[SDE] Help - [USB] Help - Gen9 Android Development

Hi all,
I have a problem with my Archos 80 G9 8go flash.
In Recovery mode, I can plug it on my computer and my computer recognize my Archos as a removable device so I can install firmware, format, repair, etc
Out of recovery mode, when Android running, when I plug my Archos to my computer, my computer say error message when trying to install USB driver of the Archos. So I dont have Removable device in my Drives letters, I have nothing.
If I go to control panel, in peripherals manager, I can see an unknown device called : ARCHOS
How can I do, because I can't install SDE without ADB and USB connectivity.
Or maybe there's another way to install SDE ??
Thanks for helping me.

hi try connecting your pc to your archos (verified that the tablet usb debugging and well, the options developers) uninstalling all the drivers related to the archos, unplug the usb archos restart the pc install the drivers archos site without plugging the tablet, once the installation is finished plug the usb to archos and it should work. sorry for my english, and do not forget to tell me it it worked. good luck

What version of windows are you running? windows xp or 7 ?

I have windows 7 64bits.
I guess I don't need drivers. I and by the way I don't find on Archos website the usb drivers.

To use ADB you'll need some drivers... how about this:

can we use it as usb mass storage?

Was wondering is there a way to use our galaxy as a universal usb mass storage device, using default windows drivers?
I've tried it but I can't seem to connect my phone to the pc unless I install either the usb drivers (extracted from Kies) or install kies itself.
In ubuntu can just hook this up no problem why in windows doesn't it work? or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great.
thanks.
Wich part of Android Development Forum you dont understand?
why don't you can suggest me one or point me in the right direction or notify a mod instead of posting something that's not helpful and insulting?
and indicate why this would not go in development? yeah it can be in general but why can't it be in here explain the reason. This can be the initiation of someone developing a hack to allow to use our device in windows without INSTALLING the samsung drivers?
You don't need to install any samsung anything.
Settings -> About Phone -> USB Settings: Ensure "Ask on connection" is selected.
Plug in USB cable, connect to PC.
Select "Mass storage" on the menu. Your device is now connected and charging, but you don't have access to the data yet.
Now drag down the notification bar from the top of the screen. It says "Ongoing: USB connected. Select to copy files to/from your computer". Press that. Press "Mount".
Your Internal SD and external SD now mount on your PC and appear as drives.
gl
Edit: If that doesn't work for you then there's something wrong. I haven't installed Kies on any machine I've connected the SGS to. It may be that you require Admin rights to install the usb drivers that are sent over as the device attempts to mount (not sure).
hmm that's weird. My machine says it doesn't recognize it when I do that. And all the machines I use I have to install the drivers for it to work even though I always use "use as mass storage"
hmmm I better do more investigation then.....
just tried this on a winxp machine without any driver/kies installed and yeah can't get to the sd card. It has an exclaimation mark next to the Usb mass storage device in device manager and there an "unknown" device detected in the "other devices" section of device manager....
Try the always ask option. Sometimes the use mass storage as default choice is a tad cranky.
If not, try on another usb port with another microusb cable. I've tried on 3 pcs/laptops and all 3 times no drivers were needed.
You also have to pull down the notifcation menu of the phone (once connected) and click the usb symbol and then choose "mount" (yeah, kinda sucks)

the drive that it installs when you connect your device to your PC with selecting USB Mass Storage is a normal USB driver, like when you plug in a normal memory stick...
Check your usb port or cable and try other ones
Or install Kies then uninstall it.
It will leave the Samsung USB drivers installed as they are in a seperate folder.
really weird could it be a winxp problem?
At work usb mass storage doesn't work UNTIL I install the samsung drivers. At home tested on a win 7 machine without installing any drivers and it works.
Would front usb port be different to teh back usb port? It's just that front usb port doesn't work if I don't install drivers, after install drivers works fine.
hmm I should test the back usb port. It's pissing me off how I can't use usb mass storage at work until I install the drivers (or would it be a windows update issue how windows don't have latest usb drivers?)

both win7 and xp require to install that usb driver unless you've plugged it in before... you definitely don't have to install the samsung drivers before you use the Mass storage function as my office computer (XP) is not allowed to install any other driver/software apart from normal USB mass storage driver in which it's pre-installed in your PC when you install the OS...

[Q] Windows 7 x64 drivers - USB problem

Hi!
I just updated my Windows to Windows 7 x64, and I can't connect my X8 to PC - he is detectable, but can't use flashtool, USB (to copy files) etc.
I installed Gordon's Gate, PC Companion (he don't detect that is X8 - I have GDX installed).
Have I to back to 2.1, and then install this drivers for PC Companion? or what? I would like to test nobodyAtall's MiniCM and kernel. I also downloaded X8 ADB drivers but can't install it in device manager.
Thanks for help.
No, you don't have to go back to Stock 2.1.1.
PC Companion does have x64 and x86 drivers included - the only problem you may face is that PC Companion won't love custom ROMs on the X8 (i.e. if you have one of the PCC versions where "Repair" still works it will refuse to restore your device -> "No updates available"). The same seems to go for Gordon's Gate ... there are x86 and x64 (aka "amd64") drivers included.
I successfully used the drivers from PCC as well as Flashtool (v0.2.9.1 - 0.5.x.x fails to recognize the phone no matter what I do) with my X8 (Edit: on Windows 7 x64 Professional) - and since PCC had already put the Android drivers into the set of Windows drivers there wasn't a problem in installing the Flash/ADB driver.
The question at hand would rather be: since you switch from Windows 7 (32-Bit) to its x64 counterpart ... did you install all of your chipset drivers - especially the USB drivers (valid for Intel and AMD based systems)?

I switched from Windows XP x86 (also have Win 7 professional), and after that only my phone memory storage doesn't work. All USB ports is working, but I'm not sure about this AMD driver? Where can I get it?
Yup, there is 'amd64' driver, but how to install it manually? X8 is detectable for Windows, so it is not showing in device manager. I install PC Companion first, but it wasn't work, then downloaded flashtool (0.2.9.1), installed GG and tried to install this included drivers, but don't know how.

The chipset drivers for your motherboard are most likely for download on the website of the manufacturer ...
For Intel based systems you're looking for the "Intel Inf Driver Utility" (or something along that line) for Windows 7 x64
For AMD based systems you're looking for the USB drivers package (for Windows 7 x64).
If you don't have a clue it might help if you could name the Manufacturer of your motherboard (i.e.: Gigabyte), the exact type of your motherboard (i.e.: GA-870A-UD3) and CPU type (i.e.: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T) so I/we can try to look it up for you.

Well, back in the days I installed PC Companion - which also spilled the drivers into Windows - and only updated it since then whenever it nagged about "New version of PC Companion available" ... though I never spotted it installing a newer set of drivers.
Anyway ...
If you attach your X8 to your computer with "USB-Debugging" disabled then Windows should show you a mass storage device in "Computer".
If you attach your X8 to your computer with "USB-Debugging" enabled then Windows will install the ADB bridge driver (upon first connect) so adb is able to communicate with your device.
If you attach your X8 in "Flash mode" (phone turned off, back button pressed) to your computer because it's stuck in a boot-loop Windows will install the Flash driver (upon first connect) so Flashtool is able to flash the device.
All, of course, by best using the genuine USB cable that came with your phone.
Additionally you could try this ...
Enable "USB-Debugging" (Settings -> Applications -> Development) and connect your device to the computer. Start Flashtool and select "Check drivers" from the menu ... what result do you get?
EDIT: Additionally, what version of Flashtool do you use and to where (C:\<path\to\flashtool>) did you install/put Flashtool?

That's exactly what should happen ... if you tap the button to connect in USB mass storage mode the SD card will be unmounted from Android - and a few seconds later it should show up as a new drive in START ORB -> "Computer".
As for the Flashtool output - seems the drivers are installed and found to be OK by Flashtool.

Oh my god ... a Hewlett Packard box ...
Well, in this case you need to go to www.hp.com and search for the exact Model/Type of your rig - there should be a "Support" or "Drivers" section where you can download the drivers from HP for your particular system.
I only found a page with Motherboard Specifications relating to some HP z552.se Digital Entertainment Center box. If that's what you have standing right in front of you ... Download Drivers page - just select "Windows 7 (64-bit)" from the drop-down (though ... LOOOL HP ... there's just a Lightscribe update; no drivers or whatever else).
If it's not your system ... please search for the right one.
Edit: Going with the Motherboard Specifications from the HP page about the MSI MS-7225 ...
--> Chipset: GeForce 6150 LE chipset
Go to: http://www.geforce.com/Drivers
Set the pull-down to reflect this:
GeForce
GeForce 6 Series
GeForce 6150 LE
Windows 7 (64-bit)
<select your language>
Click "Start Search"
For "Polski" here's the direct download link (International drivers suitable for various languages):
http://pl.download.nvidia.com/Windo...op-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe
--> Onboard audio: ALC883 or ALC888 CODEC
Go to: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Download "Vista, Windows7 Driver (32/64bits) Driver only (Executable file)" from one the six mirrors (I guess "UK" could be appropriate for you as it's no too overly far away from PL)
--> Onboard LAN: 10/100 Marvell 88EC031
This driver seems only to be available through Windows Update.
Since HP fails to mention what Nvidia MCP the board is using I'm unable to tell if there are vendor specific USB drivers or not.

[SOLVED] Windows 7 can't recognize Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070

Hi everybody,
I have a 64-bit PC with Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 and a Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070 with Android 4.1.2.
I can't install a driver in order to make Windows recognize correctly the phone when I connect it via USB cable.
I've installed and uninstalled Samsung Kies many times with no results. I've also tried some Samsung driver from Windows Update with no success...
When I connect the phone, it is recognized as a MTP Device and the driver installation starts, but always ends with an error, as shown in the attached screen-shot image.
What can I do?
Thank you very very much.
Note: in another PC with WinXP I have no problems.
Firstly make sure phone can run MTP (make sure if you delete MTP releated stuff in system you won't able connect it. Re-flash with Odin) Now if you don't have problem with phone then uninstall drivers & KIES from Windows. Don't just do a uninstall clear temp files, dll files, registry entries (you can use CCleaner) then install THIS DRIVERS.

Hello, thank you for your answer.
How can I make sure my phone can run MTP?
For the complete uninstall, is it enough to run CCleaner, uninstall Kies and then perform the Registry Cleaner in CCleaner?
Thank you

Did you root phone ? or installed a ROM or you just using it stock ?
I noticed something too; if you any have PIN or Password you have to unlock phone otherwise MTP not works. Unlock it and try too.
CCleaner will *probably* be enough but if you want to make sure go to regedit.exe and go to;
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/
Then delete KIES & USB Driver stuff (don't delete system USB configs & drivers just Samsung's softwares )
EDIT: In start menu click to RUN (or whatever I don't now it's name in English, you're entering a text) Then write
Code:
%AppData%
Then delete KIES & Samsung folders and files.
I've just Updated the phone firmware from Android 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 with Samsung Kies on my WinXP PC.
I've deleted all Samsung Kies registry entries.
Now I'm going to install the driver you suggested...

This may be a bit silly but is important to ask.
Was your PC connected connected to the internet while installing the drivers??
Did you unplug your phone while the drivers were being installed??

I've just tried to reboot the phone before connecting it to the PC, but I get the same error (see attachments).
Last year I managed to connect the phone to this PC, but, in any case the connection got interrupted after a while (see this thread).
I don't know what to do...
I had the same problem when i formatted my PC 2 days ago. I did some trial and error and it worked.
1. Dont use any USB Hub if you are using.
2. Remove the Pattern lock or any password security etc. Go to lock screen and select 'None'. (I dont know why but windows doesn't recognise if the device is locked)
3. Have Kies installed. Even new version worked for me. I used 2.5.13043_14
4.Connect your device with the USB cable (Should have MTP option selected which is by default)
5. Windows automatically recognises now and installs the necessary files.
P.S:- Remove the security pattern, etc. It really works.
If worked then pls reply.
Hello,
I've disable any screen lock on my phone and I've connected the USB cable to another USB port (a 3.0 USB port) and Windows magically recognized correctly the device! (no Kies installed, only drivers)
Anyway, after some minutes of usage (cut-paste of files). Windows stopped recognizing the device...
If I disconnect the phone and then connect it back, Windows still recognizes it, but I have few minutes until the device stops being recognized and no file on it can be read...
See attached pictures

This is how my PC recognizes my phone. The driver seems to be old, but I've configured Windows for downloading drivers automatically and that is all it can do.
Today, th PC did not recognized the phone at once. Then I unmounted and mounted back the MicroSD card and the PC recognized it.
But, after few seconds of folder browsing, the PC lost the connection. I'm thinking that the problem is the SD card.
Solved!
Solved!
It was the USB cable.
I replaced it with an original one and now it works.
Thank you everybody for your effort!

Need help with MTP and C5303 Driver!~

Hey guys,
Recently i purchased a chinese tablet called "Onda V811 Quad Core". i used that usb cable to charge and also access the PC to send files to tablet. It was too slow so i used my Xperia SP 5303 usb cable.
After that, i charged the tablet as well with the Xperia SP 5303 usb cable and adapter. It worked.
The problem: When i plugged my Xperia SP usb cable into my computer and connect it to my XSP 5303 phone, icould not install the drivers for some reason. I already installed all the drivers and could access the SD card on my PC before.
But now every time i plug in my XSP usb cable into my XSP, i cant install the drivers since it says it fails to instal BOTH MTP Driver, and Xperia SP 5303 Driver, making me cannot access SD Card. =(
Is it because of my chinese tablet that i plugged it once in it? or is it my phone?
I have tried everything, turned USB debugging on and everything but nothing works.... also tried to install ADB drivers... that didn't work as well....
I'm on Android 4.3.
It charges my phone, but can't install drivers which means i can't get to SD Card on computer.
Does that mean i can never get to my SD Card ever again?
Please help guys =( ~
Thank you!~
Go to your Xperia SP: Settings > Xperia > USB Connection > MTP and check PC companion installation on. If that doesnt work you can also try it with MSC mode.
If both options dont work you need to remove all the sony drivers installed (perhaps also from your tablet), reboot pc and try again.
ok thankyou, i will try that when i get home because i have school now. i will tell you the results later. thanks for replying.

Wow, thank you very much!,t hat did the work, now i just need to know how to get MTP drivers to install so i can access my internal memory card as well, so i can put /obb files in there for games .
Could you possibly help me out with that one as well?, that would be nice of you ^^
Reconnect your phone into MTP mode should do the trick (windows does recognise the drivers by itself and will install when missing)
I tried that and it just gives me the error that i can't install the driver etc.
error, can't install.
What error? Device gave problems or crashed?
The only error it gives me is that my driver (MTP) is unsuccessful in installing.
What os do you use?
Sent from my C5303 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I use windows 7 4-bit
Hmm weird very very weird. Could you check all the installed components in you PC (Start > My PC > Device managment)? And while you do so connect your phone in MSC...
Here you go, that's all the drivers i have for the USB drivers.
I attached below a picture.
The one with the Triangle icon int he picture is the one with the MTP where i can't install the driver. Thanks
Hi,
I am also trying to install the MTP driver for my Xperia SP C5303, but I can't locate it, even using Hardware ID string in device manager. Can someone please help. Thanks.
