First of all, let me say that I really envy the American HTC users who seem extremely satisfied with HTC on that side of the globe. Unfortunately, it seems that even after owning HTC phones for the last 4 years, I havent learnt my lesson that HTC Singapore is truly incapable.
My nexus one started developing an erratic screen and it was to the point where i couldnt even type a message properly without having to power cycle the device to set the screen straight. I called them on the 11th of Aug to send it in (they pick up the devices here from you, so a little kudos there), however, they were unable to supply me a loaner. They said if i sent it for repair in 2 weeks, they would be able to help me out, so I waited. On the 23rd, I called them to check, and lo and behold, the service rep says they have no loaner phones at all, and will not be able to help. I figure what the heck, time to dust off the old winmo touch pro and just send the nexus one in ... the tech promises me a 3-5day turn around. 1 week later I call them up, and the tech tells me they had a problem sourcing screens, and would need to hold on to my phone "indefinitely" ... I asked him if he was off his rocker and since I had work to attend to, I left it at that. I fired off an email at night to their customer service email address, and get a reply that it will be taken care off. Literally the next day, I get an email saying my phone is ready, and it will be couriered to me the next day. I was impressed. Needless to say, when i received my phone yesterday, I was in for a rude shock... (point to note: when I sent in my phone, even the courier remarked that my phone didnt have a single scratch anywhere on it) they had sent me the phone with the screen protector half peeled off (they didnt even have the decency to replace it since they ripped it off, but i figured since they replaced the screen, it was worth it) .. i look around the phone, and there's now a scratch right next to volume rocker. Since it was the same courier who picked up the phone, he told me to send them an email, since he himself recalled there were no scratches ... I told myself for a 6mth old phone, I could live with the scratch .. I power cycle the phone and ...
the bloody screen was still erratic! they had simple reset my phone to factory (which i had already tried, in order to get rid of the problem) and sent it back to me (since i recalled that they said they didnt have the screen in stock anyway) ... so now i am, more than a week with the phone in their hands, and nothing to show for it except a scratched nexus one with a peeling screen protector. to add insult to injury, i contacted them and was told someone would call to rectify the situation ... which obviously no one has now ...
it really sucks because i really enjoy this phone ... i bought 2 - one for the girlfriend and one for myself, and hers works perfectly fine, so i know my screen's just nuts ... now the hard part is getting the "fantastic" guys over @ HTC to fix it again, since they still said they have no loaners at all ... *sigh*
Has anyone ever had any good experiences with HTC Singapore??
if you made it this far, thanks .. i had to rant somewhere .. ><

I feel your pain. I've had utterly horrible encounters with HTC Singapore as well. Not just me but a buddy of mine too. We should start a FB group saying what we really think about their support. Maybe that might generate enough negative publicity for them to fire their staff and do a 180.
Best we can do is just not buy their products. I'm already telling my friends to get samsung or motorola phones from now on.

let me be straightforward with you caysman - i have no qualms rewarding when service is met or exceeded ... i believe i may be one of the few singaporeans who tips everywhere he goes. whether its a kopitiam, starbucks or your neighbourhood restaurant. i have no problem throwing down $10 for a $50 meal if i enjoyed the service. likewise with the attitude ... i sent caltex a letter commending the guy who pumps gas at my regular station because he always went out of his way to be polite (and if you would like to see the letter, by all means, ask). not every singaporean only complains ... i spent a good sum on an exotic supercar .. the service is immaculate, even though the warranty's been up for more than 3 years. the dealer cares enough about his customers that he will wake up at 5am to attend to a customer's problem if he has to. is it so much to ask that if i buy the top of the line htc cellphone, that they honor their warranty at the least? all i asked was for a functioning screen, i did not root the phone or do anything crazy with it - all it has to do is work fine. i didnt complain till it came back to me in the same condition that i sent it in.
so while your outlook on singaporeans may be pretty poor for reasons unknown to me, it wouldnt be fair to generalize.
Boastful singaporean, where is your grace?
Acting like god, rewarding when you see fit? The arrogance off it all just as you buy your first lambo (novelty still there to boast about it huh?)

Oops you probably have a red ferrari, not a lambo. Pendants usually go for Fs. Enough money to buy the perfect life not knowing that with todays technology,' good enough' is the secret to true happiness.
And u bought the nexus one not for its technology but for its exclusivity. Most of your dumb potters have iphones.
And some in my posts lie the nugget of truth describing the cancer in the world's second richest country.

well, its painfully obvious now to me ... with you, "cannot win" ... since you have to be right about everything and have your own ideas set in stone - you are welcome to them. but please dont force your ideas of what others would like to do / purchase with their own money. do what you like with your money and perceive everything as you will, but being bitter about it and telling people off because they worked hard to buy certain things just goes to show what kind of person you truly are. if you have any more "useful" nuggets of information, feel free to pm me and spare everyone else your posts. i have no problem debating this matter with you but if you are unable to contribute to the thread, please stop making it go off topic.

wow, so much hate for singaporean. Did one of them kill your relatives or something? lol
@mokurex I am very familar with the Singaporean people.
@xevilutionx off topic? How did EXOTIC SUPERCARS get into the thread
[all other crap by me deleted. I don't want to fight anymore]
@mokurex: well caysman is probably singaporean / living in singapore, not sure what his game is but oh well.
@caysman: its called an example, since you allowed yourself the opportunity to generalize an entire country / populace based on your beliefs.
again, as you pointed out, no point to argue since you have your ideas and i have mine. think of me as you wish, since its obvious i have nothing i can say that would change your mentality.
@bullyfrog: while the idea of a fb group sounds good, the problem is that HTC may be outsourcing its repair services here... hence the differentiation in levels of service between usa and singapore, for example.
@x You take part in that pathetic singaporean thread at ferrarichat?

I fear that I will do something hasty like blow up my 8525 and go back to a razor and be done with it. Today, yet another let down, the 25th and no tilt, but I hear it will be out the 7th, oh wait maybe November or maybe Christmas. I have an idea, maybe all of those that are thinking of pulling another release date out of your ass you could show this message to a friend or family member. I say this because I would like them to break your fingers so you cannot type this **** anymore. Losing my f-ing mind in case you couldn't tell. Tired of waiting, and "officially" hate at&t.
If I end up getting a tilt I think it will be a giant let down considering how we have all built it up from all of the anticipation. Its kinda like hearing about a new movie and then finally seeing it and it sucks.
booo freakin hooo. Even if the Tilt was coming out today (09/25) it's not even noon EST and your complaining like a little kid. Go punch a pillow and wait like the rest of us.
I hope someone breaks your fingers so you can't type this **** anymore.

Okay let me see if I have this straight:
1) you want to get a Kaiser
2) You are waitng for ATT to come out with one
3) You are loosing your hair and getting an ulcer because they cant pick what date they choose to actually deliver the aforementiond Kaiser
Would not the solution be to just go and buy one from one of the many people that are selling them now? I understand that you will have to pay more for it, but in the two months you are waiting for it I will have been using mine.
If it is a cost thing that keeps you from getting what you so badly desire then you have to take your share of the blame as when you made your purchasing decision you obviously factored in cost vs. wait time to get it.
Just my thoughts

Good points, although I should not be saying this but I have a friend at a at&t store who I refer allot of business to. I get these devices for literally next to nothing, prob like $0-$100 so buying an unlocked kaiser would not make sense. Just very frustrated.

No hard feelings, just misunderstood. Oh and that was not my idea of being tough hence my comments after.
i am frustrated, too. i have been waiting for what seems like an eternity, and since I lost my PDA at the end of August, I am having serious trouble waiting any longer. For different reasons, I need to wait for the tilt to come out before i rush out to get a TyTN II.
funny, the delay of the tilt kind of took some of the luster off the Halo3 launch for me, too. I mean, Halo 3 is amazing, but I have this yearning for a tilt that won't leave me alone.
swtaltima, i think you are probably getting a lot less sympathy/slack here than you might at other forums because so many people here already have the TyTN II. i mean when i read your posts, I recognize your frustration.
Does the OP infer that AT&T offically posted a release date for the TILT?
Really?
Because if not, they broke no promises. ****, it hasn't been announced yet, has it? I wish people would shut up about the 8925/TILT until they've at least publicly acknowledged it exists. What's worse is, if they released it today and all the bugs weren't worked out, you guys would be the first to ***** about it. They can't win.
If you're in such a hurry to get it, do like the rest of us and open up your wallet. The Kaiser's been available for some time now.

I dropped by my AT&T store at lunch to see if they had the Tilt. The girl said she had been off for the past four days so she would go check with the manager. The manager came out with his 'catalog' book and looked it up and said, 'No, we expect to see it on 10/15'. I asked about the Moto Q9 Global and was given the same date.
Whether they are clueless or not, I don't know. I originally got a Blackjack back on the 11th just to tide me over until the Tilt came out. Thinking that 30 days would be plenty of time for it to show up now appears to be quite naive on my part.

i don't see any reason people can't express frustration. no one is saying AT&T made and broke any promises. Quite the contrary, people are saying there is no need for AT&T to be playing everything so close to the vest. I think people are saying they would like to know where things stand and would appreciate updates from AT&T itself instead of leaked news and rumors. it seems natural to me, as a consumer, to want this information. people are frustrated with AT&T mainly because of its poor track record in customer service and its slavish devotion to the iphone as opposed to "better phones", and as a result, people think maybe AT&T is holding the tilt back to squeeze out more iphone sales or even 8525 sales. maybe that is not what AT&T is doing, maybe AT&T is trying very hard to make sure the Tilt is perfect before it is released. however, i can see why people may be less inclined to believe that and more inclinded to believe that the lack of info about the phone and the lack of launch details were concious decisions made by AT&T to sell more phones.
i know i feel kind of bad every time i go into an AT&T store to check on the latest buzz about the release and see a customer with a clueless phone rep checking out the 8525. now i am not saying the 8525 is not a good phone, by all accounts it is a great phone. what makes me feel bad is knowing that the customer may very well prefer to wait for the 8925 if only the sales person told them about it. however, i never see any sales reps doing that.
Spoke to the sales rep that signed me up to AT&T a few days ago. He mentioned that the 8925 is gonna be so castrated, that if you pay hypothetically 399.00 for it from AT&T, you will get a phone that's worth 399.00. I will take an educated guess that they will remove the video conferencing ability, the Internet sharing function and any other, "Super-Phone" ability the kaiser may have that will keep AT&T from ripping off their customers.
To be honest, if you really want the Kaiser, then buy it. If you wanna wait, then wait for T-Mobile, since they are a much more honest company.
I'm sure whats happening right now with AT&T and the 8925 is, they are testing it on their network and finding that they need to remove certain features before they can release it to the public. As soon as they are confident that they won't be shooting themselves in the foot by releasing a "super phone", then they will release it.
Just my opinion, and only my opinion.
JB
You want it like the rest of us... it will come out when it comes out - Not much we can do here. I'm still stuck with my nasty 8125. It will be a great upgrade skipping the 8525 I'm sure.
You need something else to tide you over... For me, it's Halo 3.

How does removing the front (and useless, to me) camera count as "so castrated" ?
Everything I'm seeing implies that will be the only difference between ATT's and the twice-as-expensive unlocked Kaisers.

Allright guys,
I hate to do this, but I'm sick of getting flipped off and getting broken promises from HTC. If I wanted those, I'd just get into another relationship with what seems to be a nice girl at a bar. I've sent in more than 9 hand written letters and countless emailed ones. I've made the proverbial ****-ton loads of phone calls. And all this through my own, free time. And I know that I'm not the only one. There is an army of people here who've written, pleased, asked politely and signed a petition. We've lambasted through what seems to be HTC's "cover fire" on the issue. After being dicked around, I didn't want a politically correct and savvy response to the issue that tells me nothing at all. For the money I paid, I wanted the basics. What, When, Where, Why. What was the problem? When Will it Be Resolved? Why has this been overlooked? If I can't get away from my girlfriend with a politically correct and savvy response to the issue of why I spent $700 on a new phone, then I don't believe HTC can use that ploy either.
Yea we've all heard this rant before, but I'm sick of this. If **** doesn''t change soon, I'm taking my business and my accounts elsewhere. It's sad when I have to degrade myself to think about rebuying the iphone. But hell even if we all know the iphone doesn't have all the features the tilt does, at least IT DOES WHAT IT'S PROMISED TO DO. No Smoke and mirrors. No concise and no business response. It just does what it's supposed to do out of the box.
Good luck everyone. This may be the last HTC product I'll ever buy.
P.S. And for all those who say this is a Business Device, not an entertainment device: As a business user, it's pretty damn hard to tell a client "HOLD ON, I NEED TO SWITCH TO LANDSCAPE MODE" or "GIMME A FEW MORE SECS TO SHOW YOU THIS EXCEL SHEET. WAIT, IT'S LOADING. ALMOST...." Even us business users are getting pissed off.
And, again, I hate the iphone, but how many of them do you see complaining because their device doesn't do an advertised feature? Or is misadvertised?
I was a huge fan of I-Mate.
But the Kaiser seemd to be good. That's why I bought it.
I think this will be the last HTC I own. Gonna stick with I-Mate for ever.
We need to sue those *****es.
yes i agree at first i was im love with my tilt but when my video recording capabilities sucked arse and simple things like scrolling while playing music makes the device lag now u know its a problem ive hear dof frigging wizards playing games better than this and they tote this as it being the most powerful windows device out but i was still gonna buy another htc product but once they released that statement im like are u serious this sis ur answer not even a "u can buy 4 more apps for 20 bucks" like steve jobbs is doing i mean i wouldve at least appreciated that but i think i might go to the tytn or the iphone they deliver on wat is promised
My next phone will probably going to be an iPhone once they release a 3G version of it. I miss my 8525

What do you mean "may"? I have absolutely excluded it. After all this mockery and arrogance from HTC, I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror if I EVER went and bought another one of their devices, at ANY point in the future.
I have an HTC One and I laid it face down on my desk at work and the phone rocks like a table with uneven legs. What concerns me is I can easily twist the phone back flat with very little pressure (almost no pressure at all). The phone seems to have very little structural rigidity since it is glued together instead of being screwed together. Has anyone else noticed the unibody twisting?
I'm unable to repeat what you're saying (not that I have a clue why you're trying to do it in the first place). The build quality on this phone feels waaaay too solid for me to warp it even slightly.
I didn't intend to bend the phone, I noticed it was twisted when I laid it down. I was curious if anyone else noticed the the phone not being flat when laid face down.

I know it sounds odd that the phone is twisting, but it is twisting.
I went to ATT today and the rep acknowledge the unibody is flexing and its not normal. His advice was to wait and see if the flexing worsened, if it does then send it in for repair under warranty... because right now he thinks HTC would claim it is in tolerance and return it unrepaired.

If your within the return period you have the right to swap it out for another if you are not satisfied.. HTC shouldn't even get involved. Speak with the supervisor if they give you issues

I have returned one HTC one already for cosmetic defects (speaks grills and display glued in crooked), because of this they say this defect has to be sent off for repair. They say they cannot exchange it again again in house.

I decided to call the ATT tech line... The tech was sympathetic to my problem and we had a conference call with a HTC rep. After explaining my issue with the phone he recommend that ATT swap it for me as the described defect was not repairable. The HTC rep also said the phone should not flex at all. The ATT tech then setup an in store exchange for me...I made the exchange and all is good.

So, is the phone "Twisted" or is it "Twisting" lol ... I can understand if you have a faulty phone and it left the factory twisted but the way you are wording things suggest it started off straight and each day you wake up it's a little more twisted lol
... I'd just take it back to the shop you bought it from and get it swapped if it's defective.
me too
I found this thread after searching for ‘htc one twisted’ in google.
I also have this problem. Having owned the phone for just over 2 weeks I took it out of its official HTC flip case to dust it off and for some strange reason laid it face down on my desk and noticed that it did not lie flat! Closer examination reveals that the whole device is in fact twisted along its long axis. Now that I have noticed it, I see it all the time.
One difference however to the other story here is they mine is quite rigid and would not straighten...proof I suppose that I have not mistreated it.
I have had other issues which resulted in me sending it back such as a scratch out of the box, ill fitting sim tray, poorly finished edges and just general poor workmanship. I worked in a lab for many years making instruments and if I made something like this, even without the twist, I would have honestly thrown it out and started over.
I have phoned HTC and they have so far been very helpful and have promised to replace the case of the phone for me. It was just collected today so Ill keep you all posted.

UPDATE:
Despite being very helpful on the phone, HTC has returned my device with a letter stating that "we were unable to replicate the fault" despite me sending pages of photographs showing the problem. Because of this stunning incompetence I have written letters of complaints to both HTC and Phones4u. Under the sale of goods act I have the right to a device "of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose". I am not happy at all, in fact I am furious with HTC keeping the phone for a week, essentially acusing me of having an overactive imagination and returning the phone with further damage! I plan to take this as far as it needs to go until I am satisfied.
You can see details of my problems here by the way: http://kelvinvine.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/my-stunningly-twisted-htc-one/
I read your blog post and was pretty sympathetic of your situation until that last line... Buy an iPhone instead?! Are you nuts?! Heathen!
But seriously, I remember that after I had my phone for about a week i noticed the exact same thing you're talking about. It was a bit teeaned) tweaked, and I could twist it straight. But then I got distracted by how amazing my phone was and completely forgot about it just now. I can understand how the scratches that it came with are pretty unacceptable, but completely discrediting an amazing phone because of a few millimeters of twist? That's like buying an amazing sports car that's fast, comfortable, gorgeous and in every way perfect, but then saying it's a crap car because there is a cosmetic defect that you wouldn't even notice in day to day use and that doesn't impact the user experience at all. It's just silly.
Every day I love my HTC One more and more. It's an absolutely revolutionary phone and I would recommend it to anyone. If you're a nit-picky person who's going to be obsessed with microscopic imperfections, that's fine and you have every right to be that way, but don't mislead people onto thinking that the average person wouldn't be ecstatically satisfied with the HTC One

You really should give people the benefit of the doubt before resorting to name calling. If you read my blog post before that one you will only see praise for the HTC One. Of course its a great phone other than the build quality and I would buy another if the post-sale treatment wasn't so distasteful. My post was ONLY ever about the disappointing build quality and the stupendously incompetent HTC repair staff. This is fact backed up by photographic evidence, not my opinion...and not name calling....which is unfortunately what pervades the internet during technology discussions.
Just to clarify, I am certain the average person will be completely happy with the HTC One. However I expect a premium product when I pay a premium price. Some may call me nit picky while others will say I am a connoisseur. Think fine wine. Notwithstanding, This doesn't mean I should not let the world know about the potential for problems so other nit picky people like myself, whom I know quite a few of, can steer clear does it?
And I'm not really going to buy an iPhone...oh god...its a figure of speech...but if I did....you shouldn't have a problem with that either....as I know loads of average, and even above average people with iPhones.

I consider your post pretty fair and your point more or less valid, but... conoisseur? Really? For being able to distinguish between a straight line and a not so straight line? In a mass produced gadget?
I fail to see the parallel between this and someone of discerning and educated taste.
Even if it was just an analogy, the simple fact that you chose to use that word in your analogy just stinks of an unsubstantiated sense of superiority. I don't know you and I may be wrong but this is what you come across as.
Sorry for going off topic and picking on people in this thread but i just had to speak my mind.

I am glad to know that you thought my post was fair though....despite the personality clash!!!! :highfive:
So I ordered a silver HTC one. Got black. I know Amazon issue right. So I stuck it out until the end of the return widow. Because I didn't want to be with a phone over a color. So eventually I did the exchange. The new HTC one I got now has bleeding of the buttons backlight on the bottom right hand corner. Now Amazon does not want anything to do with the phone. So now I have no choice but to send it into HTC for a repair. I have to pay for shipping and be without a phone again for at least 2 weeks. Now the last time HTC has fixed something for me they forced me to buy a new phone! They had replaced the motherboard and did a "IMEI transfer" and the IMEI could never be activated. HTC said it wasn't in sprint database. Sprint said the phone was broken. Both of them didn't want anything to do with me. So although I know Im not getting a new mother board, I'm scared of sending this in. Not only that I don't want to pay for shipping and be without a phone. Just a little rant I guess. So I don't know what i'm going to do.

Don't send it in unless it is a major problem. I would have just stuck with the black that was fine except the color. When you exchange you never know what you might get. I don't know how bad the led bleed is, but ones I've seen are not so bad I would ever return one.
Good luck.

Yeah, I might wait a while. For how small it is. It's very annoying watching videos in darkness. I got to say though silver is much better than black. I had fingerprints all over the back. Like my evo lte :/ . Maybe when I go on vacation and activate my Note. I'll send it in though, only if they pay for shipping.
My screen bleeds, there are a bunch of white dots when the screen is on but black, I thought it was going to bother me a lot and wanted to exchange, but didn't, you'll probably get over it too, so don't sent it lol

If you PAID money for your device, you are ENTITLED to a perfectly functioning, as advertised product. If HTC screws up, they will pay for shipping until they get it right (except the first time). So keep at it. Plus, why would you buy from amazon? The HTC website has it for a similar price, I'm sure.

Call sprint corporate number. Say that your local store is not treating you to the proper standards that you, as a Sprint customer expect and deserve. Let them know that you are paying insurance for the device, but that you have not broken nor damaged any part of the phone, that this is how the phone has come, and that many other users have had the SAME problems you are facing, and they have been treated with respect and diligence. Sprint is top-notch at customer support, but sometimes local stores are assholes. One 19 year old kid (no offense to 19 y/os) thought he could treat me like **** cuz his name tag said 'manager'. He said since my phone was rooted he could not and would not assist me with an Evo 4G LTE hardware issue. I kindly informed him that Sprint corporate policy dictates that a rooted phone must be treated as any other phone. It will also be subject to a stock software 'update'. He said: "I am the manager, and I don't want my store helping people that root their phones". Called corporate on his rude ass, where they linked me to said policy, so I could print it. I went the next day, with key parts highlighted for him... He thanked me [sarcastically] for my phone call, and said he now had to deal with his write-up. Oh and he handed me a new phone which was shipped next-day for me
Long story short, Sprint takes care of their customers... But there is always one guy or another that just wants to be an ass. Speak with someone at corporate, maybe ask for a supervisor when you they answer. Let them know that you are being wronged. You will be helped. Oh and don't forget to say you wanted silver.
My HTC One is clean, beautiful, and 0 flaws, no light leakage, no recessed buttons, no screen popping out. But fortunately this was just luck; it's my first One

Good luck! No one should have to suffer through build quality issues. Point period.
@Dogie52
So what was the outcome?
Thisis why I won't order my phone's through a third party online. I will order online but only from places I can physically return them to like sprint online or bestbuy online. Most times my phone's r fine but if I do have a problem I don't want to go through the waiting process.

Greetings good people of the xda-developers forum!
After a little reading around I figure this is the most apropriate forum to post this thread in, correct me if I'm wrong.
Earlier this year I lost my phone in a cab after a night out, the driver decided to keep my phone instead of turning it in (usually if you leave something in a taxi in this region, you'll have it back with a little humiliation from the taxi-central the day after, not this time though).
A couple months after loosing it, I got a "emergency message" from my lost phone, and it went on and off for a little while untill yesterday when it apparently was taken into use! I have an "invisible" tracking app installed that will survive factory resets and gives me the opportunity to take pictures, record sound and some more.
Anyway, the phone has moved a couple countries away since it was initially lost, so I've lost hope of reclaiming it. My plan now is to give an honest shot at making my phone the most annoying device the new owner has ever had!
I come to this forum now, looking for inspiration/ideas and warning where warnings are due!
Is there anything I really shouldn't do, that could come back and bite me?
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Any good ideas of how to bother this guy?
So far I've only really come up with the idea of wiping his data from time to time..
I appreciate any ideas or warnings!
Thanks!

it will not back bite you if have retail invoice of that phone do whatever you want
Isn't it possible, even with sim card phones, to call your carrier, report it stolen, and have it basically bricked so Noone can use it again. I know they can with like sprint and Verizon phones that don't take sim cards. But I've heard of it happening with sim devices too. I would just try calling your carrier.
If that don't work. I'd leave it alone. The person who has your phone now probably isn't the person who took it. Which is why it was sold out of the country. And that person most likely doesn't deserve all that crap

That's the nasty part of stealing a phone. The Carrier will lock the "ESN" (Electronic Serial Number) so all they need to do is flash it over to another carrier... I.E. if you have a GSN type phone from say AT&T you can flash the software over to T-Mobile who doesn't give a flying flip about a stolen ESN (As a example) I personally have T-Mobile... They did try to make a law making req the manufacture to add a "Kill Switch" allowing the consumer to render the phone useless how ever that did not pass... SO Basically some one steals your phone that's it nothing you can do but buy another phone or hack into it like the OP..
TO OP: I'd go Impractical Jokers Style. Ease drop on him and play really dirty sounds (Porn sounds... moans/grunts etc) then Fry the phone... **** that guy he had to know it was stolen and if he didn't he's a fool... Check your ESN's People!

It is indeed possible, but not flawless. There is supposed to be some automation to it in the country the phone was initially lost, but either this automation failed or it's sucess is the reason it left that country. Problem is though, the idea is that they block the IMEI from the networks, but some countries are not part of this agreement/system.
I think the guy who is currently in posession of the phone knows perfectly well how it was acquired. Judging from pictures taken through the phone, the taxi-driver and the current holder of the phone may very well be related. Also, the phone had it's language changed to Arabic by the taxi-driver, this has not been changed by the new user (not that it prooves anything). There is also the fact that the SIM inserted in the phone in the country I lost it in, followed the phone over to the current country, where it was replaced by what appears to be a prepaid SIM. I don't think this phone was up for sale anywhere, I think the taxidriver sold or gave it away to some family member coming to visit.
As mentioned, I have no hope of having it returned. I'm not gonna push this too far, but I do feel like putting a dent in his joy over his shadily acquired device.
Drooling a little over the HTC One M8

As far as I've understood, in the European countries that are part of this agreement any locked IMEI number will be locked out of all mobile networks, this can only be worked around by changing the IMEI number or shipping the phone off to some country that is not part of this agreement. In the country my phone was lost the police send a notification to the networks when they recieve a lost/stolen report. Not sure if it went through in my case.
My list of options are limited to what my tracking software allows me to do, sadly (or happily, depending how you look at it) my programming skills are not by far sufficient for me to go beyond what the software offers, allthough I reckon someone with the right knowledge could use the tracking software as a backdoor into the device?
Wow. I'll be honest, I never thought them tracking apps would ever give you anything useful, but if your able to basically see every picture they take, take pictures yourself...I think that's crazy... wipe the phone....
What exactly can you do with yours? Read texts sent and received on the phone? Does it gps track its location on demand? Even if the gps is disabled in the device itself?
You said the one you have stays on the device even after restores and factory resets? What's the name of the app?
As for the locked esns.... If an American cell company like tmo locks one up, is that gonna stick over any of the carriers in the US? Basically, all 4 of them?
Cuz I know before, as long as you had a sim card, it didn't matter, you just swapped it for a new one.

Bro, dafuq, don't insult other members of xda. Calling religious icons schmucks will insult some people. THIS IS NO PLACE TO HAVE A RELIGIOUS WAR. So stfu and leave the thread back to it's topic. Thank you.
I'm using Cerberus. I had the same app installed without root access/without placing it in system/apps on another phone I lost a couple months earlier, in which case it gave me absolutely nothing. This one however, installed in system/apps with root access, appears to be "immortal".
I reckon they will have a comprehensive list of what you can do with the app on their homepage.
