So I came from the Inspire which had an abundance of development going on for it, now that you can finally root the Vivid I'm hoping that it will pick up here as well. What I'm wanting to know is what ROMs are out there that will work for the Vivid and if they can be flashed used ROM Manager or if thats not available yet.
Also boot animations (if they must be vivid specific or can be used from any phone style)
Thanks for any help I might be able to get.
I really would not recommend the from manger yet for the vivid. The Holiday recovery is not correct for the Vivid
Read the Super guide and get the proper Recovery.
Check out the Vivid dev section there are a few Sense 3.5 Roms, the only one I have been successful with is RumRaider the rest I have had issues with boot looping and the like. Many of us are still trying to get to the bottom of these issues. However it is very early on on dev for the vivid

Recovery confusion
There is some confusion circulating about the CWM recovery version compatibility with the few roms currently available, and Rom Manger has reported an incorrect recovery version to me.
I would hold off on RM for a bit.
I have successfully loaded and used RumRaider and HoliRaider.
I would just follow the super guide and stay away from ROM Manager.
I still won't use ROM Manager even when it is supported because it's way to buggy for my liking. Plus, it's always good to know how to do everything manually if you ever have any issues.

SwiftKeyed from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA Premium
I recently tried to bring my G1 back from the grave but, unfortunately it seems to not resurrect. I upgraded to the GB and since then I have not been able to use my Touch Interface! It will boot, it will get to the "Touch Android", but i only can use my trackpad to select options.
i know i hate this, ive had a few g1s like this and it is so annoying that you cant just highlight with trackball! when this happens i replace the digitizer and its fixed.
if anyone else has a good idea how to skip this, other then deleting the start up wizard from the rom of choice id love to know
So you think its the digitizer?. I think its the kernal that I have flashed I had two G1s' flashed the sameRom on both and the same incident! Any takers on this?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
so you are saying everyone who flashed the same rom as you now has a useless touchscreen? i kinda doubt it, maybe im wrong here but i cant imagine a kernel causing the digitizer to stop working when the rest of the rom is fine. there are easy ways of testing your theory you know...
Like? Let me guess install a different Rom and kernal?

Very simple .so file fix. Specific for Holiday devices so it's not only for one carrier type.
Not my work, I found it over on Rootz and they didn't have credit either

someone posted it under another rom saying i'd fix the problem.
But thanks for the flashable version!
I am working on a tool that will :
root phone,
relock,
flash radio ,
flash recovery
Reboot
Logcat
Install drivers on PC
Perhaps make backup to PC and restore backup from PC.
GUI= graphic user interface
Aio = all in one
Wip= work in process
This is not to say that we not have useful tools already , it is only to provide a tool that only needs to press on some buttons and that is all. It will come like a app for windows and not inside a terminal.
If you have some idears to what should be included write as well and I will see what I can do.
It will be written in C# programming language. And will be simple to use.
I will some day, soon I think , need testers for all the commands so just write here if you are up for it

So you can use the app in MacOS/Ubuntu/Windows and pretty much any other distribution out there, and the Java language is pretty much the same as C#.
The main downside to Java is...write once, debug everywhere )

You should also make an installer for it so it will check and install if necessary .net framework 4, in this way you could get rid of lots of possible failures because of .net missing.
Also, as a recommendation, (you can say i want to promote my projects but not really) you could add CWM 6 found in my tool, because you don't need to check for the right HBoot, as it works for all of them.
And soon i will feature a fully touch CWM or a custom variant of CWM.

I will try and look at it. And see if it will take to much space to add .net for all windows. If it does I will make the installer to open a link if it is missing . It was also my plan to add installer. Oh and yes it is your cwm recovery I have added. To avoid errors I have only added your cwm and our twrp, so we have the newest from each edition that is fully working.

Nice job, and about .net, i think there is a webinstaller that detects the version it needs to download and you can include that in an installer and with the installer you can give it a more *premium* look.
Also, you can make a shortcut via the installer, that can also come in handy, also with an icon

Yes i think you are correct about .net . have already planned to do that. But I need to finish it up first and test everything and also need others to test it before I will make the finish thinks like installer and so. After that I think I have found a plugin to visual studio that can build java from c# code but that is low priority as I will have a fully working product first

Any unresolvable problems yous have encountered?
Oh and how the **** did yous become so good at developing? I've learn a lot from home, I get the language but most is all too tricky :/

Well as for bugs, we still don't have WiFi working, camera is not working at all at one rom and on another one camera recording is not working.
BT is still work in progress, but it works on one rom and will be fixed soon.
MIC is our biggest problem for now, other than that, everything works, rotation, 3d acceleration, sensors, GPS, 3g/signal, SDcard, sounds - speakers, mount USB and probably i forgot the rest.
Not bad!

Sv: Anyone porting ubuntu for SENTATION XL?
Just to share with you guys. After having compiled and testing then compiled and testing again and again I feel like having a new phone when it is running. I loved this phone from the beginning and at that time it was just a great phone, but then all other devices have other ROMs than only sense ROMs as we have and I was bored about it. I keep thinking, perhaps this phone was to slow to be a great device, until I first time flashed jelly bean. No matter if it was Codefirex or Evervolv or CM10.1 all running either android 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 I've tested the whole phone was just much more fast and nice to use. I can assure you that this will be a revolution for sensation xl

Personally I have not tested battery drain at all, the last 2-3 weeks my xl has been connected to the machine I compiles on did a testrum yesterday with evervolv so when I get home I will charge phone fully and just let it run until it is dead, in idle state then we will have some idea about if it is good or bad

That is what OTA update center is for , and i have included that in my MIUI rom and it is working just fine. You can see what i am talking about here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29501085
and i also think that we will put it in that way it is much easy for all to get the updates for future jellybeans, But with that app it will only allow you to get updates from the rom you are using. So if you are using Codefirex you will not see updates from Evervolv.
But in theory, it is possible to edit ota update center app, so it is used when going via settings --> about phone --> Software updates.
If a developer adds the app to a rom, just out of the box, no edit to it, it will come like a seperat app you are opening to see if there is an update, or it will do it automaticly.
Also you cant as an user download the app and then use it , it has to be put in by the developer.
It is infact pretty simple to get working :
1. Download the latest version of the app from our GitHub page.
2. Put the app in /system/app of your ROM.
3. Pick a ROM ID that you will use in our database. This should have no spaces and preferably be all-lowercase.
4. Add the following properties to your build.prop:
---otaupdater.otaid=<ROM ID you picked from previous step>
---otaupdater.otatime=<Date/time of this build in yyyymmdd-hhmm format>
---otaupdater.otaver=<The human-readable version number/name>
5. Package your ROM, generate an MD5 of the zip file, and upload it somewhere.
6. Add/update your ROM in our database. You will need the ROM ID you picked, the device you packaged for, and the URL and MD5 of the zip file.
For further updates, just make sure you update the otatime and otaver properties in build.prop
It amazes me what yous people can do!
Any news on a beta release date? So keen to try jb!
