I was flashing on MIUI V4 and was following the instructions. it instructed me to flash on the boot.img after flashing the rom
i proceeded to do so, but the boot.img failed to boot. i had to go do something so i powered my phone off from the bootloader. after that my phone would not turn on at all and the charging light would not turn on while charging. From what i understand the boot.img contains the kernel and the ramdisk? and correct me if i am wrong, but even without a kernel or ramdisk i should be able to boot into recovery or bootloader at least right?
EDIT: yeah thanks guys lol. i just left the battery out for a good minute and it booted back into life, cheers for helping.

Yes you should be able to boot into recovery and bootloader as it doesn't even require an installed boot.img. Only the rom relies on the boot.img to boot up.

Hey Hey,
i´ve got a big problem.
First i unlocked my xperia T.
2nd i flashed this Kernel SiyahKernel-XT Alpha 0.2 to get root acces. -> everything is working fine.
After that i would like to install a custom rom. So i flashed "ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2 for Xperia T" over fastboot and get a bootloop into recovery.
I try to shut down the phone with 10 sec vol + and power.
After shut down i press vol+ and plug usb cable to get in fastboot -> blue led turns on for 10 sec. and then it turns off and the phone charge.
I can´t get in fastboot!!
Can someone help me please..

If you flashed that kernel it already has recovery implemented.
I suggest you flash a stock ftf for your phone from the all in one thread (First thread in the Q&A section) then start again. No need to unlock again, just flash the kernel and then enter recovery and flash your choice of rom
EDIT
If you flash recovery over fastboot then you all you will ever do is enter recovery because you have flashed it to boot. If you flash something in fastboot then thats how your device will boot.

Thank you for your fast reply!!!
The only thing why i want to get in fastboot is to flash Version 3 of this kernel "Advanced Stock Kernel V5 with Cwm. Init.d support and root package" but i don´t find it as an zip file.

kernel's have to be flashed in fastboot. (Why would you flash siyah kernel just to flash this kernel?)
Once you have unlocked the bootloader just flash the kernel of your choice. IMHO siyah kernel is the best for xperia T currently (Including my kernel).
So as i said, flash a stock ftf for your phone, then just flash the kernel of your choice.
Hi.
I've got a problem. In all of the tutorials I read about how to flash ROM:s, it says that I have to flash boot.img through fastboot, then enter recovery and flash the ROM. I can not do this. When I flash the boot.img, I can not enter recovery or anything, I get stuck in a bootloop and have to restore through flashtool. When I flashed Taylor_Swift's 4.3 ROM, I flashed the ROM first and then the boot.img, it worked, I got up and running, but after that I couldn't enter recovery and therefore not obtain root access, making the ROM almost useless because the lack of the Battery Calibration app. Now I want to flash the PAC ROM, but I'm not sure how to do with the boot.img part. If it's relevant I have the lockeddualrecovery as my recovery.
Help please

No special order, really, as long as the kernel (boot.img) is fully compatible with the rom.
I'd flash PAC boot.img first though. Flash boot.img, then enter recovery and flash the zip containing the rom information.
Usually you should flash the boot.img that came inside the rom's zip and it should have a recovery, than you will have to install the rom from the recovery.
Don't forget to factory reset/wipe data inside the recovery.

Hey all.
Long time phone modder so I'm not new to this but this XZ1 has got me stumped.
I can't find anything specifically for recoveries but all ROM install guides I see mention to boot to recovery.
Currently I've got an unlocked bootloader and the ROM and Kernel ready to go.
As far as I know the XZ1 doesn't come with a user-accessible recovery on the stock firmware/kernel.
Now from flashing other ROMs, kernels, recoveries and such I have to come to learn that the boot.img is JUST the kernel, nothing else.
All posts I've read however point to the XZ1 boot.img having the recovery and the kernel all in one spot.
Could someone confirm the process from here or if I'm right regarding the boot.img being kernel AND recovery?
Many thanks.
Enter fast boot mode, them use this
Fastboot flash boot boot.img

So I was correct in assuming the boot.img for the XZ1 contains a recovery as well as a kernel?
How come when I flash the iHackers.img to the boot it won't load up any more. As soon as the cable is removed it stays off and won't come back on. Just flashes a red light and buzzes once. Won't go past that. I can reenter fastboot and flashmode (had to reflash a stock several times due to this not working).
I have also confirmed the MD5 sum matches.

hmm, make sure you have plenty of battery, also you will have to power on the phone and keep pressing volume up until it enters recovery.
If that does not work follow the locked bootloader instructions.
There is no separate partition on sony phones for recovery as they do not come with an accessable factory recovery. All recoveries have to in a custom kernel (For unlocked bootloaders) or installed into system (For locked bootloaders or unlocked bootloaders with a stock kernel)

This is a very unsafe way to have recovery. Isn't it? A recovery should work outside of System Partition to do the job right. Recoveries into Kernel or System do not guarantee if something go wrong to run up when a entire partition can be damage or system corrupted.
Am I wrong?

Well, since xperia phones do not have a recovery partition it is the only way to do it.
Take a look at where dualrecovery install the recovery ramdisks on a locked bootloader...its right in the system partition
system/bin
Its where all xperia recoveries go, unless they are incorporated in the kernel
Its why we lose recovery if we flash a stock FTF, because it formats system..

Flashing Stock FTF will delete partitions in any case, it's the same with HTC.
Why just don't repartitioning the internal memory and install recovery in a specific partition?
So I was restoring the stock boot image so I could flash magisk, and I ran into a bit of a problem. I tried booting it up after flashing, and it's stuck on the boot screen so I'm assuming I flashed a bad boot. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that my volume up button doesnt work meaning I can't boot back into recovery mode/bootloader. Is there a way to get to the bootloader or recovery screen without using the volume up button?
I think you might have accidentally flashed the stock boot image to your recovery. Have you checked the option to flash the boot image and not recovery?

I'm pretty sure I flashed to boot, I can turn it on and it just shows the blu logo. Before I had a custom boot image though and it's not showing that anymore though.
I'm assuming that custom boot image came prerooted right? You might need to flash the rom that came with the custom image to boot. An easier way to get Magisk which I've done is to flash rom, then flash the unSU zip to remove traces of root then you can flash Magisk like normal.

I would do that, except with the volume up button broken I'm unable to get to recovery mode, and without being able to boot into the system I can't use adb
Hi,
Im testing my phone without, NON-TWRP.
After root, and shutdown/restart the phone, the phone boots automaticly to Miui recovery instead of starting the phone normally...
After 10 min, the phone starts in the normall mode with root.
How to fix this that the phone that the phone doesnt boot into recovery mode of Miui?
Reflash tje boot.img from the rom.

If I flash the orginal boot.img of the current rom, then its unrooted. But If I patch the current/boot.img of the current rom and flash it with the modified_magisk_boot.img file, it boot into the bootloop recovery; MUIU Recover 5.0
Ok. Than you have to reflash the rom. I mean its helps.

What do you mean to reflash the rom?
I flashed now the orginal boot.img and now the phone boots but without ROOT.
Now, If i take the orginal boot.img to magisk_modified_boot.img (fastboot flash boot magisk_patched-25200_MSizj.img) then the phone gets in the recovery-MUIU 5.0 Bootloop.
So what am doing wrong?
Patch again the boot.img and flash it trough fastboot.

Same result... the next boot is into the MUIU Recovery bootloop.
