galaxy-ace-s5830-official-gingerbread-236-xwktm-firmware/
The Odin completed successfully and restarted the phone. But the phone was running spanish language. I was getting an alert after every 3-4 seconds. But i could not read it as it was spanish. I restarted the phone and it went in boot loop. The phone keeps rebooting every 2 seconds.
I can't get into recovery mode but I can get to download mode.
I have tried flashing many ROMs from sammobile.com but none of them is working.

Is reboot into recovery working? If yes (don't tell me the problem is solved), in recovery format cache and data thru mount and storage option. (Maybe the data and cache partition are still using rfs. ) tell me if it works!

Flashing a STOCK Rom from Odin must not cause a bootloop. Reflash the stock Rom from recovery (again )and then reboot into STOCK recovery to wipe data ( factory reset or whatever its addressed as).

Yes I can reboot into recovery, but I dont think the problem is solved or else the other recoveries would also work (its just a progress)
I tried to format data, cache, system but all of them failed as it was unable to "mount" the respective folders.
I did not try d format sd-ext, as I thought it was not required...
There is surely some problem with d cache, data or system files...

[Q] GT-I9000M Root Fail? Rescue advice please!

Hello All,
Here's another newbie sinking in quicksand........
I was attempting to root my GT-I9000M (2.3.3) and got into a boot loop situation (alternately displaying GT-I9000M and GT-I9000). I have tried a wide variety of rescue and restore packages, but without success. I am able to get into REBOOT and DOWNLAD mode and install via Odin, but it still goes into a boot loop (or shuts down after flash). Boot errors are appearing (not flash errors) but I won`t go into details here. I have read many threads and made many attempts at different strategies. The bottom line is that the phone won`t boot.
Given these circumstances (failed root, reboot errors), what is the best plan of attack? I don`t expect anyone to solve this directly. If anyone can give me a push in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gord

Yes. I said reboot instead of recovery above. The error says ``E:failed to mount sdcard (File exists)`` and ``... your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions`` ``Media files copy failed.``
Does this make any sense?
you can try to flash cwm via odin and flash a custom rom in cwm that should be the easy'st method

Hi I have a similar problem although mine is due to stupidity please advise if you want this moved to another thread or to start my own thread.
Chris
I have put the Semaphore ICS 1.2.6 on via Odin.
I can get into the recovery area, (home + vol up + pwr) wipe partition, factory reset, reboot through Semaphore CWM Recovery v5.02.7
It freezes on the "Galaxy S GT-I9000" boot screen.
If I "failed" (big time) to get root access BEFORE I have done this, is the phone hard bricked? Or can I still recover this?
I have tried everything in this thread and a lot of things from several other threads.

Use odin to install the rom. Install odin on your PC. Press Power+volume down + home button to get into download mode and connect the phone to your PC and start Odin. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573392 for the related files and rom. Then later you can install any ROM that you want.

[PARTIALLY-SOLVED] Galaxy Ace S5830 - Can't boot into cwm recovery

Dear Community, greetings.
I have a problem as wrote in the title: I can't boot into cwm recovery. I am gonna try to summarize the main points that lead me here.
Assumption
I used to install custom ROMS flawlessy, following always the instruction etc...
Last rom I've installed was CM7.2 Apocalypse, Project Silk and Link2SD
I needed to restore stock rom
I searched with Google and came across the following solutions
I searched on XDA and came across the following solutions
What I have done...
I flashed using odin 4.38 -> GB 2.3.6 2012 October 2.3.6 S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 downloaded from sammobile.com
I rooted the phone with upd_1.zip (that is attached to this thread)
I tried to install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
...and trying to boot into recovery pushing POWER BT + HOME BT the phone stucks on the screen with "Galaxy GT-S5830" and the top-left corner was green
What I have done #2
I tried to use S5830XXKA6 but I dind't neither managed to boot properly (wiped data/factory and cache)
Tried to flash CWM directly with Odin using "One Package"
Could you kindly help me out?:fingers-crossed: I am also willing to give you further information as you ask.
Thanks everyone for your time.:good:
F.
---- PARTIAL FIX by myself ----
1. Format the sdcard in linux with GParted (you need to install android-tools-adb, android-tools-fastboot)
2. Flashed stock firmware S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 with ODIN Multidownloader 4.38 (downloadeble from www.sammobile.com under ITALY)
3. Rooted with upd_1.apk and updated with Superuser 3.0 (attached)
4. Installed CWM 6.0.1.4
5. Restore an old backup of mine.
6. Rejoice
But your Phone is still working right ?
I mean you are able to use ur stock firmware ryt ?

First of all, thank you very much for the reply. Then, the answer is yes and no. I flashed several firmwares. Some of them did work, others don't. Right now I managed to use the one I've mentioned before and
S5830XWKT7_S5830ITVKT1_ITV
S5830XWKP6_XWKPN
but trying S5830_XXKA6 it goes in bootloop also wiping data and cache.
Further information:
I noticed a problem with CSC. While booting in standard recovery an error message appeared saying something like "can't open /system/csc/XEU/system", so I've created the whole directory path and put the files that were in /system/csc inside. This issue is fixed. I am going to investigate and let you know if with other firmware I listed above I get the same behaviour.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium HD app
Try flashing this:
CWM 5.0.2.6. FIX
When your system reboot, wait until Android boot again, install TERMINAL EMULATOR's app and type this commands:
Code:
su
reboot recovery
After you've done it, your device'll reboot into recovery mode automatically

[Q] P7320 trouble

Hi
I have a p7320 which I am trying to install a custom ROM to, and I am having some trouble.
I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569122
1: flashed cwd through odin
2: flashed superuser through cwm
All fine until now
3: then I flashed the kernel from the same site through cwm
4: bootloop
I didnt take backup, so I couldnt nandroid back
I couldnt turn the device on, so I couldnt transfer another kernel
There were no "mount USB" in cwm so I couldnt transfer the files there either.
I was able to go into download mode, and I flashed the only stock rom I could find in .tar (flashable through odin)
from here: http://androidromupdate.com/2012/12/12/u-s-att-samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-lte-sgh-i957-android-4-0-4-ice-cream-sandwich-update-finally-arrives/
flashing went fine and the tab booted.
Now I went back and flashed cwm again through odin, but when I was going to place superuser and the new rom on the sdcard.... there is no room on the tab.
In explorer it says : 0 byte available out of 26.9MB
This tab is 16GB.... what happened?
I cant transfer files to it, so the only thing I can flash is the .tar files through odin.
please help

Hmmm, this is usually a sdcard mount thing
so maybe all you have to do is reboot to CWM do a format /sdcard from mount and unmount section in CWM
then reboot to system and see if the problem still there

Hi
There is no such thing as format/sdcard in that section.
Only format/cache, format/data and format/system

this probably means that your CWM version is old [5.5.0.4 I guess]
I don't know if your tab has a newer CWM cuz my tab is p7300,
so try to find a newer one or even try TWRP instead, cuz it also has sdcard format function
one little thing, you said your tab is P7320 and yet you have installed a SGH-I957 ROM {read it from your link}
I honestly don't know the deference between the two devices
what I'm trying to say is: maybe the problem is because you're using a ROM for a different device
so maybe you should try THIS [the latest ICS Odin tar samsung framework for P7320]
I have a p7320 and I am using this ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554877
Fast, no bloatware, no freezing.
I followed the instructions no problems. My recovery UI has an option partition SD card under advanced. Dont know if that will help you.

Hi
I was able to download another .tar full stock rom which I flashed with odin.
Worked out fine, and the memory of the SD card is back.
However... I once again flashed cwm and superuser, then i tried the rom you are linking to but the tab wont boot with it
Its just stuck with a black screen after the logo.
Now I have reflashed the stock rom with working sd card
Sorry about that. I remember I had a black screen for a few minutes but eventually it booted. The developer also pointed out boot animations are missing

Hi,
I'm the developer working on the CM10 ROM for the P7320 - yes, the first boot might take a while, and it doesn't show a boot animation, so it might look like it's crashed. But I have tested going from the stock ICS image to my ROM a few times and it seems to work fine, eventually. Perhaps you could give it another go and see?
Cheers.

Hi
I will definetely give it another go this evening
Can i flash superuser, your rom and gapps in one go? Or do I have to boot it in between?
thank you for your answer
The ROM should have super user already, so you shouldn't need that. You can do the ROM and gapps together.
I tried again, and this time it worked like a charm!
Thank you!

What am I doing wrong. My device starts to cyanogenmod boot animation but not further.
Do I have to do the dalvik wipe and cache wipe?
I think i have tried everything. It's been rolling boot animation about 30 minutes now.
Sorry about my bad language.
And thank you for your answers.
I dont have a solution. Is this the first time you use this ROM? One time I wanted to revert to stock to check something and I got an everlasting Samsung animation until I did a factory reset from recovery. Did you try factory reset?

these not first time to change change cm 10.1 or return to stock i do this things before many time but this the first time appear this problem
Only solution is to replace the mothercard because it is a hardware problem not a software
