Just came in today and I'm pleased so far with the purchase. It's not a cheap case ($20.00) but it does feel substantial enough to help my tablet survive any reasonable drop. The fit is very snug and the cutouts for the speaker and attachments are perfectly positioned. The power and volume buttons are covered so the feel is soft and activation will have to be deliberate. I'm a little concerned about heating so I'll keep an eye out for that potential issue and report back after a day or so of use. I find the additional weight is noticeable, but it definitely makes it easier for me to hold in the landscape or portrait position.
After several days of my typical use (web browsing, email, short video clips) l haven't seen any reasons for concerns about temperature issues. I remain pleased with this purchase at this time and definitely feel a lot more comfortable that my tablet has the additional protection.
Thanks for the info mine will ship tomorrow. I hope its nicer looking then this amzer case.this case will only provide drop protection on corners and very minor bumps. The Bob case to me seems much stronger and the curves look sleek. My tablet hardly leaves my mind.
Would love to hear more feedback about this case. I am considering this case or the Seidio Active with stand that can hold up to use from a 3 year old and 1 year old.

When my children were that age and if a device like the Nexus 7 existed, their only time with the tablet would have been with adult supervision. Maybe by 5 years of age, but I would pursue a device designed for children's use and safety. JMHO based on raising two boys, for what little that is worth...

ConsumerReports.org has some reviews in an article listed as "Review of tablets for kids" that may or may not be of interest...

I would have to agreee. At that age everything can become a projectile without a hint or warning. Only a cute smile and giggle after sometimes a OOPS.. I have my bobgear case now. I can say it adds alot of protection to the device but even so if you drop it hard and it lands in a way causing the device to twist it will Crack the screen still.. I think the only true protection for these devices is BE CAREFUL. do not drop or abuse them. toddlers are designed by nature to test the limits of anything they get there little fingers on.If its not tied down they will sling it just to see how far it goes. Then expect you to give it back so they can try again...
I have a big issue with Consumer Reports. Its a site that gets money from devices and manufactures to give them ratings. while at the same time expect consumers to pay a premium to see there findings. DOUBLE Dipping. they are as reliable as congress.

Agree with your opinion on CR and toddlers. However, CR listed the most different tablets for children when I googled of all the sites listed. A good starting point for one to do their own due diligence prior to purchase.

Guys I have contacted a few case manufacturers to see if they will produce cases or covers for this tablet as its going to be a popular device I hope they will listen and so do it quick.
I contacted Rock cases that do the quicksand series which is absolutely beautiful, and contacted Beyza cases as they do very elegant designs for good prices.
yeah, of course, in fact, many cases have been produced,

But not of high standard that I come to expect from Rock or Beyza, there is allot of the bulk produced cases which have the same design but different branding but nothing out of the ordinary has been made yet.
I think in the next coming month or so, higher quality/better cases will start to be produced. We just have to be patient

beestee those are too similar bookstyle, there isnt any backcover style that rock does or slip in cases like beza's out there at the mo but I do agree those cases are quality but I dont want to add bulk so I rather the other styles.
It'll take time for the more known manufacturers to decide or make cases for the Nexus 7.
If you want a quality case, just be patient and buy a cheap one for now.

Yeah that what I am thinking of doing, but impatient as always
IMO
Usually, unless for some unforeseen reason, manufacturers have a plethora of case options selling well before an item's release.
Probably, my theory here is; they didn't know when it was coming out, it was all too quick, not enough buzz, they don't see a large market demand, time money invested would be more than their return due to low number of preorders/orders, they didn't get the dimensions/sample early enough to have them ready, considered the existing universal 7" case options would be sufficient.
Consider most screen protector companies didn't even have them ready and became available for preorder after the fact.
I'm trying this one for now: moko case it's relatively cheap, but one of the problems I have with almost all of the cases on the market at the moment is that they wrap the entire bezel, which is just lame. This one at least, is only attaching at a few points. Plus it has the auto wake magnet in the cover (despite the one reviewer's statement that apparently he was shipped the wrong one).
I'll update when I get it.
This one has got my vote so far; but since it won't be in stock until August 20th I'll be looking for other options until then.

Try to hold off as long as possible, remember most places that are taking orders haven't even delivered units yet.
I'd say mid-August early September would be the best time frame to expect an abundance of cases to hit the market.
There may be some reluctance to make an expensive case for a cheap tablet that so far has not been explicitly marketed to the image conscious. It is not really a fashion accessory like an Apple product might be. So they may be waiting to see if the market develops.

Yes! I bought this one (was $3 less at the time). It's not great. N7 slips a slight amount to make the camera hole off, or the sides look angled. Adds some weight. No out-off. I may just buy a pouch, I like the feel with no case much better.
I hope we can all agree that regardless of the technological aspects and software utilised in the gear it may well prove rather moot as that strap may just about last a year? Remember the gear will need to be removed from the wrist several times a day. To charge, to shower, to wash hands with immersion etc. For the life of me and with a vast experience of watches I cannot see that strap lasting long, it feels very poorly constructed from very cheap materials.
The worst point is that strap is an integral part of the watch and cannot be replaced. Some people are spending well over 1K on the Note 3 and the gear and neither of them are worthy of that sort of cash. Such a shame as the ideas are wonderful. Cheap cheap cheap. Chinese penny bazzar looking at prices that would shock a turf accountant!
My first and last purchase without first seeing and feeling the purchase in hand. I made a big mistake. I shall learn from it.

Of course I have one? I purchased the two on a special pre order price. What does that have to do with it?
Oris make wrist bands out of rubber, that rubber is vulcanised and treated to last years like a tyre, Oris even had to add a vanilla scent to the compound as customers started to complain that they smelt of rubber. I am not even sure if the band on the gear is even some sort of rubber of just plastic. I do not think it nylon. I will do my best to find out though.
Regardless of compound it feels cheap and looks even cheaper. I do hope I am proved incorrect, I would be the first to be pleased. Mu opinion is based on pure conjecture and experience of watches.
Kind regards.
It matters because owning one and trying one on would be more believable than just a "I tried it on in the store".
GShocks are about 1-200$ and are rubber or nylon and are pretty bomb proof. Youre comparing $1200 time pieces to this.
If it's cheap then that sucks. But you're making weird comparisons.

I also think that installed battery is not enough. It can be OK if phone works only one day, but watch should works several days (5+). In other case it will be just another gadget that you need to charge frequently. It's annoying for me to change several devices all the time.

I own one period.
Casio G-shock watches. I own about a dozen of them. I have the bottom of the range right up to the top, Watchers in this country are a fortune. I have paid from less than 100.00€ and the maximum for a limited edition imported from Japan was no more than 400.00€
Though I am NOT in the watch trade my family have been for well over 100 years. I have an enormous collection of watches, I was raised with them and have a little knowledge about them. That is not even relevant here as I am posting an opinion, you know one of those things we over this side of the pond are allowed to enjoy without being bullied?
lastly I am making no such comparisons. If I may have an opinion and write about it here before you blow my head off I would just like to comment how I found the watch. I am highly delighted you found it satisfactory and will not suggest you don't own one just because you like it.
If its possible I would enjoy a civil polite debate. If you want to play 'my daddies bigger un yors' then please find another patsy.

I think I understand your point. Something we wear on our wrist makes a statement about who we are. Though I am truly amazed at what the Gear does in terms of software functionality, I am very concerned that its made from rather cheap materials that may not last. I do NOT know this as a fact. We could all be still using the gear Mk1 in 3 years and the strap be just fine. I cannot see into the future.
From what I see with the gear though I think it may have been wiser for Samsung to hang on a few months and at least improve on the IP rating.
Taking the watch off every time we wash hands is going to prove a real challenge.
That camera in certain European countries is going to be the cause of much debate in the very near future.
Time will tell.
Regards.

My Gear works for over 2 days. But agree battery could be better. The benefits of the Gear out weigh the need to charge. Battery is better than most smartphones so not really an issue to charge it every other day.

I turned down the brightness and selected less vibration strength. Also I dont wear my warch to bed so switch off the Gear at night. Using this approach now expect 3 days of use between charges. Probably receive about 5 texts a day and about 20 emails.

So I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would love a waterproof case, me included.
Let's see if we can get our voices heard with one or two manufacturers and hopefully they may start making them for our G2s.
I think we should personally try life proof as I have used there products before and can vouch for them, they are great!
If you have never heard of them then check them out here:
http://www.lifeproof.com/shop/gb_en/?gclid=CJOg5u3UvbsCFfHMtAodSWkAiw
I hope there enough people out there willing to help even if you don't want one yourself, I think getting our voices heard and having different manufacturers making products for us will only open other companies eyes and maybe we will get better support naturally through this! I hope so as I absolutely love this phone, and from what I have seen so do all of you.
If you are up for it then head over here:
http://www.lifeproof.com/en/contact/
And fill in the contact form and just explain how great it would be and how you would love them to make the case and you would definitely purchase them if they started to produce them etc etc.
I hope we get enough support on this!
Liam
I think you're better off just getting your phone treated to be waterproof so you can use whatever case you want, or none at all.
Liquipel and Never Wet are two that come to mind. They cover the device with some sort of vapor that dries and leaves a protective film across it.
I've never used it, but it's an interesting concept. If I were still in the Navy, I'd have done it a long time ago.
Sent from CAMACHO, my Verizon G2 (VS980) running PAC ROM 4.3.
Lifeproof cases are "Splashproof", not "Waterproof". There is a massive difference.
If you want a true Waterproof case you'll probably have to go for a pouch-style case. There are plenty available - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_t...proo&_nkw=lg+g2+waterproof&_sacat=0&_from=R40
There are also a few Splashproof cases available on eBay as well - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_t...proo&_nkw=lg+g2+waterproof&_sacat=0&_from=R40
There are probably more, but these are what I found after about 5 minutes searching.

Liquipel is all well and good but it is not as good as people say. i have seen it not work at all. I have seen a treated device be dunked in water and it was like it was never treated a couple of times now... hence the case idea. atleast you can see its doing something good.

Well I have used lifeproof cases in the past and I can vouch for there quality. I have dunked lifeproof cases with phones inside many a time, I am in the GB whitewater rafting team and have taken phones out with a lifeproof on done underwater recording, kept them in my bouyancy aid all day while training in the water. Im happy with there quality of case and perfectly happy with the waterproof offering.
Recently upgraded my Galaxy S4 to a Note 8, and since I'm a contractor, well... Felt the need for a solid case that is both dustproof and waterproof. My S4 has spent its life in a Seidio Obex case, and I've managed to keep it fairly pristine because of that fact.
The use case for a smart phone for a contractor pretty much implies that the phone is going to see a lot more abuse than average; the implication that follows is that a solid, waterproof/dustproof/drop-proof case is an imperative. Either that, or a very understanding insurance program...
The lack of seals on the case is a deal-breaker when it comes to ruggedized cases. Because of that, I've gravitated towards the ArmorX case, and ordered one for $59.99. They ship from China, and while customer service is excellent with that company, the delay inherent to shipping led me to acquire a cheapie Lanwow case from Amazon for $21.99 while I waited for the ArmorX. The Lanwow waterproof case is a pretty good value for the money, and appears to maintain the water- and dust-proof integrity that I wanted. If you're looking for something to put your phone in while doing something that would require that sort of protection, I'd suggest it.
What's interesting is that when the ArmorX case showed up, it appeared to be a note-for-note copy of the Lanwow case, which I found somewhat annoying. Closer examination shows, however, that the ArmorX version has a bit more in the way of internal bumpers around the buttons, and it has different moldings for grips on the sides of the case. Who copied who, or what the exact provenance of these two cases are, I can't say, but they're basically very similar: A front half that the phone drops into, with a full plastic screen protector, and a back that has the o-ring seal in it. Port access is virtually identical, and you're going to have a bunch of fun prising the S-Pen out of its happy little home, unless you've got some nice, long fingernails. So far, both cases seem to be very similar in format, with flexible plastic backs and very similar screen protectors. I'm pretty happy with them, although I sort of wonder about the price on the ArmorX--The value the company placed on it for customs was $12.00.
Overall, the sound quality hasn't suffered at all--Both cases allow you to hear the speakers quite well, and nobody has complained about what's coming from my end. After I have a bit more time with this case, I'll update this, but so far, so good.
Time will tell, and I'll update on this case. Several others on Amazon seem very similar in design, to the point where I wonder whether or not the same company is producing them.
I am also somewhat dubious as to the protection and durability factor, what with the flexible clear plastic back. I'd have preferred something a bit more substantial, but you get what you get with this design. A thicker and stiffer back wouldn't allow it to flex enough for it to seal properly.
As is, the case isn't that much bigger than the phone, appears to protect it well enough, and fits into the Night-ize XXL Clip Case Hardshell Holster. Between the two, I think I'll be able to keep this phone protected and working damage-free in a fairly harsh environment.
Ultimately, however... I'm probably going to shell out the $300.00 or so for a Juggernaut case, once they're available, and call it good. A thousand-dollar phone needs solid protection around my workplace, and the investment is more than worth it.
Good evening, I wanted to ask you what are the main defects of this case ?? The photos with the flash are perfect ?? The sound that the interlocutors perceive, is it perfect or low? When we speak, do we perceive "eco"? Thanks in advance.

So far, I've found no major defects or game-stoppers with this case. The pictures taken with it are more than adequate, the flash works, and the sound is fine, without echo.
Overall, I think this is a good, solid design. It works with a Samsung wireless charger, although it does make placement a bit finicky. Also, removal of the on-phone stylus may be a bit of an issue, but since I mostly use another stylus for working with it, due to my preference to a larger size, I personally don't have a problem with that fact.
I think this is an excellent case, for what it is. I'm still likely to move over to Juggernaut, should they ever get a Note 8 case out on the market, but that's due to a desire for having something as bombproof and durable as possible.
Phone manufacturers are really missing a bet, by not building really well-ruggedized designs in the first place. The old Casio g'Zone phones had a market niche, and it's one that hasn't really been filled to anyone's satisfaction.

True, that... But, which is cheaper? A $300.00 milspec case that could probably be dropped out of a C-130 during airborne operations and still have the phone inside be functional (true story related to me by an end-user of one of their products--They used the "find my phone" app to locate the damn thing on the drop zone. Case was scratched, phone inside still completely intact...), or buying a new phone every time something happens to it?
They don't make ruggedized phones with Note 8 features. So, the only option is, buy a case that gives you the durability and ruggedness you need, while letting Samsung provide the phone...
One of these days, the manufacturers will get their acts together on this, and start building phones that aren't fragile little technologic flowers. Something about like the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-X1, but with state-of-the-art OS and hardware and an affordable price...
Thanks so much!!! What are the best or worst things compared to "Lanwow"?

I keep hoping someone will start looking at this market segment again, and doing something original. I'd be happy if someone just started building their damn consumer phones with an eye towards integrating them with a ruggedized case, and then built from there. There's a lot of stuff that's less than optimal, when you look at how the phones integrate into the cases, which the manufacturers could easily rectify--If they were interested.
Problem is, the market isn't entirely rational. Too many folks want to have their "fashion phones", with all the bling, and too few want the features with the durability. As well, the market for "rugged' is too small and niche-oriented, like with the Panasonic line.
Still don't understand why Panasonic isn't marketing the hell out of their ToughPad line of phones, though--If they were available, and reasonably priced, well... I think they'd sell a lot of 'em.
Thanks so much!!! What are the best or worst things compared to "Lanwow"?

Schnail Titan for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Case (2020 Screenless Version), Military Grade Drop Tested Heavy Duty Full Body Protective Case with Kickstand - Black
Review posted to Amazon:
I don't mean to brag, but I'm a pretty tough guy. Work in the construction industry, do deadlifts for fun, intimidate most humans, and have the size and skill to back it up. Therefore, I need a tough phone case for my delicate phone. I don't have time for cracked screens or damaged phones so I decided to try out this Schnail Titan case, well because of how durable it looked but also the name TITAN! That fits my giant ego. I've dropped my phone twice by accident while messing with equipment with the other hand and both times the phone survived the fall. I'm 6'3" so the fall was from over 5-ft onto hard concrete/stone flooring. If it can survive the rigors of my life, then it can survive the non-rigors of yours.
The only slight negatives are as follows. I wish the top of the case sloped more so that when I go to lower the drop down menu with my finger it doesn't open the apps menu. If you don't know this, the new Android OS lets you swipe down on the screen to open the apps drawer. Also, I could use a little more rubber on the back side to give it more of a grip when placed face up on my diesel truck center console. Yes, I drive a diesel, but I don't hate the Earth. I use DEF. Instead of a plastic frame around the phone before inserting it into the rubberized case, I wish it was just a plastic top and bottom that inserted into rubber to add more protection. Not that it needs it, but would be easier for installation.
Bottom line. If you have clumsy hands, or really want to protect your new $1500 phone, then GET THIS CASE!

I've called out the other "reviews' shilling for this product - but this is by far the worst. You are not only aiding and abetting an unethical marketing ploy to promote a product across various forums through inherently biased "reviews" generated by promotional discounts (something you should always disclose if you want to appear even remotely ethical) - but you chose to do it in a racist ("the Koreans at Samsung haven't figured out how to be "tough American men" like in the US") and extremely obnoxious (too many examples to list) manner - reported.

While I agree the review was extremely obnoxious I don't agree with you reporting the original post of the person offering the cases. They are not selling anything. They are giving cases out free to XDA members for reviews. They have been doing this exact same thing for a while now for various phones so obviously XDA doesn't have a problem with it. Leave them out of this.

Fair enough, @znel52 - while I disagree that giving away cases for reviews is 'not selling anything' (advertising is selling, it's a form of advertising, and a highly questionable form at that) - your point is well taken, and I've edited my responses accordingly.
I didn't follow through with the offer for a free case as the supplier was clearly lying. Their materials state they are a small american family owned company - but they must not speak English to well and the case is far to close to other designs to be original. They also required you to buy a note 20 case as well, no thanks.
