Problem Rooting - Motorola Droid 3

Is there any way to root the Droid 3 without a USB connection. The USB port on my phone does not work properly. The only way I can get any files to my phone is via external micro SD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently on 906 and have no custom recovery installed, just stock. I'd even be willing to attempt to flash an already rooted ROM through that if its at all possible. Again, any help here would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Is there a way to get stock captivate kernel without usb? SOLVED

Ive lost all usb connectivity, I can charge the battery but it will not connect to any pc with any cable under any configuration.
Ive recieved my replacement from warranty. But I would like to get the broken phone back to stock kernel before I return it. It is currently runnig http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784170 by atinm.
I have stock jf6 rom but kernal still shows non stock from voodoo.
Is there a way to do this such as an update.zip that Ive missed.
I have looked through the captivate section for days but cant find anything that will help, If someone knows of something Ive missed please point me there. I would apreciate any assistance.
My concern is if I cant get kernel back to stock it might void my warranty. The irony is I didnt alter the kernel untill after usb broke.
Thank you for reading.

Thank you designgears and koush. your jf7 ota and clockwork mod put me back to stock.
I used recovery-update.zip(koush) to run jf7 ota.(designgears)
I had to do it that way to keep voodoo from reinstalling.

I have the same USB issue...tried everything its has been a real pain in the ass . I am currently rooted with jf7, flashed cognition 2.1.3 voodoo enabled. The phone runs better then ever but I gotta have my USB just in case **** happens.
I would like to go back to stock unrooted before I exchange the phone . I searched around the forums for the recovery-update.zip mentioned above. I assume it was a private exchange. I would really like to get that file, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

what I did was put design gears jf7 onto a microsd along with koush's recovery update.zip
you will need to remove your lag fix because it doesnt play well with clockwork if you dont have clockwork, all you really need is the recovery update .zip and the jf7 ota .zip if you can manually get into recovery you might not even need the recovery update.zip I had to use it because after I removed lag fix it would reinstall upon boot so I removed the lag fix and ran recovery update.zip upon the next boot( you will need to rename this update.zip and go into recovery by holding down power+both up and down vol until screen comes on then let go of power and continue to hold both up+down vol till you hit recovery then select to run the update. zip which is actually clockwork. then you can select to run the jf7 ota update . zip
that how I had to do it you might be able to skip the recovery . zip and just run the jf7 update.zip
be sure to rename it update.zip unless you use clockwork
just make sure you get the lagfix off before you run clockwork.
fell free to pm me if you need anymore help as Im not really good at explaining things sometimes
Hope this gets you back
ps you will need to move the files from micro sd to internal sd

Help getting to ICS

So, I'm on 3.2 ROM and tiatmat tachi kernel. I had a backup for recovery, but my SD card decided to fail on me. Since I haven't replaced that yet, I don't have the ability to install with a zip file via recovery. So, here are my questions:
-Is there a way for me to get to ICS without an SD card or USB host cable?
-If so, what is the best way to get to ICS?
I'm generally familiar with a lot of the various methods for flashing and I'm able to actually do research to learn steps I'm unfamiliar with... so, with that in mind, if someone can just post the main steps, I can figure out the details.
Thanks in advance!

Need help with passimg.zip

Hey all
Last year my beloved nexus one got screwed up after a networkfix.zip with CM7 nightlies. That means no network, no sound, no usb. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911746) I still had root, and could use my phone as a PDA, but then I upgraded to 2.3.6 through passimg and lost that too.
Now here's what I want to do. I want to downgrade to 2.3.3 so I can root again, but I get the main version is older error. My main version is 3.13.1700.1 so I can't even use the fixed rom for that.
I need help creating a 2.3.3 passimg with the main version set to 3.13.1700.1 or higher in the android-info.txt so I can root with gingerbreak and install a custom recovery. I would really love having root back again, till the time I can get a new device. So if anyone can make the passimg.zip for me, or guide me through the process, I'll be really grateful.
Thanks for your help.

If you are familiar with fastboot, try flashing system.img and boot.img seperatly. Also wipe the system partition. Maybe you have a AT&T Version?
Did you follow the wiki
I seem to remember something about that in the wiki instructions
I would use fastboot to just flash a custom recovery since I unlocked my bootloader long ago, but the problem is that the USB is no longer working. It charges and all that, but no interface connection. In other words, no computer, PC, Mac or Linux, recognized it. It doesn't even show up as an unrecognized device. No audio either. That's why I need to use the passimg method.

[Q] JB Root Help

I was running DynamicKat 2.1 and somehow lost SS recovery reboot. In the process of trying to restore it I wiped my phone and had to revert back to MJ5. It is up and running fine but I can't get it to root. I have been to this point a few times but the rldv.zip method from, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715 , I used before isn't working or Klingo Root, which I also used the first time I rooted my Note 3 isn't detecting phone. I just did this a few days ago to get root but for some reason now it isn't working. I need to get root back so I can boot into SS and get back to DynamicKat. Any tips or advice on something i am possibly overlooking this time would be great. Thanks in advance.
Try deleting your current USB drivers, plug in your phone, let Windows reinstall them, and try again. This always worked for me after reverting to MJ5 and Kingo wasn't detecting my phone.

New to rooting, looking for help rooting STOCK D41520C LG-90

Hi, I have never rooted any of my android devices before, and was hoping that I could get some help here as I have yet to find anything online. I have Stock D41520C Firmware on my device and I want to be able to install games directly to my SD card, as my internal memory has reached it's maximum. I'm not looking to install any custom ROM unless absolutely necessary for the process. Any help or walk through would be greatly appreciated as I am a beginner. Thanks
Hi, do you find any solution?
If you don't want to mess with custom recovery, etc, how can use KingRoot. It's a one click apk that roots 20c firmware.
The only problem: it constantly connects some servers (Chinese) and it's not clear why it does it. But there is a script that must be run on command line that actually removes and replace it with SuperSU, but it's not the easiest or safest procedure. To be safe, always backup. You can go back to stock flashing the kdz files (rct tool should report that the phone was rooted though).
