when you flash your new rom, it is recommended to flash safe kernel like this. Flashable through stock recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

In my opinion the safest way is to flash gb rom and den go for ics.it is my opinion.
Customs kernel are safe but i would recommend you like this.
See if you flashed ics directly from alliance rom and you got stuck in bw den it wud be a problem for you.

actually no need to flash twice. flash ics flash philz or any safe kernel. and do a factory reset.
I would suggest philz cuz it can be flashed from stock recovery and u will get cwm and root as well

thanksafter i flashed the safe kernel can i flash the stock rom from recovery?iits to much work and time to use pc odin.

You can use mobile odin for this.recovery flash is for custom roms.
Hit thanks button please

ok.in mobile odin should i have to put tar file also in kernel option ?or just the rom file.

See if you hv already flashed a safe kernel then i dnt thnk.well pif not den put kernel in kernel and rom in open file.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app

in mobile Odin just click on "open file" and select the ROM in tar,md5 format.. it will select all the other partitions automatically

Hello, I need to go back from LP1 ICS (imilka) to stock rom, which is the easiest way to do that?
I do not have a Windows PC and no PC Odin for that reason, could I flash one of the stock roms with Mobile Odin?
Many thanks

Hi, as far as I can tell the procedure goes like this. You flash AbyssNote http://www.mediafire.com/?o2yi462tby2lzan
Then you restart recovery. Now full wipe and then you can flash stock rom or restore your nandroid backup. I hope this helps.
You can watch this just to be sure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&hd=1

hello,
yes flashing abyss with mobile odin worked fine, had to extract the zImage from the zip file first
will install rom now via recovery when download is finished, thx guys
Just mobile odin is enough
1.extract rom(stock) file to tar.md5 n place on sd card
2.open mobile odin, select open file n point to rom file.
3. enable ever root option if you want to keep root intact
4flash
Done
You need nothing to do with abyss kernel
Still u ned any clearance, download guide from last link on my signature, extract it. You will find a file 'update rom using mobile odin' in new folder.

About stock ics 4.0.4

I wanna ask somthing about galaxy note
Now am running stock 4.0.3 rooted with CF-root and flashed speed mod kernal
Now i want to update my note to stock 4.0.4
With this kernal.
can anyone tell me how step by step?
Thanks 4 all

You will not be able to update via KIES / OTA with your setup (same as mine)
Options are;
- Flash the custom Kernel back in via CWM
- Downgrade to Stock GB and update via KIES / OTA from there then root and add desired kernel
- Flash the 4.0.4 Stock ROM via PC Odin.
Cheers
I was using the same configuration i.e. ICS stock 4.0.3 with speedmod kernel. I updated to 4.0.4 via mobile odin (4.0.4 downloaded from dr.ketan stock rom -german open). Speedmod has eMMC cap erase disable so it is safe to flash via mobile odin from 4.0.3 with speedmod kernel to 4.0.4.
now i m on ics 4.0.4 with speedmod k3-9

before anything, just a precaution. Always remember to backup your phone. Now the steps to flash to 4.0.4 thru mobile odin
1. download your stock 4.0.4 ics firmware specific to your region in www.samfirmware.com in your pc or laptop
2. Extract the zip file you've downloaded, it should have the tar.md5 inside. and copy the tar.md5 file to your external sd card.
3. using mobile odin, navigate to OPEN file and go to the destination /folder where you've saved the tar.md5 file (inside your sdcard)
4. In mobile odin, scroll down and tap on Flash fimrware. Hit continue and it will flash your phone after that to the latest stock 4.0.4 ROM.
You don't need to perform a factory reset.
Really thank u man i will do that now

Hi. I hope it is ok to ask something here about icw 4.0.4 instead of posting a new thread...
I have tried the stock rom for open german ics 4.04 and the hongkong ics 4.04 on my galaxy note. I thought international version stock rom should have minor differences only, but it turns out that these two stock roms are quiet different.
Open germany version has pop up video with the old gallery apk.
Hongkong version has NO pop up video but came with a very nice new gallery apk.
I wonder which ics 4.0.4 region/version is the most complete rom?
If there are non, how can I combine them?
Thanks

what can i do?and whay from recovery i just see the files from extranel card ?
You either root following dr. Ketans procedure and then flash Hydracore with mobile odin or just flash the pc odin version with pc odin and then use triangle away
Tapatalking on my n7000
i cant install hydracore from mobile odin because its a zip file.from mobile odin you can install only tar files
Just extract the zip to get the zimage and flash it with mobile odin

hydracore is not test signed so it cannot be installed using stock recovery. you can also use philz temp cwm to flash the hydracore zip.

[Q] How to update to stock ROM?

I have read:

My question: I have a SGN infected with the eMMC bug, and I want to upgrade it to the latest stock ROM. I know very little about flashing, and I know there are some risks when doing some things. I would like to know if the first link is safe for me, and which ROM I should use of the ones listed there (I live in The Netherlands). Do you guys have any tips or some guides made for the noobs among us?
that 1st link is the safest and best.
download the rom of. your choice. It. doesn't need to be of. your region. although you can check the latest firmware on www.samfirmware.com....
Once downloaded, use pc odin with the downloaded rom tar.md5 file selected in the pda tab. The connect the phone to pc in download mode and press start.
If you are upgrading to ics, then do not do any wipes, first flash a safe kernel...

Thanks for replying. Good to know that that thread is safe, but what do you mean by flashing a safe kernel? Those terms mean nothing to me.
theres two way to flash ROM. 1 is using PC ODIN and the other one is CWM
Flashing Via PC ODIN .. you need to have two thing.. The Rom You Want to flash and the PC-ODIN software
Flashing Via CWM.. you need two things. You need to root your phone and you need to install CWM.
every rom comes with modem, kernel (the file that govern how to handle your phone cpu), csc... the kernel inside ics is known to have brickbug
theres no need to flash kernel if you are flashing Rom via PC ODIN... Flashing kernel is when you are using CWM....

So, I can just flash any ROM using ODIN, and there will be no risk bricking my device?
If I flash a ROM, will I have a fresh install, and will my kernel also change so that I don't have the brickbug anymore?

yes you can flash any ROM using ODIN safely without bricking your device.
yes you will have a fresh install. your kernel will change too. as for the brickbug....
If you flash via PC ODIN then everything is stock to what you flashed.the kernel the firmware the csc the modem..all as stock provided....
1.If you flash ICS via PC-ODIN then your kernel also would be stock ics kernel that has brickbug..
Warning :
Don't wipe anything from stock ICS recovery
Don't factory reset/Hard reset on stock ICS.
Don't flash any Wipe version of ICS ROM
let say you want to flash Latest JB Rom but you are on ICS stock.
first thing you need to do is root your device ...install CWM.. Flash safe kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
let say ive rooted... installed CWM with safe kernel...
what i always do is everytime i want to flash new rom whatever rom it is...i flash Speedmod 3-15 (safe kernel) and go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash any rom i want so that im on the safe side without worrying what kernel im on.
2.If you flash GB than your kernel will be GB kernel which is safe to wipe..
if you want to flash custom rom from gb then you root your device and installed CWM and Flash since GB kernel is safe.
but.. let say u flashed ICS and wanted to go back to GB. then you are not safe anymore,,, that is why i always flashed Speedmod kernel 3-15 (safe kernel) and reboot recovery (by going to advance>rebootrecovery) and flashed any rom... that way im always sure that im in safe kernel when flashing Rom

[Q] How to flash Hydracore via PC Odin

Hello guys,
So I just downloaded the leaked official JB ROM for my N7000 and flashed it successfully via Odin (I came from the latest CM10 Nightly build).
After that I wanted to flash the latest Hydracore to have my phone rooted, but apparently it comes in .zip format only.
Since I'm not rooted and I don't have CWM now, how can I get to flash Hydracore via PC Odin?
Hope someone has the answer for this, as the internet is just full of bullocks all websites are describing the same non working procedure....
Thanks all

latest jb leak does not work with hydracore. If you want to root use philz kernel zip file and install using stock recovery.

will do so... I already flashed Hydracore and now I'm stuck @ Samsung's logo
Hopefully I won't face such issues again

Well, I've downloaded both v3.65 .zip files (XXLSA and XXLS7) and tried flashing them through CWM which was already on the device.
After rebooting either, it goes into a black screen after the initial boot screen (Galaxy Note GT-N7000).
Bear in mind I had already flashed Hydracore before that...
Any helpers as to what I'm doing wrong?
Should I reflash the stock ROM via PC Odin then flash Philz kernel via stock recovery?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I know I messed up big time
As what my friend nokia said. Hydracore is not compatible with jb leaks rom.
I m not so sure which kernel u r now, since u stuck at boot logo.
And I don't want to decide too fast that u have bricked ur phone.
Just try to flash the firmware again through odin. If u can, and can boot up, try to flash philz kernel from stock recovery.

That's what I'm thinking and doing now, wish me luck
I've also downloaded xxlsa to have 4.1.2 .. according to online tutorials I should flash cf-root via odin, then flash the rom via CWM .. any thoughts?
[Update - 1] phone is ok, re-flashed the stock firmware via PC Odin and it is working now, no problem! tried flashing cf-root, got stuck at the yellow triangle screen and nothing happens ... so I reflashed the stock rom again.
will try now to flash cf-root then boot into recovery, i just might be lucky
[Update - 2] upgraded to JB 4.1.2 successfully and rooted!
So which kernel are you using? and which Jelly bean?
