Just like you flash a ROM in recovery but I suggest you should do some reading before start tinkering your phone.
how to flash kernel
Flash it with flashtool. Lupuses kernel is the best.

Hi guys,
Now I had no problems flashing a custom ROM on my HTC Desire but my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 is causing me a huge headache
I would like to flash Jelly Bean but I'm struggling.
My Note is rooted and I have purchased Mobile Odin off the Play store, using Mobile Odin has not resulted in a successfull flash, yet. lol
What's even more confusing is that the kernel version on my Note has changed but no visible settings can be seen.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stefan
1. How are you flashing in mobile Odin?
2. What rom are you trying to flash?
3. What exactly happens?
4. Are you sure you have full root (DL an app from play store to check)?

nice one..
what rom are you from.. if you have root then install ClockWorkMod and flash Safe kernel such as Speedmod 3-15 and Hydracore,, after flashing safe kernel go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash Custom Rom.

Is ClockWorkMod safe with Samsung Note on ICS?
Depends which kernel, you need a non stock kernel to be completely safe.

Rom is the platform itself, Kernel governs all the hardware. Simply put

Rom flash usually includes kernel, then flash required kernel after.

Ok I think I understand.
What ROM would you recommend for tge Samsung Galaxy Note N7000?
Appreciate your help.
You obviously really need to do some reading before flashing anything. Start with the stickies.

I have stock ICS 4.0.4 rom and I want to root
my Note and flash to Cyanogen ROM or paranoid rom.
1 question: Will I be able to flash using Philz Cwm6 Kernel, or should I use other Kernel?
2. Does a stock ICS rom is a peoblem flashing to Jelly Bean Cyanogen or is the kernel which is important for flashing?
P.S Sorry if I wrote something because I'm still noob on phone modding.

just go to install a safe kernal here for ur ICS4.0.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
my advise is do a backup using the safe kernal b4 flashing any roms it might help u in case something when wrong.
if u really don't know how to flash CM u can go find a rom manager it might be the easiest way for noob.
Flashing cm requires first flashing a cm 10 or 10.1 kernel, have a look in chasmodo's kernel repository in the stickies somewhere for cm based kernels.
Doesn't matter what rom you're on, you're right it's the kernel that's the important part.
Also if flashing cm base, make sure you perform full wipes before and after flash for best stability.

No, you need a specific cm kernel. Otherwise you'll face boot loops.

You won't be able to boot into ics, but once you've flashed cm kernel, then reboot into recovery and flash CM rom and then gapps, then do 3 wipes before boot.

Philz has fixed th error 7 on the 3.99 release. So you can go ahead and do the formats and flash the cm rom. There is actually no need to flash the th cm kernel first.
I have done it myself a couple of days ago

Hi,
And why is it fun?
Just root> unlock bootloader> flashthe kernel kernel (nAa/Oxydo-JB) if you want to Jelly Blur (CM10) rom what it takes to unlock the kernel
In this way, what you gave it a quick and convenient, and look closely and you can unlock the bootloader here on the forum you will find step-by-step instructions
Also good luck and best regards
Use x8toolbox

What i did is root stock, after that i unlocked bootloader, then i installed cwm and then i want to install kernel for jellyblur but everytime i do that my phone bricks. How exactly i have to flash the kernel? After flashing kernel i format system and data like in instruction. I rebooted then phone without flashing jellyblur i think this is the problem. I have to fladh kernel then go in cwm formatting system and data and without exiting flashing jellyblur is this right?

The zimage (the kernel info and whatnot) is all stored in the boot.img.
However, some kernels need to be modified before it fully works with a select ROM as clearly demonstrated by Kangaroo Kernel by Markj. Z14 may not be fully compatible with a certain ROM and possibly break WiFi or something. Always make backup before flashing a new kernel so that you have something to fall back on in case something breaks.
sorry for a noob question.
actually i have recently been familiar with flashing kernels.
so anybody, pls. tell me what is the speciality of this kernel??
rather how to choose correct kernel for my phone??
i know how to backup rom.
kindly help!!!
is backing up a kernel the same process??
Actually I didn't care about backing up my kernel I just flashed it using 4ext recovery app so easy

Hi guys. just gonna ask,
I've seen and learned about the build number, and the builds that i come across reading the forums isn't like mine.
Mine is JZO54K.I8190NZSAMC1 so i don't know if it is compatible when it comes to flashing ROM and kernels and other tinkering the OS stuffs to my build. Thanks to your answers in advance.
As long as the rom is for your device, lets say you got the 8190L then you can only flash 8190L roms

It depends does the rom include your model? if it does give it a go
i think it does include my model but to be sure since it's my first time flashing custom roms. i flashed enox revenge and it's going smoothly no noticeable bugs yet. thank you for confirming. now i have peace of mind when it comes to flashing stuffs.

Glad it worked out in the end for you! I tried enox revenge, but i wanted more of a s4 feel so i went with dmod. Both are excellent roms very stable to stuttering or anything.
i've read the thread about dmod. doesn't it drain your battery fast? i think that's one issue of the dmod right? and to fix that you have to flash something (which i've forgotten).
btw thank you again!
