hi all
is there a good easy to follow rom dump guide and a guide to make the dump flashable??
my partners phone is the s5839i and she wants a better rom flashing but we may need to flash original rom to return it if something goes wrong in the future.

Hi,
I am tempted to flash a custom ROM onto my Xperia, but before i do that, i have a couple of questions that i hope someone here might be able to answer.
1. Is there a guide available that explains everything step-by-step? I.e. is flashing of ROM the only thing to do? or are there other tasks required like flashing SPL or something like that? (I literally have no idea what SPL and similar terms mean either)
2. If after having played with a custom ROM, i plan to revert back to the original stock ROM and settings... is that possible?
Best Regards.

To restore stock rom: follow the "how to flash custom rom" method but use a stock rom instead of a custom rom
After, If you want to restore stock spl, just go to the hardSPL thread and follow the "how to restore stock spl" instructions
Not too difficult...
I currently have a diamond rom on here but for some reason sometimes it wont notify me of messages and it is reaally annoying. i just want the original rom on here, so i downloaded a "generic australia" rom in an .exe file that then extracted a .image file onto my desktop. now what do i do! please help
Look in the roms section at the stickys they give detailed instructions on how to flash a rom. They also have the official roms available in that section too.
.image? You got the wrong device my friend.
well wud anyone be able to talk me through how to do this?
I would use the official SE rom flashing tool I finds the most resent rom and auto install it

you must download the original rom (newest is R3A), then just do as when you install cooked roms.
pick your rom here:

and flash your phone!
Why would you flash your X1 with a diamond ROM????
hi all
i've done a relatively thorough search in the time i've had this morning... I'm helping a friend with her new SGS.. before i screw her over i wanna find a clean GB rom that she can Odin in case something goes wrong.. I have 2 on my computer, but i cannot find one online?! I must be looking in the wrong places...
Anyways, please can someone direct me to a clean odin-flashable GB ROM that does NOT require the phone to be running any specific build before flashing?
Many thanks

I would suggest building one for her in the ROM Kitchen. I think a CWM flashable ROM would be a better safety net then having to go back into Odin.
You can get most (if not all?) of the official and 'leaked' firmware from samfirmware.com
But since they are the stock rom, they are bundled with crap like alkido etc.

@Fallen.. i want to stay away from having to do adb stuff, since neither myself or the friend i am helping (over skype only) are familiar with adb.
@rschenck.. i'm familiar with RK, but have never flashed anything from them... can i just cook a random ROM on their website and flash it onto an SGS without fulfilling any requirements?
@chanw4.. samfirmware... could work - i'm in cape town, south africa... which region should i download?
thanks again peeps
