Just curious, I will be able to flash this from a Miui V4(ICS) rom and then go back onto Miui using my nandroid backup afterwards, correct? Downloading now, flashing tomorrow.
P.S. I also got this video from I9000 forums, with JB port, you may want to think to this video as it teaches people how to flash etc.
Any video with speed of UI possible?
Holy ****. Quick, pat this guy on the back!

No, I think it is mainly coding improvements, but don't mark my words because I have no idea. But Project Butter does work.

Flashed and it's great. Any idea if this is Voodoo Color? There's something about this that looks different.

No Voodoo color, I think it is just Jellybean that is causing it to look different.
Recovery vol keys are inverted.
FE, I think it's awesome that you put in so much of your time to not only maintain CM9 for us on the vibrant but to also flash and do some testing on other roms.
I wish I had the kind of time you seem to have.
To everyone working on this rom... Keep up the nice work on this rom, I look forward to seeing JB on the Vibrant since the manufacturers aren't willing to put forth the effort for us.

Congratulations bhushangahire on working towards a new rom.
always good for the community to have new developers..
however as you can already see, we don't have the most patient lot out here
and it is quite understandable as most ppl love playing with their phones & can't wait to have a new flavor on them.
am assuming (hoping really) you have something ready to update here as you don't want negative comments on the first page of your first rom
if not i would advice you to have a mod take this thread off & you can start a new one when you ready..
and guys, take a chill pill.
let the man do his work, there is enough happening on the IncS scene to keep everyone busy than flaming someone new.
remember all of your favorite devs have had to start somewhere
all the best & hope to see something good

I am new to making custom ROM. For now I have just extracted the stock ROM and added Aroma installer. I have tested the build on my ROM and its working all fine. I am planning to add Amaze Camera & APM at first. Got some issues with Android Policy. So working on it.
I am not planning to draw any attention. So guys who dont want to try out the ROM from newbie please dont make any comments here.

Uploading my first rom build from Stock with camera (Panorama & HDR not working) & GPS mod. Uploading is very slow on Dev host. Will update link as soon as possible. Thanks.
Please note! Due to certain issues, as of 08/26 I have moved on to the official CM10. If time permits, I'll update this OP, but not making promises.
WARNING: This ROM probably still has intermittent emergency dialing issues. Do not use it for a daily driver when you're out or could need 911 or any emergency number. If you STILL choose to use it at those times, it's your own fault!

Build 08/20 is showing as available. I don't recommend dl'ing it as its caused many to have baseband issues. I've contacted Der to look into this, which I'm sure he will when time permits.
(08/17)New build available.
This is md5 sum:
cd703c25d560ce4c3d33cbfcab724427
Changes:
- compiled from latest sources, but still using /datadata (going to be change probably soon)
- renamed the two navbar menus
- added Facebook sync (you have to install Facebook app before)
- added i9000b to supported devices
- (hopefully) fixed modem/baseband issue
- added possibility to install devil kernel apps to installer
- fixed mms for showcase
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/Helly_Bean/rom/
Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is highly recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
TF here.....I found, as often is the case, I had to flash the ROM and let it boot up, then go back in and flash the add-on. After that.....golden!
(08/15)New test build up now.
Why test build?
- Because I have added two new devices, for which I don't know if it is working well for them
- I have fixed the navbar not appearing, but now there a two menus in system which both are named the same. One is for enabling, the other for customization. I am working at integrating the two into one menu, but I did not get it yet.
- ffc support for Vibrant
Install process has not changed, but if you are coming from another ROM/kernel than mine, you should create a folder devil at your sdcard, place a file named device into it, and write your device name in it, valid names are:
i9000
cappy
vibrant
fascinate
mesmerize
showcase
users of mesmerize and showcase have to do this!
Other changes:
If devil app(s) are not installed, the menu is not displayed under system settings (many thanks to phillbring for coding me this).
md5sum is: 3b11a106529f10236d2e6139416bc346
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/test/
Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is highly recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
From TF: I love the Cid theme from Annex, but flashing his most recent version sent me into bootloops. I'm assuming he will update as soon as he has a chance.
(08/13) New instructions for flashing. Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
The files can be found at:
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/Helly_Bean/
Install instructions:[/SIZE]
Coming from any other rom:
- make sure to have gingerbread bootloaders. (Remember, Google is your friend)
- wipe data/factory reset
- flash allinone.zip
- reboot recovery
- flash allinone.zip again
- flash Helly_Bean_AddOn or Helly_Bean inverted AddOn
coming from previous version:
- flash allinone.zip
- flash Helly_Bean_AddOn or Helly_Bean inverted AddOn
Attention: this is still a test. Don't flash it if you don't know what you are doing/how to get back!
For a new feature cherry-picked last night, go to settings --> system

You can find the official website for this project here (I don't maintain the site myself, if there is anything website related to ask, please use the contact info from the web site):

You'll find download links and faq on this site.
The usual back-up, complete wipe (if this is the first time flashing this ROM), flashing of files and fix permissions applies.
***********
One thing I noticed is that if you follow the normal flash procedure, it can bootloop, or at least appears as though it is. One way to fix that is to flash the ROM only and boot up you phone. Then go back into recovery and flash the add-on. That has worked every time it happened to me.
You can find the changelog here:
http://hellybean.site11.com/changelogg.html
For mirrors, please take a look at the thread. if you don't find any, just ask in the thread.
I really didn't want to mention this, but lack of experience by some members seems to require it:
If you are unsure of ANYTHING that goes with flashing a ROM, do research first. If you honestly can't find the answer, ask questions. We are not responsible for any action that happens to your phone.

Now, from TFordham (you can just call me TF):
I've been using this ROM for some time now, and really happy with it. Personally, I think this is the best JB ROM out there. I find it very smooth, and for an early release, quite stable.
I do want to point out that I'm not a dev at all. The Helly Bean ROM is from DerTeufel1980 and his team. I put this up since his ROM is being mentioned in another ROM forum, but figured it might as well have its own home
Something else I want to be clear about is that I have no technical knowledge on creating ROMs, kernels or other things of this nature. I simply wanted to let other Vibrant owners know this ROM is out there. This fantastic XDA community is the place to ask, as there are plenty who know FAR more than I. In addition, DerTeufel1980 is active in this forum, ago if there are issues, he will help address them. While I appreciate the "thanks" button being hit, it is his comments in this thread that should be thanked.

HellyBean 0801 is definitely the fastest JB ROM for the Vibrant because of the included Devil 1.1.0 kernel and the use of the faster datadata partition. All Vibrant users should donate to Derteufel1980 for his amazing kernel and now ROM support. He is the only ICS/JB kernel developer we have right now so we must treat him right.
How does this differ from the CM10 v8? Other than the kernel of course.

Keeping in mind I'm far from the most tech savvy flasher out there, like I mentioned, I don't see a huge difference in most of the JB ROMs. I just happen to like this one a lot. Others may be able to get into far more detail on why it's good compared to other (or vice versa, for that matter, if they feel that's the case).

Again, not a techy. Give it a try, just do a back-up first. I tend to always do a full wipe. Seems like ROMs just run better that way, IMO.

I think that DerTeufel has to be the OP.
Did you ask him before put this?
Are you able to answer questions about Kernel, ROM, Modems, UV, NL etc?
Update the proper content of our device?
This is why the "leader team" or the Dev has to be the OP.
Not trolling, just saying: If we want a better Topic it has to be created by DerTeufel.

How's the battery life on this rom? Im getting amazing battery on CM10 Alpha Preview by FE with Devil 1.0.4 test3 JB kernel. I wanna know if this battery's any good before I switch.
Can someone quickly summarize how to get here from Stock? I had done it a long time ago to the ics roms and can't do it again... I"m missing some major step.
So far:
heimdall to stock
root update.zip
install rommanager and then cwm install and re-boot to flash update.zip -> cwm recovery.
Flash this rom
-> results in boot loop.
What am I missing?

Way cool, will backup can test what's listed as working and see if i can find more of what's not working.

Has changed the default language en_US.Update rom url
Not bad!
So I gave this test ROM a try. It's nice to see KitKat running on an Atrix 4G! I'm so excited to see some progress!
However, there are definitely several issues with it. The problems I found are:
Calls/text doesn't work
Mobile data doesn't work (says AT&T 4G but no connection)
SuperSU doesn't appear to work (crashed when opening and wouldn't let an app have root access)
Bluetooth didn't turn on for me (but I see you seemed to get it working, maybe it was just bad luck)
No WIFI (doesn't scan as you stated in the post)
Couldn't test any apps or camera because I couldn't restore my apps without root, and the camera must be a part of gapps now, which I also didn't install.
I was also gonna post some screenshots but it wouldn't let me snapshot (said storage error?)
Just thought I would sum up my experience so far. Thanks for letting us test out this promising new ROM! :good:
why need to test this ROM if K did not update his kernel from GitHub? had all same issues isn't it?

K's kernels are CM9 and CM10.1 based. This is a CM11 based kernel with a build date of 6 Aug 14
Calls - No go
BT (file transfer) - Go
Wifi - same as OP reported
Battery - same as OP reported (There's no way that after 8 hrs it should still be at 100%)
Speakers/Headphones - No go
Apollo/DSP Manager - Crash
Ravilov's Battery Fix app - scripts not able to be executed
Thanks!!!
Mobile data seems to be working, Bluetooth and superuser. ART included, I'll do more testing later.

Don't be harsh to K, as I was fixing audio segfault in CM 4.4.4, the more I realized most of the audio problem (like Skype, Bluetooth error) is more ROM related than Kernal related. Most of them are due to incompatiblity of hardware HAL files in our unfinished Moto's 4.0 rom...... Of course Mobile Data HAL is sill PAIN IN THE AXX... ...

And what about to use - for now - the old kernel like epinter's CM10?, in XOOM kitkat they use and old 2.x kernel too, the hardware acceleration its not really a problem compared to use and unfinished kernel with more issues to solve.
Anyway we agree that Kristianp is doing it's best work to continue developing the 3.1 kernel, so any negative comentary should not be allowed as most of us are only users and some cooperate with minimal things.
I could boot my second atrix, now time to BL Unlock, root, etc and it's ready to test some KK roms.
It's great to see the "4.4.4" in the settings
Mobile internet works fine.
Kitkat feels quite snappy on this "too old, too slow" hardware.
Thank you so much for keeping the Atrix alive.
Will try to install the Play Store and test out some apps!
cannot wait to try this!
Booted up fine and looks slick. had to do some searching around to find how to switch to ART.
Also had to use Z's recovery_4.3.img... ROM won't install with TWRP.
Wish I could do more testing like battery but it's not feasible at the moment.
Looking forward to other releases to test.
Really love the tons of options available in KK.

I think 2.6... not so sure.
TWRP 2.6.3 gives errors and aborts installation.

I believe, based off of what i've seen, 2.6.3.0 is the minimum to flash 4.4 ROMs, but 2.7 is reccommended.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
There's no 2.7 for Atrix and apparently there's also no 4ext Recovery, so the only ways are CWM or Z's recovery (will try Z's on Monday or Tuesday)

Thank friends test feedback .
Apply a new job, computer is not in my city, so the update rate slow down (my technique is limited).
I look forward to Z 4.4.4
please forgive my terrible english.
Please upload it to a diferrent pleace
*** This KERNEL ONLY SUPPORTS SAMSUNG TW ICS 4.0.4 ROMs (STOCK and CUSTOM). DOES NOT WORK IN CM or AOSP!!! ***
*** The Kernel is based on TW JB source which is safe ***
*** Still, I take no responsibility if the provided KERNELs causes any problem to your phone, you are warned! ***
Hello all,
I have been using all newer versions of rom for our "ancient but wonderful" G-Note. Still not quite happy and I missed the feeling of light and fast of the old ICS rom. The stock is not good enough, while the custom kernels most got pulled down and none supported trim, causing rom to slowdown after some time used.
So decided to make a custom ICS rom and kernel for myself. After many many testings with ICS kernel sources without feeling satisfied, I re-based to JB kernel source and wow! What a nice surprise. The combination made my Note flight!.
I feel extremely happy with it, my Note feel like a new device. So I share here with you:

KERNEL CHANGELOGS:
Kernel-V3:
- 1600 MHz OC CPU option, stock GPU
- Compile using uber toolchain
Kernel_V2:
- Reverse to stock CPU ang GPU
- Fix video recording
- improve battery life
Kernel_V1:
- GPU 3 steps (133-267-400)
- Enable OC CPU to 1600 (default). Allow to customize CPU voltage.
- PhilZ Touch recovery
- Exfat native support
- Trim support
- Various tweaks from Speedmod kernel
My favorite kernel governors and schedulers combination: SmartassV2+Vir or PegasusQ+Row
ROM FEATURES:
- Based on stock TW ICS 4.0.4: LR8
- Almost as stock. Removed lots of bloats apks.
- Add 14 toggles
- Call recording.
The room is extremely fast and responsive. It handle heavy games (such as Golfstar) like a breeze and also battery friendly. :good::good::good::good::good:

@forest1971 thanks for hanging on to the old note. Any development for this device is always appreciated.
Btw could u develop a kernel for cm13. Most of the n7000 users use cm13 and a new kernel would a useful addition. Afterall u r the only kernel developer left apart from bauner. Cheers

Thanks. But just so u know, the rom is stable to use with a few bugs here and there. Most of us users here have it as our daily driver. Hope to see ur kernel soon!
Thx for your effort
any chance of telling us the steps on installing the said files thank you

Reboot to a custom recovery.wipe data and then flash the rom.
If you are om an ics rom, then flash the kernel would be enough.
I will add the instruction later.

Is there Interactive governor in there? What are the frequency steps for the kernel? I might try this if I can find the TW roms.

As shown in the title and OP, the rom is essentially a stock TW ICS 4.0.4 (LR8). I remove some bloatware apk and added few mods.
The main improvement is in the kernel.

The home button just won't respond. Short press and long press won't do amything, not even a phone restart.

I mean you flash rom only or kernel only to another rom? did you make a lean install or dirty flash...? should make clean install and see how it goes.

It was a clean install. Full wipe of data and cache, then install. Though I didn't do a factory reset and another cache wipe before reboot, could that be it?

Did a reflash, factory reset and cache wipe. Still nothing, since nobody reported anything it's probably a hardware thing but on Nightowl it works fine >.>

It's strange. There are a few dozens download so far, so I hope others will report.
In the mean time can you post a screening shot of the setting/about phone? I would like to make sure kernel version is correct one.
