Anyone know about cops got a question - Off-topic

Simply put, if a retired cop attempts to pull you over and play cop is that illegal? Plus, wouldn't his jurisdiction be ZERO since he's retired? Had one try and flex muscle with me today and was completely out of line.
Cliff notes: Guy probably near 85 years old driving wildly, I push it to get away from him, then he tries to tell me I'm the crazy one behind the wheel pulls a badge and a retired cop card thing.
Nothing happened afterwards but just curious...

Sue that fool that is completly illegal.

You should have called the police on him. A retired cop has no right to pull you over. I bet you we're Wondering why a random car was chasing you down. If you got his name or license tag, I would report him if i were you.

Before you do anything, make sure he isn't a Reserve officer or deputy. A large amount of law enforcement departments hire retired officers on a reserve-only basis. They work only part time, but many are still sworn officers with arrest power.

This guy was close to 80-85 years old hardly active. He showed me a badge so I pulled over initially. Then he showed me his credentials in which it clearly said RETIRED on it.
He just kept yelling at me I told him to lower his voice. Eventually we went our separate ways. I was tempted to record him off my phone and then call the real cops on him but figured I have better things to do.
He was swerving his car next to me so I naturally accelerate by him at a good clip and try and keep my distance from him but he just kept tailing me and with his maneuvers you could hear his tires screetch at times. Almost hit my car twice.

Card83 is right about being a reserve cop. Also, depending on how high up they made it before retiring, some get to keep credentials (ie, sheriff for twenty years, still has pull after retirement).

If you got his name, call the cops and make a report.
That'll get the incident on record. He broke the law afaik.

Ditto what was stated above. I myself am a LEO. There is a reason we typically drive marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights on them. This type of behavior can be confusing, not to mention outright dangerous for all parties involved. I'd go make a report and cover yourself. Also, if this man has made a habit of doing this type thing in the past and has ever been called on it before, his nuts could really end up in a vice. The best thing he could have done was pick up the phone and call the police and let it ride from there.
Sent using my HTC EVO 4G and a magic wand

If a police officer (especially if it's an Off-duty or retired one) oversteps their bounds you should definitely report it. That's the only tool we as regular citizens have to keep them from abusing their power. If the Police Station is no help (unlikely) you can call your local news, contact blogs and use the internet to spread the story.

Decided I wanted to expand on that since I hate to think anybody would be clueless as to their rights in the event they interact with a LEO.
"Probable cause" is anything that gives the Officer reason to suspect you are or have committed a crime. A classic trick of crooked cops is to say that the smell marijuana which gives them probable cause since that there may mean there are drugs in your possession.
1. They do not have the right to give you anymore than a basic pat down to check for weapons/paraphernalia without probable cause.
2. They do not have the right to search your vehicle without probable cause. If asked make it clear that you do not consent to search and lock the door to your car if you get out.
3. Miranda rights will not be read to you unless you are actually being arrested but remember your right to plead the 5th until you have legal counsel. They are capable of using your words against you if you say something that might incriminate yourself.
4. You have the right to speak to the LEO through your window without opening your door. You can also tell them to have their department call you if they need to speak to you. Unless they have a search warrant they do not have the right to invite themselves in.
5. They do not have the right to go through your phone and if there is a passcode lock you are not obligated to give it to them.

Phone Taken Away And Im Pissed

So i was in school and i was caught texting due to the tilt being so damn big. I was in the cafeteria and a teacher came up behind me and snatched my phone. Good thing this is my first time getting caught because its 1 day without my phone and a parent has to come and pick it up. Second offense is 3 weeks and a parent comes and gets it and the third offense is they keep the phone until the end of the year. This sucks. I feel so lost without it.
ROFL.. i would of ****ign stabbed a ***** if she grabbed my phone.. u kno they probli took it and played around with it n ****
I pull the whole, I was writing down HW that a friend gave me, so that I wouldnt forget, its a PDA too ya know...
And thier like, Oh, get really red (Because ive taught all me friends to stare at the teacher meanacingly if any of us gets out phone taken away) and the PDAhone is returned.

sounds like crappy public schools of america. I'm glad my high school years are long and far behind me...this is one of the reasons college kicks hard core ass.
they have no right to take your phone for that long...only unless you signed something that allows them to hold it, but other then that, they cant do that...sue them mofos
The suckage...
My school sucks just as much if not more. They see a phone out, its instant detention, 3 demerits, and its taken away for 2 weeks! Oh and 18 demerits is an expulsion. Oh and for some reason, havin a PDA in class constitutes cheating becasue of what it can do!? and thats 6 extra demerits and 2 detentions! Yeah America needs to wake up and stop stereotyping people who actually care about not having a $1 piece of crap as their phone!!!
American Kids need to man up & stop being little girly sissies. "Oh, the big bad teacher took my phone, boohoo."
It called a rule. You know it's there. You chose to either follow it or not. If not, you know the consequences, so deal with it & quit whining.
The one thing I'll give you credit for??? Thank God you weren't dumb enough to post this waste of space in the Development thread.
wait they took it for 2 weeks? yo F that i would deff slice the principals throat while laughing.
No they only took it for today i get it tomorrow. If i get caught again its 3 weeks. It sucks major. These are the times i wish i had put a pw on my phone. I havent because i usually have it and its a hassle to type in a pw everytime i look at my phone so i didnt. But oh how i wish i have. It sucks.
I think that there should be a crossroads
I also attend a High School with such rules, i just dont understand why they get so damn anal about it.
In Orange County Pubilc Schools the stupid rule is as follows:
-If I See It, Or Hear It, (Even if it attached to your belt) I Take It.
Why cant they get that most high school students, and now middle schoolers have phones. One thing is to be texting in the middle of Algebra Class, but why cant i check my messages at lunch or passing time. Why cant i make that quick call between classes or at lunch. But yet, here is the irony, ADMINS AND TEACHERS USE THEM IN FRONT OF US ALL THE TIME!!!!!!, but yet if i carry my tilt in my belt pouch, and if they see the pouch, they get all stupid about it. They want us to hide it, (as if it was illegal to carry one??).
this should probably be moved to off topic or else where.
When i was in highschool they tried to implement a rule like that, where if you were caught with your phone they'd take it away and a parent had to come pick it up. BUT a group of kids and parents got together and went against it. The school ended up not enforcing the rule because of all the highschool shootings most of the 911 calls came from students with cell phones in the school. The students were also able to call 911 before the school did in several cases.
So they just implented a rule that you cant talk/text during class. if you were texting in the hallway or cafeteria a teacher would just tell you to put it away.
One dickhead teacher use to attempt to confiscate them... then his tires got slashed... he wasn't that much of a dickhead after that
Also speaking of cheating.. When the nokie 3650 first came out (one of the first camera BT phones) a couple of friends and I had them and one person would sit in the hallway next to the class i was in and during an exam i'd covertly snap a pic of the test page and bluetooth the pic to my "corespondent" then he'd look up the answers and text them back ... or i'd take pics of the text book and zoom and pan through the pic for answers
oh ya i didnt know where to post it. I just saw kaiser general and figured this was the spot. But i was in the cafeteria and had it under the table and its just so lame. Gimme a break.
that sucks, at my school of corse your not supposed to use your phone in class, but thats it. during passing period, lunch, before or after class, you can use it.
however one time my teacher saw my phone when i had the camera app up, she asked "is that a cell phone or camera?" i knew she wouldnt have cared if i said it was a phone, shed just tell me to put it away, but i said it was a camera and showed her. she thought it was, lol.
well im in southern cali as well and i have never had anything like that happen to me. i would give them the shaking im gonna kill you and everyone you know look and would get off with a warning. i just dont let people take things from me, be it a pda or pen or anything. however if you are as violent and selfish as me you should try and follow the rules if you know you will have this reaction. just my .02 cents.
oh and the guy crackin on americans, kinda rude bro, theres no need for that here. but then again this post should prob be moved but whatever. sorry to hear bout your tilt, just be sneaky next time or face the same result.
I can see high school hasn't changed a bit since I've been there. They teach you all about freedom yet it's more of a police state than North Korea. The only loophole was the TI graphing calculators. They were not necessary for our studies but they were the one device that could play games that wasn't banned. They tried to incorporate them into math class but the teachers could't use them.
HAHA yeah In my Jr. year of high school. We had a sub for my psychology class. I had my nintendo ds out and she made me put it away. So I did. Later 10 min b4 the bell when we were not doing anything I placed it ontop of my desk with all of my books and sat there. The teacher came over and placed her hand on my ds. I imedantly grabbed her hand and threw it off of my ds. I then threw my books and told her to fu** off.
LoL that was just for my ds.....
WTF???
"more of a police state than North Korea"? Yeah... I'm sure North Korean peasant families surviving on subsistence rations, a few hours of electricity a day, and being kept from seeking a better life elsewhere at the point of a gun are looking at you guys and saying "Well, at least we're not attending an American high school."

LoL, I just graduated from High School in a OCPS school, last year, they tried to pull the same thing my senior year because they saw my phone on my belt clip, and attempted to take it away, the loop hole in this one is they CANNOT take items over $150 in pricing because, its consider a liability if they loose it while its in their hands, but since they never inform students on that, and only inform students WHAT THEY CANT DO, and not the rights they have while attending school, its easy for them to get away with alot of it, just like (for OCPS schools anyway) a administrator cannot search your personal belongings, only your locker, only a administrator that is accompanied by law enforment. There is a website on the OCPS website somewhere that shows state statues for students rights, just sad a student has to find them to use them, but I guess its a fight to not get pushed around by school administrators that like to abuse their power more then others. So bottom line, if your in a OCPS school, you can fight it, you need to provide some proof though of the phone cost, and deny there attempt to take the phone, they will make you leave for the day for insubordination, but I think its better that then to leave a expensive phone in the hand of idiots as it is.
Friends,
Couldn't pass this up and not posting on this thread.
There are pro's and con's to using technology at all levels school, business, and socializing. The problem here is that the school's objective is to teach w/o interuptions of cell phones ringing, someone sending pictures of test questions (interesting though) and reducing theft issue's. Many students who break these rules ruin it for everyone else because of how it can help students that do have respect.
This also applies in the business world as well - If your in a meeting with the ceo, co-workers you want to be respectifull and not break the concentration of the meeting. Same with companies that are specific to what phones can be used and at what time. Most government companies will not allow pda's - camera's, voice recorders etc. Same principle - school/business.
Rule is a rule which has to be abided by. If abused then the school has the right to enforce their policy. We all have to live by rules and regulations.
The technology is cool and can be used to help students, but when the rules are not followed by everyone - this is the cause in effect.
I do think that having the phone in your locker, backpack - sound turned off is legitimate. During recess, lunch cool to use the phone.

If that wasn't enough to already make you understand I'll elaborate
-Car broken into 3 times took head unit all my cds and all my change plus cost of windows over 500 bucks (I leave my car completely empty now not even trash)
-House robbed 2 weeks after I moved here, took my 42" LCD, my xbox360, my laptop and monitor...how the hell hey carried all that out with no one seeing or reporting anything is beyond me.
but i learned my lesson, I have better car insurance and renters insurance now so I'm good...
Its really painful....what about the insurance???
Damn dude, that is the one thing I am worrying about. I think they were casing the neighborhood. I live in a house behind another house, my little house could be confused for a storage area (it however does look like a mini house). Anyways my neighbor ( the one in front of me) has been on vacation for a week or two so it looks like no one is home. I hope they don't try to break in to my place at least not while I am there.

I feel your pain bud but, I have a somewhat contraversial view .... read on and follow me.
About 8 years ago I had a BRAND SPANKING new YZF-R6 - about 6 n 'alf grands worth of 600cc supersports bike parked outside my house. Along came a bunch of kids (16/17 year olds) who started wheeling it off down the road without my knowledge. Anyway, they were chased off by a neighbour. You can imagine my anger and rage. The police came over and said they could do nothing even though they knew who had tried it - hence, they told us there ages. The copper said to me:
"I wish they'd stolen your bike"
"Why?"
"They are only 16/17 years old and with a bike like that, we'd be one less bike thief in the world"
Ya know what, I *almost* agreed with him - except it would of been MY bike.
The law is there to protect yourself as well as others. People aged 16/17 do not have the maturity to handle a bike like that ..... and it was proved ..... read on ....
Walking home from the pub a few nights later a fast road round the corner was closed. Blow me, someones smashed up a Fireblade (at the time, 900cc superbike). The wreckage of the bike was there, a bent lamp post and a couple of coppers. Turns out the rider had died.
That week in my local newspaper:
"On XXXday night, a 16 year old kid dies on xxx road riding his own moped"
Yeap this was the incident that closed the road. It clearly WASN'T a moped, it clearly WASN'T HIS bike (he wasn't old enough) and why the f*&K did the paper lie about it? Oh, I also found out a few days later that it was one of the kids that tried to steal my bike.
Contraversial bit coming up:
Darwin ruled over the rider and judged him inelligable to breed, removing him from the gene pool. Ever since then i've been a big fan of Darwin, specialy when it comes to car/bike thieves - even now, I can feel my blood boiling, face going red.... hope these thieves all get whats coming to them, painfully, just not taking out innocent by-standers in the process.
:O ouch. I'm only 15 and I was thinking of getting a suzuki gsx 600 next year when I get my license. It's not that hard to control. It's just that people are too stupid and they HAVE to show off somehow and lose control and crash...smart.

Even though a GSX-F (i'm assuming you don't mean GSX-R) is old, its still very fast for a new passer. Not sure what country your from but when I passed my test a GSX-F 600, for that matter any 600, you need needed to be 21 years old here in the uk. Thats for a reason and a very good one.
If you think its not that hard to control and treat it with that candid attitude then, you will be in hospital... if your lucky.

"Fantastic" service by HTC Singapore

/rant
First of all, let me say that I really envy the American HTC users who seem extremely satisfied with HTC on that side of the globe. Unfortunately, it seems that even after owning HTC phones for the last 4 years, I havent learnt my lesson that HTC Singapore is truly incapable.
My nexus one started developing an erratic screen and it was to the point where i couldnt even type a message properly without having to power cycle the device to set the screen straight. I called them on the 11th of Aug to send it in (they pick up the devices here from you, so a little kudos there), however, they were unable to supply me a loaner. They said if i sent it for repair in 2 weeks, they would be able to help me out, so I waited. On the 23rd, I called them to check, and lo and behold, the service rep says they have no loaner phones at all, and will not be able to help. I figure what the heck, time to dust off the old winmo touch pro and just send the nexus one in ... the tech promises me a 3-5day turn around. 1 week later I call them up, and the tech tells me they had a problem sourcing screens, and would need to hold on to my phone "indefinitely" ... I asked him if he was off his rocker and since I had work to attend to, I left it at that. I fired off an email at night to their customer service email address, and get a reply that it will be taken care off. Literally the next day, I get an email saying my phone is ready, and it will be couriered to me the next day. I was impressed. Needless to say, when i received my phone yesterday, I was in for a rude shock... (point to note: when I sent in my phone, even the courier remarked that my phone didnt have a single scratch anywhere on it) they had sent me the phone with the screen protector half peeled off (they didnt even have the decency to replace it since they ripped it off, but i figured since they replaced the screen, it was worth it) .. i look around the phone, and there's now a scratch right next to volume rocker. Since it was the same courier who picked up the phone, he told me to send them an email, since he himself recalled there were no scratches ... I told myself for a 6mth old phone, I could live with the scratch .. I power cycle the phone and ...
the bloody screen was still erratic! they had simple reset my phone to factory (which i had already tried, in order to get rid of the problem) and sent it back to me (since i recalled that they said they didnt have the screen in stock anyway) ... so now i am, more than a week with the phone in their hands, and nothing to show for it except a scratched nexus one with a peeling screen protector. to add insult to injury, i contacted them and was told someone would call to rectify the situation ... which obviously no one has now ...
it really sucks because i really enjoy this phone ... i bought 2 - one for the girlfriend and one for myself, and hers works perfectly fine, so i know my screen's just nuts ... now the hard part is getting the "fantastic" guys over @ HTC to fix it again, since they still said they have no loaners at all ... *sigh*
Has anyone ever had any good experiences with HTC Singapore??
if you made it this far, thanks .. i had to rant somewhere .. ><

I feel your pain. I've had utterly horrible encounters with HTC Singapore as well. Not just me but a buddy of mine too. We should start a FB group saying what we really think about their support. Maybe that might generate enough negative publicity for them to fire their staff and do a 180.
Best we can do is just not buy their products. I'm already telling my friends to get samsung or motorola phones from now on.

let me be straightforward with you caysman - i have no qualms rewarding when service is met or exceeded ... i believe i may be one of the few singaporeans who tips everywhere he goes. whether its a kopitiam, starbucks or your neighbourhood restaurant. i have no problem throwing down $10 for a $50 meal if i enjoyed the service. likewise with the attitude ... i sent caltex a letter commending the guy who pumps gas at my regular station because he always went out of his way to be polite (and if you would like to see the letter, by all means, ask). not every singaporean only complains ... i spent a good sum on an exotic supercar .. the service is immaculate, even though the warranty's been up for more than 3 years. the dealer cares enough about his customers that he will wake up at 5am to attend to a customer's problem if he has to. is it so much to ask that if i buy the top of the line htc cellphone, that they honor their warranty at the least? all i asked was for a functioning screen, i did not root the phone or do anything crazy with it - all it has to do is work fine. i didnt complain till it came back to me in the same condition that i sent it in.
so while your outlook on singaporeans may be pretty poor for reasons unknown to me, it wouldnt be fair to generalize.
Boastful singaporean, where is your grace?
Acting like god, rewarding when you see fit? The arrogance off it all just as you buy your first lambo (novelty still there to boast about it huh?)

Oops you probably have a red ferrari, not a lambo. Pendants usually go for Fs. Enough money to buy the perfect life not knowing that with todays technology,' good enough' is the secret to true happiness.
And u bought the nexus one not for its technology but for its exclusivity. Most of your dumb potters have iphones.
And some in my posts lie the nugget of truth describing the cancer in the world's second richest country.

well, its painfully obvious now to me ... with you, "cannot win" ... since you have to be right about everything and have your own ideas set in stone - you are welcome to them. but please dont force your ideas of what others would like to do / purchase with their own money. do what you like with your money and perceive everything as you will, but being bitter about it and telling people off because they worked hard to buy certain things just goes to show what kind of person you truly are. if you have any more "useful" nuggets of information, feel free to pm me and spare everyone else your posts. i have no problem debating this matter with you but if you are unable to contribute to the thread, please stop making it go off topic.

Boastful singaporean, where is your grace?
Acting like god, rewarding when you see fit? The arrogance off it all just as you buy your first lambo (novelty still there to boast about it huh?)

wow, so much hate for singaporean. Did one of them kill your relatives or something? lol
@mokurex I am very familar with the Singaporean people.
@xevilutionx off topic? How did EXOTIC SUPERCARS get into the thread
[all other crap by me deleted. I don't want to fight anymore]
@mokurex: well caysman is probably singaporean / living in singapore, not sure what his game is but oh well.
@caysman: its called an example, since you allowed yourself the opportunity to generalize an entire country / populace based on your beliefs.
again, as you pointed out, no point to argue since you have your ideas and i have mine. think of me as you wish, since its obvious i have nothing i can say that would change your mentality.
@bullyfrog: while the idea of a fb group sounds good, the problem is that HTC may be outsourcing its repair services here... hence the differentiation in levels of service between usa and singapore, for example.
@x You take part in that pathetic singaporean thread at ferrarichat?

again, you're off topic, but i'll humor you. never posted there before, never will. you're more than welcome to check ip addresses if you have the time. i also don't have a customized "vanity" plate (since you have a 1 track mind, im pretty sure you've already assumed this), i just took whatever random number that was issued.
again, its obvious you are bitter about something. stop going off topic, use the PM function if you really have so many burning questions you wish to interrogate me about. stop bringing your political bs here, or move it along to some political thread. jesus christ.

He Dies because of budget cuts ?

Wow, I live in this city, this guy dies a slow death and the fire and police dept watch......... then blame it on rules and budget cuts.........
... I need to get out of here...

Wow that is some messed up crap. None of those first responders had the balls to defy orders in order to save that man's life. Heroes...yeah right
A city on the bay and you cut water rescue? And no balls is right!
Sickening isn't it? Any two people, whether emergency service personnel or bystander, could have effected a safe rescue using nothing more than a length of rope. One of them would have to get wet but they'd be safely anchored and could have saved a life.
Check out this one. (Helping out a fellow man).

Yup DirkGentry, stupid That area of the bay is shallow it is nothing to get out there and on top of that the sail-surfers are right next store not like you couldn't get a surfboard..... such lame BS, this is a case I hope they get sued over.
We had something similar over here (except it was down to jobsworths not any cuts) where two plastic policemen (Police Community Support Officers - civilians in uniforms with notebook and pen) refused to go into a lake to try and save someone's life on health and safety grounds.
THAT IS CRAZY THEY SAID SINCE THE CUTS, THEY WERE NOT TRAINED FOR THAT RESCUE IM A MEDIC AND LET ME TELL YOU I CANT SIT BACK AND WATCH PPL DIE, WITH THAT SAID YOU ARE TRAINED TO NOT RISK YOUR OWN LIFE BUT WE RISK OUR LIVES EVERY DAY IN MANY WAYS. ITS CALLED A LIFE JACKET THEY SHLD HAVE TRIED ANYTHING AND NOT JUST STOOD THERE. OH YEA AND THE CUTS WERE PUT BACK THE NEXT DAY SUCH CRAP
Welcome to the New state of affairs in the US. Its only getting worse.

Almost lost Nexus 7 to thief at Starbucks

Learn from my mistake and never leave your Nexus 7 unattended.
Left my Nexus 7 on my chair at Starbucks and stepped away for a few seconds to throw trash away. Noticed in my peripheral view someone sitting down in my chair then immediately get up to head towards the door and my Nexus 7 in its sleeve was missing. Spun him around before he could make it out the door and snatched my Nexus 7 back which was hidden under his jacket under his left arm. It's like 90 degrees outside so the jacket was obviously suspicious.
Wow, at least you got it back. What did the person say when you snatched it back? Lastly, curious to know what city area this was in -
Taking care of your own device is your responsibility. But accidents and assholes appear everywhere. So, its a nice idea to install a reliable anti-theft app too.

Definitely - there are many out there, but I would recommend this one : Cerberus Anti-Theft - excellent and fast response support from the developer too. Rooted device extra features, May also consider an application protection addon-app to protect it from being uninstalled.

If that was me, dude would have been getting a free ride to the hospital.
You shouldn't have worried, he would have seen the 1mm of screen lift and returned it.
I know things like this happen all the time, but when it happens to you it really kills your faith in people, eh...
I would have put that person through the door and waited for the police. I have Android Lost setup and I would love to see someone steal any of my devices.
You gotta tell us what the guy did. I would have taken him to the ground and called the police.
Regardless of where it happened you're going to run into thieves anywhere. Ironically, I always keep it with me except for that one time because the trash can was only steps/seconds away. Lesson learned that thieves eye your property and are quick when the opportunity arise. He said something to the effect that "he just sat down" (whatever) and was apologetic but probably not because he was sorry but because the incident attracted attention so there were eye witnesses and he was on camera so he probably realized he was better off scurrying off with tail between his leg rather than resist and wait for the police to show up. Get the feeling he's a seasoned Starbucks property snagger so he'll probably be back another day to target others. Thanks for the tips on the post-theft apps. Fortunately, I had pattern screen lock enabled to protect personal info/data and prevent unauthorized Google Play purchases.
If someone comes to your table asking for directions then puts a big map down on the table, they're after your phone, or your tablet, or whatever else is under the map. I've seen this scam worked in Starbucks.

I hope you made a scene and made him very uncomfortable so he doesn't come back to the same Starbucks anytime soon. The Starbucks I frequent has the same regulars, we all visit at roughly the same hours, work from Starbucks, and we all look out for each other. What a scumbag, he knew what he was doing.
Don't leave your anything unattended.
Life lesson learned.
This is a good reason why it is always a good idea to install an anti theft app or some form of mechanism.
Makes me lose faith in humanity when I hear these stories.
This is why I'm always skeptical of people in general when I'm out in public. Being naive only gets you in odd positions.

Obviously we should all be hostile to each other because of the few.
I'll be a less paranoid and more outgoing person and risk losing those $$$. No one ever died losing 200$ or 1000$.
Dude you gotta be more careful. The Nexus 7 is so small you can just stick it in your pocket. That is what I did last night when I was at the movie theater watching the 2012 DCI Drumcorps show. It was almost 6 hours long so when I went to the bathroom I took my Nexus with me. Heck you could even tuck it under your arm if you had it in a case.
At least now you will be triple careful .... until the next time that is.
I have a friend who works at a local middle school here in Northern VA and the school tells all of the parents, "do not have your kid bring cellphone, games, tablets to school or if you do lock them up in your locker." They are routinely stolen and the parents come in complaining.
I bet he thought it was an iPad. Because the current Apple v Samsung trial has shown me stupid people think everything is an iPad.

Funny story, when I first got my SGT7, i decided to walk down to a friend's house at night. I didn't pull the tab out of my pocket until I was almost to his house, but shortly after I pulled it out, some kid ran over to me pretending he had a gun. Turns out he thought I was someone else, we had our laughs, and he happened to also be heading to the same house as me
I would of held him in Starbucks waiting for police to arrive to arrest him. What he did was a crime. Took something that did not belong to him. He should be punished.

You were very diplomatic.
All I can say is if it was me, it would have been his unlucky day!
