Question about Firmwares - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I broke my old Blackberry and a buddy gave me an old Galaxy Ace that was locked to Koodoo, I have rooted, unlocked and now have the phone running on the Rogers network.
I have unlocked my phone and flashed many custom ROM's. The problem is after about 10 minutes of use, the phone drops all connectivity. THe first 10 minutes everything works, 3G, Edge, WiFi send/receive calls, send/receive mms/sms all of it is great then all of a sudden it drops everything.
Im thinking its because Im not using the right firmware/baseband. So I was wondering if someone out there has a Koodoo phone unlocked and is trying to use it on the Rogers network, which baseband are you using?
Phone = Koodoo SGA unlocked and trying to use on Rogers
ROM = CM10 nims/biel.tv nightly's
Android Version = 4.1.2
Baseband = S5830XXKPP

Rooted phone, no 3G ROGERS

I just rooted my phone and I was able to get 3G service up and running just fine but I am unable to get 3G working. I have read that this is because I flashed the phone with a tmobile rom? it was the latest release of cyanogen

[Q] German O2 SIM on Brazilian Milestone - No 3g. Why?

Hi,
I have a Brazilian (Vivo) Milestone, unlocked and rooted, and I'm currently in Germany. I bought a pre-paid O2 SIM, but although calls and sms are working fine, the data connection is not. Even if I define to use only 2G, it still won't connect.
The SIM is working fine, since I'm sending this message using it with a 3G USB Stick.
I am with 2.1 stock ROM, but I also tried flasing it to Dexter's 2.2 Motofrenzy, and even xslntx's 2.1 Tellus. Same behavior.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I want to flash custom rom, but....

I had to return my phone because I couldn't connect to my network (even from nanoback restore).
What happen was few days ago I got my incredible S on a bell network for 3 years. The plan is Fab10 (1gb/200minutes/free calling for 10 numbers).
I started to do some research on how to flash to custom roms. I first rooted my phone, than found a ROM Android Revolution HD™ 1.1.7. Did a nanoback up than I finally flashed it (without the radio update). I couldn't connect to my bell network. After that I flashed the radio and still had the same issue. Google didn't show up anything, so I to restoed my nanobackup. Now the network is running, until I plugged in my USB. Network disconnected and only had WiFi. I unplugged and it still wouldn't connect, rebooted and same issue again.
This phone is only 1 day old. I go to bell, tell them the networking isn't connecting and got a (NEW) incredible s. I'm afraid of flashing to a custom rom, because my network could be disconnected.
Can any of you help me to not run into that problem again?
If I remember correctly, to flash a radio update you need to have s-off for radio as well.
could that be the reason why i lost my phone/text/3g connections.
even with stock rom restore, the network was cutting in and out. Only started happening after I flashed the rom

the stock rom contains some files that allow the 3g/mms/text etc to work. I'm on bell and not sure if they follow 850/1900mhz, compared to 2100mhz.
There should be no need to flash a new radio if your phone is android 2.3 + the only reason we were flashing radios was because a few months back our phones were shipped with 2.2 (froyo) . Most likely your phone was defective if they gave you a brand new phone (they are made in Taiwan after all).
I'm also on bell networks in Ontario I've never had a problem with connection using the current radio and your ROM
well if I flash again, I need a backup plan. Originally the guy said you have 30 days to return it.
I returned it once because it wasn't connecting to the network. Is it possible to return it again if I can't connect again?
Chances are you can if you s-off and root and flash you can always revert to stock by flashing a stock ROM
what s-off you recommend for 2.3.3 incredible s bell 3g network

Hmmmm.... what is your location ? Did you flash a Euro-FW ? The fact your Tab showed being on EDGE-network is not bad, it just means you hadn't activated the data-link in setting-wireless-etc... E or G are the normal cell-bands.
Try to reflash your modem with a JMA,JPZ or JQ2 modem from the thread. Mind you, JQ2 will show up as JQ3 in settings these are the quadband/data-enabled modems working a charm here...
thhx i try it and let u know the outcome
I use RotoHammer Modem switch for 2G voice and 3G for high speed surf. It's much easier for me than flashing TMO's 2G-3G every time you want to use either one. TMO's 2G should be 12 megs and the 3G is 16 megs. I'm not sure why when I downloaded ROTO's switch both files have the same megs. Anyway, just a thought for all of us here.

[Q] Unlocked G Note Network Reception Issues

I have international unlocked G Note which I got from India. My problem is whenever I turn off the phone and turn it back on I get "Emergency Calls Only" error for like 2-3 minutes and then I get the signal back. I have flashed many modems / roms (currently I am on the latest CM10 nightly / hydracore kernel with XXLRK modem) and the problem is still there. I've also noticed that after rebooting the phone under APN settings it always go back to "vodafone NL" and not my carrier's APN no matter what modem I have installed. I will appreciate your help guys.
