O2X Stock kernel Myth Busters in action - LG Optimus 2x

LG O2X Stock kernel development is about to be revived by introducing new revolutionary features into guestekrnL, which have never been seen before in O2X Stock kernel development
Myth: Ramhack on O2X Stock Gingerbread kernel is NOT possible
Status: Busted [OCT 15, 2012] - utils used: one good idea by me while talking to TrymHansen (so thx @ Trym as without him I wouldn't have got the final idea) & 1 hour of work
Myth: Stepless change of vibration intensity to an absolutely custom level on stock kernel is NOT possible
Status: Busted [OCT 15, 2012] - utils used: one good idea by me, 1 (modified) code-snippet by benee & 1/2 hour of work
Tested and fully working on latest DjangoManouce v1.6.1s (see screenshot). Stay tuned, release of all-new mind-blowing guestekrnL v2.0 for STOCK soon  (either tonight or tomorrow I hope).

Doesn't that already exist? Who needs that anyway, the differences aren't really noticeable when changing GPU clock. Also guestekrnL comes already with OC'd gpu

That's the catch. It existed, but I doubt it actually worked in any of stock based kernels. As you said the benchmark scores changes only by fraction ie margin error. On heavy shader games it should have difference. Also FPSE perfomace with OpenGL plugin enabled.

Trym just told me that he was too busy so new GuesteOC not today which means I will release kernel in some hours (need something to eat first).
However Hybrid ROM is cool, glad you like it - still latest Django Manouche combined with new guestekrnL is awesome as well, you should give it a try sometime
New guestekrnL has all the things of latest symbi0sis kernel, so battery should be very good as well.

cool~~~~keep up!

basically with this we can now have some great stuff going on
1. CM6 will most likely fully support our phone now
2. we can have UV/OC kernels, which allow our cpu to be faster, while not using as much battery (theoretically)
3. whatever else the awesome devs out there can come up with
4. ???????

Do a quick Google search for Hyda kernel
Hydra kernels for 2.1 were great, undervolting increased battery life. There are also undervolt overclocked kernels as well from hyda.
If you are running 2.2 don't install a 2.1 kernel.
It is cool that the kernel source is out now, more goodies on the way!

While definitely good news, the bad news is that it's the kernel source from the first Froyo leak (7/27), not our current 8/1 version.
Will this help in any way to help fully unlock nand?

They might not have updated the kernel between the two versions.
My kernel-fu is weak, or this source blows. Probably the first.
I am merely disabling perflock and compiling. The kernel works, wifi works, and all that, but when the screen powers off, it comes back to a black screen with a lit white line at the top.

[Kernel][OC][11/24/11]The Doom Kernel V0.3 BETA

Doom Kernel V0.3
Apparently on the Xperia forums DooMLord has a kernel out called DooMKernel as well. This is in no way affiliated with that. I may change mine to Doom Boot or Doomed Kernel but for now he asked me to make a note like this so here it is.
First, I would like to give a big THANKS to Echts for helping me with repacking the boot.img and get this thing bootable...
Second, THANKS to tekahuna for the OC modules
This kernel contains OC and non OC versions. Speed tweaks, memory tweaks and network tweaks have been included after V0.1. All the non OC versions include all the tweaks.
V0.3 Now increases SDcard read write cache from 128kb to 4096kb
I appreciate any feedback I can get from this. It will work with ANY FROYO rom this is NOT a GB kernel.
How to install:
1) Download
2) Flash in CWM
3) Enjoy your OC kernel

CHANGELOG
V0.3 Added SDcard Read/Write speed increase
V0.2 Added lowmemorykiller settings
Added ADJ tweaks
Added Network tweaks
Tweaked Wifi supplicant scan settings in kernel itself
No more lags when installing apps from market.
V0.1 Stock Kernel with OC at 1.18GHz
I tip my hat to you sir. Looking forward to tinkering with kernel code and working on optimizations along the way.

Nooooo as of right now, testing tekahuna's modules, 1.23Ghz was as far as I could push without reboots and FC's.
Sorry forgot to mention that. Right now it is at what tekahuna calls the sweet spot of 1188MHz or 1.18GHz. That is the max as this is just a test speeds will increase slowly. Other tweaks and features will be added slowly.

Yes it will work with any of the thrill roms should work with O3D roms as well AS LONG AS IT IS FROYO this will not work on GB it is a froyo only kernel. Any rom in the Thrill development section will be fine.
How did you manage to get the boot.img repacked? I started trying to use mkimage instead of mkbootimg but to no avail. I have tinkered with all the different settings. Basically I'm just curious what you put for -a , -e , -d , and -C , because I can't get mine to repack. Also, how did you order the various inputs. Because, I just keep getting a usage output. And when I don't get that and it seems to run, still no new boot.img is created.
Thanks.
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
I will be writing up a nice tutorial here soon. You have to edit unpack-bootimg.pl and like you said the mkimage command has to be just right. Once you get it down the unpacking and repacking is a snap takes no time. It's the adjusting things and what not that becomes the most work.
Beta version 0.2 now contains OC at same clock speed (will release different clock speeds once testing phase is done) also has adjustments to lowmemorykiller, adj, network speeds. Slowly but surely moving along don't want to do too much at once just tweaking a bit then test, tweak a bit more then test. Safest route.
Thank you!
Word. A good how to is definitely needed for working with the Thrill Boot.img. I figured that it couldn't be too difficult. I just feel like i have tried every possible combination for the repacking. But im sure i am just missing something simple. Im assuming the Unpack edit is to change the initial data stripping from 2048 to 76? For now im gonna just include your boot.img that you posted here in my rom im working on (as long as that is cool with you...).
Props to you though for figuring it out...
And thanks to Echts and others for their assistance...
Thanks dude!
So glad that the thrill development scene is finally starting to take off!
Please do, anything I release is free and open to use. That's why we are here right?
And I didn't figure the repack out, it was armcee (sp?) Ricardo that figured it out, he just merely passed the info down the line it finally made it to me lol I actually gave credit to Echts over on O3D forum because he passed the info on to me.
I have to say, the V0.2 kernel definitely speeds things up. Apps run faster, load faster, it's nice... very nice. This is what I have been waiting for, kernel tweaking.

Testing the new Kernel, so far i love it, running SetCPU to keep tabs on CPU... Excellent job @Urabewe
cant wait to see if we can get more frequencies to test the OMAP4 processor... make this phone FLY!!!
nice kernel man but Battery drain seems a little high. well it is a no brainer when OC it take more battery power
Yes it's still a work in progress I did notice a bit of extra drain, I am going to release another kernel that's is not OC but contains the speed boosts. I'm hoping that will cure a bit of the battery problem while still keeping the what I think is incredible speed boost.
Also, can anyone else confirm that the delay/lag while installing apps from the market is basically gone with governor on hotplug max at 1188? I have installed about 5 apps and was trying to see how bad the lag was and didn't really experience any.
Well it's official I am calling it a feature... no more lags when installing from market. Phone remains nice and smooth. This kernel combined with Doomed Froyo Slim (which btw includes this kernel in the rom) has no lags and if you can find any lags in any programs or with the launcher let me know.

In ICS9 the most important advantage is battery life its 20-30% better than kernel V2
Good news!... Thanks for the Job!
Is hardware acceleration supported on those 3.x Kernels? I mean, is the problem of nVidia source code releasing only related to CM9/ICS or to the 3.x Kernel?
I tried some CM9 and Kangs (first builds) based on ICS, and without HW modules/drivers, went back to CM7Kang for stability and performance.
Hardware acceleration works.

That would be great!
As far as I can tell after using it for 5 hours, the kernel seems to work stable and swift. The only thing I've really missed so far is Voodoo Sound support.
(Tested so far: USB debugging, USB mount, cifs, francarl's modified LG camera, HW accelerated MX Video player, wifi, hspa data, calls, GPS)
Touchscreen isn't that responsive as on Vadonkas.
Otherwise no bugs till now.
Keep up! Very good work!

The GPU works the way it's meant. It will work best on ICS though after LG/Nvidia releases the binaries.
Nice and straightforward name for kernel.
Great!
Does this kernel have voodoo sound? Any ram hacks?
Thank you

[28-APRIL] [STOCK-KERNEL] guestekrnL Platin Hybrid v1.0 | 2.6.32.55 - CM7/v10E/v20Q

~ Ready for one more revolution? ~
guestekrnL Platin Hybrid v1.0
Have you ever asked yourself, why the f*ck it is neccesary that we poor stock users have to use an old outdated linux kernel based on a much older kernel version than an up-to-date CM7 kernel? Well, we don't have to any longer
Stock v20Q kernel is based on linux v2.6.32.9
This kernel is based on linux v2.6.32.55
This is a difference of 46 revisions.
Specials:
First O2X Stock kernel completely based on latest CM7 kernel
Linux base thus is 2.6.32.55 instead of 2.6.32.9 like all other stock kernels
All features have been ported correctly, vibration, brightness setting, auto backlight, led buttons, WIFI tethering, USB tethering, GPS, USB Storage, everything is working
All features known from normal guestekrnL including the GuesteOC app are included and useable
Hybrid parts are taken from both v10E kernel and v20Q kernel
ultrasmooth
A CM7 kernel has never before been successfully ported to 100% stock P990/O2X compatibility.
I might even port other CM7 kernels like VorkKernel to stock in future.
Enjoy the first release.
And attention: Of course it is possible, that the kernel is instable or something does not work. So please report how it works for you.

Now I'm curious and interested to know.
Does the newer kernel v2.6.32.55 bring any significant improvements or new features over the older v2.6.32.9 kernel?
And is there any reason why LG did not update the kernel whereas for other brands (for example Samsung) they did?
wow, great baater life with the new kernel

I got time today a little while to observe OC possibility, and attempted. I was in hurry and these days I dont much have time these days so I've not tested what I've writtten, but theoretically it should work without issues:
OC Engine For LG Optimus 2x For 2.6.39.x Kernel
*It's written for 1.2Ghz but it's easy to ramp up to 1.4/1.5 by observing codes.
Devs feel free to use ,
and rippers dont rip codes to represent it as yours.

I logged in after many days and found wkpark has already made oc available in easy more effective ways and more robustly it has been written
Users are usually don't aware about the real heroes and those such persons are wkpark, harsh etc who has given very much contributions for lg optimus 2x.
So thanks deserving persons are wkpark and harsh as well that users must know
"Share, learn and enjoy" that's the key to OpenSource

this is another OC/UV patch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971350 (Please see attachments)
based on the "Overclocking the Toshiba AC100" work by gordan
- http://www.altechnative.net/2011/12/31/overclocking-the-toshiba-ac100/
and the TF101 OC by ibladesi
- https://github.com/ibladesi/TF101-HighOC-3P1
it works nicely with my SU660
harsh already applied simplified version of this OC/UV patch on his kernel
https://github.com/bhanvadia/lge-kernel-star/commit/ed65546739d458454f0c4d14902d970626046e06
https://github.com/bhanvadia/lge-kernel-star/commit/31cd7ea99b962386ba12e36fc99e3ac9dc858def
it needs two fixes
- https://github.com/bhanvadia/lge-kernel-star/commit/604d675b84aaa905a675109e52b4becebded9cff
- https://github.com/bhanvadia/lge-kernel-star/commit/4ade8a95ed07aa5ac08d1923f48192f91ced8d68

commit in my github is for P990 itself.
But as Topo said, OC is flaky currently. Anything more than 1.2 GHz make phone hang. Need to find where did NVIDIA implemented code for making CPU stuck as half frequency if its OCed.

great can u share it so that people can test! i have all msot shure that audio bug is boatloader related so if some on can compile a cm10 from RC and apply the new bootloader for testing will be great!
Anda I'm saying that because 28e/g cm10 old bootloader call problems v228/e/g new bootloader at 10 not a sigle call problem!

bootloadr is not related with audio bug... and that will never be.
official leaked ics roms doesn't have audio bugs just because they are official p990 roms with the official p990 kernel from lg, i remind you that cm10 is using su660 kernel source, a not completely but strongly enough different phone.

If you read a bit more, you'll find out that the original P990 ICS leak with untouched kernel is also suffering from the same bug. Nothing to do with CM10 or SU660...

I think that the new bootloader and related thing have better compatibility with ics then the old gb bootloader, for sure..
I'm using the leaked ics from the beginning and i don't have a single call bug

Agree, someone with kind heart and capable should build cm10 with new bootloader/layout partition.

I know audio bug is really an annoying bug.
I don't know whether audio bug is related to boot loader or not.
And about boot loader, I won't say its impossible w/o sources but we don't have boot loader sources, neither sources of old nor new:/
